Chapter 30- Another step forward

Paul's POV-

"We just want to help. If we join hands…."

"Look," I rolled my eyes at the scarred ass leech, finding it difficult to believe that he had as much guts in him. I mean, seriously? He was still trying the same dumb trick in the book? We knew how it went; why would we fall for it again? That was obvious as fuck! "We may be much more human when compared to you, but we are certainly not dumb. Your brother tried this trick on us; it will not work again!"

Who was this guy?

Where had they got him from?

Did he think us to be idiots?

"I…" he sighed, wincing. "He betrayed us, too. We had no idea that he would do so…"

"And I completely believe you." I sarcastically quipped, shaking my head in forced politeness. "Look, are we done here? For, I would rather go and save my imprint than waste time in your presence."

"We just want to help." Oh, screw you, tiny midget! "Take it as a pay up for our family's misdeeds. I want nothing but good for Bella. I too want her to come back safe and human…"

"Why should we even trust you?"

Yes, Charlie.

Go ahead and ask the hard questions.

"After all it is your family that is responsible for creating this mess in the first place?"

"I know. And I completely understand your point." The scarred leech nodded his head in sincerity. "You have no reason to trust us. You shouldn't be. I wouldn't have. But the concern that my mate feels for your imprint is not fabricated." He offered me a pointed look, continuing, "as soon as she saw a vision of Edward forcefully changing Bella….we came running here first thing. Edward probably doesn't suspect that he has slipped, or maybe he just doesn't care. Whatever it be, we willingly offer you, our services. I will get Bella safely back home, as that matters to my mate more than anything in this world at the moment. You may like it or you may not, makes no difference to my life. I am still going to do it."

That little shit.

What does he think of himself?

"And what if we tell you that we don't need your services?" Charlie raised an eyebrow in question. "We can handle ourselves. My daughter is not your worry. You are free of the burden to leave."

"How many shape-shifters are you?" Jasper let out a skeptical laugh. "I am confident most of you have no idea what you are getting yourself into."

I looked around the room, expecting anger and disbelief at the bloodsucker's words, but to my shock and somewhat worry, I could see the confusion that the leech was apparently referring to. Apart from Sam- who was scowling at the moment, no one looked half confident enough of us achieving this. Not even Jacob- who apparently boasted to be our strongest.

He wasn't.

Far from it, really!

I would put him even lower than Seth in the rating. At least Seth had the guts to look ready to fight- no matter how fake his look be, not like the doofus who was cowering in the corner, pretending to be all macho and brave, almost about to crawl behind Billy as he cried for his father.

Fuck these cowards!

I did not need them.

I was enough to save my imprint.

I alone would save her and bring her back.

"You are really not."

"What?" I glared at the bloodsucker. I had not even spoken anything out loud, was he talking to himself now?

"You cannot do this on your own. No. You are not enough. You will fail miserably if you refuse to accept this fact."

I stared at the man; my eyes wide.

Had he…had he just read my mind?

How else did he know exactly what I had been thinking?

No. That was not possible.

He wasn't the mind reader.

That had been that betrayer.

Yes, this one could not read minds….

"I have existed for close to two centuries. I don't need to read your mind to know what you are thinking. Your face is enough of a mirror." He clarified, making me roll my eyes in annoyance.

"Look, face-reader or whatever you are now," Not like I cared. "You are wasting my precious time. I need to go and….what the fuck is wrong with her?" I changed my words mid-sentence, having no other choice but to, quick to point a finger at the creepy midget leech, her eyes and expression scarily blank as she stared at the wall in repetition, similar to a human possessed in every horrible horror movie ever made.

Could vampires even get possessed?

How?

But one thing was for sure, she looker even creepier than usual!

I know. It is hard to believe.

"Alice," The scarred leech held her closer to him, soothingly run a hand through what little hair the female had. "It's okay." He whispered in her ears, the worry in his eyes indicating that this was probably something serious.

I turned to look at my pack mates, the expression of intrigue and curiosity visible on their faces letting me know that they were thoroughly enjoying the movie put up for their pleasure.

The idiots.

"Jazz," The pixie finally snapped out of her daydream, thirty-seven wasted seconds later, all breathless and dry sobbing. "We need to save her. She is going to kill him. They will…they will…Jazz…they will…"

Damn.

I almost felt bad for the chick as she cried her so not required breath out.

Imagine!

"Calm down, Alice."

Yea, you do that!

"You need to tell us what you saw. Only if we understand, can we stop it from becoming a reality. Slowly, Alice. Slow."

"Bella is going to kill Edward."

Say what now?

"How?"

"When?"

"What?"

"Why?"

"Wow."

"I could never believe she had it in her."

"She has surprised me, too."

"I am proud of my daughter."

"Damn, Bella's a hero."

"ENOUGH!" Sam's hard voice reverberated through the room, every eye turning to look at him- some sheepish and some apologetic. "The 'how', 'when', 'what' and 'why' can be answered on a later date. For now, can we worry about the consequences of the action that is done?"

No answer.

Obviously, no one sane would answer that question.

Not even Charlie who was memorizing the floral pattern on the carpet with sudden interest, seeing it for the first time since we were forced to change our plan and gather here in Sam's house, the two bloodsuckers surprising us with a visit. We had left to get back my imprint. Okay, so we were still at the border between Forks and La Push when they took us by surprise, but it was something indeed!

"Alice," It was Sam's turn to take charge. "Is Bella in any danger?"

"She is in a lot of danger."

That grabbed my instant attention, a growl leaving my mouth. "Where is she?" I barked the question out, glaring at the pixie leech to give out the damn answer.

"She will jump into the water to save her life, surrounded by the rest of them after she kills Edward. But it is of no use. They will pull her out, grabbing her by the hair to take revenge for taking Edward away from them."

"What have they planned to do?"

"Jazz…" she paused, hesitating. It had to be bad, whatever it was. "Vampire bites."

"Fuck."

I have never seen the scarred leech look this distraught and visibly shaken as he shut his eyes and muttered curses under his breath.

"What is that?" I demanded to know. What were they planning to do to my imprint?

Not that I would ever let them be successful in it.

"It means that they will continue to bite her- sucking out the blood to keep her human- till she has any life remaining in her. It is hell on earth for any human. She would end up craving death."

"Like hell they will!" I roared out in anger, my hands searching for something to grab, the unfortunate lamp being my first victim as I mercilessly threw it on the floor, the sound of shattered glass like music to my ears. "I will kill them. I will kill all of them. They want her to feel pain. I will show them what pain really is. They will curse the day they were born. How dare they mess with my imprint? They don't yet know what I am capable of doing. I will show them. I will…."

"Paul." I pushed Sam away. I wasn't about to be stopped today. Different lamp, same fate. Followed by the photo frames lining the wall, then the expensive showpiece that I knew belonged to Emily's mother. It all went down to the floor, hands grabbing me from the back as I pushed them away, refusing to stop today.

How dare they?

How fucking dare they?

They could not even imagine what I would do to them.

"Stop destroying my house, Paul." Emily glared at me, her hands on my shoulders, forcing me to look down at her. I could have pushed her away, but the tears in her eyes stopped me from doing so. "Please." She begged, a desperate cry leaving her mouth.

I softly pushed her away, taking my head in my hands, refusing to even look at the destruction that I had caused in my rage.

Her living room was completely destroyed. The couch was half broken, lamps were destroyed and where there once used to be photos of them both smiling and in love, lay only paint and marks of the treasure being mercilessly stolen.

"I am sorry."

It was not enough.

It never would be.

"We…we will deal with this later." Sam sighed, much more mature than I could ever dream of being. "Let's go rescue Bella first. That is more important at the moment."

No one protested to that. Surprisingly!

"I have a plan for that." The scarred….Jasper responded. I did not even have the energy in me to call him names, that exhausted I was. "They are more in number, jumping into a direct fight would do us more harm than good."

"What do you suggest then?" Jacob demanded to know. "We are not repeating the same mistake twice by allowing you to go alone to 'rescue her'."

"I wasn't even suggesting that." Jasper humorlessly laughed, waving a hand in air. "I am not Edward. I have a power that can actually be used in a battle."

"What do you mean?" I raised an eyebrow in question, guilty for my actions- indeed, but letting it settle in the back of my mind for the moment. I would apologize to Sam and Emily once this was all over, maybe even pay for whatever I had broken or damaged beyond repair.

"I will put them all to sleep." He smiled, pride shining in his and his mate's eyes.

Say what now?

"They are vampires. They can't sleep."

Thank you, Seth.

"Trust me, I am aware of that." The leech laughed. "But they will all 'fall asleep' when I appear in front of them, not to wake up till Bella is safely with us. I am going to throw a massive wave of exhaustion and the heavy urge to sleep their way. They will be yawning in no time."

Oh.

"Would this work?"

Would we be able to save Bella through this plan of his?

Fighting was pointless.

Now, don't get me wrong. I was all in for a good fight, but I was not daft enough to believe that I could survive against an entire army, and neither did I trust my pack mates enough to have my back.

So, you see my dilemma!

He laughed. He fucking laughed. "I am a master at this trick."

Okay then.

"But." he instantly spoke up. "We only kill Carlisle and Esme."

"The others…"

"The others are innocent. They don't have a clue of what Carlisle has grabbed them into. He has lied to them and manipulated them into accepting. We will talk to them. They will not seek revenge."

"We cannot trust…"

"Fine."

Sam!

I glared at the man.

What the hell?

He ignored me, turning to look at the planner leech. "Let's not waste any more time in discussing over this. We agree with your demand to leave the others alone. Will she…how much time do we have before Bella jumps into the water?" the last question directed to the seer, the rest of us waited with a bated breath for her answer.

"Not much." She sighed. "We need to hurry."
