And today, we are back with another exciting chapter. This chapter will focus on the relationship between Link and Mipha. I wanted to do something unique with the characters that I haven't seen. more details after the story
Now let's get started.
Link smiled as two guards greeted him at the entrance of the Domain. It had been a long week, and he needed a break not just from all the problems he had to deal with, not to mention all the stress. Not to say, with all the fuss about Calamity Gannon going on, things were pretty hectic. Many knights had approached him asking him to help train, Link offered to help, but the fights were short. It was pretty much over before he drew the blade. Of course, he would give them advice tell them where they were going wrong, but he could still feel a sense of jealousy in the air and honesty. It was starting to be too much to handle, not to mentions what happened the other day.
Link shook his head, but that was why he was here now. He needed to get away for a bit, be by himself, or at the very least decompress though maybe hang out with Bazz and the other instead of being their teacher and be their friend again.
"Link," a voice shouted, pulling Link out his thoughts. A smile came on his face as he noticed the small red ball rushing towards him. It was Prince Sidon, a giant grin on his face as he rushed up to him. Link bent down and braced himself for Sidon's tackle hug.
"your back," Sidon's grin was wide as he jumped up and down, "it's so good to see you."
Link patted Sidon on the head "good to see you, too, buddy, where your sister."
"come on," Sidon muttered "every time you're here, you go see her," Sidon muttered.
"Hey, you typically come to," Link told him. "Besides, I need to ask her something."
Sidon gave a pout as he looked away "she's in a meeting with Muzu, so I guess you'll have to wait."
"I guess," Link said, "I could hang out with someone till I do" Link stood up "now, who to see" he started to scratch his chin as the realization came across Sidon's face. "now I could go see Kodah." Link cringed. They recently fought something about choosing between her, and Mipha Link knew what she meant when she told him that. Still, when he dodged the question, she left in a huff. Maybe he should try and mend things.
"hey," Sidon said, "I'm already here."
"well, that is true," Link muttered, "but."
"but nothing," Sidon shouted, "as the prince, I order you to play with me."
"are you abusing your power, young prince" Link joked
"yes," Sidon nodded, "so now come with me, and we can play"
Link had to hold back his laughter as Sidon led him through the Domain giving his greetings to another Zora's as they passed by
"now I am the great Sidon," Sidon screamed. He jumped into the pool, a part of Link envied Sidon. He didn't have a care in the world, but maybe that was for the best he was still just a kid, well, for a Zora as Sidon played in the pool, Link sat often slashing him when he would try to drag in the water
"Link," Sidon asked suddenly, are you worried."
"about what," Link asked, confused at Sidon's sudden tone shift
"all the stuff, that's going on," Sidon asked. "I overheard my dad talking about it. It all sounds so scary" he looked at Link, "so I was wondering if you were worried. "Link smiled at him
"yeah, you could say that," Link admitted
"what," Sidon said, "but you're so brave" Link looked at Sidon "you never seem afraid."
"well," Link started, "I mean we all get afraid at some point it a normal part of life you can never be without fear" "but that's I train so hard, so that even if I'm afraid, I know I'm strong enough to."
"Mipha's always telling me that" Sidon looked away "she has to be strong for her people, and that she wants me to be the same"
"do you think you can" Link asked
"I want to," Sidon said. "I want to be the strong prince that my sister says I can be"
"then do it," Link said, "you have people who will look and support you" Link smiled. "I know you'll be great, Sidon."
"really," Sidon perked up as he jumped out of the pool, "I will be the best prince in all of Hyrule, no the world."
Link felt himself smile "we believe in you, Sidon."
"Prince Sidon," a voice called the duo looked back to see Seggin approaching them. "Muzu is looking for you."
"Aww, but I was playing with Link," Sidon groaned
"I know, but you need to respect our elder's request, my prince" Seggin smiled. "I'm sure there will be time to play with Link another time."
"you always say that," Sidon muttered as he walked away. His head bowed as he went to see what Muzu wanted with him.
"it's good to see you again. Master Seggin," Link said, standing out of the pool,
"I see," Seggin said, almost reading his mind "the princess should be with her father at the moment," he said. "I'm sure he won't mind. It might do him good to see you again as well."
"umm, thanks," Link said as he placed back on boots. He followed Seggin to the throne room. They engaged in small conversation talking about Bazz, Gaddison, and Rivan, who, according to him, were out right now but would have returned by nightfall. As he entered, he noticed Mipha and Dorphan were talking. He stopped, not wanted to intrude. He smiled once Dorphan saw him.
"ahh, Link," Mipha turned and greeted him with a smile on her face. "it's good to see you, my boy."
Link gave a quick bow as he walked up to Mipha. "I hope I'm not interrupting," Link asked.
"no, not at all." Dorphan smiled "please come join us. I will not hold you too for long" Link nodded as he walked up to see what Dorphan had to tell him. "I do hope your time in the knights is going well, Link."
"yes," Link told him, "things are going fine."
"that's good to hear, "Dorphan smiled. "I must say you've grown since the last time you were here, Link," he smiled "sometimes I forget how fast you Hylians grow." Link could only smile as Mipha giggled. "now I do not wish to hold you too" he smiled as a few elders entered the throne room as he dismissed Mipha, and Link bowed as they started to exit
"so, Link," Mipha started, "I heard that the king of Hyrule announced Calamity Gannon." she looked away."
"yeah," Link muttered, "it's been difficult," he muttered "people have been asking me for tips when it comes to training," he looked away." not that I don't mind. It's just with the way they talk about me."
"well, I can understand where you're coming from," Mipha smiled, "but you should use this as a chance to connect with them" she smiled don't you think."
"I thought that too then," Link sighed. That encounter was still fresh in his mind. it made him shiver
Flashback
the sound of a sword-swinging rushed through the air. Link stopped just before he could strike the training dummy. Link let out a breath of fresh air. As he came to a stop, many things were going on, so Link took to training in this tiny spot it was a bit out of the way, and not many would come up here. Over the past few days, many knights had come to him asking for advice and some tips. He wasn't against it, but it was a weird change. Apart from him wanting to head the Domain, it had been a while since he visited, but he felt that if he left, something would happen, and he wanted to be nearby.
Link drew his sword back once again, beginning his routine 'then again, it would be nice to see Mipha, again.'
'and see Bazz, Gaddison, and Rivan,' he added quickly. However, he would be lying if he said that he wouldn't spend most of his time with his old friend.
Another, strike the sword, stopping just in time Link smiled to himself. After a few more minutes, he should get started on his archery skills. They could use some work, but that could wait right now he needed to get in some sword training 'sharpen your skills at all times"' those were lessons he had learned while at training, and he took them to heart so hear he was making sure that his skills were still up to par.
Not that he wanted to toot his own horn. However, he was still rather good, 'besides, Daruk says I need to complement myself more, might bring up my self-esteem.'
Link then felt a pair of eyes on him. It wasn't Epona '. It must be Kiana' Link figured she was the only one who wouldn't call his name out when it came to training something about making sure his sense sharp and he was always aware. He didn't mind though there something off about them 'maybe she will be up to spar.'
"what are you doing" it was when she spoke is when Link realized who was in his princes or, better yet, who he was in the presence off he turned around, dropping to one knee as his sword fell to the ground making a significant clinking noise as he looked to see princess Zelda
"training, princess," Link answered quickly "forgive me, I did not notice you," Zelda eyed him. She was in her standard dress as she looked him over "is something wrong, your grace."
"no," Zelda answered as she overlooked him, "just surprised someone of your skill would be training."
Link had to be honest that stung a bit, and besides, he was nowhere near as good as any of the captains or his peers made him out to be though Kiana would laugh every time, he told her that "is there anything I can help you with, princess."
She stood there eyeing him. The air was uncomfortable. Link felt a sudden urge to vomit, but he would remain composed. To say the princess made him nervous would the understatement of the century. he looked over members of her royal guard standing at attention, clearly eyeing Link as Zelda finally found whatever she was looking for
"I must ask," she said, "what do you think of the returning Calamity."
that was a loaded question though Link would answer as truthfully as he could "my only concern is the safety of the people of Hyrule" while he wasn't lying, but there were also his own personal thoughts, but this was the princess of Hyrule.
"I see," her voice had a bit of surprise. However, Link couldn't see why, "my father says that with knights like you, we shouldn't have to worry about the safety of our people" there seemed to be an undertone to what she told him. Still, Link chooses to ignore it as Zelda continued to eye Link. She sighed as she started to leave him. "I trust that you will be able to live up to that standard." she began to walk away "my father has also requested your presence, " she said, no longer facing him, "so please don't keep him waiting
as she left, Link looked at his discarded sword. What she had intended with this conversation, he could only guess. Still, he knew that there was more to what princess Zelda had let on to him a mystery for another day h looked up Zelda and her royal guard leaving. The meeting with king Rhoam was short. He wanted him to head to Lanayru, which in Link's mind was perfect an excuse to visit the Domain. and right now, he needed it
End Flashback
Link and Mipha had since left the Domain. They were no sitting against a tree in the outskirts of the Domain Link, having recently told her about the encounter with princess Zelda had since left the duo in uncomfortable silence. "I think you are overthinking this Link."
"am I" Link asked "you and I both know how other knights view me,"
"true," Mipha stated, "but you have to remember."
"I know, I know," Link muttered "they don't know me," Link said
"Exactly," Mipha said, "take Impa, for example; once you two got over that first encounter, now look, you two are good friends."
Mipha was right. He and Impa had since become good friends so much so he could talk around her with little effort, "true, but" Link sighed, "they already have this preconceived notion of me." Link muttered, "they don't even want to get to know me" the last words came out as a stutter as he felt Mipha lean against him, "and in their minds, I'm the perfect knight everything is handed to me, a prodigy."
Mipha said nothing. Links words filling her mind has he always felt like this. it hurt her that a part of him was hurting something she couldn't heal though she smiled "and what the people" she asked, catching Link off guard "what do the people of Castle town think of you" she smiles
"I don't know," Link admitted
"really," Mipha asked, "cause every time I go there with, you" she smiled, "they look at you with such hopeful eyes as if because you're there, they have to have no worries at all" she snuggled into him she realized what she was doing. Still, a part of her didn't care Link was her friend, and they trust each other her cheeks got warm as she felt Link head on top of her "they believe in you, Link."
"I guess" was all he said. "I'm just helping people," was all he muttered "nothing too special."
Mipha laughed, earning a confused look from Link as she got more comfortable on his shoulder "sometimes I hope that this kindness isn't being taken advantage of," she muttered. "I would hate to know of a person that using it to get their way."
Link chuckled. "I doubt that"
"well, if you're sure," Mipha said as she let out a yawn.
"you know, as princess of the Domain, you really shouldn't be seen sleeping on the shoulder of some random knight," Link teased. "Goddess forbid the council found out about this." Link smiled
"I think they'll be fine," Mipha joked back. "besides, I'm probably the safest princess in all of Hyrule right now, so I don't see a problem" she shifted again "do you, Link."
Link thought for a second, trying to drag this out as he laughed "well," he stopped as he relaxed a bit, "I guess what they don't know won't kill them."
"Good answer," she yawned as she slowly started to fall asleep. For a long time, she had tried to fight these feelings that wormed their way into her heart, and every time she was close to pushing them down for good, Link would show up, and they would come shooting back up. A part of her wondered if he felt the same way she didn't know, and while the fear of rejection scared her, she wouldn't let that ruin her bond with Link. besides, she could indulge herself with little moments like this "now let's just enjoy the quiet for once."
"Mipha I," Link stopped. Didn't he come here to decompress, and well, maybe he shouldn't always be complaining about his problems "thank you for listing," he whispered. "I'm sorry if it seems that all I do these days is complain."
"it alright, Link," Mipha smiled, "but right now, let's just enjoy each other's company."
Link smiled "alright" Link muttered, "thank you, Mipha."
"It was my pleasure."
Link was in a dark forest a shining light was all he could see as he walked forward, he could hear voice's
"Link"
"Those like you... Those who share the blood of the goddess and the spirit of the hero... They are eternally bound to this curse. An incarnation of my hatred shall ever follow your kind, dooming them to wander a blood-soaked sea of darkness for all time." a voice boomed. It felt cold, and calluses, yet Link felt no fear as if he knew he couldn't hear it.
"a Hero is destined to appear...and he alone must face the person who began the Great Cataclysm." another voice said as Link continued.
Link had no idea where these words were coming from, but he kept moving. He felt out of place as if he were in the light in front of him.
'master'
Link shook his head. The voice came back, but it felt familiar as if he had heard it before, but at the same time, it felt new different "Rise... The time has come for you to awaken... You are fated to have a hand in a great destiny, and it will soon find you... The time has come for you to awaken...' Link shook his head
"come," the voice said. The light started to clear, giving the image of a sword, "reclaim me, so we may once again push back the darkness."
Link tried to back up as the area cleared, showing a small forest lest black, filled with a beautiful golden light, a small sword sitting in the middle. "Come. You must take up this sword. it is your destiny."
Link opened his eyes. He was back in Domain. He looked over and saw Mipha still resting calmly in his arms 'she was on my shoulder when I fell asleep,' Link thought to himself. Now she was wrapped in his arms, her head resting on his chest. Her breathing was calm, so his sudden jump failed to wake. Looking around, he saw how calm she was. Link let his mind wander before shaking it away.
"Link," her voice was calm, but she didn't open her eyes, but he felt her shift, "are you alright."
"Yeah," Link lied, but he still didn't understand what the dream was "just a dream," he said
"oh," Mipha yawned before getting comfortable again, "okay." she started to snuggle back into his chest, but Link stopped her.
"it's getting late, Mipha," Link told her. "I need to take you back before anyone starts to get worried."
Mipha groaned "not yet," she muttered, still sleeping, "I don't want you to go." Link sighed as much as he wanted to stay, but he knew they couldn't. It was only a matter of time before someone, namely Seggin, came looking for her, and he wanted to avoid that conversation.
"Okay, five more minutes," Link muttered. He knew that he should get her up now, but he wanted this to continue. He had a nagging feeling that it would be difficult for them to spend time together in the days to come.
He had no idea how he felt about Mipha. She was his best friend, sure, but these days, he found her constantly on his mind the way she laughed, 'maybe I should see where this goes," Link wondered.
"Link" Mipha asked
"yes"
"how long will you be here this time." her voice was quiet. He could hear the hope in her voice. The hope that he would be staying a while that they could spend d the next few days in each other company train along with Bazz, Gaddison, and Rivan. Go and play with Sidon when her father needed to have a meeting. It hurt him that he couldn't;t stay for long this time.
"I might have to head back tomorrow," Link admitted
"I see," Mipha said, the image of how she looked when he first left the Domain
"But let's not worry about that," Link told her "let's enjoy the time we have together, " Link told her
"Okay," she whispered back as she fell asleep again.
Link smiled as he got comfortable. He would have to deal with that strange dream when later, but for now, he would enjoy this moment with his old friend.
Okay, so what do you think? As we all knew that Mipha's feeling for Link would have to pop up eventually, and I wanted to do a unique take for it. I'll show more as I continue the story.
But I won't dive too much into it till Act III. We're still in Act II, but I need to set the stage for that
