So, I recently checked out the Linked universe fanfics and stuff, and I got to say they're rather good. So, if you haven't seen them, you should check them out; they're a surprisingly good bunch of stories.

Also, sorry for the lack of updates. Stuff has been going on, and I barely had time to post this chapter. Anyway, did ya'll see the trailer for breath of the wild 2 trailer. 2022 release, and I can't wait

Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled fanfic

Link before now had never been to one of these royal celebrations, so to say he was like a fish out of water would be putting lightly. Typically, during these things, he was a knight standing on guard. After all the fancy speeches and thank you, he would find himself outside either hanging out with Kiana until she runs off to find a bar than sitting by himself or, like recently, being joined by Impa. Once, she managed to sneak away from all the pomp and festivities, only to be called back when they noticed she was gone.

But unlike those times, Link found himself in the thick of the action, of course. The second the celebrations and the King's heartwarming speech were over. Link attempted to see Mipha and catch up with her and introduce her to Daruk because he talks about both to the other a lot. but it seems that Hylia herself didn't want him to

First, as soon as he started making his way over to see his old friend, a group of noblemen had approached him, each one asking him several questions that he had no answers to or felt like he should answer.

"where did you find the sword" one asked

"What is the middle of the lost woods," another asked, "and what is the large tree in the middle."

Now he definitely couldn't answer that Link just gave a smile before giving the vaguest answer he could think off "just a tall and old tree" was all he told them as he quickly excused himself, walking past. 'alright Mipha and Daruk' while he wished Kiana could talk with them. But she could come unless his highness asked, and well, neither felt like asking.

But just as soon as he was able to get away from the first group of noblemen who rubbed Link the wrong way too much, another group had approached him, and of course, Link had to feign a smile while hiding his irritation.

Talk, excuse himself, try to find Mipha only to be approached by more noblemen who would ask him the same old question or say some snide remark about his height and age. Most times, while he was talking, he would glance over and see Mipha or Daruk looking at trying to hide the laugh. They had both knew he was terrible at small talk, and both were probably enjoying or thinking he was trying to be nice to others

on the other side, little did Link realize two eyes had been watching him through "so is that the knight who seals darkness" it was Revali "I expected him taller" next to him was Zelda who hat the time was filling a drink

"yes," she said, "though I'm not sure of how prepared he is" she looked at Link, who a group of noblemen once again stopped

"buttering them up" was all Revali muttered "if anything, I look forward to seeing him in action," he smiled "then we will see if he isn't all talk" he thanked the princess before leaving to go talk with some Rito had come to support him

Zelda nodded, watching Link. She felt a slow pain in her heart

"everything okay little bird" she heard Urbosa's voice

"Oh yes," she looked back at Link, "it just."

"I see," Urbosa. "Don't go worrying about it," she said as she looked at the supposed hero of Hyrule. She heard tales of him but seeing him in person was a sight she wasn't expecting him to be so young. she wanted to approach him and ask some questions, but she could tell he was swamped and, in a way, uncomfortable. "what do you say we go and relax a bit" she asked Zelda.

Link had once again managed to separate himself from the noblemen who apparently wanted to measure him up, whatever that meant, as he continued walking once, trying to make his way to find one of his two friends.

"Ah, there you are, my young friend," a voice boomed Link, realizing who the voice belonged to, turned and immediately gave a bow as King Rhoam approached him as waved him off as Link stood up.

"I have a request for you," he asked. Behind him was Zelda, who was looking sheepish. "I would like to appoint you as Zelda's personal knight," he said. How could he say no? Still, then there was Zelda, who wasn't exactly his biggest fan but to succeed in defeating the Calamity. he would have to put his personal feeling aside as the Deku tree told him he couldn't let his own personal feelings guide his actions. If he does, then Ganon has already won.

"as you command, your majesty."

"thank you" Rhoam smiled at him.

"Link, there you are," Mipha's voice cut in as she walked up to him, only to stop once she saw who he was talking to "oh my apologies, it a pleasure King Rhoam."

"yes, it is good to see you too, princess Mipha," he said. "I must ask how your father is"

"he is doing well," she said "he sends his regards, he wishes he could attend, but he had duties to attend to in the Domain."

"well, that is quite alright," Rhoam said "thank you," he then started to leave, leaving Link Zelda and Mipha standing there in uncomfortable silence.

"Link," Mipha asked, "may I speak with you," she said

Link looked at Zelda, who had already started to leave. He turned to see his friend. he felt a sense of ease as she walked up to him "how have you been."

"been better," Link muttered "all this is just so much," Link sighed, "but enough about that, how are you."

"I'm okay," Mipha said, "it's good to see you again, Link."

"Same," Link said they had made their way to the side of the place, "so how are things back in the Domain."

"Sidon is excelling in his studies," Mipha told him. He smiled "he wishes you could come by more often" Mipha looked away, "but with everything that's happening, I don't think you'll be seeing him anytime soon."

"Sorry," Link said, "but ever since I pulled the sword, things have been"

"Different," Mipha finished, "yes, I know," Mipha smiled, "but I think you can handle it."

"ya think so," he asked

"I know so."

Link "how are Bazz, Gaddison, and Rivan"

"from what I've heard," Mipha started, "their training is going well, but Bazz is starting to get impatient,"

"he's trying to prove himself" Mipha nodded.

"he's going to get himself, and Gaddison and Rivan killed," Mipha started. "I was hoping that you."

"next time I manage to stop by, I'll try to talk them down," Link smiled, "but no promises on if I can do that, or we end up doing something stupid." this had earned a jab from Mipha as she looked at him with a smile, they weren't to close, but when he glanced over the room, he noticed people were staring at them.

"don't worry about them," Mipha said, clearly reading his mind "we're just too champions and old friends" she looked at him. "I mean, we are right."

"of course," Link told her. "you're my best friend."

"good," Mipha said, "I mean that's good" there was a hint of disappointment in her voice, but Link decided to ignore it "then you have nothing to worry about, right" she stopped when she felt Link grab her hand, giving her a warm smile, she nodded.

"thank you, Link," she said as they backed away.

"excuse me," a voice called the pair turned to see Urbosa, the Gerudo champion. She smiled as she approached "you must be Link right and Princess Mipha."

Link nodded as Mipha smiled" a pleasure to meet you," she said, "chief Urbosa."

"I wanted to get to know my fellow champions," she smiled as she approached. "I've heard many things about the both of you."

Link smiled as he rubbed the back of his head Mipha let out a chuckle, "don't mind, Link. He's just timid when it comes to the things he's accomplished."

"I keep telling you it's no big deal," Link muttered

"well, it is to me and everyone else."

"yes, from what I've heard, you managed to take out a group of Hinox" Urbosa smiled "what I would give to see that fight in action," Urbosa asked.

"you did what" Mipha nearly shouted as Link backed up

"it wasn't as bad as you think," Link muttered

"I swear, Link" Mipha was now rubbing her temples

"I take it this is normal for him," she joked with Mipha

"yes," Mipha sighed, "but it's who he is."

"well, that's an admiral trait," Urbosa told her. "I can't tell you how many times some of my troops have gotten on to me about the stuff I do," she smiled, "so I can understand where Link is coming from."

"Hey, little guy," a voice boomed. The group turned to see Daruk walking up to him smiling, "great to see you again" he then gave Link a hefty slap on the back, making him tumble over.

"it's good to see you again," Link smiled "this is my friend Mipha," he said, "so you're the Zora, the little guy, never stops talking about," Daruk said, smiling at her.

"Really now," Urbosa said

"and you must be Daruk. Link had told me quite a bit about you as well," she smiled "it's a pleasure to meet you in person finally."

"well, that's great to hear," Daruk smiled "it's great to meet you."

Link smiled as they started to laugh, and he felt himself laugh as well as they talked, trading stories and tales from their adventures. Link could feel himself smile. It was nice to among friends at one of these events. It definitely beats being alone and hoping for someone to take pity on him and actually try to talk to him. Besides, it couldn't get any worse, right.

Link was wrong, oh so wrong apparently. Daruk had the idea that they needed to follow tradition. Once everyone found out he was Zelda's appointed knight, he immediately said that they should do the proper ceremony and, of course, link. Link wanted to say no, but Zelda relented a little too quickly, and so he was no the center of attention, much to his utter joy.

"Sorry if I put you on the spot, Little guy," Daruk said sheepishly

"it's fine," Link muttered. He looked at Zelda, who was now talking with Urbosa. The duo had asked for some privacy. so, he obliged "just please don't make a habit about it," Link said, giving him a smile

"I make no promises." this got a chuckle out of Link he could stay mad at the Gorn, but he hoped that he wouldn't make a big deal about stuff like this in the future, but if he does there was little he could do

"Link," a voice called. He turned to see Mipha approach him and Durak "congrats on being Zelda's appointed knight," she smiled.

"Thanks," Link said. He looked at Mipha. There was something on her mind he could tell "hey Daruk, mind giving us a minute," he asked.

Looking between him and Mipha, he gave Link a smile and a wink.

"all right, brother," he said. He looked at Mipha. Apparently, he too could see something was wrong too but seeing as Link was her best friend, he was more qualified to handle it. "and hey little sis, if you ever need anything, know that I'm here to help as well." he smiles their minds flashed back to the group photo they took yesterday. He took a turn, saying he would talk with Revali, who was standing by himself, sulking as he left. Link looked at Mipha.

"Okay, what's wrong," Link asked.

"nothing's wrong, honest," Mipha said. "I just wanted to talk."

Link rose an eyebrow as Mipha looked away "just well," Mipha started to rub the back of her hand, "I just notice how tense you get when you're around the princess, and"

"Mipha," Link said

"well," Mipha sighed, "I guess you could say that all this talk about the Calamity is getting me worried," she looked at Link, "and I notice how you seem less talkative."

"Mipha," Link said again. His voice was quiet as he smiled at her. "I'm fine," he told her he was lying. The pressure started to set in on him, but he wouldn't allow himself to put that pressure on her. She had her duties to focus on. besides, he felt that every interaction they had, he was complaining, and for once, he wanted them to talk like the friends they were "you have nothing to worry about."

he saw Mipha give a reluctant sigh, but she smiled "well, as long as you say so" she looked at Zelda the few conversations she had with the princess coming to her mind "you know," she said, "she's lucky," she looked at Link as he gave her a confused glance "I do not doubt that you can help her in ways that you help others."

"I don't."

"Link," Zelda's voice cut in, making the knight turn to face her, "we must be of" she didn't look him in the eye, "father wishes to speak with me."

"now, princess," Urbosa's voice cut in, "be sure Link is ready to go" she motioned her to see Mipha.

"oh, I'm sorry," Zelda started, "did you need something, Mipha."

"no," Mipha cut in, "we were done talking; Link just wanted to check up on some of his students back in the Domain" she smiled, "you can take your leave."

Link looked at her. He wanted to say something weren't he and Mipha entitled to their own privacy as much as Zelda and Urbosa were? But one look from here was all he needed to see "thank you, princess" he stood up and faced Zelda. "your grace."

"well, if you're done here" was all she said as she started to leave behind them Urbosa stood next to Mipha she looked between the two she noticed that Link seemed less tense than he did a few minutes ago her conversation with Zelda rang in her mind her own fears and doubts mostly about Link. Still, she wondered what was going on. She would need to track him down and ask him.

Link and Zelda walked in uncomfortable silence Link had learned many things in the past few hours one, the sacred sealing power the princess was said to wield had yet to appear, which was a concerning factor in the grand scheme of things. Link felt a swell of pity. Her mother, who was supposed to help her, had passed when she was really young, so she had no one to really guide her.

'I guess I was Lucky, ' Link thought to himself. he was fortunate to be taken to the Domain, to have met Kiana, Mipha, and everyone else who had pushed him to keep growing and get stronger, but in the end, all she had was her father, and his advice was to put everything she had into her training

'maybe you can help her in the same way you help others' Mipha's voice rang through his mind as Link sighed.

'But how do you help someone" he looked up to see Zelda giving him a slight glare as she turned back to moving forward "how do I help someone who has a preconceived notion of who I am."

Link groaned as he and Zelda walked to her study "please wait out here," she asked. Link nodded as she went. It had been a long day, and Link could agree, but his day had just started.

"how do I help someone who doesn't want my help."

Alright, now here we are in Act III of the story, shorter than usual, I know, but I wanted a chapter that went over Link's thoughts about Zelda. This will be a plot point from here on out, so stay tuned
