4y4l: Honestly at this stage I can work pretty much with anything- though I will say that certain pairings would mean people are waiting for a while- any with Reyna for example.

Percy met their fathers gaze, she saw the silent orders in his face and she swallowed hard, pulling herself to her feet and grabbing Sadie's arm, hauling her up too, pressing a finger to her lips as she glanced at Carter, who was trying to pick up a piece of rubble.

She shook her head sharply at him, shaking as she gripped her wand tightly and mouthed 'We have to go.' and Carter gave a small nod in response, grabbing Sadie's arm, dragging her behind a column with Percy a couple of steps behind them- no way would they make it to the exit unnoticed but it was a start. At least they were somewhat sheltered.

And Percy's gaze shifted back to their dad once she was sure Carter and Sadie weren't going to draw Set's attention to them.

The man was crouched to the floor, keeping his eyes on Set as he opened his painted wooden box and pulled out a familiar rod, and then it was growing, elongating into the familiar staff- Percy heard Sadie making a squeaking sound out of shock but Percy didn't even glance at her, leaning against the pillar as she peered around it, digging her nails into the hard stone.

She sucked in a sharp breath as Julius threw his staff at Set's feet- and it transformed into an enormous serpent- ten feet long and huge, with coppery scales and glowing eyes. It lunged at Set, who effortlessly grabbed the serpent by its neck. The Gods hand burst into white-hot flames, and the snake burned to ashes.

"An old trick Julius." Set chided, looking more amused than anything else.

Percy caught her dads eye again- and she knew that he wanted them to run- but- Percy glanced towards the exit- there was no cover- there was very little chance that they'd be able to make it all the way out without being spotted.

"We need to get out." Carter whispered the words- clearly he'd caught their dads look too, and Julius started to talk again in an obvious attempt to keep Set's attention on him.

"How many? How many did I release?"

"Why, all five," Set sounded like he was explaining something to a child. "You should know we're a package deal Julius. Soon I'll release even more, and they'll be very grateful. I shall be named king again."

"The Demon Days," Julius said. "They'll stop you before it's too late."

Set laughed at that, "You think the House can stop me? Those old fools can't even stop arguing among themselves. Now let the story be told anew. And this
time you shall never rise!"

The fiery man waved his hand. The blue circle at Julius' feet went dark. He grabbed for his toolbox, but it skittered across the floor.

"Good-bye, Osiris," Set laughed. With another flick of his hand, he conjured a glowing coffin around our dad. At first it was transparent, but as their father struggled and pounded on its sides, the coffin became more and more solid—a golden Egyptian sarcophagus inlaid with jewels. Julius eyes one last time, and mouthed the word Run! before the coffin sank into the floor, as if the ground had turned to water.

Percy opened her mouth and screamed- and she could hear Carter too, screaming "DAD!" and Sadie was throwing her stone- which sailed harmlessly through Set's head.

He turned, and Percy felt sick at the sight of him- it looked surreal, as if someone had superimposed two different faces on top of each other—one almost human, with pale skin, cruel, angular features, and glowing red eyes, the other like an animal with dark fur and sharp fangs.

And Percy focused- she had to stop this- she had to try and save Carter and Sadie- and suddenly the sprinkler systems kicked in- she pulled the water through the pipes, it rained down on them all several of the fires were doused by the sprinklers and Set laughed.

"Well that's something new- Julius has lived an interesting life hasn't he, a little Greek with the blood of Pharaohs." and Percy stepped forward, gripping her wand tightly.

"Stay away from my brother and sister!"

"You think you can protect them-"

"No. But I can buy them some time! Run!" Percy sprinted forward, ignoring Carter and Sadie's panicked screams as she rushed at Set, the sprinklers suddenly shooting out the water so hard that it stung- though Percy knew it wouldn't be enough to put out a gods flames- especially not Set, who waved a hand and wall of flame surged towards her- Percy focused hard, stopping mid step and twisting, shielding her face, and the water raining down on them shifted and moved, forming a shield in front of her- the fire hit the wall of water, it was almost instantly vaporised, but all that was left of the fire was a wall of steam- Percy cried out at the heat of it, scorching hot and painful against her arms, and for just a moment she couldn't see anything but the steam, so thick and heavy that it was almost physical- Percy staggered backwards, foot catching on some of the rubble- she cried out as her ankle twisted and she fell backwards, she would have hit the ground hard but a hand was grabbing her elbow and she was being pulled backwards- she forced herself not to scream in pain as she felt her ankle twisting further.

Then the steam was clearing and Percy saw that it was Sadie who was dragging her backwards- face streaked with soot, dust and tears. And Carter was stood between them and Set, shaking- and Percy could hear heavy footsteps echoed on the marble floor of the Great Court. Voices were barking orders. The security guards, maybe the police- no one who would be able to help them.

"You're not hurting my sisters!" Carter's voice barely trembled- and Set snarled and lunged towards them, before he could reach Carter something shoved him backwards, the air seemed to spark with electricity.

Set hissed as he took in Carter.

"So... it's you-"

The building shook again. At the opposite end of the room, part of the wall exploded in a brilliant flash of light. Two people stepped through the gap—the man and the girl they'd seen at the Needle, their robes swirling around them. Both of them held staffs.

Set snarled at that, and Percy was pulling herself forward, grabbing Carter's arm and yanking him backwards as Set hissed, "Soon boy-"

And Percy had already been on the receiving end of one wall of flames, she screamed, a wrenching sensation in the pit of her stomach as she focused all of her strength, and all of the water in the room rushed towards the three Kanes, forming a thick dome around them.

The room erupted in flames, but they didn't touch the children- Percy felt Sadie's arms wrapping around her tightly- and then Carter was wrapping his arms around both of them as Percy's legs almost gave out- and their vision was completely blocked off by the steam.

Then she lost her grip on the water and Carter and Sadie had to hold Percy up, but Set was gone- there were still fires blazing all around them, though the sprinklers were still working and putting out as many of the fires as they could. And Percy turned her head, her gaze focusing on the man with the forked beard and the girl in blue and she tensed up, pushing herself free from Carter and Sadie's arms, still gripping her wand in a grip so tight that her knuckles turned white as the two figures moved towards the trio.

"Percy wa-"

"Get back!" Percy screamed the words, ignoring the way her vision swam and she could barely stand, "Get away from us!"

"Put that down little girl-" the girl pulled a long curved knife from her belt, her eyes narrowed and focused on the trio.

"We've done nothing wrong-"

"We shall-"

"No-" the man, who had a thick French accident grabbed the girls shoulder, "We must be sure before we take their lives. You three must com-"

And Percy knew, she knew this would be the last thing she could do, she'd be useless after this- sure she was skilled for her age with her magic and her powers, but she hadn't slept well the night before and she had her limits, she was only young.

"TAS!" Percy screamed it, focusing on the Hieroglyph. Usually she'd channel it through her staff or Khopesh but she didn't have either on hand and she couldn't waste the energy to summon them, her vision went white for a second, she felt hot- as if she was burning up- but when her vision cleared she saw that the two figures had been flung back and they were wrapped in thick ropes, binding their ankles together and arms to their sides.

Percy felt a rush of relief even as her legs gave out and she toppled into Carters side and Sadie yelped, "Holy crap that was- that was so cool-"

"Percy-" Carter's hand pressed against her forehead, "She's burning up- we need-"

"Need to get out of here." Percy breathed, "Police won't understand and they won't stay bound for long." she let out a weak groan, "There's another way out-"

"But the police-"

"They won't-" Percy clung to Carter tightly, "We have to run. Trust me- dad- dad told me to look after you guys-"

"Cause that isn't totally screwed up."

There were more footsteps approaching, they didn't have long, Percy had to get them out of there.

"I-" Carter hesitated before groaning, "Okay okay-" he glanced at Sadie, "Help me get her on my back. Percy you know the way out-"

"Dad had- I saw the map- I know the way out." Percy managed, and soon enough she was on Carter's back, arms wrapped tightly around his shoulders- her legs wrapped around his waist, with Carter gripping them tightly as she gave directions, Sadie snatching up a couple of decent sized rocks and their dads workbag- on Carter's frantic order, clearly ready to throw the chunks of stone at anyone who tried to catch them.

Thankfully it seemed that they'd moved fast enough, Percy directed Carter through the museum and down a set of stairs towards the exit, already trying to figure out where they'd go from there- and what they'd do if the door was locked and they couldn't get out.

And then they were by the exit- and Percy felt a rush of confusion- the doors were wide open as if they were waiting for them- she would have ordered Carter and Sadie to stop, but she could hear voices above, coming down the stairs, the police- and she highly doubted that they'd believe that the three kids were innocents.

Then they were bursting outside- the sky was dark, and the air was crisp and cold- it felt amazing against Percy's flushed skin.

She could hear Carter struggling to catch his breath- and then there was a figure, silhouetted by the street lamp stood in front of them.

Sadie let out a shriek, launching one of her rocks at the figure when it moved towards them- but the figure dodged and moved into the glow of the light- holding up his hands, "Carter, Sadie, Percy- thank goodness you're okay-"

"You!" Sadie went to launch another rock at him but the man was faster, and he caught Sadie's wrist, pulling the stone from her hand.

"Stop it! I don't want to hurt any of you- my name is Amos I'm your uncle." Percy felt Carters fingers press tighter into her legs at that.

"Our uncle-"

"He's telling the truth." Percy managed, "He- I remember when I first met Sadie- I met you then didn't I?"

"Yes-" Amos held up his hands in the universal gesture for peace, "Children, I understand your fear, you've been through something traumatic tonight- I know
what your father was doing-"

"Set-" Percy's voice cracked, "Set attacked- he- dad- he became the Eye of- but-" she shook her head, eyes filling with tears. And Amos closed his eyes, a
look of grief on his face before he opened them.

"I see. You three, we don't have much time, you need to come to me-"

"Mom?"

"The police will go to her- she can handle herself- I need to get you three out of here- Sadie- your cat-"

"My-" Sadie let out a shaky breath, "What does my cat matter?"

"Where is it?"

"At home-"

"The police won't go there right away." Amos breathed the words, clearly thinking quickly, "We will go to your grandparents and then I know just where to take you- I'll send word to Sally, she'll meet us there as soon as she can."

"Why should we trust you?" Carter demanded, "I don't even remember you."

"Because I am your family." Amos' voice was sharp, "And all I want is to keep the three of you safe. And you can't carry young Percy there much further."

"I can carry her as long as-"

"It's okay." Percy swallowed hard, staring at Amos, "Carter put me down, uncle Amos didn't approve of dads plan but he did love him. And I-" she let out a shaky breath, "I'm not up to any more heroics."
