Helping Someone in Need – A Carrie Fanfic
After reading the Carrie Fanfic story by ethanthedragon, Fighting for Her, I was SO impressed by that story that I simply HAD to write my own version of it, but obviously with quite a few differences between this story and the one that inspired it, so won't be an exactly identical rewrite, though some parts will be similar. Plus, during the lockdown we had in Ireland in the first half of 2021, writing this was one of the things that helped me to keep at least some of my sanity.
Like the original story, this is set within the universe of the 2013 Carrie movie, just within a different year. The main difference between ethanthedragon's story and mine is that this one will have a LOT more in it as well as my own original characters from my own home country (Ireland) as well as having some plot holes filled, having some major scenes expanded (I felt that some scenes in the original Fanfic were either rushed through or were just too short) and having some changes in some of the characters from the 2013 Carrie film.
One of the changes being made is that some characters from the 1976 and 2002 Carrie films will be added to this story to add a little bit more variety, which I felt was something that the original story lacked a bit of in some places. So, this fanfic will be a hybrid story with combinations, scenes and quotes from the 1976, 2002 and 2013 movies, as well as inspiration from the original novel by Stephen King where and when it's appropriate to do so.
From the 1976 movie:
The Margaret White in the 2013 movie is replaced with the 1976 character as played by Piper Laurie, simply because the 1976 Margaret White is an even more evil sinister person than her 2013 counterpart, whom I think is just a little bit sympathetic to Carrie, though not really by that much to be brutally honest.
From the 2002 movie:
Norma Watson, the very friendly, perky and good natured, yet not too popular senior class president from the 2002 TV movie will have a big role to play in this story as well, as she was absent from the original Fanfic and I rather like that version of the character due to her positive nature, which will be perfect for this story.
Roy Evarts, the boyfriend of Helen Shyres in the 2002 movie, will have a major appearance in this Fanfic with the 2013 Heather Shyres as his girlfriend.
Heather Shyres in this story will have the personality of the character Helen Shyres from the 2002 movie where she realised what was done to Carrie was wrong and where she complements Carrie on her prom dress.
The 2002 Principal Morton replaces his 2013 counterpart as the 2013 character just seemed to be a bit absent minded, whereas the 2002 character is someone who's sharper and thus much more to the point.
