A young man of at least 20 in plebeian-ly clothing walked down the lively and colorful street of Paris. He didn't seem to be in any hurry, looking peaceful even. A ripple of dark brown hair brushed his dark arching brows over a pair of blue eyes, shielded behind a pair of glasses. His handsome features fitted an aristocracy. He also had a slightly darker skin commonly of Spanish origin.
The young man seemed disinterested in his surroundings. His eyes were fixed on a piece of gray paper that had such went brushing past his worn black shoes. He bent over and gently picked it up. A part of it was tattered and unreadable, but it clearly read "Mademoiselle Eugènie Claire-Marie of New York – Last Performance via Opera House". Obviously, it was an unknown fact that this could have been from weeks or even months back, while there was a probability that it was from yesterday's or today's issue of Daily Périodes. Whatever is was, the man carefully folded it and slipped it into his jacket.
"Monsieur Albert!" Called a vaguely familiar voice from behind.
"Maximilien," Albert Mondego engaged in a brotherly hug with the extremely tall young man who he hasn't seen for more than 5 years. Nothing has changed of him except a newly grown mustache and some additions to his colorful merit badges on his proud chest. Albert smiled at Max's beaming face.
"Have you visited Mlle Eugènie yet?" Max Morrel asked as they settled at a nearby café.
Albert shook his head and removed his glasses. "I think it's better to leave each other alone for a while," he replied. To say the truth, he felt he didn't have the right.
Max nodded gravely. He suddenly alerted, as if he was electrocuted on his back. "Monsieur Albert, have you heard about Valentine?" He practically shouted, collecting some attention from diners around them.
"What?" Albert leaned in with curiosity. He had forgotten that they've already been married, and leaving the happiest marriage life he's ever seen.
"She's…she's pregnant!" Max whispered giddily, his cheeks turning pink. He seemed childish compared to his gigantic build.
Albert opened his eyes wide and grinned. He patted his hand on Max's broad shoulder. "Congrates, Max, I'm really grateful."
Maximilien seemed to have spotted something in his friend's eyes. "Is something wrong, Monsieur Albert?" He asked with furrowed brows.
"Nothing, how could anything be wrong at a great time like this?" Albert replied. To say the truth, he was feeling rather sick in the stomach and chest after his first gulp of coffee.
Max didn't seem too convinced, but carried on a light conversation with him.
Half an hour later, Albert's head began to spin. Max, this time aware of the dilemma his friend was having, ran by his side. "Monsieur Albert…?"
"I'm…f-fine…I…ugh…" Before he had a chance to brush Max off, his vision turned pitch black.
