Alora couldn't believe that she had been too distracted to notice that Efan had been building a house for them. It was the smallest house in the village with everything in one room, but it was perfect because it was theirs. When other women asked her with wolf smiles what she thought she told them so, and when they pressed about the space Alora just smiled and said there was plenty of time to add if it was needed.

It took a few months but they started to leave her alone when they couldn't get a rise out Alora. Efan smiled every time he thought of going home to her, and how their lives had changed for the better since their marriage. And as he came in from the fields a year and a half after the wedding Alora came to him with the evidence of their child growing around her waist.

She came forward and hugged him, "How was the north field?"

"Alright, but the twins were working with me today." Wrapping an arm around her as she pulled back slightly, "Don't worry, they didn't try anything extreme."

Sighing through her nose, "Of course they didn't try to push you. You married into Brandon's family." Pulling his arm, "Come have your dinner."

They ate in a comfortable silence but it was broken when Brandon opened the front door, "Efan, we need all the men to meet in front of the fortress in fifteen minutes." Efan rose to his feet, "Get the ones on the woods side of the field."

He closed the door as Efan asked, "Whats happened?"

Alora went to his side, "I guess we'll find out in fifteen minutes." He nodded and kissed her head going out to rouse all the men from their houses. No one was left in the house to see her hands shaking as she cleared their dinner from the table.
