"LUCINA!" Robin cries out, begging for Lucina to somehow come back from the grave, but to no success. Lucina was dead, and Robin couldn't do anything about it. Byleth however, was more upset.
"Dammit! I was too late. If I had just been a little faster, maybe I could have saved her." Byleth said, with tears slowly beginning to fall down her face. All of a sudden, Byleth looked up waiting for the question of what exactly happened. Instead, she noticed everyone was frozen in their tracks. She was confused for a moment, wondering what was happening. Then she remembered. Divine Pulse. Everything around Byleth suddenly started moving in reverse, including herself. Finally, Byleth opened her eyes to see a contraption in front of her. Then she remembered Lucina.
"What should we do?" Rosalina asked, "It's point straight towards the training grounds, Marth or Lucina could get hit!"
Given a second chance to save Lucina, Byleth thought of a new plan.
"Rosa, I need you to run as fast as you can back outside and launch a Luma directly in front of Lucina!" Byleth yelled.
"Why Lucina? Isn't it possible for Marth to get hit?" Rosalina questioned.
"Just trust me! We don't have much time!" Byleth rushed. Rosalina complied and her and Byleth ran as fast as they could. They were running out of time and Rosalina was wondering why Byleth wanted her to only put a Luma in front of Lucina, but she still needed to have faith in her. She finally made it outside, but then…
"Lucina, look out!" Byleth called out, "Rosa, do it now!" Rosalina complied, and she launched a small, yellow Luma straight in front of Lucina. Lucina screamed, fearing for her life to end, but nothing happened. She then opened her eyes, only to see a Luma in front of her, with the sword plunged through it.
"Lucina, are you alright? You're not hurt, are you?" Byleth questioned.
"N-no, I'm fine. Thank you, both of you." Lucina responds.
"So what happened? How did you guys know to come back here?" Robin questioned.
"We found some weird contraption behind the wall over there. We noticed there was a sword in it, rigged to launch in 2 minutes. We tried stopping it, but nothing would work. I also noticed a small hole in the wall. I looked through it, and noticed it was aiming at the side of the field Lucina was on. So me and Rosalina ran as fast as we could. I called out, and then Rosa here launched a Luma, otherwise, you'd likely be dead." Byleth replied.
"Alright then, we should head back inside and warn everyone not to go outside. Thank you for saving her, both of you. Chrom would have been devastated, and I would have… no, we'll just leave it at that. Thank you two." Robin replies. Robin and the rest of the group walk back inside, except Rosalina, who holds Byleth back so they can talk.
"Alright, spit it out. How did you know the sword was supposed to hit Lucina? There should have been no possible way for you to know. I kept silent in front of them, but if I'm supposed to trust you, I need you to tell me how you knew." Rosalina interrogates.
"I suppose that's fair." Byleth replied, "I have this ability, it's called Divine Pulse."
"What does that have to do with anything? Does it help you predict the future?" Rosalina questioned further.
"Not exactly." Byleth said.
"Then what does it do!" Rosalina snapped, "I need you to tell me right now!"
"Fine! It allows me to reverse time!" Byleth yells.
Hesitantly, Rosalina replies, "Reverse time how?"
"It's exactly as I said. It reverses time and gives me another chance at something. The reason I knew it would hit Lucina is because I saw everything happen. The first time, I told you to continue attempting to stop the machine as I ran to warn them, but it was too late. I saw the sword impale Lucina through the chest. I saw her clothing get soaked in her own blood. I saw the blood slowly drip from her body. I saw her cry out in pain. I saw her beg to see her father one last time. I saw her scream in pain as she fell to the ground dead, never getting to see Chrom ever again. I was too late. I wasn't able to save her. So I reversed time so I could try to save her again." Byleth replied, tears slowly starting to roll down her face.
"Byleth… I'm… I'm sorry. I didn't know. But if you don't mind me asking, how many times can you, well, reverse time?" Rosalina asked.
"3 times. Though I can only go back a few minutes." Byleth replied.
"How many times did you go back to save Lucina?" Rosalina questioned.
"Just once. Now if you don't mind, could you please stop asking questions? I don't want to think about it anymore." Byleth said.
"Of course. I'll stop questioning you." Rosalina said, fulfilling Byleth's request. Just as the two finished talking, Terry came outside.
"There you guys are. I thought you guys were behind us, but- Uh… is everything ok, Byleth?" Terry asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Thank you for asking." Byleth replied.
"If you need to talk about it, I'm always here." Terry continued, "So are you sure you're ok?"
"Yeah, she's fine." Rosalina spoke up, "She was just thinking about what would have happened if we didn't make it in time. So could you please just drop it?"
"Yeah, sorry about that. C'mon! Let's head back inside." Terry said. Terry then went back inside, but before the other two followed, Byleth thanked Rosa for stepping in, then followed Terry back to the dining area.
"What?" Lucina was almost killed?" Corrin asked.
"Yeah, it was close, but Rosalina was able to send a Luma to take the blow for Lucina, so she's fine." Yoshi replies, "Rosalina is so cool! You should have seen it!"
"Stop…" Lucina said, quietly.
"Yeah! It happened so fast. Rosalina was so calm and collected as she sent the Luma out."
"Please stop." Lucina pleaded, but it was pointless. Nobody could hear her over all of the excitement.
"It was super awesome! I wish I could learn from Rosalina. I just wish I could see it again because of how awesome Rosalina was!" Daisy yelled.
"STOP TALKING ABOUT IT!" Lucina finally snapped, "I almost died, and you guys keep talking about it. I just want to forget it ever happened!" After Lucina snapped at everyone, Robin went over to comfort her.
"Just ignore them. Just snapping at them won't do you any good." Robin said.
"You're right. I'm sorry, I thought I was gonna die. I was so afraid I would never get to see my father again, or tell you…" Lucina suddenly stopped talking.
"Huh? Tell me what?" Robin asked.
Oh, it's nothing. Don't worry about it. I think I should get some sleep." Lucina replied. But before she could get up, Yoshi walked up to her.
"Hey Lucina… I would like to apologize for, well, you know. I shouldn't have brought it up. I know it must have been scary for you. If you'd like, could I cook you a meal to make it up to you?" Yoshi offered.
"You're fine, Yoshi. I shouldn't have snapped. And thank you for offering to cook me something. Though I was actually gonna get some rest. Maybe another time?" Lucina said.
"Sure thing!" Yoshi said, "Whenever you're hungry, let me know and I'll stop everything." Lucina got up to walk back to her room, but she stopped.
"Everything alright, Lucina?" Robin asked.
"Actually Yoshi, a meal sounds good right about now." Lucina said, ignoring Robin's question.
"Sure thing! What did you want to eat?" Yoshi asked.
"Bear?" Lucina asked.
"Sure thing! I'll get right on it!" Yoshi exclaimed, happily.
"Do you mind if I watch you cook? I don't want to be alone." Lucina asked.
"Of course you can. Come on, let's go to the kitchen." Yoshi said. Robin began to follow, trying to make sure Lucina was ok, but stopped when he felt a hand on his shoulder.
"She'll be fine. Yoshi will keep her safe, so there's no need to worry, lover boy." Link said.
"L-Lover boy? I don't know what you're talking about." Robin said, stuttering over his words.
"Whatever you say man. Just don't worry about her, Yoshi is perfectly capable of fighting should anything happen." Link said, reassuring Robin.
An hour passes, and a loud crash is heard from the dining room. Before anyone can go investigate, Yoshi pokes his head out of the doorway.
"Sorry about that guys, I knocked over the dishes and they all broke except a few plates. Robin, would you mind helping out?" Yoshi asked.
"Sure thing." Robin says, following Yoshi through the door.
"Thanks," Yoshi said, leading Robin to where the loud crash was, "though I didn't knock over any plates. It was her."
"Lucina!" Robin called out, "What happened?"
"Well, while I was cooking, she got out some of the wine and drank a few bottles." Yoshi pointed out, "She still ate the food, but when she got up, I tried to help. She insisted she could walk by herself but as you can see, that's not the case. Can you walk her back to her room?" Yoshi asked.
"Yeah, I can." Robin replied.
"Can you take her that way?" Yoshi said, pointing towards another door, "I don't want people to see her and start judging her. Oh! Stay with her tonight and make sure she doesn't get hurt."
"Sure thing." Robin said, walking Lucina back to her room.
A few minutes pass, and Robin has finally made it to Lucina's room. He opens the door and enters the room. He then slowly closes the door behind him and leads Lucina to her bed.
"I can do it myself, I don't need a babysitter!" Lucina says as she breaks away from Robin.
"Lucina, you're drunk. Let me help you." Robin says.
"I said I can do it my-" Lucina suddenly trips, but Robin manages to catch her.
"See? You could have gotten hurt." Robin says, and he lays Lucina down in her bed.
"Look, I don't need a lecture." Lucina said.
"And I'm not going to give you one. I'm just gonna stay here and make sure you don't get hurt, alright?" Robin replies.
"That's alright." Lucina says, "Oh! Robin?"
"Yeah, what's up?" Robin asks.
"Thank you, you're a really good guy. I see why my father trusts you so much." Lucina said. Just then, she leaned in and kissed Robin before falling back onto her bed and passing out. Even though she was drunk, Robin smiled as he slowly got off the bed and moved to the floor, where he kept an eye on Lucina, just in case she needed to get up for anything.
