Holiday Magic Quest Chapter 4 – Avengers Assemble
5 HOURS TO SUNRISE
Team Fire ran to the campus as fast as they could. When they arrived, they stopped for a moment to catch their breath. Sid sat down on a bench and said, "Can we stop for a minute? I need to catch my breath." 'Sure," said Mal, "I need to catch my breath, too." Sid looked to the campus of buildings, "Looks like we're here." When they were finally ready to keep going, they stopped in front of Web Slingers as Spider-Man landed down on the ground.
"Hey there, everyone." greeted Spidey as he swung down from the building and landed on the ground. "Glad you could make it. I'm aware of the curse situation. I have a mission for you, ready?" Team Fire both said, "Ready!" "Okay, your mission is to meet the other Avengers across the campus. The following Avengers are Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Star-Lord, and Groot. When you meet one of them, they'll hand you apart. Once you get all four parts, come back to me to complete your mission. See you." Spidey swung away back to his building.
"Okay, so we have to find them across the campus," said Sid. Mal added, "So we can gather the parts and head back here. Sounds simple enough, let's go!" Team Fire headed towards the Ancient Sanctum, where Doctor Strange was waiting. "About time. What took you so long?" Sid answered, "Long Story, we had to walk." "I have something for you," Strange pulled out a part and tossed it to Mal. "You did recall something about the multiverse, did you?" "I think so, but sorry, we gotta run, we got to save the holidays." Team Fire headed out of the building and towards the Avengers Headquarters, where Groot was waiting for them.
"I am Groot," said Groot. "I am Groot." "Yes, uh-huh," said Sid, who could only translate from Groot. Mal asked, "What is he saying?" "It looks like Groot is looking for Star-Lord. We got to find him anyways." So Mal, Sid, and Groot headed over to PYM Test Kitchen. Ant-Man was waiting patiently for them and also holding drinks and a treat for them, "Look who decided to come over for a snack break." Ant-Man handed the glasses, treated Sid, and passed Mal a machine part. "Hope you love the Proton PB&J Punch drinks and the Celestial-sized Choco-Smash CANDY Bar. You're going to go on a craze!" "Thanks!" said Mal and Sid.
Soon, they could find Star-Lord, singing and dancing along to his mixtape. He stopped dancing when he noticed Groot, a sloth, and a purple-haired girl, and he asked, "How long were you standing there?" "I am Groot." "Oh, right, the part." Both Star-Lord and Groot handed over their parts to Mal. "Now, if you'll excuse us, we have a dance-off to do." Both Mal and Sid began heading back to Web-Slingers.
Mal and Sid had a chat while having their drinks while walking back. "So, how's it going with your life?" asked Sid. Mal answered, "It's been a wild ride for me. A few months ago, I got married, had an amazing honeymoon, and was about to spend my first Christmas together with my husband, King Ben. I wish my friend Carlos were here…" Sid comforted Mal, "Hey, it's alright, you've gone through a lot, I've gone through a lot, too. I'm planning to ask Brooke to marry me at home, but it's a good thing that Scrat needed my help. I just needed time to think about it." Sid was starting to feel let down. Mal comforted Sid and said, "Hey, it's alright, don't worry."
Soon, they finally arrived at the Web Slingers Building and entered inside. Spidey was waiting for them. "Took a while for you to come back. You got the parts?" Mal took all the parts and handed them over to Spidey. "Thanks, one moment, please." He made a vast slingshot in under a minute, complete with a spider web for an elastic band. "Now that you have a slingshot, your mission is to take out 20 spider-bots. I'm going to go ahead, make sure to bring the slingshot along with you on the ride!" Mal and Sid took the slingshot and attached it to the ride, and their second part of the quest began. A minute later, spider bots were crawling everywhere. Spidey hangs upside down saying, "Use your slingshot to take out those bots, use the ammo provided to take them down, good luck!" Mal quickly grabbed web-ball ammo and managed to take out the first bot with precision. Sid took over the slingshot and took out another bot! Team Fire alternated between shots. Despite a couple of misses, they managed to work together, but when they took out the 9th bot, trouble was stirring….
Meanwhile, back at the castle, Captain Gutt appeared in front, saying, "It appears a sloth and a girl think that taking out targets is fun? So, let's give them something with piracy!" Captain Gutt laughed out his evil laughter as he made Team Fire's challenge difficult.
Back at the challenge, Sid just took out the 10th bot when Captain Gutt's crewmates invaded and started blocking the shots to the bots. "What happened?" asked Sid, "How did they get into here?" Mal answered, "Must've been the curse again. It looks like Gutt sent reinforcements to stall our challenge!" Just as Mal finished, Spidey swung into the ride and said, "Looks like you're going to need help," He quickly bought out another slingshot for Sid. "Now, you'll both fire together, and I'll do the best I can to help. Keep firing." With both slingshots at play, Sid and Mal kept firing balls, taking out the pirate crew and a bunch of bots too. Soon, the entire pirate crew wound up raising the white flag, and only one bot left, and Sid was about to make the final shot. He said, "This one's for you, Carlos." He let go of the slingshot, and it made a direct hit, completing the challenge!
"You did it, Sid!" exclaimed Mal, hugging Sid. "Thanks, Mal," said Sid, holding out his hand for a fist bump, "Team Fire." Mal did the fist bump, too. "Team Fire!"
Soon, they exited the building. Spidey thanked them for the help and gave them their assembled slingshot as a gift, "Thanks for helping me out. I'm going through a lot of trouble on my end." "No problem, take care of yourself," said Mal. "See ya, Spidey." Spidey swung on his web away from the team. Just then, the tablet went off in Mal's bag. She answered, "Hello?" "Hi, M!" Mal was surprised, "Oh my gosh, it's my friend, Evie!" Evie explained the next destination, but she had to play charades to figure out their next clue. First, Evie pretended to act like Tarzan in the Jungle by swinging from vine to vine. After that, Sid and Mal made multiple guesses.
"An ape?"
"A monkey?"
"A Zoo?"
"A Jungle?"
"Yes, that's one part," said Evie, "Now for the second part." She began pretending to cruise. Sid guessed the next part, "A Cruise?" "Yes, now the two words together…." Both Mal and Sid said, "Jungle Cruise!" Evie was thrilled, "Yes, that's it, that's your clue! Good Luck, Team Fire!"
"Let's go, Sid!" said Mal. So, team Fire began heading toward the ride, but the villains weren't happy.
"Gah, this stupid curse machine doesn't even work!" said Gutt as he smashed the holiday curse machine to the ground. Agatha replied, "It doesn't matter. That squirrel and his team won't succeed! So, we'll have to play harder!"
