And I'm back with another exciting chapter of Remnant Unleashed. I am so happy that so many people are following and have favorited this story. Maybe it's because I am using the character who actually founded the rebellion or it must be something else. I don't know. Whatever it is, I'm not giving up with this one. I think I love writing Star Wars stories the most.
Anyway, onto reviews.
Mr. Shades42: Of course, Galen will get the abilities his clone gets in the second game, but that's not going to be for a while.
Bacara Best Clone Commander: Thanks for those words. And I think I might give your favorite clone a small appearance before his debut sometime down the road.
Alright, let's get this started. Disclaimers are the same as always.
Chapter 6: Players and Pieces
Just minutes before Ruby started falling from the sky, the young girl and Weiss were hanging from a large mass of feathers which was traveling very fast, blowing the two sideways. "Ruby! I told you this was a terrible idea!" Weiss shouted over the wind.
"We're fine! Stop worrying!" Ruby shouted back.
"I am so far beyond worrying!" Weiss yelled back.
"In a good way?" Ruby asked.
"In a bad way! In a very bad way!" Weiss clarified.
"Well, why don't we just jump?" Ruby suggested. Immediately, Weiss thought Ruby was insane at mere suggestion of such an idea. All she got for an answer was Ruby letting go of what they were holding onto which sent her plummeting down to the ground below.
"Heads uuuuuuuup!" she shouted as she fell towards Yang and Blake. She would almost ended up a pancake had it not been for the timely arrival of Galen who caught her in mid-air and landed safely on the ground, albeit a bit dazed by the rough landing. "Oohhhh… What was that?" she asked dizzily as cute Beowolves and stars circled her head.
"Eh-hem!" Ruby looked up to see she was in Galen's arms, held bridal style like and blushed a little. "I don't know what you were thinking, but jumping from that high up in the air is dangerous even for someone like you." Galen said. He let Ruby jump out of his arms. "Still, whatever you did to get here it was impressive." He added.
Yang and Blake saw the whole thing and were surprised to say the least. "Did your sister just fall out of the sky?" Blake asked.
"I…" Yang started. Before she could continue all four heard several crashing noises from the forest ahead of them as an Ursa came out, claws swinging before a pink blast of energy hit it in the back sending the creature crashing into the ground, showing the person crazy enough to ride it.
"YEEEE-HAAAAW!" Nora shouted hyperactively as she rolled off the creatures back. "Awwww…. Its broken." She moaned sadly before dashing over to the creature and checking to see if it was still alive as Ren came up behind her panting.
"Nora! Please… Don't ever do that again." He said slightly out of breath. He soon looked up and noticed his teammate and friend was missing and looked around frantically for her. He soon found in the temple staring at a golden rook relic.
"Oooohh…" she said curiously before grabbing the relic and placed it on her head before she started to sing and dance. "I'm queen of the castle! I'm queen of the castle!" she sang.
"NORA!" Ren yelled.
Nora soon stopped her dance with the rook piece still on her head, saluting her partner before dropping the relic into her hand. "Coming, Ren!" she said with a giggle and skipped towards her friend.
"Did that girl just ride all the way here on the back of an Ursa?" Blake asked.
"I…" Yang started to say yet again before a Beowulf came out of the forest and was about to pounce only for a green and blue blur to shoot past the creature taking its head off.
"Off with your head!" March said as he skidded to a halt on the ground before pulling out a tea cup and pot from his backpack, poured himself a cup of tea and sipped it. "Happy unbirthday." He said, sipping his tea before putting the cup and pot away.
"Are you insane!?" Rose asked as she and Arthur ran over to March. "I told you to leave the creature of Grimm to me! I had a clean shot and you got in the way and stole my kill!" she said annoyed.
"Eh, just a little. Plus, that creature couldn't see me coming. My semblance does slow down my opponents down." Marche casually answered while Arthur just put his hand to his face.
"Did that guy just decapitate a Beowulf in midair?" Blake asked.
Again, Yang tried to answer but again she was interrupted by Jaune who crashed through the forest and slammed right into a tree, knocking the wind out of him briefly as Pyrrha ran into the clearing with the Deathstalker still chasing her and uprooting several tree's during the chase and narrowly avoiding the creatures giant claws. "Jaune!" Pyrrha called out and helped her partner back to his feet.
"I'm good." Jaune stated, getting back to his feet.
"Whoa!" Ruby said in shock and leapt out of Galen's arms.
"Ruby?!" Yang asked.
"Yang!" Ruby said excitedly and was about to hug her older half-sister when a certain orange haired girl got in between them.
"Nora!" Nora said getting in between them and knocking them off-balance in surprise while the Deathstalker continued to chase Pyrrha.
"Did does two run all the way here with a Deathstalker on their tail?" Blake asked. By now Yang had gotten angrier than she was and erupted in a small burst of fire and her eyes flashed red.
"I can't take it anymore! Can everyone just chill out for two seconds before something crazy happens again?!" She growled. The tick-tock of Marche's pocket watch counted down as the rabbit faunus sipped another cup of tea while Ren ran over to Nora, everyone else looked up.
"Umm… Yang?" Ruby said to her older sister tugging on her sleeve and pointing up into the sky where Weiss was hanging from the talon the size of the human body that belonged to a giant Nevermore.
"How could you leave me?!" the heiress called down to her partner.
"I said 'jump'!" Ruby shouted back to Weiss.
"She's gonna fall." Blake mentioned.
"She'll be fine." Ruby said calmly.
"She' falling." Ren said bluntly.
Arthur saw this and jumped up into a nearby tree and with a running start, leapt off the branch and caught the falling heiress in mid-air before both of them landed on the ground safely. "My hero." Weiss said, bowing to the knight who saved her as a way to hide her reddened cheeks.
Meanwhile, the Deathstalker was still hunting Pyrrha and Jaune but both of them managed to land on their sides in front of the feet of the others. "Great! The gang's all here! Now we can die together!" Yang said sarcastically.
"Not if I can help it!" Ruby replied and with a battle cry rushed towards the Deathstalker.
"Ruby, wait!" Yang yelled to her sister but didn't hear her. Still screaming, Ruby fired Crescent Rose and charged at the oncoming the Deathstalker before both of them met each other face to face. The Grimm swiped its claws at Ruby, knocking her back.
"D-Do-Don't worry! Totally fine!" Ruby said nervously, slowly getting back to her feet. Once she did, she shot the monster in the skull, running away and sheathing her scythe as the scorpion Grimm now started to go after her. She tried to reach Yang, but the Nevermore flapped its wings and released lines of sharpened feathers which caught on Ruby's cape and prevented her sister from reaching her.
"Ruby, get out of there!" Yang screamed for her sister.
"I'm trying!" Ruby said with a struggle. Soon the Deathstalker was upon her, its golden stinger raised above a scared Ruby and heading down for the helpless girl while Yang reached out in vain for her sister.
"Ruby!" Yang shouted as blur raced past her and the stinger stopped just inches from her. Opening her eyes, Ruby saw that Galen was blocking the monster's stinger with his bare hands. "No way!" Yang exclaimed in surprise.
Pushing with all his strength, Galen looked to Weiss who nodded at him before the young Jedi sent the Deathstalker skidding back a few feet before Weiss leapt in front of the scorpion Grimm, waited for it to try and attack her with its stinger before encasing it in ice. Weiss then turned to Ruby and started to berate her. "You are so childish!" she began much to Galen's annoyance but Weiss continued to berate her. "And dim-witted, and hyperactive, and don't even get me started on your fighting style. And I suppose I can be a bit… difficult… but if we're going to do this, we're going to have to work together. So, if you quit trying to show off, I'll be… nicer." She added.
"I'm not trying to show off. I want you to know that I can do this." Ruby replied.
"You're fine." Weiss said before walking away.
Ruby breathed a sigh of relief, closed her eyes and clasps her hands gratefully whispering 'normal knee's' before she noticed the Deathstalker struggling to get its tail out of the ice while her sister ran towards her and gave her a hug. "So happy you're okay!" the blonde-haired girl said. The moment was then broken when they all remembered the Nevermore above them and it was now roaring.
"Uh, guys? That thing's circling back! Think maybe we should get out of here?" Jaune reminded and pointed to the creature.
"Jaune is right, there's no sense in dilly-dallying. Our objective is right in front of us." Weiss added.
"She's right. Our mission is to grab an artifact and make it back to the cliff. There's no point in fighting these things." Ruby said in agreement.
"Run and live? But I wanted to treat them to tea!" March pouted only to receive a smack to the back of the head from Rose. "Ow! That really hurt you know!"
"Are you really that eager to die?!" Arthur demanded. March thought for a moment before he finally relented, muttering himself before he grabbed a white knight piece for him and Arthur while Rose grabbed the same piece for Galen and herself. Ruby grabbed a gold knight like the one Yang picked up while Jaune took a gold rook much like the one Ren and Nora had. All twelve students soon noticed the Deathstalker was starting to break free of its ice prison.
"Time, we left." Ren stated.
"Let's get the hell out of dodge!" Rose agreed.
"Right, lets go." Ruby said to the others, waving for others to follow her.
Yang looked to her younger sister and smiled proudly before following after them. It wasn't long before the twelve students reached another series of abandoned structures as the Nevermore continued to follow them. Quickly, they spread out as the creature flew overhead concealing themselves behind several stone blocks as the creature perched itself on a high column and cawed. "Well, that's great!" Yang said annoyed.
Things then took a turn for the worse as the Deathstalker from before arrived on the scene. "Shit!" Rose cursed before emerging from her hiding spot, followed by the others but this in turn caused the Nevermore to rise up into the air.
"Nora, distract it!" Ren instructed his partner. Nora was happy to oblige and ran out from behind the block she was hiding behind and started jumping through the feather projectiles before reaching behind her and fired off several heart-topped shells from her grenade launcher which exploded in pink electrical energy and caused the Nevermore to retreat. However, she was unaware of the Deathstalker rushing up from behind her, but Blake, Ren and Arthur performed a couple of cross-slashes with their own weapons against the shell of the creature while Weiss landed next to Nora, created a jumping platform beneath them and leap to safety.
"Go, go!" Pyrrha shouted to Jaune as she switched her spear to its rifle mode and fired off a few shots alongside Ren causing the Deathstalker to try and swipe them, allowing the others to run again. They were quick to race over an ancient stone bridge, but failed to notice the Nevermore closing in on them until its giant wings shatter the path in the middle forcing Ruby, Jaune, Weiss, Yang, Nora and Marche closer to the central area of columns leaving Blake, Galen, Rose, Arthur, Pyrrha and Ren on the other side with the Deathstalker. Ruby fired her weapon at the retreating Nevermore as Blake is beaten back by the scorpion.
"We gotta get over there! They need help!" Jaune said as he came to the edge of the broken bridge and looked over to the other side to see the others struggling against the Deathstalker. Nora agreed, but when Jaune mentioned the about the distance between them and the other end of the bridge, a diabolical smile formed on her face as she laughed, knocked Jaune back, turned her weapon into its war-hammer form and jumped to the edge of the bridge. "Oh, you can't be serious!" Jaune stated before Nora slammed her hammer into the bridge throwing Jaune to the other side where he saw March also had the same idea as she did and dropped an exploding present down onto the Deathstalker. Jaune soon landed and used his sword to counter the pincers of the Deathstalker.
Placing one foot on the hammer Nora fired of the collapsing section of the bridge, launching herself towards the other side and slammed her hammer into the center of the Deathstalkers skull. She fired again just as the stinger comes down on her, but Nora was quick to avoid its reach only for her to knock into Blake and causing her to fall off the edge. Seeing the Nevermore above her, Blake launched the whip part of her weapon, allowing the gun's blade to sink into the edge of the bridge, circling around before leaping onto the airborne Grimm's back. Dashing over its body and slashing at the creature the entire time she jumped off and landed on top of the column's next to Ruby before moving to where Weiss and Yang were. "Its tougher that it looks!" she exclaimed.
"Then let's hit it with everything we've got!" stated, readying her gauntlets. As the Nevermore approached again, all four of them fired at the creature which either dodged the shots or harmlessly took them until it crashed through the columns and platform forcing the girls to leap from one section of falling stone to another until they reached a higher bridge, just below the cliffs.
"None of this is working!" Weiss pointed out. Ruby noticed this and looked towards another section where Blake whipped over to another section of the area while Yang continued to fire flaming rounds at the Grimm.
"I have a plan! Cover me!" the young girl said to the Heiress who was quick to reenter the fray.
(Red like Roses part 2, starts)
Meanwhile, the other eight were still dealing with the Deathstalker which slammed its stinger into the bridge section they were still on. "We gotta move!" Jaune shouted as he noticed the bridge was about to give way. All of them rushed towards the creature, Arthur, Rose and March firing as they ran while Galen leapt over the creatures back. The Deathstalker then aimed a claw at Pyrrha, but the girl was able to quickly deflect it with her shield and slashed at it with her own blade. The monster recoiled before swiping at her with its other claw, only for Jaune to deflect it with his shield before he stabbed his sword into one of its eyes. Growling in pain the Deathstalker was unprepared for when Ren ran up firing his weapons, getting on its stinger and fired at the base between the tail and stinger while Nora fired off more grenades at the attacking claws allowing Pyrrha to hurl her javelin straight into one of the monsters eyes and allowing Galen and the others to get around the creature.
Recoiling in pain again, the Deathstalker threw Ren to the side, hitting a stone block hard and falling to ground, not getting back up. Thankfully Ren was still alive and Jaune was able to notice the stinger was hanging limply. "Hit it with everything you got!" he shouted.
As if on que, Rose, Arthur and March activated their semblances. March switched his shotgun to its sword mode and in a blur of green and blue slashed at the Deathstalkers legs, hurting them while Rose fired off several rounds at the legs destroying them. With the Deathstalker immobile, Arthur used his semblance, focused his aura and created numerous blades which pinned down the claws of the creature. Pyrrha then raised her shield and hurled it at the stinger, slicing it off and causing it to fall into the Deathstalkers head and retrieved her shield. "Nora, nail it!" Jaune shouted.
Using Pyrrha's shield as a springboard, Nora fired a blast downward giving herself maximum lift as she smiled the entire way down twirling down before slamming her hammer into the stinger, driving it through the Deathstalker's head which then crushed the bridge beneath it. Jaune and Pyrrha quickly leapt over the monster, landing behind it as Nora fires up and away behind them as the monster fell to its doom. All of them minus Galen panted and groaned before collapsing to the ground exhausted.
Despite being exhausted they looked over to the Nevermore as it was being peppered by gunfire. Yang was able to land a blow on its face, only to have the monster turn towards her but the blonde brawler was able to leap for its open maw and forces the beak wide open. "I! Hope! You're! Hungry!" she roared firing round after round into the mouth, forcing the creature to crash into the cliffs only for it to quickly recover. Yang however, spotted Ruby and Blake by a pair of broken columns with Weiss rushing towards the battle as the Nevermore flew back into the air. Weiss however hoped over to the ruin it was lifting off from and froze the tips of its tail to the ground, leaving it stuck in the same spot before back flipping in a snowflake-circle jump and landed on the other side as Blake fired the pistol part of her weapon to Yang and both girls tighten it between the columns where Ruby was waiting in the center with Crescent Rose ready and bent back into a black sigil casted by Weiss.
"Of course, you would come up with this idea." Weiss said to Ruby.
"Think you can make the shot?" Ruby asked.
"Hmm! Can I!" Weiss said with confidence.
"Can't?" Ruby asked after a second passed.
"Of course, I can!" she clarified.
Ruby looked forward, chambers Crescent Rose as Weiss turned the black circle to red and released Ruby at a high speed causing the ground behind her launch to crack with rose petals flying from her assent. With each new shot, she got closer and closer to the trapped Grimm before her scythe caught the Nevermore's neck with the blade, causing them both to fall to the cliff wall. Weiss raised her sword and created a series of white circles up the wall allowing Ruby to dash through each of them up the entire cliff by firing her sniper rifle. Everyone watched as Ruby dashed up to the top of the cliff, circles up and fired one last shot, taking the creatures head off in a shower of rose petals. Landing beside the severed head, the body of the creature fell to the ruins. "Wow…" Jaune uttered impressed.
(End song)
"Well… that was a thing!" Yang added.
"It's not over yet!" Galen shouted as everyone turned around to see two dozen Beowolf's rushing towards them. "We've got more company."
"We can't take on that many Grimm! I may be a little insane, but I'm not suicidal!" March exclaimed.
"Leave them all to me. You guy's catch your breath." Galen said to the others, shocking them at the odds he was about to face. "I've face odds like this before, so there is no need to worry." He assured them, igniting his blue saber.
"You sure you don't want some ranged support?" Rose asked.
"I'm sure. Like I said, I've faced odds like this before." Galen reminded her before casually walking towards the oncoming Grimm.
(Battle, Iron-Blooded Orphans ost starts)
The closer the Grimm came towards Galen, the more it seemed like he was going to just get himself killed when one of the Beowolf's lunged at him with its claws at the ready. Luckily, Galen raised his hand and caught the claws before they could make contact with him and sliced the Beowolf across the torso killing it.
Narrowing his eyes, he charged towards another Beowolf before leaping into the air and landed in the center of the pack before grabbing one of the Grimm with the force and sent it flying towards the chasm behind where it fell to its death.
Reaching out with the Force yet again, he grabbed a slab from the ruins and sent it flying towards three Beowolf's crushing them with ease before unleashing a powerful blast of force energy towards another group of creatures.
One Beowolf did manage to get behind him and slashed at the young Jedi, draining his aura a bit but Galen shrugged it off as if it were nothing. Again, he used the force and grabbed the creature but instead of sending it flying he levitated it in the air before throwing his saber into its torso killing it.
Recalling his saber back to him, Galen continued his attacks on the Grimm. He sliced one Grimm across the chest while severing a pair of arms on another before he slashed his saber at another creature before pushing them back with the force, stunning them long enough for him to get in close and slash them across the chest.
"How is he doing that?" was the question everybody asked in surprise at Galen's abilities.
Looking up, Galen saw that he still had several more hostiles to contend with. A swing of his saber took the head off one Beowolf before he threw his blue blade at another creature, taking its head off as well. However, another Grimm charged at him from the left and slammed into him causing him to lose focus when he tried to recall his lightsaber to him.
Dazed but not down, Galen charged towards the remaining creatures of darkness leapt into the air and unleashed a powerful explosion which sent the final creatures flying in several directions all of which were killed by the blast. Landing on the ground, Galen looked around to see that they were all killed and recalled his saber towards him.
(End song)
Or so he thought.
A Beowolf Alpha from a nearby bush saw the opportunity and started to rush towards Galen but the creature was soon killed by barrage of blue weapons fire from behind which reduced the Grimm to nothing but dust. Galen heard the shots and turned to briefly see a figure in Arc Trooper armor with red markings before the figure quickly retreated into the woods. "Was that?" he wondered.
Sometime later, all of the new students had gathered in the auditorium where Ozpin was announcing the new students and teams for the year at Beacon. "Russel Thrush. Cardin Winchester. Dove Bronzewing. Sky Lark. The four of you retrieved the black bishop pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team CRDL, led by… Cardin Winchester!" Ozpin said as the audience gave another wave of ovation while the four students he mentioned walked up to the stage and took their places in front of the headmaster.
"Jaune Arc. Lie Ren. Pyrrha Nikos. Nora Valkyrie. The four of you retrieved the white rook pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team JNPR." Ozpin began while Nora laughed and gave Ren a hug during the clapping. "Led by… Jaune Arc!" he added.
Jaune was for the lack of better words, surprised to be chosen to lead this team, but looked to Pyrrha who smiled at him before giving him a friendly shoulder bump. Nevertheless, Jaune was honored and smiled at Pyrrha.
"Arthur Penwolf. Rose Henry. March Evergreen. Galen Marek. The four of you retrieved the black knight piece. From this day forward, you will work together as Team GARM, led by… Galen Marek." Ozpin announced as the names of the next group of students appeared on the screen above him.
"And finally: Blake Belladonna. Ruby Rose. Weiss Schnee. Yang Xiao Long. The four of you retrieved the white knight pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team RWBY. Led by… Ruby Rose!" Ozpin announced.
Weiss looked to her new leader in surprise while Ruby was in shock as Yang went over and hugged her sister. "I'm so proud of you!" Yang said.
"It looks like things are shaping up to be an… interesting year." Ozpin said amid the last round of cheers.
However, by the time night came down, Roman was not in the best of moods as he slammed his phone down after finishing a call with his partner. Holding a cigar to his mouth and lighting it, a man in a gray mask and black hood came in with a trolley. Handing the man, a collection of Lien cards, Roman instructed the man to open the crates on the trolley revealing a large amount of Dust Crystals. Picking up one of blue crystals and looking at his loot Roman spoke. "We're gonna need more men… he said before turning back to a row of 'special operations' AK-130's folded nicely in a large shipping crate. "… And we need to get these things online." He added.
Meanwhile, the mysterious figure from before arrived at an old Great War military base where men wearing the same type of armor, he was wearing were waiting for him. "Brothers, we've found a Jedi." The figure said, getting the others to look at him with curiosity.
And finished with this chapter. I hope I didn't make it look like Galen was super-powerful or anything but if I did, I'll try to rectify that in future chapters.
Anyone want to take a guess who the mysterious figure is? I'll give you a hint, he fired wielding a rifle and pistol at the same time. Anyway, please read and review and I will see you all next time with another chapter.
