After what feels like an eternity, Michael can't take it anymore. "I never thought I'd see you again," he whispers.

"I want to say sorry and thank you, but it doesn't seem fitting. Nor enough." He continues a little louder now. Sarah shudders at that. "Don't…" she turns and grabs a hold of his hands. "You don't need to apologize for asking me to leave that door open. I could've done my job. I didn't have to take the drugs. I did that to myself. I only need to know one thing: was any of it real?"

Sarah holds her breath. And if she could, she would take back that question. Right at this moment, she isn't sure she wants a real answer. From everything, the others have indicated and told her Michael still seems to have some feelings for her. Or is it just guilt? Does he know…? Her thoughts go round and round in her head. She can't turn the merry-go-round off.

She lifts her eyes to check what is going on next to her. To see if she can spot anything in his face and what she sees scares her a fraction.

Michael's eyes betray a whirlwind of emotions as he remembers their time and the planning stages. The research he did into her. He presses his lips together trying to work out what he can say. How to word his answer and not ruin this beautiful chance he got.

He takes a deep breath and looks Sarah straight in the eyes: "It became real. Yes."

Sarah can hear it in his voice. Michael is telling the truth but she also has learned to listen closely to what people say. "But it wasn't planned. You played on my emotions at first."

She gets up and starts pacing back and forth.

"I should go. I should distance myself from you. From all of them" her hands gesture back to the building and illuminated doors. "But I can't walk away." She adds in a whisper.

Michael's eyes shoot up and they both stare at each other for the longest time until he slowly gets up and takes the few steps to her.

"What does that mean?" he asks while reaching for her hands.

"That means, we are going to have dinner. And try being friends, and just see what happens."

Sarah explains holding out her hand and then leading them back inside.

Wow, that took me forever... I am going to end it here. Maybe in the future, I am back but for now, this is it. Thanks for following along for all this time.
