It was almost as if the snow falling was endless; the world doomed to be forever coated in white.

At least, that's what ran through Grimora's mind as she stared out the cabins window, appreciating the snows temporary visit. She could hear the sound of cards shuffling behind her - most likely Leshy rearranging his deck - as she noticed the frost clinging to the glass.

Grimora sighed, eyes shifting back from the window to the falling snow. It was almost as if she could see the past in them; small crystals letting her glimpse at things now long gone. "Not literally, of course," she thought to herself, releasing a halfhearted, but quiet, chuckle. The shuffling noise came to a sudden stop, causing Grimora to turn around. Leshy was staring at her, seemingly somewhat worried.

"Are you alright, Grimora? You've been staring out there for... quite a while now." he asked, his voice soft.

Grimora placed her hand by her neck while walking to the table Leshy was at, sitting across from him. "I'm fine," she responded truthfully, "simply just... thinking. About the past." Grimora admitted, glancing down at the table. She studied the wood grains as the room fell silent.

Leshy watched her carefully, which was hard to do when the only light source available were two dim candles. He tried to think of a way to break the silence. Sighing, he idly tapped his fingers on the table. Luckily for him, Grimora began to speak again.

"It's... odd how quickly things can change," Grimora said after carefully pondering her words. She looked up at Leshy, and leaned back in her seat. "Remember when we used to all get together for Christmas?" she laughed gently, covering her mouth with her hand. Her conversation partner nodded, but the memory was more murky for him. He always had a hard time with remembering.

Grimora turned her head, eyes focused on the window again. "Or how P-03 always managed to get snow in its gears, somehow?" she continued, not noticing the small smile she had. Leshy laughed - now that was something he remembered.

"It always got so aggravated."

"Hah, it truly did... what a time." Grimora's voice quieted as memories filled her brain. She wished that, somehow, she could experience these things again, but found comfort in knowing that they at least happened; forever immortalized in her mind. Leshy nodded in agreement, stopping himself from tapping on the table in order to fiddle with his card deck. He thought about what Grimora had said, and suddenly the reality of how much has changed now hit him. It felt like he's had this realization a countless number of times, as it wasn't unusual for Grimora to reminisce like this around December. He knotted his expression, trying to remember what had caused the Scrybe's relationships to crumble so drastically, but to no avail.

Grimora noticed how tense Leshy seemed, and felt a pang of guilt. "I'm sorry if this topic is upsetting you," she hastily apologized, "I should have thought more before I spoke."

The Scrybe waved it off with a small shake of his head. "It's quite alright. You didn't do anything wrong." Leshy assured. "But... it would be nice to talk about something else now," he admitted. Grimora nodded, his words reminding her of the reason why Leshy had invited her over.

"...We never finished our card game, did we?" Grimora questioned, smirking smugly.

Leshy hummed, tearing his eyes away from his card deck and onto Grimora. "We did not. Is this an invitation to finish it?" he asked, slightly leaning forward in his seat. He seemed a bit more alive now.

"That is why you called me over here, isn't it?" she replied, preparing her own deck. "I just hope you know that I'm still going to win," Grimora teased, her tone giving off an air of lighthearted superiority.

"Ah, we'll see about that," Leshy replied, having his own bit of smugness.

With the challenge now on, the two Scrybes had an invigorating battle of cards, as the snowfall continued endlessly into the night.
