Peppermint.

The word itself frustrated her. She had awoken that morning from a tender kiss from the sun, and almost instantly, inhalation of the tantalizingly sweet aroma haunted her. It was infuriating that she could not decipher the origin of the smell, but she decided to leave the dormitory in a hurry; perhaps it was Lavender's candy, or Parvati's.

She had gone to breakfast, after conveniently wearing red and white due to inspiration from that evocative fragrance that was stored inside of her sharpened senses. Walking to breakfast, she had hunted for the source of the scent, the source for her newfound and quite insane obsession of peppermints.

While foraging through the corridors to make her way to the Great Hall for a meal she needed, she shut out the smells of the oncoming passersby, looking determinedly for the basis of the peppermint tease.

She did not discover it before reaching the doors of the Great Hall, so, sighing disappointedly, she entered the hall and found herself on one of the scarlet and gold benches. She scooped food onto her plate, but felt slightly delusional as everything appeared to taste, smell, even look like peppermints. Her mouth watered slightly, her tongue licking the foodless spoon diligently as she tried to suck in the entire taste of the candy. The swirling sensation of cleanliness invading her mouth; the breathtakingly fresh taste that lit her tongue after every drop…

Unable to concentrate, she left the Great Hall, once again in search of her peppermint paradise. She turned a corridor, prepared to scope the library for any potential peppermint aromas.

Suddenly, she crashed into a being, a tall and strong being which almost sent her spiraling backwards onto her bum just from the sheer force of the collision. Looking up, she was captivated by warm, inviting eyes that were a fascinating mixture of olive green and stony grey. What aroused her the most was that she could clearly smell a bouquet of peppermints.

She smiled slightly to herself as he looked down on her with an eyebrow raised.

"Hello, Cedric," she greeted, her voice almost sounding breathless, her mouth dry from the bottled up saliva that was savoring the fabricated taste of the mint.

"Granger," he responded, looking slightly dazedly at her.

"Do you know," she wondered aloud, looking up at him from below her elongated lashes, "that you smell like peppermints?"

"I do, do I?" he smirked playfully, leaning against the wall, allowing Hermione to deeply enjoy the enticing scent reverberating off of his body.

"Indeed," she said quietly, quite entranced by the mixture of deep olive-grey orbs and the suddenly faint peppermint fragrance.

"And did you know, Granger, that you smell of fresh lilies picked in the mid of summer?" he asked in the same hushed voice, almost causing her to fall over again from the intensity of his stare.

"I do, do I?" she mocked, weakly, a smile beginning to tug at the corners of her mouth.

"Indeed," he mumbled and spontaneously swooped down to capture her lips with his.

She found it very, very alluring to discover that his mouth tasted like fresh peppermints.

This was originally written back in 2006, and my writing was terrible. I have since edited and otherwise improved this little drabble without changing much of the context, so I hope you still enjoy it!
