The Ultra 10 Chronicles: Volume 2: A Hero Earth Needs

Chapter 48: Aftermath

"You have my terms," Vilgax spoke with venom in his voice. "Act wisely." With that, the image of the squid disappeared, leaving everyone within the sound or sight of his message in utter shock.

"He's got to be bluffing," Ben said, completely in shock at this new development. "Even Vilgax isn't insane enough to level New York City."

"Hold on, I'm going to try to see if I can get eyes on the city," Cooper said, clearly in shock himself. After a few tense moments of him typing on his computer, he grumbled in frustration. "I can't find any satellite that's got a camera on the area. None that are responding, at least."

"He couldn't have done that, could he?" Ellie asked.

"I'll just have to turn into JetRay and see for myself," Ben decided as he activated the Omnitrix. In a flash of green light, he emerged as the flying amphibian. Exiting the cabin, Ben took off into the sky in a blur of movement.

"Ben, where are you?" Maddi asked. "The surveillance grid is having a hard time tracking your movement."

"I'm just about leaving the state," Ben replied, his voice a little choppy from moving at such a high speed. "I'll be in New York City in a couple of minutes."

"Arcamada, Book of Spells, I summon you," Gwen chanted, the swirl of mist producing the old spell book in her hands. "I'll see if there's a spell in here to let me see that far away." She started flipping through the pages, before coming upon a particular spell.

"Aha!" Gwen said. "Here it is!" She quickly read the page before chanting the words. "Locum procul videre New York City." Her eyes glowed blue as the vision overtook her sight.

"Oh shit," Gwen muttered. "Guys, it's happening right now."

"What is? What's happening?" Julie eagerly questioned.

"Vilgax is firing on the city," Gwen described. "His laser blasts are smashing through the skyscrapers and into the roads. People are dying… It's… it's just horrible!" Gwen forced her eyes shut, the blue glow fading away until finally, she opened her eyes, revealing that she had her own green eyes back. "I can't watch it."

"We've got to try to help those people," Cooper said. "Even if it's going to be ugly."

"Can you teleport us that far?" Ellie asked Gwen.

"I'm not so sure," Gwen admitted. "It's a long way, and the farther away it is, the more mana it exhausts to cast the spell."

"Can you try?" Cooper asked.

"Guys, I'm just arriving outside the city," Ben's voice came through the comm link. "Vilgax wasn't lying at all. The city is under fire!"

"I, I can try," Gwen reassured herself. She flipped through the Arcamada Book of Spells still in her hands, until she came on her teleportation spell. "Cooper, Ellie? Gather in a circle, and chant with me. I'm going to need all the help I can get to cast this spell." The three sat in a circle, while Julie and Maddi took a few steps back, just for good measure.

"Locum procul teleportum… Locum procul teleportum… Locum procul teleportum…" Gwen started chanting, with Cooper and Ellie joining in. Purple strands of mana encircled the trio, spinning faster and faster creating a kind of barrier.

"Maddi, stay back," Julie cautioned the girl as they both stepped another couple of feet away from the incantation circle. There was a breeze that picked up, even though they were still inside the cabin.

The floor they were sitting on turned the same color of purple, magical energy crackling through it. The breeze shot towards the portal, being the first to defy physics by passing through the floor completely unhindered. As the vortex sped up, the three began to sink down into the floor, and through the portal. The moment that the top of Cooper's head disappeared through the floor, the wind died down, and the purple portal began to condense in size, shrinking until it vanished from view, as though nothing had happened.

"Come on, you guys," Gwen told Cooper and Ellie as she stood up from the ground, or whatever it was that they were standing on. It was various colors of brown, red, black, orange, purple and blue. It was as if they were inside of a color-confused rainbow. Or perhaps a virus-ridden video game from the Eighties. Some of the colors ran in long streaks, others criss-crossed back and forth, like they were drawn by an army of toddlers. Still, other patches were pixilated squares of solid or mixed colors, or would flash from one color to the next.

"Where are we?" Ellie asked in wonder.

"This is the inner-dimension," Gwen answered. "It's kind of a pit-stop in-between spells."

"So this is where mana comes from?" Cooper asked. Gwen shook her head.

"Not to my knowledge. Everything I've read says that mana is life energy, and is created by all living things," Gwen recited from her memory. "This is just where the magical pathways cross. So teleportation spells naturally lead here."

"So we're in some kind of magical dimension?" Ellie asked.

"Yes, but not entirely," Gwen answered. "It's not quite that simple." She started walking through the expanse of bizarre shapes and colors. Cooper and Ellie quickly followed behind her.

"Physically, yes, we're in the inner-dimension. But our auras, our souls, are still at your cabin," Gwen continued with her explanation. "We teleported our bodies here, and now we've got to find our exit, where the teleportation spell ends."

"So we've got to walk to New York?" Cooper asked.

"Yeah, but space isn't the same here," Gwen said. "We've got to find our spell, and follow it to the exit. That is where New York City will be. Once we emerge, we will be in NYC."

"So why is it so difficult to cast, if you just have to find your spell?" Ellie asked.

"Our auras are still in Bellwood. The farther away from them we are, and the longer we are separated from them, the more that we'll have to draw on it to sustain ourselves," Gwen answered. "The separation isn't difficult, it's the reconnect. We don't want to loose our bodies, or get them mixed up once we exit the inner-dimension. That's the reason that every spell-caster doesn't use teleportation for everything. It can get dangerous." Right then Gwen pointed at a ribbon of purple energy, wiggling through the floor.

"There's our spell," she said. "We've just got to follow it!" The three of them followed the purple ribbon for several yards until it ended, simply cutting off.

"Now what?" Ellie asked.

"We've reached the end of the spell, our destination," Gwen explained.

"So what? We just walk forward or something?" Cooper asked. Gwen smiled.

"Or something, yes. We've got to exit one at a time in order to keep our auras from getting mixed up. Cooper? Would you like to go first?" Cooper shrugged his shoulders. He reached his hand forward, not feeling anything in front of him.

"You have to walk there, silly," Gwen told him. "This is a teleportation spell. If it was a spell about feeling or grabbing something, you'd feel something. You just have to walk into it."

"Of course," Cooper muttered sarcastically. "Why would it be anything else?" He took a step forward, and instantly vanished.

"Ellie, you're next," Gwen told her. Ellie took a deep breath and took a step forward, vanishing just like Cooper had. Gwen just about took a step forward when she heard an angry roar behind her. She glanced behind her shoulder at the sound.

"Thank goodness we didn't run into one of those," she whispered. Then she stepped forward, vanishing into an intense purple light. Immediately, she stepped out the other side, stepping onto the grass beneath her feet. In front of her, Cooper and Ellie were standing in the grass, looking as though they couldn't decide whether to fall over from dizziness, or if they were about to be sick.

"Transportation sickness," Gwen said, shaking the slight dizziness from her head. "It gets better the more you teleport." She looked up, out into the distance where she could see the skyline of skyscrapers of New York City, which were in a state of destruction.

"Come on, we've got to get to the city!" She said. The Charm of Telekinesis on her hip began to glow. Her mana was too drained at the moment to fly, but she still could telekinetically move herself to imitate running at super speeds.

"Okay," Cooper said, sounding like he was still trying to shake off the dizziness. "Ellie, do you still have Maddi's NanoMech armor?" Ellie nodded her head, pulling the metallic rectangle out of her pocket, showing it to Cooper.

"Alright, it should meld seamlessly with the kit I programmed for you," Cooper reminded her. "Just hold it in your hand, and open up Maddi's armor, and they'll do the rest." Ellie nodded, pulling out the small cube of metal out of her other pocket, and gripping it in her fist. In her other hand, she opened up Maddi's NanoMech armor, watching the armor unfold to cover her body. As soon as they came into contact with the metallic cube in her other hand, they sparked a little bit, before seemingly to liquify. In a moment, it continued to unfold over her body, creating a body armor that was identical to Maddi's Steel Girl suit.

Cooper pulled out his own suit, opening it up and waiting for his suit to unfold and expand over his body. After a moment, they were both armored up, and ready for action.

"We'll meet you in the city. Our top objective is to save as many people as we can." Cooper said to Gwen, who nodded before she sprinted off, running at a speed faster than anyone could naturally run. Then, to Ellie, "Let's fly." His suit's back morphed, adjusting itself to form the jetpack, which fired, sending Cooper into the sky.

"Alright, suit," Ellie said, somewhat unsure of using the NanoMech suit. "Do what he did, and follow him!" The suit responded to her command, forming similar jet thrusters on her back, and firing them, sending her into the sky. Within a hour while, she had caught up to Cooper, and was quickly coming to understand her suit.

"Are you guys there?" Julie asked through the built-in comm link.

"Gwen teleported us just outside of uptown New York," Cooper said. "We're flying over suburbs now, heading for downtown."

"Thanks for the update," Julie replied. "How about you, Gwen?"

"I'm traveling over ground," Gwen said, a slight panting in her voice. "I'm behind Cooper and Ellie, but I'll be entering the midtown shortly."

"We do have one satellite that came online," Maddi reported. "I'm realigning it to be able to give us some eyes on the city. It'll be a little bit before it's in position, though."

"Just let us know as soon as it's in position," Cooper replied. "The city is massive, and it will be helpful in assessing the parts hardest hit."

"Are you guys here yet?" Ben asked through his comm link. "I'm doing my best at clearing a safe-zone for the survivors I find, but any help would be quite appreciated!"

"Just arriving at the destruction," Cooper responded. He landed on the destroyed sidewalk next to a giant crater in the ground. The jetpack in his back rearranged itself into an arm-cannon, which he started to use to blast away at the rubble, trying to clear a safe-zone of his own.

"I'm heading farther downtown," Maddi said. "Let me know if you need some assistance!"

"Affirmative," Cooper replied. He heard several panicked cries from a partially collapsed building. His arm-cannon disappeared into his armor.

"My name is Morph, I'm here to help!" Cooper shouted out. "I'm going to try to remove the rubble from the entrance, so watch out!" The jet thrusters which had previously been on his back now formed at his elbows, firing off to give him more lifting power as he picked up the largest concrete slab that was covering the exit from the building.

"Hngh!" Cooper grunted as he strained to lift the heavy slab.

Ben floated through the streets as the GhostFreak, looking for any sounds from trapped people. As soon as he found some, he landed, pressing the Omnitrix badge on his chest, transforming into FourArms. With a grunt, he lifted up the mass of concrete, steel and plastic that was blocking the people into the collapsed skyscraper.

"Out!" Ben shouted as soon as he hefted the mass of rubble over his head. "Everybody, get out before it collapses!" There were about twenty or so dirty and bleeding people who quickly did as he commanded, weaving in-between his legs as they rushed to get out of the building. As soon as the last one got out, Ben carefully set down the mass he had been holding over his head.

"There's a clearing down the road a ways," Ben pointed in the direction indicated. "It's free from dangerous structures. You all should be safe there. See to your hut ones there." The small group of survivors ran off that way, several of them being helped along due to their injuries. Ben looked around, seeing a police car that was still fairly intact, even though a slab of concrete had smashed through the roof. Ben ran over to it, lifting off the concrete slab, and tossing it away.

Inside he saw the two now-deceased officers. The driver's head had been smashed from the ceiling caving in when the concrete slab had fallen on the roof. The passenger looked like he had been slumped over when the ceiling had caved in, preventing him from having his head smashed in as well. However, it looked as though he had died previous to his partner, his ribcage being smashed in at a disgusting angle, and blood staining his shirt. He had been outside the vehicle when he'd been crushed by falling rubble.

"I'm sorry for your sacrifice," Ben muttered as he removed the two cops as gently as he could, while still acting quickly. With one in one of his four hands, and the other in another, he laid them on the ground, before reaching up to the Omnitrix badge on his shoulder. In a flash of green light, he was Upgrade. Without sparing a moment, Ben merged with the police car, immediately upgrading the vehicle to be functional again. Ben turned on the siren and lights, and activated the loudspeaker.

"Anyone who can hear this, follow the sound! The hero Ultra 10 is here to help get you to safety!" Ben blared the message along with the siren and lights as he navigated the rubble-filled streets.

"Fabrico est doga golem," Gwen chanted again. She was beginning to tire out, after casting this same spell nearly a dozen times in so short a time. Out of the nearby pile of concrete and dirt a creature clawed its way to the surface, standing in front of Gwen.

"Find any survivors, and get them out of danger," Gwen commanded the golem. The creature groaned an acknowledgment turned, and plodded off, to obey his creator's command. As it left, Gwen felt a bit of her mana leave with it. It felt like she'd just sprinted. Not exhausting, but not an easy feat. Still, with the amount of golems she'd created, it was starting to exhaust her. She'd have to rely on simpler spells for the time being, to give her mana a chance to refill.

"Bombarda!" Gwen shouted at a large concrete slab resting over the crumbling wall of a nearby building. The concrete exploded, raining concrete dust and pebbles all around. "Come on, this way to safety!" Gwen shouted into the building. Several people climbed out of the collapsed building. One of the last ones out of the hole tried to stand up, only to collapse onto the ground.

"What's the matter?" Gwen asked him.

"My ankle," he replied. "I think it's broken. It was crushed when the building was hit by those lasers." Gwen helped the man out of the hole, pulling his arm over her neck. The two of them made their way out of the hole, and clear of most of the rubble. She sat the man down on a concrete boulder that was on the sidewalk. Several of the people who had gotten out earlier came towards the man with a coat between them. They placed the man in the coat like a stretcher, and carried the injured man on their backs.

"That way there is a clearing with some more survivors," Gwen told one of the people carrying the impromptu stretcher, pointing down a street. "I've magically created some creatures to search for survivors, so don't be too frightened. They're here to help."

"Thank you," one woman told her. "You saved our lives."

"I'm just doing what anyone would do," Gwen replied. "Now go, there'll be more people who can help with the injured guy." The group made their way through the destroyed street towards where Gwen had indicated the clearing was. Gwen wiped the sweat away from her forehead. This much spell casting was seriously taking a toll on her endurance.

Hours later, police, EMTs and firefighters from neighboring cities were finally making their way into the destroyed New York City, doing their best to clear pathways through the rubble as they could. Thousands of people from the neighboring cities came too, doing their best to traverse the ruins of the metropolis on foot, clearing the way for police cars, as well as searching for survivors themselves. It was still a momentous task, but at least they were making progress.

The satellite that Maddi and Julie had gotten to focus over the area was incredibly helpful in coordinating where the team were searching, and in relaying that information to the people looking for survivors through the city. Several hours after that, Ben spied several PLUMMER agents combing through the rubble for survivors, using their exoskeletons to move the rubble and clear the roads. Finally, almost an entire day after they had begun the search and rescue, Team Ultra met up in what used to be Central Park to coordinate.

"Guys? Are you here yet?" Ben asked into his comm link.

"Just getting there," Gwen's voice came back through the speaker. Overhead, Ben saw Cooper and Ellie fly into the clearing which had been made by one of Vilgax's laser shots. The two landed in front of Ben.

"How is the downtown doing?" Cooper asked Ben as soon as he saw him.

"It was hit hard," Ben replied. "Everything is so close together, it just created a deathtrap for anyone unfortunate to be nearby. What about your areas?"

"Uptown was more spread out," Cooper replied. "Generally smaller buildings too, so there were a lot more survivors, thankfully." Ellie nodded.

"That's right, we've been leading cops to the clearings for hours. Thankfully, most everyone has survived so far as we've been able to tell," she reported. "Still, a lot of people have died." As they were talking, Gwen finally arrived, stumbling into the grove. She looked beyond awful. Her eyes and cheeks were shrunken into her face, and her arms and legs were somewhat thinner, almost looking like she were malnourished. She was dirty and exhausted, even more so than the rest of the team.

"Oh my goodness," Ellie gasped out when she spotted Gwen, causing Ben and Cooper to follow her line of sight towards Gwen too. Ben was the first to her side.

"What the heck happened?" Ben asked her.

"Mana is life energy," Gwen said shakily. "My mana is pretty depleted. But it'll come back, eventually."

"That's it, Gwen, you're off search and rescue until you've rested and eaten," Cooper said. Ben and Ellie agreed. Gwen just nodded her head.

"Take her," Ben said, handing Gwen to Cooper and Ellie. Raising his wrist, Ben activated the Omnitrix, vanishing in a flash of green light. "WildVine!"

Without wasting a single moment, Ben began using his plant-based powers to grow a protective hedge of vines and thorns around them as a barrier to anything that would try to get in. In the center of the small enclosure, a bundle of vines intertwined into a cot, which Cooper and Ellie set Gwen on.

"This place will be safe enough for a couple of days," Ben said in WildVine's rough voice. "Long enough for Gwen to get her strength back. Palming the Omnitrix, Ben changed into HeatBlast and ignited a bundle of vines he'd placed off to the side of the enclosure. He palmed the badge again, resorting to his human form.

"I'll find her some food," Ellie volunteered. "I'm sure there's more than a few restaurants around here. Or, whatever's left of them." Her suit formed its jetpack, and she fired it, off to search through the rubble. Ben and Cooper also left the shelter to let Gwen get some rest.

"What do you make of the PLUMMERs moving into the downtown area?" Cooper asked.

"Nothing good. They're probably still looking for me, and if they catch either of you, they'll probably take you too," Ben responded. "We're going to have to get back to Bellwood soon. Probably tomorrow to avoid the PLUMMER agents." Cooper nodded.

"Then as soon as Gwen is starting to look better, we move out. But I think that we don't rely on her magic to get home," Cooper said.

"My transformations could be dangerous as well," Ben said. "Last time Vilgax attacked, he had some ability to track me whenever I transformed. So we're going to have to rely on your NanoMech suits." Cooper agreed with him.

"Then we fly out tomorrow morning. The suits are pretty impressive, but they're not designed to carry two people. So we're going to have take it a bit at a time," Cooper replied. "You'd better stay here and look after Gwen. Only use your Omnitrix if you need it. I don't think that Vilgax has been tracking your transformations yet, but there's no telling when he will start." Ben nodded his head.

"I'll let you know if we see any agents, or Vilgax drones. But, with any luck, tomorrow we'll be out of here." Cooper nodded, and started his jetpack, blasting off into the sky. As soon as he'd left, Ben called Julie on his comm link.

"Hey, Julie," Ben greeted her. "We've gotten everyone out of the worst parts of the city, and the police and the PLUMMERs are making their way through the rest of the city. We're going to be heading out starting tomorrow. But Gwen and I are hitching rides from Cooper and Ellie, to prevent Vilgax from tracking me."

"Thanks for the heads-up," Julie responded. "Maddisen and I are still in Ellie's cabin, and I can try to drive a ways out to pick two of you up."

"How has Bellwood been?" Ben asked.

"The PLUMMERs have all but taken over all law enforcement," Julie replied. "I haven't seen any police around town when I've got into town. But regardless of that, people are not capitulating. A lot of people are being arrested, but there's still a feeling of unease."

"I don't like where this is going," Ben replied, before ending the communication.

PLUMMER Headquarters

Alpha sat at his desk, going over the reports that had been given to him on Maxwell Tennyson and Sarah Wheels' actions. His phone rang, disrupting him from his musings. He reached over and pocked up the receiver.

"What is it?" He answered, not even caring who had called his office.

"Alpha, this is Phil Billings, Agent 18. My men have been working with the local law enforcement and volunteers to search through the remains of New York City for survivors."

"How is that progressing?" Alpha asked.

"Thankfully, Vilgax targeted primarily the downtown areas, rather than the whole metropolitan area," Phil reported. "So the destroyed areas were rather contained. Still, we've pulled hundreds of survivors out. Many of them said that they were found by either Ultra 10, or his team."

"Have you reminded them that it is the PLUMMERs that are getting them to safety?" Alpha replied, testily.

"Yes sir, but they are still talking about the young hero."

"He is not a hero, he is a vigilante," Alpha reminded him.

"Yes, sir," Phil corrected. "But the image of a young kid with superpowers rescuing them is still spreading."

"Have any of your men seen Ultra 10 or his team?"

"No sir. If he's been avoiding us, he's been fairly effective," Phil responded.

"If we are to stop the invasion, we have to turn him over to Vilgax," Alpha responded. "Which makes him our top priority now. Even more than search and rescue. People can be arrested and silenced. But the idea of Ultra 10 has to be stopped. And Vilgax makes a convenient scapegoat for us."

"Yes, sir," Phil responded.

"Let me know when your men find Ultra 10," Alpha said, ending the communication. Alpha stood up from his desk, gathering his notes, and exited the room, moving towards the detention area.

Minutes earlier, in the detention area of PLUMMER Headquarters

"No, Max, I'm not going to lie to get out of this," Sarah argued with her partner. "You chose to smuggle Ultra 10 out, and I chose to help you. I'm not going to abandon you now."

"Listen to me, Sarah," Max told his junior partner. "You've got to get out of here, and let me take the full blame." Sarah shook her head.

"It's not only about taking the blame," Max continued. "I need someone I can trust inside the organization. Whatever happens to me, Ultra's team needs someone that they can trust, and the PLUMMERs need someone with a clear head to keep them from going the route that they are heading."

"But Max, I still can't just abandon-"

"Wes Green," Max whispered. "I'd trust him with my life. He will be your ally inside-" Their secret conversation was cut short by the door opening, with Alpha walking inside the detention area, followed by Agent 01, and several security agents. Alpha strode confidently over to their cell.

"I've just received authorization from the executive board to execute capital punishment on those who are sabotaging our security efforts on the planet. That would include you and your partner here." Alpha looked over the two of them.

"Let Agent 44 go," Max told Alpha. "I used my rank over her to force her to help me." Alpha looked skeptically at Max. "It's true, just ask her." Alpha glanced at Sarah.

"It's… true," Sarah breathed out defeatedly, tears blurring her eyesight. "He threatened to get me demoted if I didn't cooperate…"

"Agent 44 hasn't been as defiant as Agent 10 in the past," Agent 01 told Alpha. "It's entirely possible that she was cohered by Maxwell. I'm certain that she can become a loyal agent again." Alpha looked deep in thought for a moment.

"Very well," he finally said. "Agent 44 will be passed over for promotion, despite the new vacancy of Agent 10. And she'll be assigned to work under Agent 12."

"Phil?" Max asked.

"That's right," Alpha said. "I trust that Phil will keep her in line." Alpha looked over to Agent 01. "Agent 44 is free to go. I want some alone time with Maxwell." Clyde nodded, and motioned for the security agents to unlock the door and remove Sarah. Clyde followed the security agents out of the room.

"You had so much potential, Max," Alpha told him as soon as the door behind them had closed. "You, more than any other agent I expected to eventually replace me. But now look at yourself. You've thrown you position and power away for some bratty kid playing dress-up with a stolen alien watch."

"Stolen implies that it belongs to you," Max responded. "The Omnitrix never belonged to you."

"It is alien tech on Earth, which makes it PLUMMER property. And I am the head of the PLUMMERs, therefore, it is mine," Alpha scoffed indignantly.

"The board of executives are the head of the PLUMMERs," Max fired back.

"The board gave me authority to remove anyone that I deemed a threat to the security of Earth," Alpha startled Max with the sudden statement. "And the endless debates about morality that the board constantly argue about certainly can be viewed as a threat to our effectiveness at securing the Earth."

"Then you…" Max stuttered.

"The Board of Executives is no longer a threat to our operations," Alpha said coldly. "And neither are you. Your execution will be tomorrow at noon." With that, Alpha turned away, exiting the detention area, leaving the room in total darkness.

"You must be stopped," Max muttered to himself. "Please Sarah, please find a way to stop him."

Back in Alpha's personal office

Alpha closed the door to his office, locking it. Sitting down at his desk, he opened his private communication channel and sent out a paging beacon. Within a few minutes, the signal was picked up, and his channel was paged through.

"What puny being is attempting to communicate with Vilgax, Conqueror of Ten Worlds?" The android spoke through the communicator.

"My name is Alpha, the head of the planetary garrison of PLUMMERs," Alpha said. "Tell your lord that I am willing to make a deal. The Earth, for Ultra 10." There was static on the line for a moment, before Vilgax's voice bellowed through.

"Alpha, leader of the PLUMMERs, you are very wise to agree to my terms," Vilgax boomed.

"And you are very generous to offer such terms," Alpha stroked his ego. "I promise to use all of my resources to find Ultra 10, and turn him over to you. In return, I want control over the planet as your governor, and protection under your empire." There was a moment of tense silence.

"Agreed," Vilgax's voice came back.

A/N:

That is it for this week. What were your thoughts about Alpha making a deal with Vilgax? Is Vilgax going to uphold his part of the deal, or is he going to break the deal? And what about Alpha, is he planning on double-crossing Vilgax too? Any other thoughts, ideas, projections? Leave them in a review! Also, if you have any critiques, leave them too! Don't forget to follow and favorite the story to stay up to date on chapter drops! Thanks for reading, and have an awesome day!

Review Responses:

Sesshoru: Ben, Gwen, Grandpa Max, Ben's father, and Gwen's father are the only ones that are able to wield the Omnitrix.

Thanks for the review! Canonically, I believe that you are correct. The Omnitrix is fused with Ben's DNA, and so only a close genetic relative of his would be able to use the Omnitrix. However, before the Secrets of the Omnitrix story, the Omnitrix was a highly-mystical object, and even many of the aliens then believed that they could wear the Omnitrix. Which, I took to mean that either the Omnitrix took a long time to fuse to Ben's DNA, becoming more combined with him as the years went on, or the restrictions and limitations on the Omnitrix weren't well known, if known at all, by the Galaxy. Perhaps both. This is Alpha's position. He knows what the Omnitrix does, but doesn't actually know whether or not he could actually wield the Omnitrix. Thanks for the correction though!

Ushindi: I knew Vilgax would come back not so soon. This is only the beginning of Vilgax terror. Things are about to be violent and dangerous! I'm happy Max and Sarah freed Ultra 10 from his prison, Alpha is no doubt going to be very angry. And I have changed my name from Amanny to Ushindi just for you to know.

Thanks for the review, and for letting me know about your name change! Yes, Alpha is angry, and is using both Max and Ben to further his agenda, which is beginning to be revealed this chapter. Now, not only is Ben avoiding Vilgax and the PLUMMERs, but they are going to be working together. This is truly a dark time for Earth, and for Team Ultra.

yraj2004: Oww! Looks like Vilgax Squished the Big Apple.

Poof! Gone! Just like that, Vilgax destroyed a city of over eight million people. Thanks for the review!
