A/N: Just another terribly short, meaningless drabble that came to mind. It seemed much longer in my notebook. Well, I guess you could say it's their thoughts as they're chasing after Sasuke and have to fight the Sound 5 (or something… XD)
Fighting.
Always fighting.
Naruto…
I fight for my existence. I fight so I will be remembered. Remembered as a hero, my name engraved in stone.
But stone fades…
I'm fading, drowning in this pool of lies, shackled by their hateful words. I'm chasing after some shadow, falling further behind.
Neji…
I fight for my freedom. I fight to break free of my binds, to see the open sky.
I am a bird locked in a cage, marked by a curse. I act strong, speaking confidently. Yet, my beliefs are being crushed. I'm losing hold of who I am.
Inside I fear what destiny has in store for me. I fear the truth.
Chouji…
I fight, struggling to be respected. I fight just to hear their praises, just to see their encouraging smiles.
I am determined to succeed. I'll finally come out on top. I'll be their leader one day.
But I fear I'm not strong enough. I lose confidence and fall, only to slowly stand up again.
I'm afraid I'll have to say goodbye soon.
Kiba…
I fight to be heard. I fight to be known.
I am never alone. Yet I feel like the loneliest person in the word. There's no one there to hear me, no there to know me.
I'm losing hope. No one will come to save me.
I'm afraid of disappearing.
Someday, they'll see me, though it might be too late.
Shikamaru…
I fight just because I have to. I fight so I won't let them down.
I'm their leader. I have to set an example. My decisions affect them all. I control the outcome, whether it is good or bad.
I just want to gaze at the clouds and live my life calmly. But I can't. I live moment to moment, no time to rest, always alert. It's the life I've been given.

We fight for many things. It's what we do as ninja. We cannot complain, we cannot ask for a change. It's what we've been chosen to do.
That's why we have to bring him back. So we won't let down our village. So we won't lose a fellow ninja, a friend.
