CHAPTER 3

Me and Lily were pretty excited about going to Hogwarts. We were discussing on which house we would end up getting sorted in. Many days after we got the Admission Acceptance letter, when we were watching TV, we heard someone ringing the bell. On opening the door, we found that it was Minerva McGonagall. She was looking exactly the same as she looked in the Harry Potter movies.

She smiled at us softly, "Hello Children, Good Morning. I am Professor Minerva McGonagall from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I teach Transfiguration and the head of Gryffindor house. I am here to take you both to Diagon Alley to get essentials required for Hogwarts. And given the fact that both of you don't have any wizarding money, I have got some money for both of you from Hogwart's Education Fund for Students".

Lily enthusiastically replied, "Hello Professor. Thank you for coming to help us. Gryffindor is my favourite house and I can't wait to be sorted there".

Minerva was smiling, "Well Dear, I like your enthusiasm. I look forward to your sorting and would be proud if you are in Gryffindor".

So we went to Diagon Alley and bought most of our necessary essentials for the course. Minerva spoke, "Well Children, I guess we only need to buy your Wands now. Let's go to Ollivander's".

I replied, "But Professor, we already have our wands". Telling this I showed her my wand as did Lily.

"Wow Kids, where did you get those wands"

"We got them in the house where we stay. I think they belonged to my parents", Lily spoke.

Minerva continued, "Well they don't look like they are in proper shape. Casting spells with them will not be good and might be dangerous. Let's go to Ollivander's as he can repair wands if they have just minor damage".

We went to Ollivander's where we saw the Wandmaker himself. He greeted us, "Hello Professor McGonagall and hello children. What are your names and we will start getting the best wands for you".

I replied, "Hello Mr. Olivander. I am Kal and this is my friend Lily Prince. We actually have wands but they are slightly damaged. Can you please check our wands for us".

He was slightly shocked when he heard Lily's name. He looked at her and asked, "Miss Lily Prince, Are you by any chance daughter of Augustus Prince and Irene Prince".

Lily replied, "Yes Mr. Ollivander, I am their daughter. Do you know my parents, Sir?"

"Of course, I know your parents. Your parents were good friends of mine and were fellow wandmakers. They apprenticed under me for half an year and then travelled to America where they made good amount of money by selling exotic Wands there. They were really brilliant Wandmakers".

Lily had hope in her eyes and asked, "Sir, do you know where they are now. I want to meet them".

Om hearing this, both Minerva and Ollivander shared sad expressions. Ollivander said in a sad tone, "I am sorry Dear, but they are no longer alive. They came back to Britain in the end of 1979, and they got caught up in battle with He-who-must-not-be-named. They were killed when he attacked them one day in your home. Your entire house got destroyed with a Fiendfyre".

Hearing this, Lily had a gasp and she began to cry. I tried to comfort her already suspecting this might have been the case with her parents. She was crying a lot.

Ollivander continued, "I am Sorry dear to be the bearer of bad news. Your parents gave me something which belonged to you and asked me to give it you in case something bad happened. I assumed you were also dead. Here let me bring it". Saying this he brought a Key to Gringott's bank vault and explained that Lily's parents left her money. He also asked us our wands so that he can repair them. He began inspecting them.

He spoke, "Mr. Kal, the wand you hold is 15 inches long and rigid made up of Elder wood having a dual core – A phoenix feather and Thunderbird feather. Your wand will be difficult to control as when it senses danger, it will fire spells on it's own. Dear Lily, your wand is 12 inches long and flexible made up of Ebony Wood and Horned Serpent core. It's a powerful wand sensitive to Parseltounge and can sense danger by emitting low musical tone. These wands belonged to your parents. Use them wisely".

Saying this he repaired our Wands. We thanked him and left to Gringott's bank with Minerva. There we found there was a quite a good amount of money and we took some. Lily gave some money back to Minerva. Me and Lily came to an agreement that we would use her money in Wizarding world while my money in the Muggle world. Minerva took us to railway station and asked us to board Hogwarts Express on Platform 9-3/4 and bid us Farewell.
