Chapter 1
Why do we believe in the things that we do? When we never know whether it's real or not…
SPLASH!
A boy soon came out of the river dragging a net of wriggling fish out of the water. The boy smiled at the sight and carried the net of fishes back to the village.
Once at the village he made his way towards the market to a small shop that was owned by a middle aged man.
"Good morning sir" The boy called out and then released the net of fishes to a big wooden box filled with water.
"Well, well looks like you've caught a giant school of fish." The old man complimented placing ten gold pieces on the boy's hand.
"Isn't this a bit too much?" the boy asked returning the ten gold pieces.
"Why don't you take a look at the size of those fish you just caught? Don't you think they're a bit too much?" the old man smiled.
"Go on you deserve them" the old man
The boy smiled and made his way out of the store and into the already busy streets.
It was another busy day, men were working, women were shopping, and children were playing. Each doing their daily task without a sign of complaints, content with the life they had.
I then looked up to see a man waving at me in the middle of the crowd. I then made my way to his direction. By the time I reached him, he smiled and placed his hand on my shoulder. We then made our way back to his house.
"So how was your fishing trip this morning?" the man asked
"Good"
I then gave him the ten gold pieces which I earned.
"Looks to me you just caught the entire river." The man chuckled.
When were just a few steps away from the man's house I was met with hug followed by a kiss on the cheek by the man's wife.
"So how did our young fisherman do today?" she smiled.
"As good as gold." he then showed his wife the ten gold pieces.
"Let's talk more about it inside."
Once inside the woman then took out a huge loaf of bread from the oven.
"Where'd you get the money to buy that much flour?" I asked. The woman just smiled and said.
"This is from the money you've helped us earned." She then placed a huge slice of bread unto his plate.
"This is more than enough than my stomach can take." I smiled.
"Nonsense, you should eat more so you won't be so thin."
As I was about to touch my bread, she stopped my hand and said.
"But before you can eat that you should change your clothes, your dripping wet" she cried as she removed my wet shirt.
TING!
That sound always made me quiver.
I stared down at my wrists and ankles and felt the cold steel round my neck.
"Are you alright?"
I felt a soft and gentle palm cupping my cheek with eyes staring at me full of concern.
"I'm … sorry" I stuttered.
"Don't be" I was then locked to comforting embrace.
We stayed like that for a moment before I slowly pulled away.
"It seems that everytime that you hear that sound, your whole world just stops."
"Yes it does" I whispered.
"I don't know why but it seems to affect me a lot."
I knew the fact that I wasn't there child. I was found as a baby inside a cave on top of village's mountain, already wearing these cold chains.
"Don't let it" the woman said suddenly.
"She's right; you shouldn't let simple chains such as those bother you." The man smiled.
At that moment I thought that that moment would last forever. But I was wrong…
CRASH!
"Please have mercy!"
The village was under attack by a group of bandits known as the Demons.
The village turned into ruins leaving no survivors except me. At least that was I thought.
