Chapter 23: Brainwashing CDs Are Evil
It was just a normal afternoon in the Mystery Shack. The friends were discussing something very important.
"Okay… so next time we go do a check… make sure that scampfires aren't around." Said Dipper.
The others nodded in agreement, after all it was an annoying thing that just happened.
"So… is anyone up for the concert tonight?" asked Mabel changing the subject.
"What concert?" asked Sayaka.
"Oh you don't know?" asked Mabel.
"Sev'eral Timez is having a concert in town!" said Grenda.
"I don't think they're popular in Japan." Said Sayaka.
"Oh come on!" yelled Mabel.
"Seriously!" yelled Candy.
"Come on you guys… let her be… besides I bought the tickets before she showed up." Said Pacifica.
"Wait… you bought us tickets?" asked Mabel.
"Nowhere near my seats… but I still got you tickets." Said Kitsu, "What did you expect to go there and have there be tickets available?"
"Yeah…" said Mabel.
"OF course." Said Grenda.
"Kind of…" said Candy.
Kitsu sighed and face palmed.
"She's right you know… even if a lot pf people don't like the band." Said Dipper.
"You like Babba." Said Mabel.
Dipper blushed.
"The Icelandic Pop Group?" asked Kitsu.
"Come on you guys don't tease me about that!" said Dipper blushing.
"Babba… oh wait… isn't it that band who sang Disco girl?" asked Sayaka.
"Wait you know about Babba and not Sev'eral Timez? Seriously?" asked Mabel.
Sayaka shrugged.
"I'm okay with not going… if I don't know their music then it's not my thing." Said Sayaka.
That was when Candy realized something.
"Are you sure you don't want to go?" asked Candy, "I can give you my ticket."
"But I don't want to see a concert I band I don't even know…Said Sayaka.
Kitsu was glaring at Sayaka.
"Okay! That's enough of that." Said Mabel.
"?Yeah… she doesn't want to go… and you shouldn't give up your ticket for stupid reasons." Said Grenda.
Candy pouted.
"And who's to say you can just hang out here all night… if you're your parents find out about it they might ask for you to go home." Said Kitsu.
"Oh…" said Sayaka realizing what was going on.
"I have no idea what's going on." Said Dipper.
"It's fine…" said Mabel.
Soon enough the girls left minus Sayaka who wanted to hang out with Dipper.
Shortly after the girls left, Wendy showed up.
"Hey Dipper! You want to dub some security footage?" asked Wendy.
"Sure!" said Dipper exactly.
Sayaka looked at him.
"Oh sorry Sayaka…" said dipper.
"It's fine." Said Sayaka, "You can have fun with Wendy."
"Thanks!" said Dipper.
Sayaka sighed when he left.
She laid on the floor sighing even more.
At the Gravity Falls Civic Center and Buffet (yes really), Pacifica got the tickets she bought for Mabel, Candy and Grenda.
"Here… like I said their nowhere near my seats, but they're not like behind the pillar or something… just average." Said Pacifica.
"Thanks to much! I would hug you but you know…" said Mabel.
"It's fine." Said Pacifica.
"Still awesome of you to do this!" yelled Grenda.
"You're my real friends… unlike…" muttered Pacifica.
She looked at saw her Hench girls and sighed.
"Pretend to be angry when I'm walking away." Said Pacifica.
The three girls nodded and glared as she walked away from them.
At the mystery shack, Sayaka food one of the Sailor Moon manga volumes and was reading it. When Dipper ran into the room.
"Dipper… what's going on?" asked Sayaka.
Dipper shushed.
She joined in watching what he was watching. Turned out Wendy was trying to dump Robbie.
"Yes! Yes! Yes!" Dipper cheered quietly hugging Sayaka who started it blush profusely.
However Robbie decided to show Wendy something… a song he had written for her with a CD from an evil looking CD.
Both of them watched as he sang the song and Wendy seemed to snap in attention at the song when it was a part about her being hypnotized.
Both Dipper and Sayaka noticed this and looked at each other.
Wendy had changed her mind and decided to grab her jacket.
That was when Dipper ran into the room with Sayaka following.
"What was that?" asked Dipper.
"It's called romance." Said Robbie.
"It looked like you brainwashed her with a magic CD." Said Sayaka.
Robbie stared at the girl.
"Magic doesn't exist." Said Robbie.
Both of them gave him incredulous looks.
That was when Soos bear entered the shack carrying several picnic baskets.
"Okay… I might have gotten overboard." Said Soos-y bear.
Dipper motioned over to the talking bear that was really a human cursed to turn into a bear.
"Okay,… but magic CDs don't exist." Said Robbie.
"You know it looks like you brainwashed Wendy into not dumping you." Said Sayaka.
Robbie looked at the girl.
"You know…" said Robbie, "Shouldn't you be happy that I would brainwash Wendy into not dumping me."
Sayaka's eyes widened when he said that as Dipper looked confused.
"Is everything okay in here?" asked Wendy.
"Yes…" said Robbie, "everything's fine!"
Sayaka just glared at Robbie.
"Whoa… what did Robbie do?" asked Wendy, "I don't think I've seen Sayaka glare like that since she started living here."
"It's nothing… just him being a jerk!" said Sayaka.
Actually she had but it was towards her in jealously.
"Come on… let's go." Said Robbie.
The two left.
However Robbie left the CD behind.
Dipper looked at the CD.
"My stepmom did stuff like this all the time as a teenager." Sighed Sayaka.
"What?" asked Dipper.
"Yeah she's tried to use weird tactics to get my dad to marry her all the time…" said Sayaka, "There's a reason why I have a really weird family satiation."
"Yeah…" said Dipper knowing that his father had three wives.
"But we really should figures out if this CD is magical…" said Sayaka.
Dipper nodded agreeing with her.
And chances were good that it was some sort of brainwashing CD.
Meanwhile at the concert, Mabel, Candy and Grenda were all having a fun time, while Pacifica she was grumpily in the middle of fights between girls saying how they were the ones that band were talking about.
She sighed, she was miserable…
After the concert she was away from anyone who would care and counited to be miserable.
"Hey!" said Mabel finding her.
"I hate this so much." Muttered Pacifica.
Candy stared reassuring her.
"It's fine." Said Candy.
"Hey! You want to come with us and break into the back stage area?" asked Mabel.
"Seriously?" asked Pacifica but she knew that it was would such a Pines thing to do she couldn't really argue with it.
They headed to where backstage and found where their dressing room was.
"All right! Girls are you ready for the perfect night with our favorite band?" asked Mabel.
"Until they kick us out." Said Pacifica.
Mabel laughed.
They got into the dressing room and saw something shocking.
Inside the room was serval tubes filled with copies of Sev'eral Timez in various stages of development (like a baby and a teenager) while the band itself was in a giant hamster cage.
"You know they joke about boy bands being grown in vats I just never thought it would be true." Said Pacifica.
They hid when they heard someone.
Meanwhile at the Mystery Shack, Sayaka decided to video chat wither family.
"(Hey!)" said Perfume answering.
"(Hey!)" said Sayaka, "(Um… can you get your mom?)"
"(Why?)" asked Performed confused.
"(Um..,. we might be dealing with a brainwashing CD that a guy is using to brainwash his girlfriend into not leaving him…)" explained Sayaka.
"(Oh! Okay!)" said Perfume.
She left and soon enough Shampoo was on the other end.
"(Perfume told me you needed to talk to me.)" said Shampoo.
"(Well um… a boy no one likes just used a cd and me and Dipper think he brainwashing her into not breaking up with him.)" said Sayaka.
Shampoo looked at her step daughter and sighed.
"(I'm sorry… it's just…)" said Sayaka.
"(This is the third time this week one of you kids needed advice about something like this…)" sighed Shampoo.
Sayaka laughed nervously.
"(Tell me about what you saw.)" sighed Shampoo.
Sayaka examined what she saw while Dipper watched knowing he can't exactly help in the conversation since he didn't understand any of it.
Back at the back stage area, the girls hid as they saw a clearly evil bald man tell at the band.
He chewed them out for barley selling out and telling them they're easily replaceable.
The girls looked at each other and once the man was gone they approached the band.
"Who goes there! Prepare to be danced at!" yelled one of the members of the band.
"Wait! It's girls." Said another member of the band, "You don't do that to girls."
"Hi…" said Candy unsure how to respond.
"Hey girl!" said one of the band members.
"Who was that scary chub chub man?" asked Mabel.
"That was our manager Mr. Bratzman." Said one of the band members.
"He keeps us here in this cage." Said another of them.
"That's terrible." Said Mabel.
Pacifica looked at the boyband in the cage.
"We're getting them out of here." Said Pacifica.
"What?" asked the boy band.
Candy knew why she wanted to get them out of there… because of her own situation.
"All right Grunkle Stan has taught me a lot about breaking things out." Said Mabel.
"Thanks Beef." Said one of the boy band members.
"Did you just call me beef?" asked Mabel.
And so they began their plan to break out the boyband.
Back in the Mystery Shack, Sayaka managed to get all of the information she needed.
"(Thank you.)" said Sayaka.
"(Sayaka… is that the boy you like?)" asked Shampoo.
"(I don't like him that way! I don't!)" cried Sayaka.
Shampoo sighed.
"(Fine… just… be careful…)" said Shampoo.
"(Okay!)" said Sayaka.
Once the conversation was done Sayaka sighed.
"Okay! So she thinks in might subliminal and not magic… so we're going to look up how subliminal messages could be in songs then." Said Sayaka.
"Okay!" said Dipper.
They began to look up various websites.
Then they heard a crash downstairs and began to check on it.
They found the other girls with a large duffle bag.
"What are you doing?" asked Dipper.
"None of your business!" said Mabel.
"We're criminals! Don't cross us." Said Candy.
"Just pretend you didn't see anything." Said Pacifica.
As they brought the duffle bag Dipper and Sayaka looked at each other. And they knew they shouldn't get involved.
"Let's go look up the websites and see what they recommenced" said Sayaka.
"Good idea." Said Dipper.
In the twins' room they brought the boyband up. Who was looking around cursorily.
"Okay! We have our own pet boyband!" said Mabel.
"We can't just keep them here." Said Pacifica, "They're humans…"
"Are you sure about that?" asked Grenda.
They watched how they acted.
It was morel ice children or animals than the seemingly adults they were.
"Okay… maybe…" said Pacifica.
That was when they saw out the window Mr. Bratzman getting into an argument with Soos asking if he'd seen the band.
He left not noticing the goat eat part of his license plate as he left.
The girls and the boyband breathed sigh of relief.
"Okay! So we can't let him free while his parents are still out there." Said Pacifica.
Candy nudged her and she realized what she just said.
"Okay… I think I might be projecting somewhat, but we can't let them leave for a while." Said Pacifica.
"Either way! They're here for a while cheered Mabel an soon she was in a braid train with them.
"This isn't going to end well." Said Pacifica.
With Dipper and Sayaka they got to the websites.
"Okay so the best ways to do it are to either slow it down or make it go backwards." Said Dipper.
Sayaka nodded.
She looked at Dipper and blushed.
"I'm sure there's also programs online." Said Dipper.
Sayaka nodded.
"All right! Once we bust the truth out of it! Then Wendy won't be dating Robbie any ore and she be free." Said Dipper.
Sayaka flinched for a number of reasons.
"Ano…" she said.
"What is it?" asked Dipper.
"If you tell Wendy are you sure she won't shoot the messenger?" asked Sayaka.
Dipper looked up at her.
"You're showing her that her boyfriend just brainwashed her…" said Sayaka, "She might get angry at you…"
"I never thought of that." Said Dipper.
"We need to be gentle with this…" said Sayaka.
They began to look through the various things online about it.
Though after a bit they decided to wait until the next day.
Over the course of the next day however Mabel got closer to the boyband that living there.
She tired her best to hide it from everyone who lived there and though it we kind of hard, though the other girls were helping her of course.
However sometime later they found out that Mr. Bratzman was arrested for during without a license plate.
'They're going to be fine." Said Kitsu who decided to spend that day in her cursed form.
"Let's go free them!" said Candy.
They ran upstairs to free the boyband.
"Wait no!" said Mabel, "We can keep them for a bit longer… maybe forever…"
"Mabel… they need to be free." Said Kitsu.
"But I love them…" said Mabel.
"But Mabel…" said Grenda.
"No! You aren't taking them away from me." Cried Mabel.
"Okay… we'll talk about this later." Said Kitsu.
"Really?" asked Mabel.
Kitsu nodded and Candy and Grenda followed suit.
"Thanks so much girls." Said Mabel, "You're such good friends!"
She went to tell the boyband that they needed to hide for longer.
"So what's the plan?" asked Candy.
"We tell Stan." Said Kitsu.
The girls looked at each other nervously but knew she had a point.
With Dipper and Sayaka, they finally found a good program that wouldn't bug the computer.
"Okay we'll check slow first." Said Dipper.
They played the song slowly but there was nothing.
"So backwards then." Said Sayaka.
They played it backwards and they heard the message "You are under my control and you will obey me."
Both of them froze.
"IT's real." Said Sayaka.
"So how to d we tell her… I don't want her angry with me." Said Dipper.
"How about we tell her together…" said Sayaka, "(This way she won't think you're trying not date her…)"
"What?" asked dipper.
"Nothing." Said Sayaka.
Sayaka sighed when he shrugged it off.
With the other girls Stan sighed at the story that they told him.
"What is my life?" asked Stan.
"We don't know what to do and…" said Kitsu.
"Look I have an idea… it's going make you feel dirty… and I probably wouldn't think about it if she wasn't here… but I think I know of a way for Mabel to get rid of them." Said Stan.
The girls looked at each other unsure what to do but knew that Stan would handle it.
Meanwhile, Wendy was about to leave work for the day.
"Hey Wendy! You ready for make out point?" asked Robbie.
"Wait Wendy! We need to talk to you." Said Dipper.
"It's about that song Robbie wrote for you." Said Sayaka.
"What's that supposed to mean?" asked Robbie.
Dipper took out the computer and played the subliminal message.
"Robbie?" asked Wendy, "Is this true?"
"I… uh… well…" said Robbie.
"How could you…" said Wendy.
""Look I stole the song from someone else!" said Robbie going into denial mode.
"What!" cried Wendy.
And she started crying.
Dipper watched the two fought.
He was about to celebrate but Sayaka looked at him and he kept it in feeling kind of guilty.
"It wasn't the fact that you brainwashed me! I thought it was really sweet you wrote that song for me! And it was a lie!" cried Wendy.
Robbie began to sweat.
"We are through!" yelled Wendy storming out of the Mystery Shack.
Robbie watched her leave.
"You!" yelled Robbie looking at Dipper.
He was about to punch Dipper however Sayaka caught the punch.
"What?" asked Robbie.
Sayaka then flipped Robbie over her shoulder which was impressive considering he was much taller than her.
"Leave now!" said Sayaka.
Robbie nodded and ran away.
"That was amazing!" said Dipper.
"Thanks…" said Sayaka blushing.
She looked at Dipper.
"So when do you think I should talk to Wendy?" asked Dipper.
Sayaka sighed.
"I'm going out for a walk." Said Sayaka.
"Okay…" said Dipper.
Meanwhile Mabel was in a brain train with the boyband when there was a knock on the door.
"Mabel!" yelled Stan.
"Hide!" said Mabel.
The boy band hid and she let in Stan.
"Oh hey Grunkle Stan! What do you need?" asked Mable trying to not to be suspicious and failing at it.
"Cut the act, I know about the boyband." Said Stan.
"What?" asked Mabel.
Then she saw the other girls behind him.
"Traitors!" yelled Mabel.
Meanwhile Sayaka found herself at the lake, she sat on the shore and sighed.
"Hey!" said Wendy.
"Hey…" said Sayaka.
"So… you decided to help me even with his crush." Said Wendy.
Sayaka nodded.
"Thanks…" said Wendy.
"I was hoping he would notice me while working together but he didn't…" said Sayaka.
Wendy sighed at the younger girl.
"Hopefully he'll notice you soon." Said Wendy and added mentally "Or one of the other girls who have a major crush on him."
Back at the Mystery Shack, Stan laid down his ultimatum.
"Either you let these beautiful men free or I sell them to Nabiki." Said Stan, "She runs a Japanese talent agency as one of her many legal companies, I'm sure she'll be willing to go into the American market."
"No! She'll be even worse than the Chub chub man!" said Mabel.
"Mabel they need to free!" said Candy.
"It's what they want…" said Grenda.
"But I love them!" said Mabel.
"You can't keep them like this…" said Kitsu, "They're human."
One of them was sniffing something. Stan especially stared at this.
"We think…" said Kitsu.
Mabel sighed and knew she had to set them free.
And so she did… she let them into the woods.
"You know… this wasn't I had to in mind." Said Stan.
One of them was making out with tree.
"Really not what I had in mind." Said Stan.
"They won't survive a week." Said Candy.
Stan sighed.
Once the boy band was out of site, they headed inside.
Dipper decided to get some advice.
"Hey… I just got Wendy break up with Robbie. When do you think would be a good time to talk to her." Said Dipper.
"Wendy and Robbie broke up?" asked Kitsu.
"Yeah…" said Dipper.
"Wait… you broke them up?" asked Mabel.
"It's kind of complicated." Said Dipper.
"He was using a CD to brainwash into staying with him." Said Sayaka having come back from her walk.
"Wait… he was using a CD to make sure she didn't dump him!" said Mable horrified, "That is messed up!"
Both Kitsu and Candy grumbled but they knew that Wendy didn't diverse that.
"Wait did you help him?" asked Candy realizing something.
"Yeah…" said Sayaka.
Both of them gave Sayaka a deadpan look.
"Come on! We all know it was messed up…" said Sayaka.
"You get a pass this time…" said Candy.
'Next time you might not be so lucky…" said Pacifica.
Translation: If Wendy starts dating someone else, don't break her up with her boyfriend again.
Sayaka nodded.
Dipper looked at the girls confused.
"Ugh… seriously?" asked Grenda.
"What?" asked Dipper.
And so Wendy managed to break up.
Also the boy band had started to raid their garbage for scraps of food… annoying Stan to no end wondering why they didn't just "free" the band in a different way that wasn't letting them roam around the forest…
However they didn't know was that things were going to change soon… in a way they never expected…
