Hey guys! I hope you all enjoy this chapter, in which Percy is cute, Sadie is moody and a certain uncle shows up.

Undeath9087: Honestly, yes- and it gets worse because of the Fausts- poor Sadie honestly, you gotta feel sorry for her. And you'll have to wait and see- but I will say that since Julius has moved on- he won't have any plans on bringing Ruby back. But things are never simple.
Grimlock987: I see why, Bast does enjoy messing with people- but also- Bast is a fighter- can you imagine her seeing tiny little Percy just launching herself at monsters, Bast would just be there like 'Whoo! Go on kid!'.
Heraldofset: You're not wrong- which is gonna be fun to play with- though again she is still very young- and she'll still be a kid by the end of the KC plotline. At this stage Percy is six Carter is around eleven and Sadie is about nine. Like I've said, I played with timelines a fair bit.
Guest: I'm afraid not- Percy and Sadie will be siblings- and they will have a sibling bond. Eventually. Though it'll take time for them to bond fully.
Guest: Not for a while- there will be one but it'll be at the end of the KC plotline.
The Official Clarisse: You see in this chapter! And whoops- that may not be good- we all know what happens in canon.
Julius' visit with Sadie came and went quickly- while Carter and Percy had been quite happy at the idea of their parents being in a relationship Sadie hadn't taken it quite so well- Sally had reassured Julius that she didn't blame the girl- and she wouldn't force her way into Sadie's life until she was ready, but he'd been upset at his daughters anger, at the fact that she'd swore that if he ever brought Sally with him on a visit she'd never speak to him again. Though she hadn't said anything about Percy- that was a small mercy at least.
In any case time passed- two months after the visit with Sadie Percy turned six- and for her birthday they went to Greece- where she'd spotted three Cyclopses.
Oh they hadn't even noticed her, but Percy had seen them- and so Julius and Sally had been forced to sit with her and explain things- Percy had taken most of it very well- especially the idea of Julius teaching her how to use a weapon- what he hadn't expected was for her to copy him when he reached into the Duat to pull out his staff- she pulled out a Khopesh- he'd shown her his so she at least knew what they looked like.
It had been pretty shocking to see a six year old, giggling excitedly pulling a blade from the Duat.
And so, curious as to where her innate gift with magic had come from Julius and Sally looked into Sally's family tree- and they'd been shocked to say the least to learn that Sally's great grandparents had been members of the House of Life- and were descended from Hatshepsut. Which made Sally and Percy the blood of Pharaohs.
After that he started training them both, giving Percy private lessons without Carter- she'd been upset at having to keep a secret from him at first- but Julius had framed it as a game.
Soon enough six months had passed from the last visit to see Sadie- and the next time they visited Sally and Percy actually came to London, Sally settling down in the hotel while Percy and Carter left with Julius- who had plans to take the three children out for a meal and then to a park- Sally's suggestion- she'd pointed out that as much as museum were educational, and as much as she understood why Julius wanted Sadie to learn as much as she could, it wasn't actually the smart thing to do- since they were children and they'd undoubtedly go bored out of their minds if all they did was run around museums all day-
Sadie was only three years older than Percy, she'd enjoy the chance to play in a park much more.
Both Sally and Julius were willing to admit that Sally understood the children better than he did. She'd even taken to pointing out when he was too harsh on the children- and he was too harsh sometimes- Sally understood of course, he had high expectations of Carter, but the least she could do was step in and point out when it was too much.
It had worked too- Carter was still a very serious boy, and he probably always would be, but he was more relaxed in a lot of ways now- and he'd taken to having a little sister around all the time with very clear joy- he liked being a brother, he liked looking after a younger sibling- it just hurt Sally's heart to know that he didn't get to do that with Sadie.
In any case, Percy was quite excited when they scrambled out of the taxi outside of the Faust's home.
As they did Julius took a deep breath, turning his gaze to the two children, "Carter, hold Percy's hand, Percy, stay close to Carter. Come on now you two." and he led them up the path to the house, knocking on the door loudly.
After a few minutes the door swung open and Percy peered around Carter to look- the man who opened the door was large- almost as tall as Julius- he was large too- with beefy arms, a belly much too big for his shirt, and eyes sunk deep in his face, as if someone had punched them. He was kind of scary Percy decided as she pressed into Carter's side, He didn't remind her much of Gabe- but all bigger men scared her a bit- even though her new daddy was teaching her how to fight and use cool magic so that no one would be able to hurt her ever again.
Her new daddy was probably the only large man who didn't scare her now- she just felt safe with him- especially at bed times- he always told her a different story every night- sometimes Greek, sometimes Egyptian- and she knew that Carter usually pretended to be asleep but he'd secretly listen in on them.
In any case the mans expression wasn't friendly when his eyes focused on her daddy, his eyes narrowed and he scowled, "You're early."
"I'm sorry." Julius' voice was stiff, "We can wait out here."
"Hmph." the man still didn't look happy, "Sadie's almost ready." he said that unhappily- it was obvious that he didn't want Sadie to go with them- which Percy thought was stupid. She knew there was stuff that she didn't understand, but she did know that Sadie was her daddy's other daughter and Carters other sister, so she should be allowed to spend as much time with them as possible- she should be with them not with her grandparents. But her daddy had told her that it was more complicated than that and that there was nothing that could be done about it.
Percy was smart enough to know that she probably shouldn't push it.
In any case, his gaze shifted from Julius to focus on Carter, and his eyes narrowed at the sight of Percy, and Carter let go of her hand, wrapping an arm around Percy's shoulder instead, his eyes narrowing as he glared at the man.
"This is that woman's child then. The one you told Sadie about last time."
"Yes." Julius tensed slightly.
"Do you think-"
"I think that you need to stop in front of the children." Julius cut him off swiftly. "I don't care what you think of me, but I won't have you say anything bad about Sally and Percy, especially not in front of Carter and Percy."
"Do you even know what it did to Sadie hearing about you- you just moving on with-"
"I know what it did." Julius snapped the words, "I love my children- and if I could I'd have them both with me at all times and Sadie wouldn't feel like that but given the fact that you wouldn't give me that I will not let you talk like that in front of any of my children-"
"She isn't even yours-"
"Hey." Carter spoke up suddenly, clutching Percy closer, "Don't say stuff like that-"
"Carter-" Julius' voice was soft, "It's okay son. Mr Faust, do me a favor and just go inside and get my daughter please. I'm not here to talk to you and I won't let you ruin our day."
"You can do that yourself." the man sneered and shook his head. "You usually do." he turned around and stormed inside, and after a few minutes a girl, taller than Percy with skin a similar shade to Percy's, and long straight caramel coloured hair with bright blue eyes. She was nine Percy happened to know, two years younger than Carter, wearing a scruffy pair of jeans and a tee, with a pair of black boots on.
Julius smiled widely at her, a warmth in his eyes, "Hello sweetheart."
"Hmph." Sadie huffed the word, her eyes flicking to Carter and Percy, narrowing when they focused on the younger girl, who gave Sadie a nervous little smile.
"Hi, I'm-"
"I know who you are." Sadie looked away, scowling, "Why did you have to bring her?"
"I thought you two should meet." Julius stated firmly, "Percy's a part of our life now-"
"Yours maybe-"
"Sadie-" Julius' voice held a note of warning, "Be nice. Come on now, we're going to go and get some food and then I'm going to take you kids to the park, you can all have some fun together-"
"With your replacement kid." Sadie grumbled the words and Julius gave her a very sharp look.
"Sadie, Percy is not a replacement for you."
"Uh huh-"
"I don't wanna replace anyone." Percy spoke up, pulling away from Carters side and moving towards Sadie, a hopeful smile on her lips, "We could be friends."
"Yeah right." Sadie turned her head away sharply, "C'mon then. Let's get this stupid day over with."
Julius let out a long suffering sigh, reaching out and grabbing Percy's hand, "I'm not sure I'd put it quite like that but Sadie's right we should be going."
And so they followed Sally's plan.
Dinner at least didn't go too badly, none of the children were picky eaters, and while Sadie spent most of it in sullen silence giving Carter and Percy dirty looks, at least Carter and Percy enjoyed themselves, Percy giggling as Carter helped her color in a activity sheet that the restaurant that they went to offered children.
Julius did keep an eye on Sadie- Sally had been right that his daughter would be jealous that much was very obvious- and understandable too- even if he didn't like it. But that didn't make it any less worrying.
But- he knew that Sadie probably barely saw them as family- it stung- and he'd never forgive the Fausts and the House for taking his daughter away from him, but he had no power over it- unless he decided to just take her and leave and that- that would be no life for the children- it was bad enough having to avoid the House of Life, he didn't want to have to avoid the police too. It wouldn't be fair on any of them.
The problems came when they went to the park, it was a nice park- big, grassy with a large play area for the kids- and he smiled fondly as he saw Percy at least make the effort, asking Sadie if she wanted to play on the slides- though Sadie stormed over to the swings- he sighed heavily at that, especially when he saw that sad look on Percy's face- and he was willing to admit he had something of a soft spot for Percy.
It might be because she was the youngest- she was as much his as Carter and Sadie were even if they shared no blood at all- and it might just be because she was the only one of the children he was training.
A part of him wondered if he should start teaching Carter but- the circumstances were different- Percy needed to learn to channel all of her gifts- her Greek and Egyptian blood made her a different breed entirely. He had no way of knowing how it would affect her powers- though she was certainly a quick learner when it came to fighting- she'd taken to the Khopesh quite happily and he secretly adored the times when he focused on just training her- Sally wasn't a fighter in the same way as her daughter was, she'd taken to reading up on healing magic- which would come in handy some day Julius was sure.
Thankfully the sad look didn't last long because Carter was grabbing Percy's hand and towing her towards a rope climbing area- and he was pulled unceremoniously out of his thoughts when someone sat down on the bench next to him- he reached for his work bag before he even started to turn his head- but the familiar voice reassured him and he stopped before he grabbed it, turning to focus his gaze on his brother. "Amos. What are you doing here-"
"I know." Amos' lips twitched, "I'm not supposed to see you brother, but I missed you and I wanted to check in on you. It seems Carter's growing up well. Who's the girl with him?"
Julius shifted slightly- looking uncomfortable- the House of Life would definitely not approve of Percy he knew that much. But- well. Amos was his brother- and he wanted him to know at least some of what was going on in his life.
"The little girl would be Percy." his voice was soft, fond, and he saw Amos' eyes widen, "She's my partners daughter- my daughter really."
"Julius-"
"I know." Julius let out a breath, "If you think we can get away with it, and if you have some time to spare I'll tell you just how I met them."
"You-" Amos let out a breathless laugh, shaking his head, "I think I can spare the time- you're truly moving on-"
"It's what Ruby would have wanted." Julius smiled, "Hopefully someday you'll get to meet Sally. I think you'd like her."
