The sun rose in Johto creating a beautiful golden hue in the largest metropolis within the region, Goldenrod, The bustling, brilliant city of luxurious splendor. It was early in the morning, meaning the energetic city was sleeping except for a few establishments. One of these places was the local game corner. It had popped up about a week ago, so business had been booming. Many trainers came in and out to attempt to earn Mr. Game's prizes. This morning the man had been enjoying a little break in the action before a girl came wandering in. The girl had dirty brunette hair that seemed pretty unruly. It seemed like she was still dressed in her pajamas, which was kinda out of place, but he didn't ask. She sat down at the Voltorb Flip table and had requested a match. That had been about thirty minutes ago, and this had been quite an enjoyable time. The girl had been a novice at the beginning but she had quickly caught onto the rules. She was progressively getting better at calculating the odds of where the voltorb cards were placed. She put her hand on her chin then pointed towards one of the cards. Mr. Game smiled apologetically and flipped over one of the game-ending cards earning a groan from the girl. He picked up the cards and began to shuffle them.

"So are you in town for a badge young lady? I heard that the gym leader here was pretty green but very challenging." Mr. Game noted while he was preparing to set up another game. The girl gave him a cold look but quickly dropped it.

"No, I live here." She replied. "It would be more accurate to say that I used to live here. I'm moving away later today. This is the only spot in the city that I haven't been to, so here I am."

"Oh you're a native then, that's nice. I'm originally from Sinnoh myself." He said. He finished shuffling the cards and took a look at the deck before placing them into position. "So how long have you been here? What made your family decide to leave?"

"I've lived here all of my life." She answered. She pointed at a couple of cards one by one. Mr. Game flipped them up revealing several 1 multiplier cards. "Born and raised. Live with my mom and big sister. My dad moved out before us to take a position as a gym leader. He's calling us out there now."

"Interesting, so where are you moving if you don't mind me asking?" Mr. Game flipped the last card at her request, and she cleared the board. He picked up the cards, reshuffled the deck, then laid them out for another round.

"It's someplace called. Hoenn, a completely different region." She said, releasing a sigh. Her expression seemed to sour greatly. She was disappointed with this turn of events. She pointed to another card only to reveal yet another Voltorb. She growled and crossed her arms. "A game based on luck is so annoying."

The door to the game shop flung open and a girl with pink hair flew in. She was wearing a pink shirt and sweatpants which matched her middle-length hair. I looked like she'd been running around for a while. She was breathing heavily and had a distressed look on her face. When she saw the girl and Mr. Game she released a sigh of relief before her cheeks puffed up.

"There you are, Shantel!" Shantel rolled her eyes and turned her attention back to Mr. Game who seemed rather confused about this situation. The pinkette didn't seem to like being ignored because she quickly fired off again. "I've been looking all over for you! Mom woke up and you were just gone. You guys have a boat to catch!"

"I left a note in my room Whitney. It's not a big deal." Shantel replies, rolling her eyes. "If you'd looked a little closer you might have seen it. Besides, I'm all packed and I've got an alarm set. I should be notified before it's time to go."

"Look at the time!"

"What do you… shit."

Shantel pulled out her Pokegear and checked the time. Of course, the alarm hadn't gone off. It had been faulty ever since she'd dropped it in the toilet. She should have gone to the Pokegear repair shop, but that'd be such a pain. She'd just have to see if Petalburg City had one when she got there.

"Thanks for the fun games," Shantel says giving Mr. Game a small bow. "It was nice talking to you as well. Helped me vent some frustration."

"Before you go, I owe you quite a bit of earnings from the last thirty minutes." The man said. He produced a small leather case and placed the coins that Shantel had won. "It's a coin case. It'll be good at any sanctioned Game Corner in the world."

Shantel smiled and took the case. She got rushed out of the door and dragged home. Once she was there she got an earful from her mother. Yadda yadda sneaking out in the morning was bad. Yadda yadda they could have missed the boat. Yadda yadda yadda. It didn't faze her much. Not compared to this sudden move. She had to uproot everything and go to some water-locked region. She couldn't even go on her journey through the Johto region as she'd planned. Whitney got to stay due to her whole sub-leader job which was just so unfair. After that pointless lecture, her mom ordered her to grab her bag, so they could catch the boat to Hoenn. There was one last goodbye to her older sister which put both of them into tears (even if she were a bit of a weirdo who dyed her hair pink). When they finally boarded the boat, Shantel immediately went to the deck and brooded. She'd miss Goldenrod City, not to mention all of the friends that they were leaving behind. Maybe after she became a strong trainer she'd raise enough money to come back. She pulled out a small handheld and began to play to pass the time. They'd be stuck on this boat for days, so she might as well get comfortable.

A/N: Hello! Yes, I'm bringing good ole Shantel's Conquest back into production as well. The same deal will apply as last time. The prologue of Shantel's Conquest takes place during the time that Alana Melody and Jackson were trudging through Viridian Forest. So the first chapter will take place shortly after Alana receives her boulder badge. If you have any questions, comments, or criticism for me leave it as a review. You can also PM me. I don't bite... often. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the Prologue of the revamped Shantel's Conquest.
