It started off simple. All Link wanted to do was to let Zel-no, the princess, have a day off. And that was his first mistake.
"Link?! I'm ready to go now!" came the voice of the princess from her room. He opened the door and his jaw dropped. She was wearing a golden sleeveless dress held up by straps over her shoulders. Around her left wrist, he saw a golden bangle with a ruby as well as a thinner golden bracelet. Further up her arm he noticed a golden bracelet in between the thicknesses of the first two. He dared himself to stare and saw a bead necklace and a golden choker around her neck. This all made her look gorgeous, yes, but the thing he was fixated on was the tattoo of the triforce on her arm just past her right shoulder.
He barely heard her voice. "See something you like, Link?" she asked in a sing-song teasing voice. He sputtered and managed to get out one word. "Y-y-yeah." She walked over to him and took hold of his left hand in her right. "Let's go."
Sometime later, he noticed that she had led him to a balcony where they could sit and watch the firework display. At least, that's what he thought. They heard the one-minute countdown begin.
"Link, I brought us here so we could watch the firework display at midnight, but, and my father knows this, I brought you here so the whole town and castle could see this. I told him I'd light a sparkler if you said yes. Will you carry out the New Years tradition with me"
"45! 44!"43!"
As they heard the countdown grow louder, Link answered with a nod. Zelda lit the sparkler and handed it to him he wrapped his arm around her and stuck the one holding the sparkler out in front of them. Zelda touched his arm and curled her fingers around it.
"Kiss me at midnight Link."
Link heard them grow even louder as they shouted out.
"15! 14! 13! 12! 11! 10!"
When they got down to five, Link tilted his head towards hers and as he heard the crowd shout, "Zero! Midnight!" he leaned in and touched his lips to hers, and she responded by licking her tongue along his bottom lip and he opened his mouth eagerly. With their eyes closed, neither noticed Impa and Purah with the slate, taking a picture of them mid-kiss. Swirling their tongues against each other, they moaned and when they pulled apart they heard her father shout out that his daughter had finally gotten Link to admit his feelings and Impa, Purah, Robbie, and all four champions shout, "That was some kiss eh?!"
A few hours of kissing and talking later Link agreed to marry her. Urbosa and Link's mother looked at Rhoam and began laughing when they asked if the two would help them plan the wedding.
"Help? No! We are going to plan it while you two enjoy each other!"
Link and Zelda blushed at hearing all three of them basically telling them to- "What we mean is, sex before marriage guys. All of us had sex with our spouses before we got married, and we all had our first child that way, in Rhoam's, case his only child. Don't worry, we'll plan a semi-small wedding, and it will be planned in two months, and we can have it in three."
