If anyone was watching as they blinked all they would have seen is their forms dematerializing and then vaporizing into a pile of black soot to be swept away by the next stiff breeze. Her daughter was right. Joanna's insides felt like they were outside of her body for a split second and she did want to scream out loud but when she tried nothing came out. Being that it was dusk when they blinked away from the city when Joanna opens her eyes again after they got to where they were going she sees pinks and blues in the sky above her facing West. She turns around and to her surprise, she looks out at the Atlantic Ocean. She knows this because she's been to Cape May before and knows what the lighthouse looks like. She looks at her daughter and she can tell that she's done this many times before because it doesn't even seem to phase her. She has a million questions to ask but doesn't know where to start.
"Katie tell me is it like that every time you do this?"
"Mostly yes. As long as I have a safe landing spot it doesn't bother me that much anymore. I've been all over the globe in less than a second and after a while it gets boring. You can only see so many things again for the first time."
Joanna nodded in acknowledgment.
"So now that you've done it with me do you think that you, me, and your father will be able to get to Ireland?"
"I'm pretty sure I can take you there. At first, it felt like I was bogged down when I was holding your hand but after we blinked it was easy. All I had to do was concentrate on where we were going to end up. That's the hardest part. But I am not sure what would happen if you accidentally let go. I have an idea of what could happen but I don't want to try out my theory. But I guess that it goes something like this. If you were to let go of my hand while you're being moved from one spot to another you would end up being vaporized completely from this plane of existence. When I mean is you would instantly fold in on yourself and disappear never to be seen or heard from again. So do me a favor and do not ever let go of my hand."
"I won't."
Seeing that they were at Cape May, New Jersey and the beach was less than fifteen feet in front of them they decided to go for a long walk on the beach. Joanna didn't want to start asking so many questions that it overwhelmed her daughter so she started easily with simple ones first.
"Katie, are there others like you? What I mean is, have you met others like you and what are they like?"
"I'm sure that there are more people with my abilities, mom, but I have never been in the company of others with my ability. They say that everybody has a soulmate out there so I seriously doubt that there would only be me with the power that I possess. I am sure that there are more like me out there somewhere."
They walked and talked easily for about an hour talking about different aspects of their lives. Johanna kept coming back to the fact that she could never do what her daughter could do. But there was the nagging feeling of was she the one who did this to her daughter in the first place. Or was it her husband?
Joanna looks down at their joined hands still deep in thought when her daughter comes to a stop beside her. Joanna kept walking until their outstretched arms stopped her. She turns and looks at her daughter questioningly.
"I can move from one place to another very quickly, mom but while I am moving through time when I blink time practically stands still for that split-second. But when we are or I should say when I am at the place I want to be, time continues at a normal pace all around me. We've been here over an hour and I bet dad is most likely worried about where we are by now. So what do you say we head back home and tell him that we're going to Ireland."

The second they arrived back in the apartment Jim was pacing in the living room. He didn't stop until he heard a chair moving in the kitchen.
"Johanna? Are you back?" He queried.
"Jim, we're both back. Let's talk about what we are going to do next."
"I was so worried about the both of you. I thought something bad had happened."
"Dad I am a cop. So nothing bad would happen to us."
Jim looked to his wife for some information and she was very forthcoming.
"What was it like?" He asked.
"Jim believe me when I tell you that what you will experience when your daughter moves you from one place to another will be an eye-opening, to say the least."
"Where did you go? And did it hurt when you did it?"
"We went to Cape May and no it didn't hurt. However there is a feeling that…" Joanna stopped mid-sentence not knowing how to describe what she felt when she was "blinked" so to speak.
"Jim there was nothing I could do with my body. I couldn't move when we're being moved from New York to Cape May, I couldn't scream because it felt like my lungs are being compressed inside my body, and I really couldn't see much because I had my eyes closed the entire trip both there and back."
"So what you're telling me is that it's a safe way to get from one place to another?"
"You could say that. But be thankful that we're only using Katie to go to Ireland. I have a really bad feeling that when we take the flight from Ireland to Italy that Katie is going to have to pick us up when we're ready to leave Rome."
"Why is that?" Jim asked.
"I don't think that the domestic airlines will be able to settle their differences by the time that we are ready to come home and we will be stranded in Italy and then we will be scrambling to get back to JFK."
"Johanna, I'm not sure that this is what we should be doing. I agree that our daughter has the power to move us from one place to another but don't you think that it's a little premature? We know that she can move from one place to another because we have dealt with it years ago when she was little. We just swept it under the carpet so to speak. So what makes you think that we can be able to use her to move us from one place to another without anything going wrong?"
She should have expected this from him. He was always the doubting Thomas of the two of them and while he did bring up a good point he had never actually traveled with his daughter to another place. Once he did he would understand that this was the only way to get from one point to another without taking a plane to get there.
"Jim if you understood what was going on you would know that what your daughter can offer us would be a blessing in disguise."
"Johanna I'm not sure that this is what we should be doing."
"Jim I'm here to tell you that what I experienced was nothing short of miraculous. Your daughter has the power to move us from one place to another and even though she didn't know we know now that it's possible. As long as you don't let go of her hand we will be fine."
"Now you see when you tell me things like that it gets me more than worried. But if you believe in what our daughter can do then I guess I have no issues with what's going to happen."
In the end, the decision was made to have Katie take them to the hotel in Ireland. She didn't have a focal point to blink to but she had remembered some locations that are close by to where her parents were staying. Of all the nations that she has been to, Ireland was her favorite.

After Katie blinked them to Ireland it felt a little weird just walking up to the hotel with no luggage. Their daughter would return with their suitcases after they got their room.
They were checking in to the Imperial Hotel in Cork Ireland for the first part of their trip. The hotel itself was a five-star establishment. After taking a walk around the grounds they checked into their room. The room itself was cozy and very large at the same time. There was one king-size bed with a mattress that was like being on a cloud it was very comfortable. the restaurant within the hotel had a very famous chef cooking for it. Most of the meals they had were ate in this restaurant.
"Now Jim tell me was being moved from one place to another all that bad?" Johanna asked.
"No, not really but I understand what you went through when you went to Cape May. It felt like there was so much pressure on my chest and I couldn't breathe. But other than that I didn't mind it that much."
"Well, I'm glad you're used to it because that's how we're getting back from Italy according to the papers the strike is still ongoing and doesn't seem to be ending anytime soon.
" Oh joy."
