"Heya Cassie" Evelyn said as one of the regular news girls walked into the shop, "what'll it be today?"
"Snicker doodle please." Cassie said blowing some of her red hair out of her face.
"How's sellin goin taday?"
"Eh it could be better, it's pretty cold out so everyone seems to be stayin inside taday."
"Ise sawry about dat" Evelyn said handing over her cookie.
"How much do ise owe ya?"
"It's on da house."
"Thanks." Cassie said as she turned to walk out, "Hey Evelyn, what ya doin tonight?"
"Probably just stayin at home like ise always do"
"Well da boys have coordinated some sort of gathering tonight and I'd love it if ya would come wit me, dere's gonna be music, beer, dancing, poka, you'd love it, and sides you really should get out more."
Evelyn laughed, "Youse would really want me to come?"
"Of coise wese friends aint we?"
"Ya" Evelyn smiled.
"Awright well I'll be back at 8 and we'll walk over together." And with that Cassie was gone.
Evelyn couldn't believe her luck, most of her life was spent at school and working at the bakery, she never really had time for friends. Up until then she never realized that the regulars of the bakery were the only real friends, she was happy knowing that they considered her a friend also. At seven o'clock Evelyn closed up shop and ran upstairs to their apartment to start getting ready for the night. She had her hair to do, her make up, she had to pick out the perfect dress and by 8 o'clock she was ready. Evelyn sighed as she looked in the mirror that night, she was never the 'pretty girl' that boys took notice of, she had mousy brown hair, with matching brown eyes, she was skinny, awkwardly tall, and hated her smile. The only physical feature she liked on her was her nose, she had a perfect button nose. At 8 o'clock sharp she ran downstairs to meet with Cassie.
"Heya Cass I didn't keep you waiting long did I?" Evelyn asked once she got downstairs.
"Nope ise just got heah." Cassie replied.
"Good."
"So are ya ready for tonight?"
"As ready as I'll eva be."
"Alright then lets go." And with that the two girls were off for a night of fun.
