Gil walks into Sara's empty office, he needs to put some papers on her desk. He sees the computer, it's on, she has something written there. He knows that he shouldn't pry, but curiosity overtakes him, he sits down and reads the short piece.
What is hidden behind your smile?
The one you show when you think no one's looking
It hints of secrets and admissions at the same time,
I just wish I could understand
You hide so much from me
But maybe that's my own fault
I told you things, showed you things
You weren't ready for it
You pushed me away
I was hurt, but now I understand
You're so afraid
I know what it is that scares you
But I can't figure out why
Can you please show me?
I need to know
I think I deserve to know.
He is unsure how to react. Is it about him? Surely not, she said she was over him. But it fit perfectly. He realized it had to be about him. The words hurt him inside. How could he have been so horrible? He had never meant- He sees movement in the doorway. He looks up and there she is, she pretty eyes full of tears. He acts on his instinct to comfort. He gets up and silently takes her in his arms, willing the hurt away. She tenses at first at the unexpected gesture, but she quickly melts in his embrace. The two stand there a while before they pull apart reluctantly. They both have things to do. The quiet smile they share as they part assures them both that things are going to change between them. And that's enough.
A/N: Love it? Hate it? Please let me know!
