Hey, everyone. Sorry for my delay in writing but this has been a strange year for me and no such a great one if I am being honest. I'm trying to get back into the swing of things so I hope you enjoy this chapter and I would love to know what you think. Not my longest but I just wanted to get back into things and felt the ending was a nice way to end this chapter.

Thank you for all the reviews and for being so brilliantly patient with me for so long. Thanks.

Enjoy and please review

All mistakes are my own

Garcia made her way up the stairs of Morgan's home and across the landing to Spencer's bedroom. She didn't knock because she already knew where he was in the room. Opening the door, she took a moment to take in all the books carefully placed on shelves and bookcases and smiled at the fact that Spencer knew almost of all of them by memory. A small sliver of light spilled from under the closet door. Gently, she pulled it open to find Spencer leaning against a beanbag with his knees up and a book resting on them. She didn't recieve a glance as she walked in and settled herself against the beanbag opposite him. The closet had become Spencer's safe space. Throughout the years, when nightmares had struck or memories had become too much, Spencer retreated into the closet and only came out when he was ready. Morgan had extended and widened the closet for his son after finding him in there so many time. Morgan and herself had turned it into Spencer's own personal haven and he let very few people enter it.

"Spencer, look at me," Garcia spoke softly as she brushed a strand of hair behind her ear. Spencer glanced up briefly but focused his eyes back on book. "Spencer, you need to talk. I know what happened at school today and we need to discuss it."

Spencer gritted his jaw and look at her properly. Garcia frowned as she took in his swollen cheek, swollen split lip, blackening eye and swollen knuckles. "He had no right to say what he did. He had no right to read my journal. The words inside are mine and he just mocked them. He said my mother was probably happy to die because it allowed her to get away from a freak like me. He said I was just a freak and would be just as crazy. He said she was a deranged bitch and it was my fault she died. He deserved what he got."

"Your mother would not want you fighting and you know that. He had no right to say those things to you or to read your journal but there are other ways of dealing with him. Look at your knuckles, baby boy. Your mother would not want you hurting yourself or hurting others. I know you miss her. It wasn't your fault what happened to her."

"Yes, it was," Spencer snapped before closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. "I'm sorry for snapping at you. It was my fault though. She's dead because of me. She survived what William did to her only to die because of my stupid mistake."

Tears began to fall down Spencer's cheeks as his breathing sped up and his bottom lip began to quiver. Garcia quickly shuffled over to his side and put her arms around him.

"Shhh...it's okay," she said before kissing the top of his head. "It wasn't your fault. It was an accident."

Spencer let out a sob as his mind dragged him back to that day and he closed his eyes as the memories rushed forward.

"NO! WHERE IS MY LITTLE BOY?!" Spencer heard his mother scream as he placed the lid back on the trash can at the side of the house. He rushed back to the front of the house only to see his mother already running towards the road. "SPENCER!"

He rushed down the path but froze as he watched a car hit his mother. Her body smashed into the windscreen before rolling off the hood of the car and hitting the ground with a thud. "MOM! NO!"

Spencer rushed to her side and fell to his knees, ignoring the way the road cut into his jeans and scraped his knees. His hands hovered over his mother as he watched a trickle of blood run from the corner of her mouth. The side of her head was covered in blood and her body looked like a shaken rag doll.

Spencer barely heard the driver of the car as the man shrieked. "Oh, shit! She just ran into the road. I had no time to stop!"

"Call a damn ambulance!" Reid screamed at him before looking down at his mother. "Mom, you're going to be okay. Morgan will be back from the store any second and he can help you. The ambulance will be here soon. Mom, just stay with me."

He watched as his mother slowly slid open her eyes, they wandered for a moment before settling on the face of her son. "Spencer, my little boy," she said in pained and wheezy voice.

"I'm here, Mom," he sobbed before taking in a shaky breath. "Just stay awake and you'll be okay."

"So proud," she coughed before her eyes drooped and her body became limp.

Spencer shook his head as he cradled her face in his hands. Blood coated his hands but he didn't care. He just wanted his mother to come back. The rise and fall of her chest had stopped, he checked her pulse and found nothing. He returned his hands to her face and refused to accept she was gone.

"MOM!" he screamed so hard his throat seared with pain.

"Spencer!" Morgan shouted as he screeched to a halt in his car and bolted over to Spencer. "Oh, God."

Spencer wiped his bloody hand across his cheek to try to clear the tears. A streak of blood printed itself on his face to become the companion to his tears. "The paramedics will come and they'll bring her back. Dad, they'll bring her back and everything will be okay."

Morgan wrapped his arms Spencer and began to pull him away. "Spencer, you need to come away. I'm so sorry but she's gone. You're in shock."

"No!"

Spencer opened his eyes to find himself back in the present. He didn't remember much after being dragged away screaming from his mother's body with her blood on his hands and face. He let Garcia hold him as he tried to control the pain inside of his heart. After a few minutes, he managed to calm himself down and brought himself out of her arms. She kept her arm around him as they leaned against the bean bag. "It's been just over a year and it still hurts so much."

"I know what it's like to lose your parents. I know the pain and I won't lie, it never truly goes away and that is something I am glad for. The pain reminds us just how much we loved that person and while it reminds us of what we have lost, it also helps us remember everything that person gave us. Your mother loves you. She's looking down from somewhere and keeping an eye on you. She would not want you to blame yourself for what happened. She fought so hard in life to give you a good life and you have to remember that. It was an accident."

"I left the door open though," he spoke in a haunted voice. "She was having a bad day and I should have been more careful. I was just taking out the trash. She thought someone had taken me like before."

"Baby boy, it was an accident and your mother is in a peaceful place now. Please, no more fighting. Morgan and I will deal with the school but you can't get in any other fights. You are not to blame for what happened to your mother. The pain won't ever fully go away but remember what I told you. I'm here too. I'm always here to talk to you and to make you smile. You have a big family around you and you can depend on each and every one of them."

Spencer looked into Garcia's eyes and gave her a small nod. "I won't fight anymore. I'm sorry. Thanks for talking to me. You always seem to have the right words to make me feel better."

"I'm your aunt," she chuckled softly. "I was put on this earth to make you smile and to kiss all your boo-boos better."

"I'm not little anymore, Garcia," he smiled softly.

"I know," she said. "You'll always be my baby boy though."
