Fanfiction Rant

As you can see this is not a "story about a young wizard learning the lessons of life" like it said in the summary. No here I will talk about the problems in Harry potter fanfiction.

Let's start with Problem #1. The Administrators. One thing that pisses me off about them are their random deletions. Sure they keep all the slash and Harry/ginny stories, but for some reason delete many heterosexual, Non HG stories. You know it makes me wonder if the Administrators are biased towards slash.

Sure it must be a coincidence that they take away all the graphic Hetero stories but leave the Graphic slash ones. If you couldn't guess I was being sarcastic.

Another thing I must talk about is all the clichés in stories. Seriously it seems like most authors get their ideas by making a list of the most used ideas and put them into one story. Some of the most used clichés are.

The List

You see this in a lot of Harry potter independent stories. I'm not saying lists are bad, but at least try to be original. The standard List goes like this.

Must escape Privet Drive.

Go to gringotts and free myself from Dumbledore

Buy trunk, dragonhide armor, Dark art books.

Get dobby to work for me.

Sure authors might make some minor adjustment to this list but in the end it always becomes something like the example above.

Bad ass overnight

This cliché pisses me off heavily. Most wizards like Dumbledore or Voldemort probably didn't become Super powerful in 1 month, so how is it he becomes so powerful in 1 summer. This cliché mostly occurs in Post-Ootp stories. How could Harry go from a weak and naïve boy into a ass- kicking extremely cunning man in one summer.

Sudden Love for ginny

This is also a frequently used idea. In most Post-Ootp stories Harry suddenly notices ginny. That is bullshit. I mean most authors don't even explain his sudden attraction to her. She wasn't even mentioned in books 3-4 and now suddenly there making her into the perfect soul mate for Harry.
