Truth and Lies
(Back to the future-I mean real world...)
Kagura was quite pleased with herself. Not only had she disposed of an unnecessary neusance, but she had also managed to foil part of Naraku's plan. Yes, things were going quite well for her. If Sesshomaru decided to give the mirror to Inuyasha, then it was quite possible that the rest of her team would be sucked into the mirror as well. This would inevitably cause Naraku to let his guard down, giving her a chance to reclaim her heart. However, if Inuyasha found a way to bring Kagome back, then Naraku would not be prepared for the attack they were sure to launch. And if Sesshomaru decided to keep the mirror, then Inuyasha would come for Naraku anyways. That might pose a bit of a problem, but Kagura had a feeling she could work around that factor.
As her feather delicately landed on the barren wasteland of Naraku's new hiding place, a familiar face appeared out of the shadows to greet her.
"Naraku has summoned you, Kagura," the expressionless Kanna said.
"Is that so?" Kagura spoke nonchalantly. For some reason she felt a bit uneasy. Naraku had probably summoned her for her next mission, but an apprehensive feeling kept pushing at the back of her mind.
She gracefully headed towards the iron double doors that sealed away Naraku's regenerating body. She didn't know when his body would return to normal, but she suspected it would be sometime soon. As her wind pushed the heavy doors back, a lightning fast tentacle shot out and wrapped around her neck, pulling her into the dark abyss of her master's chambers.
Kagura desperately clawed at the tight appendage, but her efforts were in vain as more of the slimy arms wrapped around her wrists and ankles. The wind sorceress began to panic as the deep chuckle of her captor wrang through the dark room.
"Well, if it isn't my manipulative little servant Kagura, back from another failed mission."
A hand appeared out of the darkness as it roughly grabbed her chin and forced her to look into the blood red eyes that controlled her fate.
"But this time I anticipated your little slip-up and prepared for it."
Kagura's eyes went wide as Naraku's famous smirk appeared on his lips.
"Tell me Kagura, what will happen if I tell Inuyasha that his own brother has the mirror?"
Comprehension hit Kagura like a rock as she bowed her head at the gravity of Naraku's words.
"For now, it seems, you need to be reminded of your place. I suggest you reflect on your actions for a while before I let you out again."
Naraku rose and turned towards a darkened corner of the room.
"Kanna, make sure you do not fail me as she has."
The small girl appeared and bowed her head slightly before she left Kagura to the cruel hands of their master.

Sesshomaru looked down at the expectant girl who was definetely hoping he would say "yes" to her question.
The demon lord glanced at the brightly colored field that lay just beyond the trees they had stopped to rest at. He wanted to reach his brother by nightfall, but something about those big brown eyes of Rin's turned Sesshomaru's strict determination to mush.
"Hnn, take no more than ten minutes," he said as sternly as possible, which in all honesty wasn't that stern. Her big brown eyes somehow grew even bigger as she joyously skipped to the beautiful meadow. Sesshomaru watched her croon over the various types of flowers for a while before settling back against the tree he was lounging against. He slowly closed his eyes to enjoy the brief moment of peace that was afforded him. But that moment didn't last long.
Suddenly, the taiyoukai's keen sense caught the brief scent of another presence. Sesshomaru came to full alert, quickly glancing around the meadow for any sign of danger that might attack Rin. But the girl was the only thing in sight, sound, and smell.
The girl must have noticed him watching, for when their eyes met, she started walking towards him. Sesshomaru somehow found it odd that she wasn't skipping, but when he noticed she didn't have any flowers either, he began to suspect that something wasn't right.
The girl's eyes had lost all their former joy, and stared back at him with an unreadable look. Sesshomaru was suddenly awoken from his pondering when the little girl asked, "Might I see the mirror, Sesshomaru-sama?"
The taiyoukai was quite surprised by this question. From what he assessed of her reaction to the mirror the first time, he assumed she wanted nothing to do with the object. Apparently, he was wrong.
Curious of what she might do with it, he slowly handed the mirror to the small hands of the girl.
"Do not drop it," he said warningly as she began to back away.
"Thank you, Sesshomaru-sama. Your cooperation has been most helpful."
Sesshomaru's eyes widened as comprehension came to light.
"What have you done with Rin," the taiyoukai said slowly and dangerously as he began to crack his claws in warning.
The figure of Rin shimmered until the pale girl named Kana stood in her place. "The girl is unharmed. You will find her just beyond the field," the emotionless girl said quietly as a circle of light formed under her, quickly pulling her in and the mirror along with it.
Sesshomaru decided to let Naraku have his way for the time being, since Rin had not been hurt. He quickly found her sleeping in a bed of flowers. Instead of waking her, he gently picked her up and headed towards Ah-Un, determined to find Inuyasha as quickly as possible.

When Inuyasha had returned from Kagome's, Miroku had instantly known something was wrong. He had hoped that it was just a romantically involved quarrel that would straighten itself out sooner or later, but when Inuyasha had delivered the news of Kaggome's disappearance, Miroku's apprehension turned into panic. Not only was she the key to finding the sacred jewel shards, but she was possibly the only one who had the spiritual power, besides Kikyou, to defeat Naraku. He also worried about how Sango and Shippo would fare without their friend. Sango cared for her like a close sister, and Shippo saw her as the mother he had lost long ago, not to mention, Miroku was also very fond of the girl himself. Miroku had always been the voice of reason and understanding in the group, but how was he supposed to keep the rest of them calm when he also was as scarred as they were.
"Inuyasha, can you pick up her scent at all?" the monk question hesitantly.
The furiously pacing hanyou stopped long enough to answer, "The only place her scent leads is to that damn well!" His ears cocked at odd angles as he took up his pacing once more. "It doesn't make sense! I woulda noticed if Naraku or someone else had taken her!"
"Inuyasha, we have to stay calm. Let's go back to the well and see if we can find a clue about where she has gone."
The hanyou looked as though he would protest, then furrowed his brow and nodded gravely.
When the group reached the well, Miroku directed Inuyasha, Kirrara, and Shippo to sniff around the forest surrounding the well, while he and Sango searched for visual clues. Not long after, Sango called the group over to examine two barely noticeable dents in the earth.
"They look like slash marks, but I'm certain this was not the work of an animal, nor the claws of a youkai," the expert hunter said. "They almost look like..."
Inuyasha put his nose to the ground and growled low. "Kagura," he spat, rising quickly.
Miroku frowned, knowing this had to be another one of Naraku's schemes. But why did Kagura's marks and Kagome's scent lead back to the well? Something was not adding up. Before Miroku could ponder any further, Inuyasha's feral growl caught his attention as he whipped around to find Kanna standing a little ways off in the clearing.
She gazed expressionlessly at them before stating, "My master wishes to inform you that the answers for the priestess you seek lie with Sesshomaru-sama. At this moment he holds her captive within a mirror. I have delivered my message." The girl vanished as quickly as she had arrived.
Inuyasha stopped growling and turned to the monk. "Why would the bastard want her?!" he shouted in exasperation. "If he's done anything to Kagome I'll kill him!"
"Calm down Inuyasha," the man soothed. "You're right, there is no sense in your brother taking Kagome. Our...alliance with him is delicate, and I doubt he would do anything, especially this, to compromise it. Naraku is quite clearly baiting us into a trap. The best course of action would be to find Sesshomaru and see what he has to say. He might have information that we could use to help find Kagome."
Inuyasha's tense body slowly began to relax as the good sense of the monk began to sink in. He gave the air a quick sniff before curtly stating, "We don't need to find him. He's coming to us."
