Chapter 15- Leech attack
Jacob's POV-
"I love Bella. No! I hate Bella. I love Bella. No! I hate…."
I threw the wrench lying nearby directly at Embry's big fat head, smiling when he groaned out in sudden pain. Damn. I had a good aim!
"What the fuck, Jake?" He winced, rubbing his forehead, glaring at me in absolute annoyance. "Do you not want me to have a functional head? Is that your intention?"
"You don't use it either way, asshole." I snorted. "And what the hell was that- 'I love Bella. No. I hate Bella…" I mimicked him to perfection, focusing on the love of my life- my car- doing all I could to groom it to an acceptable level.
It was tough work, believe me!
He rolled his eyes, a sigh leaving his lips. "I was out on patrol with Paul last night. Honestly, the man gave me a headache. I mean, what is he even fighting about? He has imprinted on her. They are going to be together. That is a given! And Bella is not half bad to look at. I would tap that. Any day. Have you seen her tits? I have had dreams of playing with those babies. Beautiful dreams." he let out a sigh, smiling.
"Don't you fucking dare talk about her like that?" I growled out in anger, shaking with the urge to phase and attack the idiot that stood in front of me. "She is Bella."
My Bella.
"Treat her with respect."
Embry gave me the 'Are you serious' look, shaking his head in sheer amusement. "Like you have never thought of tapping that…"
"Don't. Just don't." I glared at him, refusing to even hear a word more of what he had to say. "We had shared something. She was my…. We could have been more. We should have been more."
If only I had been the one to imprint on her.
She could have been mine.
For all the world to know and admire.
But no. Paul had to go and imprint on the woman of my dreams, ruining everything in the process.
Just think about it. He did not even want her. He did not appreciate her as I did. He did not wish to marry her and have cute little babies with her, all of them looking exactly like her. And most importantly, he did not follow her around like a little, lost puppy who knew nothing better than following her around.
Heck. Forget all of that, he had not even bothered to talk to her once in all these days…since that devastating day that had changed our lives forever…
Nope. He was simply not interested in her or the imprint, wanting nothing to do with any of the above.
How was any of this fair then, you tell me?
The spirits had gotten it all wrong; I was supposed to imprint on her.
Yes.
Exactly.
I loved her.
We could have been so happy together.
So complete and happy….
"Stop dreaming about her." Embry threw the wrench back at me, grabbing a random wooden box from around- don't ask me where it came from- and sitting on it. "She is an almost sister-in-law to us now, if you give it a thought. I almost felt disgusted this morning when her face crossed my mind while playing with little Embry. Almost; not completely." He waggled his eyebrows at me, mumbling about how he was always going to remain a man, the woman being taken or not of no importance to the other head.
"Disgusting." I scowled at him, resisting the heavy urge to bang his head into the wall, repeatedly. "Why are you telling me that? No one wants to know what you do in the shower."
Especially not me.
Yuck.
"You sure Bella would not be interested?" he smirked; his eyebrows raised. "It is sure to make her blush. And you know how beautiful she looks when she blushes!"
That's it.
He deserved to die.
And I would be the one to do this good- necessary- deed that benefited the rest of mankind.
Being the chosen one, indeed.
I was quick to get up from where I had been lying under my car, every intention of killing him being on my mind- and in his defense- he looked ready to fight.
He was smirking, running a hand through his hair, as he waited for me to attack.
I wouldn't kill him, obviously. But a few hits here and there could not kill anyone.
Hurt-yes, but not kill.
And it was not like we had never fought before in all these years of knowing each other.
Wait, let me correct that.
It was not like we had never 'physically' fought before in all these years of knowing one another.
Heck, we roughhoused all the time, teaming up against Quil and beating the shit out of him, using all the moves that we witnessed in WWE and wanted to try out in real life.
Eh.
It was fun.
Now, if only I had been John Cena or The Undertaker, no one would have dared to even look bad at my Bella.
No sir.
She would have been all mine….
All mine forever.
"And there we go again!" Embry rolled his eyes, receiving a shrug from me in response. It was not my fault. I could not help it if my mind decided to go to La-La-Land every time the thought of beautiful Bella crossed our mind.
Yes, I was completely helpless in this regard.
"Dude, she is taken."
I waved him off.
She was still a free bird, essentially- and would remain so until Paul manned up, or found a way to break the imprint…the latter being what I hoped with all my heart for….
What?
I wanted her.
Was that still a surprise for someone?
I mean I had already shouted it off the cliffs on second beach- I had in reality! The only thing now remaining for me to do being to tattoo it on my forehead. And I would have done that too, had Billy not glared at me and promised to lock me up when I suggested it to him.
So…yeah.
It sucks to be a minor.
Anyhow, I shook my head- freeing myself of these random, unimportant thoughts, continuing to glare at Embry- having nothing better to do, only looking away when my phone rang, demanding my immediate attention.
I scowled at the handset of offense, putting it up to my ear and muttering an annoyed 'Hello', wishing for the conversation to end already, so damn annoyed by it.
"Jake,"
Aww. It was Bella.
Cue the big smile on my face.
How was she doing today?
Where was she?
Could I meet her?
"Jake." She cried out into the phone, surprising me. "He is here. I am so scared." Had she just said that in a monotone? "I mean, help me!" she fumbled over her words. "He is going to eat me up, or drink from me, however you look at it."
Was she serious?
What was she even talking about?
Was she in any sort of trouble?
"Jake, I need you."
Bella needed me.
Yes Bella, I am always here for you.
Night or day does not matter.
"What is wrong, honey?" I cooed at her. "Talk to me."
"He is here." she repeated, and while I could not see her face for obvious reasons, I could almost predict that she had rolled her eyes in annoyance at my words.
"Who is this 'he'?" I demanded to know, sharing a look with Embry.
If this he who was responsible for her obvious discomfort was Paul, honest to God I was going to tear him to a billion shreds.
"He is…."
Did she have to think about it?
What's with the pause?
"He is….Laurent." she finally responded, letting out a sigh of relief.
Who the fuck is Laurent now?
"He is one of their kind." She whispered, too relaxed for the situation she currently seemed to be in. "He is out to kill me. He wants revenge. Edward killed his coven mate."
It almost felt like a speech that she had memorized by heart.
"Whoa. Hold on." I frowned. "He is out to kill you? Where are you? We are coming."
I would kill him.
I would tear him to small little pieces and….
"No." Bella shouted into the phone, my steps halting immediately. "I don't want to see any of the others. I don't trust them. Only you and Embry, please."
"But," I frowned, protesting. "We need the entire pack there, Bella. We may need it."
"No, please," Bella pleaded. "I can't trust them. Promise me, Jake. Promise me. Or I will not tell you my location."
I cursed under my breath. I needed to know her location in order to save her, well, obviously.
"Fine." I half-heartedly agreed, knowing well that this information would be reaching Sam, letting him know to be ready on the sidelines were it required.
"Great." She cheered.
Had she just cheered?
What was wrong with the girl?
She seriously needed the rescuing!
She was quick to give me her location, some small meadow on the east of La Push, her voice stilling mid-sentence as a gasp left her mouth, painful, awkward silence left in its retreat.
"What is it, Bella?" I frowned, running in the direction of the door, not wanting to waste even a second longer, Embry already having gone ahead and phased, having heard every word that was spoken between us.
Every second wasted took me further away from her.
No. I would reach her on time.
I had to.
"He is here." she cried out; panic now audible in her voice. "He is really here. Jake, help me. Oh. God. I had so not expected this." she started to ramble, screaming and crying into the phone.
"On my way, Bella." I shouted into the receiver, urgency evident in my tone, a wolf call of danger resounding through the air just at the moment, Jared who had been on patrol being the one to call it.
Reluctantly, I ended the call, knowing well that in order to save Bella, I would have to phase. And as soon as I did so, only one word echoed through my mind on repeat.
'Leech'
