Chapter 3: Dating Sims

Signal Warrior charged at my enemy and delivered powerful punch that sent my enemy flying.

And just like any other Free Duel that I've one, the enemy Duel Spirit turns into dust and scenery changes once again into a pure white landscape.

It has been a year since I've gain the Gamer ability. And during that time my [Relationship] of me and Mithra changed from Hate to Tolerates. We decided that hating on each other would do us no good, so we decided to burry the hatchet. I still insult her from time to time, but not as frequently in the past.

Also, during that time, I was able to finish a ton of [Challenges] and I was able to gain lot of cards and Dueling Points from it.
Some of these cards were Knightmare Cerberus from Linker lvl 1, Decode Talker from Linker lvl 2, Celestial Wolf Lord Blue Sirius from Synchronicity lvl 1, Signal Warrior from Synchronicity lvl 2, Crimson Blader from Synchronicity lvl 3, Mound of the Bound Creator from Pray to your God, and many others.
I also bought the Pre-Errata Ring of Destruction which costed 30,000 Dueling Points. Yeah, I know that I said that I wouldn't buy singles but Ring of Destruction was just perfect for Loki. Also, I decided to look up Master Peace, the True Dracoslaying King. His cost was almost the same as a anime Wicked God. The Funslaying King was a whopping 7,000,000 Dueling Points, a million behind The Wicked Eraser. Master Peace is truly the OCG/TCG version of a fucking God card. Why am I telling you this? I don't fucking know. I tend to go off topic.
Now where was I? Progress report! Right! During this year, I also bought a lot of Booster Packs. A lot of them were mostly trash but I was able to pull a Sangan and a Twin Twister from it though. I've also unlocked a ton of Boosters and Structure Decks. None of the Structure Decks caught my eye except for one in particular. Structure Deck: Fallen Gods which had the anime Sacred Beasts. Am I going buy it? I don't fucking know? I can't afford it.
It's price is 1,000,000 Dueling Points. I know right? 1,000,000 Who the fuck makes these prices? Whatever, I've decided to save up my money for the anime version of Sabatiel - Philosopher's Stone.
For those wondering what's effects were, it's basically a card that can search anything from your deck. That's why I fucking want it. I've also bought a Winged Kuriboh in tandem for it.
"It will probably take two to three of years, but I'm willing to wait."
It costs 500,000 Dueling Points. I currently have 171,920 Dueling Points thanks to Masumi. But I'm pretty satisfied with my deck right now, so I'm noy going to buy any cards until I get Sabitiel.
Why you might ask? Because I'll need every bullshit anime card that I can get to survive Z-arc's inevitably revival.

Like I said earlier, during this year I was able to finish ton of [Challenges]. [Quests] on the other hand is a different story. I've only been able to do the I am Legend quest which gave me a reputation boost to my [Relationships] and the Legend ability.
The Legend ability gives me a 50% chance to draw to draw the right card in the right situation. (Once per duel.) It's like a shittier version of the Destiny Draw ability given by the Structure Deck: Destiny's Call.
As for the Befriend Masumi quest... I'm working on it... It harder than you think. I'm not a fucking anime protagonist. I can't do the fucking talk-no-jutsu shit like Naruto. Cut me some slack.
Part 2
It's been a week since I made it my mission to befriend Masumi. I'm guessing you guys want to know of my progress? Well... If I was to describe it in one word, it would "Disappointment".
I tried to befriend her, but when I told her that I wanted to be friends with her, Masumi's reply was.
"Huh? W-What are you talking about idiot!?"
Yup, she went with the "Tsundere" reply. I'm not particularly familiar with the "Tsundere", I just know the basics of them because of a friend of mine in my past life that was utterly in love with "Tsundere" archetype.
Sooo... I decided to go with the only logical choice. I'm going to practice with Visual Novels with "Tsundere" heroine's.
Now you might be asking me this. Why Visual Novels of all things Shingo? You're making fucking excuses Shingo! You're just buying them because you're a fucking weeb, right Shingo!?
First of all yes, I'm fucking Weeb. Secondly, my line of thinking is pretty simple. Character's Visual Novels are basically almost the same as an 90% of modern day anime shows. Every female character is practically the same.
Practicing with "Tsundere" heroines will basically help me interact with a "Tsundere" anime girl like Masumi. I honestly didn't get this vibe from her in the show. But who am I to complain. That show had so many weird character developments by the end if that I'm not going to even bother Masumi's personally anymore. Look at Shun during the end. I was like WTF Shun! Your best friend (Yuto) and your sister (Ruri) that you wanted save for the entirety of the show is not coming back and your fine with it? You're just going to let Mr. Egao Mans, Yuya Sakaki egao talk you out of your hate? Cmon that's utter bullshit! Whooo! I'm ranting now! Fuck! This is why I love and hate Arc-V at the same time. Whatever, where was I?
Yes, onto the Visual Novels. How am I going to get them? I'll just ask my father to buy them from me.
"Hey dad can you buy me these games?"
I showed him My Charmer's can't be this cute, Harpie Lady Harem, and My Dragon Maids. 3 different Visual Novels in "Steam the Cloak", this world's version of Steam.
"For what reasons do you want these games Shingo?"
"Uhh... It's to help me with a girl."
I answered his question with only one of my reasons. I can't really tell him about this being a [Quest]. He'll probably think I'm crazy.
"Please dad, can you buy them from me?"
My father pauses for a moment before giving me a huge smile.
"Hahaha!"
He laughs then pats me in the head even though we are the same size. Yes my dad is a midget just like in the anime. I'm lucky that I inherited most of my mothers gene's.
"Of course! You're my son after all!"
I'll say it again. Getting reincarnated to Sawatari was, pun intended, a God send. Well then, time to fucking binged some Visual Novels! But first, some canned coffee! I can't really ask the servants make some for me because I'm just an eight year old. They'll probably say something like your to young for this master.
Part 3
"I'm finally fucking done!"
After a night of playing Visual Novels non-stop. I've come to a realization that there are two types of "Tsundere's". The "Classic Tsundere" and the "Modern Tsundere".
Now I get what you are thinking? Shingo, what's the difference between the Classic and the Modern? I'll give you a simple explanation. Classic is Tsun Tsun to Dere Dere (Changes) while Modern is Tsun to Dere to Tsun to Dere (Alternating). Masumi falls in the Modern territory, which is fucking means that its harder to befriend her.
"Master Shingo! It's almost time for school!"
What the hell? What time is it anyway? I looked at my clock and it revealed that it was 7:00 AM in the morning. It seems that I didn't sleep last night. Well shit...
I went to school tired as fuck, but was also a man ready to finally finish his fucking [Quests].
Part 4
After the end of my classes (In which I slept in a few of them.), I decided to wait for Masumi at the gate. Oh how the tables have turned during a year. I was now the one waiting for her... Whatever let's get this shit over with.
"Yo Masu-"
"I'm not going to be your friend."
Masumi interrupted me in a annoyed tone. I expected her to do that. But I have a plan. Tsundere's weakness is being direct.
"I'm not giving up! Please be my friend Masumi!"
"I told you I'm not-"
"You're cute!"
"Wha?!"
Masumi started to turn red due to her embarrassment. "Tsundere's" are also weak to compliments. Which was proven correctly by her reaction.
"I want you to be my friend!"
"Ah..."
"Ah?"
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"
Masumi ran past me with speeds that only an anime character is capable of. Ah shit... Maybe I overdid it.
"Wow, Sawatari is so cool!"
"He confessed his love to Masumi like it was nothing."
"Don't give up Sawatari! You'll get her!"
"Why are those girls so impressed about Sawatari?"
"I don't know, girls are weird."
It seems that there are some NPCs misunderstanding the situation here. Whatever, I don't really fucking care what I relevant side character's think. They can start all the rumors for all I care.
"Welp time to head home for now."
Phase one of my Befriend Masumi plan is finished.
Part 5
A week has passed since a began my [Quest] on befriending Masumi. And just as I predicted, it was going to be hard. After I complimented her for the very first time, she began to avoid whenever I was near her vicinity. You're probably thinking, "Sawatari, you just made it worse!". Nope, you're fucking wrong!
Her [Relationship] with me changed from "Rival" to "?". Three questions marks means that she's confused right now. How do I know this? The same thing happened with Mithra, when we decided to stop antagonizing one another. But let's get back to the topic at hand. With Masumi having "?", it means that I can change it to "friend" if I play my cards right.
Tsundere's will normally break of you keep complementing them non-stop. Which was what I'm doing right now in Dueling Class.
"Nice win Masumi! As expected of my cute rival!"
"S-Shut up you idiot!"
Masumi blushes in embarrassment as she won against a classmate of ours. Nice "Tsundere" reaction by the way Masumi. I'm getting closer and closer to that sweet sweet [Quest] completion.
Part 6
After another week of me continuously barraging Masumi with compliments, she finally breaks.
"Why are you doing this!? Why do you want to become my friend all of a sudden?!"
Masumi asked me with a blushing red face. I want to finish my [Quests] because I want to win against Z-arc. That's main reason for doing this. But I can't really tell her that now, can I? So decided to offer her with one of my fake reasons. You might see me as a utter scumbag for doing this, but I'll do it anyways. I'll do anything to up my chances of surviving Z-arc and Academia, I don't want to die so early again. Let me live until I'm atleast 50 years old!
"You're determination won me over! Even though I defeated over and over, you never gave up! I honestly found you actions cute and endearing!"
Masumi blushing face became even redder one told her those words. Nice I'm getting close. Just a little more.
"Ah..."
"Please Masumi! Be my first friend!"
That was not technically true. I had lots of friends in my past life. But in this reality, if my plan succeeds, Masumi will be first quote on quote friend. It's not like I don't want to have any friends, but the NPCs here only want to be close to me because of my father's political position. But let's not dwell on that and focus on Masumi. Let's see how she replies.
"Fine... I'll be your friend..."
"Nice!"
"But... Only if you beat me in duel!"
"..."
Yup. It's not Yugioh when it doesn't result in a duel. Let's end this quickly.
Part 7
We decided to do our duel in a secluded area so that nobody could interrupt to two of us.
"You go first, Sawatari."
During our constant duels during the year. Masumi has learned that going second was the best way to play Gem-Knight. Heck! She almost beat one time, because I was still hiding my Polar Gods and my Link monsters from the masses. If I'm going to reveal them it has to be in front of crowd! I want it to be fucking epic!
"Duel."
"Duel!"
We both activated our duel disks. Have ever told you about my custom Kaiba DSOD duel disk? Damn, I love it so much.
"Very well, I hope you don't regret this my cute rival."
"Aaa..."
To easy, now to destroy her and finish my [Quest].
Shingo's turn

I looked at my 5 cards and smiled. Nice nice!
"I'll Special Summon Jormungardr the Nordic Serpent to your side of the field in DEF position!"
(Jormungardr the Nordic Serpent/DARK/Level 8/Dragon/Effect/ATK 3000/DEF 3000)
A disfigured Serpent suddenly coiled around Masumi. Her widened once she saw my monster.
"What this? I've never seen you use this monster before."
"It's a hard monster to utilize so can't really use it against you."
I told the surprised girl. Funnily enough I've never summoned this monster against Masumi during the 57 times that we dueled. Yep, I counted.
"Now, I'll Special Summon another monster to your side of the field in DEF position! Appear! Fenrir the Nordic Wolf!"
(Fenrir the Nordic Wolf/DARK/Level 10/Beast/Effect/ATK 4000/DEF 4000)
A large wolf appeal with white and blue fur manifested on Masumi side of the field just like how Jormungardr did. Fenrir glared at Masumi as it did not acknowledge her as it's master.
"What are you planning by giving me these high level monsters?"
Due to Me and Masumi constantly dueling over the past year, she has learned the never doubt any of my plays. It always results in her losing after all.
"Don't worry you'll find out during your turn. Which is soon. I'll set a card then end my turn."
Shingo's hand: 2 cards
Masumi frowns as she reluctantly begins her turn
Masumi's turn
"My turn draw!"
Masumi's LPs: 4000
Masumi's hand: 6
Masumi smiles at the cards that were in her hand, but her mood changes once her Standby Phase begins.
"During the Standby Phase, Fenrir will change all the monsters that you control to ATK position! Howl of the God Slayer!"
Awooooo!
"Ack!"
Ferrir changes to ATK position then unleashes an extremely loud howl that forces Jormungardr to ATK position. Masumi was forced to cover her ears due to how loud Fenrir was.
"Now onto the next part to my combo, when Jormungardr is changed from DEF to ATK position, Jormungardr's controller will take 3000 damage! Mortal Coil!"
Jormungardr suddenly squeezes Masumi causing her to scream in pain.
"Kyaaah!"
Masumi's LPs: 4000 to 1000
"Onto the final part of my combo! I'll activate my set card, Ring of Destruction! This card will allow me to target a monster on the field and destroy it!"
I then pointed at Jormungardr the Nordic Serpent who was still crushing Masumi with it's body. And as I did that, a necklace made out of grenades appeared around the deformed serpent's neck.
"In addition to destroying a monster! Both of us will take damage equal to the ATK of the destroyed monster!"
"Wait! That means!"
"Yup! You lose my cute rival! Jormungardr has 3000 ATK so both of us will take 3000 damage!"
As soon as I explained that, the grenades around Jormungardr's neck exploded. Which caused me and Masumi to be blown back by resulting shockwave caused by the explosion.

"Guh!"

It was an basically FTK because Masumi's wasn't able to do anything. Fun fact, this was the second time that I pulled this combo off. The first one was a duel against the duel spirit, Junk Warrior. But I digress. Let's meet up with Masumi who on the ground due to my Ring of Destruction card.
"Yo! Cute rival are you okay?"
I asked Masumi who was on the ground looking up in the sky. She might have lost but you couldn't tell that because she had a smile on her face.
"You know, ever since last year, I've wanted you to acknowledge me as your rival. Thank you Sawatari I'm happy that you think of me as worthy rival. I promise that I'll catch up to you."
"Uh..."
"Also, can you stop calling me cute in front of other people. It really embarrassing. Hehe~"
"Sure..."
Masumi smiled at me when she said those things to me. I was surprised by her heartfelt sentences. Well... This is awkward. Damn... Now I feel bad for lying to her. Shit man. Anime girls my fucking weakness.
"Hey? Is there something wrong?"
"No, let me get you up Masumi."
I smiled reluctantly at her then helped her up her feet. With that I finished my last available side quest and gained a friend in this world. Even though it doesn't feel right.
Quest Completed: Childhood Friend
Masumi has a increased chance of becoming a Lancer in the future.
"Booster Pack: Rock Excavation" is unlocked.
"Structure Deck: Gem-Knight Order" is unlocked.
Side Quest: Childhood Sweetheart is unlocked.
"All the tutorial Quests have are completed. A new feature and more [Quests] have been unlocked! We expected you to finish the 'Childhood Friend' quest a year ago you slow bum! Took you long enough. Also new [Quests] will appear regularly now."
Ohhhhhhhhhhh! That's why I didn't get any more [Side Quests]. Also new features! I'll check them out later!
"Sawatari is something wrong? Your spacing out."
Masumi asked me as I was checking the system message. I grinned at Masumi to show her that nothing was wrong.
"Nah, it's nothing. Plus call me Shingo instead, we're friends after all."
I'm going to try and be a real friend to her. It makes me feel less shitty atleast.
Part 8
It was currently 10 PM and I was busy looking at my [Quests]. It seems that after I finished my befriend Masumi Quest it unlocked a lot of Quests for me.

Why is this even a quest? They're really underestimating me. It's true that I'm not the smartest person in the world. But is this even necessary? The Dueling Points are appreciated though.

Who the fuck is Yu Sakuragi? Whatever he's probably a no name NPC that I forgot about. Also, why are my God cards needed with getting a Love Interests. Who are they talking about? Yuzu? She's the only relevant girl here in the Standard Dimension. Am I going to cuck Yuya by doing this? Nah it's highly unlikely that it's going to be Yuzu. It's more than likely going to be a no name NPC like this Yu Sakuragi character.
"Welp that's all my new side quests for now. Let's examine the new feature then."

I return to menu and clicked the new [Love Interests] option.
"Welcome to the [Love Interests] screen! It took you long enough to unlock it! In this screen, you can check on your progress on a potential love interest. All future Love Interests will now be place in this screen instead of the [Relationships] screen. Also Masumi has been moved here from the [Relationships] screen because the feature has been unlocked."
I kind of expected this once I saw the Childhood Sweetheart Side Quests reward. Plus the Strongest of your Generation was dead giveaway. Let's check it out then.
