And I am back with another chapter of Remnant Unleashed. Once again, I would like to thank everyone who has favorited, followed and reviewed this story. Although I am not one of the best writers on the site, I am glad that everyone is enjoying my works. Being able to share my creativity is really something I enjoy.
Anyway, last time the Rebellion stopped the Empire from detonating a Trihexalon weapon on Naboo, resulting in the destruction of William Sutherlands fleet, the capture of three Imperial cruisers, and the loss of three of the Empire's special operations squadrons.
This is only the beginning of what is to come, but for now we return to Remnant where Galen answers what I think is an age-old question. What that question is, you'll have to wait and see. But I can assure you one thing, Mandalore is coming into the story.
Onto the reviews and PM's.
Darth Cody: Of course, Rick is trying to find his sister. If you haven't been paying attention, his sister is someone who… I won't say anymore. Now in regards to that other OC character you gave me, they will be appearing this chapter. Thanks again for the help you've been giving me especially with Galen's semblance.
Monster King: Thanks, but please tell what it is that you like about my stories.
54godamora: Thank you. I think I do pretty well when it comes to aerial, space and ground battles. If you think I did good with my last chapter, wait until you see the battle in the future where Galen earns the title of 'Demon Lord'.
Luffy L Deathstalker: Yes, it is a step forwards for our heroes, but with every action comes a consequence. Aside from Ruby, Jaune and Rick the mystery girl who was at the warehouse where the Torchwick showed off the Paladin is also connected to the Force. Who she is, that's a secret.
Jack Smith1: Let's talk about your stories in PM's like you said. I'd like to hear what you think about my story so far.
Spartan-626: You'll be surprised at what Galen's semblance is and how he unlocks it. I also hope that you have casted your vote on my poll in regards to the plane that Galen will fly in a couple of chapters when an old threat from the Clone War's arrives.
Alright, reviews are done let's get the chapter started. Once again, the disclaimers are the same as before, please enjoy. And please cast a vote for what Remnant based fighter you want Galen to fly.
Chapter 29: How Far Would You Go?
Their victory over the Empire on Naboo proved to be a much-needed morale booster for the rebellion. Once news of Empire's planned chemical weapons attack and defeat echoed throughout the galaxy, even amongst many members of the Imperial armed forces. As expected, the Emperor claimed that it was rebellion propaganda and that he would never condone such an action against his people.
Most of the Empire actually believed his lies, but many of them couldn't take the idea of possibly being involved in such an attack if it was true decided to defect to the Rebellion if only to learn the truth about what really happened. Not surprisingly, when these defectors heard what really happened from soldiers that were actually on Naboo decided to officially join the rebellion many of whom had given the rebellion intelligence about imperial military targets.
As for the distrust of the clones, the rebels were beginning to trust these soldiers after seeing them in action on Naboo proving without a doubt that these soldiers were not loyal to the Empire, but to the Republic and the surviving Jedi. In fact, many of the rebel soldiers said they would love the chance to work with the remnants of the clone army again.
"We lost many comrades during the battle, but we have gained new ones. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten and when the day comes when the Empire is finally defeated, they will be remembered as the ones who paid the ultimate price, not for us but for the entire galaxy." Kota addressed the growing rebel army as repairs to the fighters, bombers, interceptors and other vehicles began.
Kota then turned to Galen who had just finished loading the rest of the supplies onto the Rogue Shadow as Ruby, Yang, Weiss, Blake, Arthur, Rose and March boarded the ship. "I really wish you would stay, Galen. The rebellion needs you, but your mind has been made up, hasn't it?" Kota spoke to Galen.
"I'm needed on Remnant. But I have a feeling that our paths will cross again, General. When that day comes, I hope it's under more pleasant circumstances." Galen replied. "Besides, I have something to take care of on Remnant." He added.
"Would this have something to do with a certain girl with silver eyes?" Kota asked, getting a surprised reaction from Galen. "I understand, she needs a good teacher in the ways of the force and she has a power unlike anything I've sensed. Take care of yourself boy, and may the force be with you." Kota answered.
"And may the force be with you as well, general." Galen replied as the Rogue Shadow took off from the rebel base and made the jump to lightspeed the moment they were in orbit. It didn't take the group long to return to Remnant after the rest of the clone forces returned ahead of them.
Their return was sensed by Maul who reported this disturbance to Salem. "This could be a problem. The ship isn't ready for your plan, Maul." Watts pointed out. "About seventy-five percent of the ship is complete but we need more time to have it ready. You said that they would be gone for…." He spat before he felt something grip his throat, choking him.
"If you are planning on insulting my intelligence then you had best choose your next words carefully, doctor." Maul sneered before he let go of the doctor who gasped for breath. He then turned to Salem. "While their return is early than expected, I have a contingency for this problem." He spoke.
"Go on." Salem said, interested in what Maul had planned.
"Everyone has a weakness and I know this boy's weakness; the girl. If something were to happen to her, he would drop everything to save her. A noble and valiant effort, like Kenobi." He explained, procuring a substance from his belt and showed it to Salem. "All we need to do, is give young Cinder the tools she needs to keep him busy." He added before he headed for his ship.
It didn't take long for the Scimitar to land in Forever Falls, just north of Vale in a small but hidden White Fang camp abandoned some time ago where Cinder was waiting for Maul. "Master." Cinder said, bowing to Maul.
"Rise, my apprentice." Maul spoke, getting Cinder to stand. "I understand that a certain group has returned to the planet, far ahead of what we had anticipated. Well, I have something that will help keep their focus off of us." He added, handing Cinder a vial of liquid. "This is a distilling agent used for many drinks. Normally, it isn't poisonous, but if one overdosed on something tainted by it, such as tea one would become very sick. Since it is not native to Remnant, no doctor would be able to identify it." He added.
"And you want me to add this to Ruby's drink?" Cinder questioned.
"Yes. By the time anyone realizes what has happened, we will have completed construction of the ship and then begin the next part of the plan. Remember, young Cinder, you may have sworn your loyalty to Salem but when it comes to your training in the ways of the Force, I am your master. It was I who continued your training after that weak Huntsmen was killed by your hands. I see great things in your future, my dear but remember only together can we achieve our goals." Maul acknowledged.
"I will never forget your teachings, master. Once I have what I want, no one will stand in my way. I only wish I could be the one to kill little red when the time comes." Cinder answered before she walked away, leaving Maul alone.
Maul watched as Cinder walked away before boarding his ship. "Kenobi, you are not one to ignore the suffering of the innocent. If this doesn't draw you out of hiding, then I hope you can live yourself knowing that people have died because you wouldn't come out and face me." He said to himself before he piloted his ship back to Salem's domain.
Several weeks later, things were starting to return to normal for the students who fought in a civil war on a galactic scale. Well, normal for everyone but Galen who sat by the pool that was recently put in and mediated. 'Something about the recent actions taken by the Empire and whoever's controlling the droids doesn't make sense. First, the Empire begins sending the White Fang military equipment after they somehow managed to form an alliance with them, possibly by whoever was working Roman. Then there's all these droids, the droid army was deactivated after the end of the Clone War and yet there are probably hundreds or even thousands of droids.' he thought, drowning out the splashing by the other students who were using the pool.
His thoughts then turned to the vision of Vale being attacked by the Empire and again he saw Vader attacking Ruby, but this time Ruby was wielding the lightsaber she found. 'Is Vader going to come to Remnant? Is he already here? What is it that he wants and when will he return? There's a lot of questions and not many answers. Neo doesn't even know what's going on and she was working with Roman before she returned to her old self. Someone is trying to cover their tracks, but who and why?'
His thoughts were interrupted when he sensed something approaching him, said something was a beach ball that Nora had inadvertently sent his way during their game of volley ball between Team JNPR and Team CVFY. "Sorry about that, Galen. Nora spiked the ball a little too hard." Jaune called out.
"I told you he could stop it." Nora chimed in.
"Just be more careful." Galen said to Nora, brushing off the fact he almost got hit in the face. Getting up from his place on the grass, he walked towards the school, passing by Ruby and her team who were swimming in the pool. Ruby wore a red one-piece swimsuit, Weiss a white two-piece bikini with frills, Yang a yellow string-bikini that showed off her curves and Blake a black two-piece bikini that mostly covered her chest. Everyone else wore either swim trunks and bikinis of their color, except Galen who didn't feel like swimming.
"Hey, Galen. You going to come join us?" Ruby asked, swimming over to the side of the pool.
"I don't really feel like swimming." He replied.
"Come on, Galen. We've been working our butts off the last few days ever since we got back from… you know where. Try and relax a little bit." Ruby pleaded, giving him a puppy dog look until Galen finally relented and came back wearing a pair of urban camo swimming trunks, given to him by Trigger. "Bet you can't catch me!" Ruby teased and dived under the water with Galen following her.
For a former Sith apprentice and now Jedi who trained most of his life, Galen actually managed to keep up with Ruby and caught up with her. "No fair! You used the force to catch me!" Ruby groaned after coming back to the surface.
"No, I didn't. Besides, this is the first time I've actually gone swimming without needing to train." He answered. "Still, we should at the very least work on your skills with the force and lightsaber combat. But try not to bring that up so loudly. If anyone else finds out, they might think I'm crazy." He reminded her.
"Is training all you ever think about? You're just like Weiss when it comes to her studying." Ruby grumbled, only to have water fly over her head from Yang who just did a cannonball. "Ok, that's it, Yang! Cannonball tournament!" Ruby declared and quickly got out of the pool before she did a cannonball of her own, making a big splash.
Weiss soon swam over to Galen. "I may not agree with everything Ruby does or says, but she does have a point, Galen. Focusing on your training or even studies isn't good for you, even I know that. So why not take the time to relax and just forget about the Empire and everything else. I mean, look at Blake. Before she was so focused on the White Fang, but now she's taking it easy. You should do the same thing." The heiress said to Galen.
"Thanks, Weiss." Galen replied and decided to swim a couple of laps.
After an hour or so, Galen was drying himself off in the locker and was just about to change into his regular attire when his scroll buzzed, indicating he received a text message. The message was from Trigger who Galen told about his idea about learning to fly one of Remnants fighter planes while the fighter that was brought back from Yavin 4 was still being repaired. The fighter they brought back was according to Kit, was the Azure Angel a modified Delta-7 Jedi Starfighter flown by Anakin Skywalker in the early months of the Clone Wars.
Compared to the basic Delta-7, the Azure Angel was heavily modified for increased speed and control with a top speed of one-thousand, two hundred and sixty kilometers in the atmosphere. Much like the basic Delta Seven, the Azure Angel was equipped with both shielding and an Astromech copilot, R4-P22 who was a modified R4 agromech droid that handled the other systems while the pilot flew the fighter.
Unlike the basic Delta model, the Azure Angel was equipped with a hyperdrive allowing it to make hyperspace jumps without the need of a hyperspace ring and was more heavily armed with four laser cannons mounted on the wing-tips and a single proton torpedo launcher with a payload of sixteen torpedoes.
Although the fighter was destroyed by Ventress when Anakin fell for her trap on Yavin 4, R4 wasn't completely destroyed as everyone thought and Anakin's second customized Delta-7 was acquired by the rebellion used for the basis of the modifications the original had, which many rebel technicians began to modify at Halberton's request.
Since the fighter was still being repaired, Galen needed to something that he could use in the air if it meant that it would help him protect Ruby. Which was why Galen was looking at several fighters stationed at the airbase of the Vale Air Force. Along with the Daggers, Strike Dagger's, Scimitar's, Longsword's and Broadsword's used by the kingdom's pilots, among the planes were several F-5 Rapier Wasps, F-20 Rapier Wasp MK'2s and F4 Wasps.
A light fighter with an effective range of eight hundred and ninety-one kilometers and a combat range of two-hundred and twenty kilometers the Rapier Wasp MK'1 was a twin-engine supersonic fighter with a top speed of Mach 1.63. The fighter's armament consisted of two nose mounted 20mm cannons loaded with five hundred rounds per gun and seven hard points for missiles, bombs, rocket pods and a single external fuel tank.
The Rapier Wasp MK'2 on the other hand, had a more powerful and flexible radar system than the MK'1, making it a capable plane for both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. Along with the better radar, the MK'2 top speed was Mach 2 and had an effective range that varied between the types of missions it was designed for, despite the fact it was powered by a single engine. In the case of air-to-air missions, its effective range was five-hundred and ninety kilometers, two-hundred and eighty kilometers for close air-support, five hundred and sixty for combat air-patrol and one thousand and twenty kilometers for missions that required the plane to carry both bombs and fuel tanks.
For weapons, the MK'2 had the same 20mm nose cannons that the MK'1 had but carried six hundred rounds per gun and the same number of hardpoints as the MK'1 but unlike the MK'1, the MK'2 could carry air-to-ground missiles.
As for the F4 Wasp, it was developed as a two-seater, twin-engine fighter designed for interceptor and bombing missions during the Great War. The Wasp's top speed was Mach 2.23, several times faster than the Rapier Wasp and Rapier Wasp MK'2. Earlier models were designed to carry only eight hard-points of missiles and bombs, but during the Great War enemy aircraft armed with guns downed numerous aircraft when they got in too close for missiles, resulting in many deaths.
Later models were equipped with an internally mounted cannon directly underneath the nose carrying a total of twelve-hundred rounds for close in dogfighting. After the Great War, the Wasp continued to be used as Vale's primary fighter for both the navy and army before it was phased out and replaced by the Scimitar and Dagger. Nowadays, the F4 was regulated as a trainer aircraft and used for combat air patrols in close proximity to the city and in most cases, used by the White Fang.
Along with these fighters was another version of the Saber being assembled as Galen walked past the hangers and towards the command center where the Galm Team, Trigger, Colonel Bishop and Neo were waiting for him. "So, you want to learn how to fly a fighter? What brought this on?" Pixy asked.
"The mission to rescue Team CFVY." Galen answered. "After seeing everything that you and other pilots did, I can't just sit back and watch other people die in the air while I'm in a gunship or even the Rogue Shadow. If I'm going to fight the Empire, I need to be able to do it in the air as well." He added.
"Flying isn't just something you learn right off the bat." Bishop inputted. "It takes a lot of practice and skill to learn how to be an effective fighter pilot. Plus, it will take a long time to modify it for space combat like the five we already have. But from I've seen, you're the kind of person who would be willing to do whatever it takes to become a pilot." He added.
"Believe me, Colonel. I know full well that being a pilot isn't going to happen overnight. But this is something I have to do, not just for Remnant but for the fight against the Empire." Galen answered, turning towards the runway where multiple Rapier Wasp MK'1 and MK'2's taxied onto the runway before they took off one plane at a time to conduct their combat air-patrol. "Colonel, you and your squadron are the only ones who haven't fought or seen what the Empire is capable of. I have, same thing goes for the five pilots who helped us out over Naboo. Unlike Remnant, their pilots and fighters are expendable and can be easily replaced. Your pilots and fighters cannot." He added.
"Then that's a good thing." Bishop replied. "I don't view pilots or craft as expendable. When I fly, I make it a priority that my squadron and I come back alive. The same thing is true for most other squadron leaders. The lives of my men matter to me just as much as completing the mission. If I'm to give you flight training then that means you have to give me one-hundred and twenty percent. I expect only the best from you, kid. Do a good job and you might even be the right test pilot for that S30 the tech crews are working on."
"You mean the version that is said to be equipped with the latest avionics, canards and thrust vectoring nozzles for increased agility?" Galen asked, getting a surprised look from the others, except for the colonel. "Fixer sliced into your military systems in order to check for any other signs of cyber infiltration. Sure, Tech was able to remove the virus from the CCT but Fixer needed to run some checks of his own, I think he's trying to figure out who are enemies our, maybe even figure out where the droids are coming from." He explained.
"Not a concern if he's trying to figure out who our enemies are." Trigger stated, having grown fond of the clones and their courage. "So, what do you say, Galen? You going to try and earn your wings?" he asked.
Galen thought for a moment before he confirmed that he was determined to become a pilot no matter what it took.
A couple of days later and Galen had already learned the basics of flying. For his training, he flew a training version of the F4 Wasp with Colonel Bishop acting as his back seater who instructed Galen in several combat maneuvers, such as post stall maneuvers and High-G turns. Even with the force, Galen had a bit of difficulty but was quick to get the hang of it. "Need to work a bit on your stall recovery, but you're starting to be a natural a piloting." Bishop complimented after their Wasp touched down.
"Fighter planes are a lot different than starfighters. A starfighter you can just land on the ground without having to bring it into a hanger, planes you have to guide when it comes to landing them. Not to mention that they have completely different systems." Galen answered as he removed his helmet.
"A fighter is a fighter no matter what type it is. There is one thing that remains the same, it's the skill of the pilot." Larry said as he, Aaron and Rick walked over. "Did you know there are three kind of aces? Those who seek strength, those who live for pride and those who can read the tide of battle. Those are the three and us, we're true aces." He stated.
"I have a long way to go before I ever become an ace." Galen remarked. Just then his scroll rang and when he answered it, his face turned pale before he dashed towards the locker room to change out of his flight suit. "Trigger! Give me a lift to the hospital right now! It's an emergency!" he shouted.
"What's the matter?" Rick asked.
"Ruby's sick!" Galen answered, urgency in his eyes. Trigger wasted no time in giving Galen a ride to Beacon before the two of them rushed towards the hospital where the rest of Team RWBY, Team JNPR and Galen's team were waiting outside Ruby's room. "What happened?" Galen demanded.
"We don't know. One minute, Ruby was getting ready for her first lesson with you when she just collapsed and started to burn up." Blake explained, equally worried like the others. "She's always taken good care of herself and this just doesn't make any sense." She added.
Galen heard what Blake said as walked into the room where Ruby was lying on a hospital bed, still in her pajamas and her face looking redder than Dathomir. Zwei was sitting on the bed by his owners' side, whimpering in concern the moment Galen entered the room. "Ruby." Galen muttered.
"G-Galen." Ruby said weakly as her eyes opened up. "W-why am I in a hospital?" she asked.
"You tell me. I only just arrived after I heard you got admitted into the hospital. Guess it must have been all the training you and I were doing. It's probably my fault, I was pushing you too hard." Galen admitted.
"Hey, don't worry about it. I-it could happen to anyone, even Jedi and huntresses in training." Ruby stated before she coughed. "I'm sorry I made you worry. I'll be fine, a few days rest will do me some…" she continued before she started to cough again.
"Just focus on getting some rest. We'll worry about your training and everything else later, right now your health is important." Galen assured, pushing Ruby slightly back down to the bed. "Zwei, you take care of her." he said to the corgi who barked in acknowledgement as Galen left the room.
Once he left, he spotted Taiyang who was talking with one of the doctors that was in charge of Ruby's care and he looked devastated. "Doctor, what's going on with Ruby? What is her condition?" Galen asked the doctor.
"She's been…" the doctor began before the city alarm blared to life, indicating a Grimm attack was imminent.
"Goodwitch to all Beacon and guest students, a swarm of Grimm have broken through the kingdoms defenses in sector five, all nearby students are to head out and intercept these creatures before they get further into the city. Atlas soldiers will provide back up." Goodwitch's voice shouted from everyone's Scrolls.
"We'll talk later." Galen told the doctor before he ran outside the hospital and jumped into the Shark, much to Rick's surprise. "Sector five! NOW!" Galen shouted to the fighter pilot who kicked into high gear. "Captain Fordo, Captain Rex, Commander Cody! We've got Grimm attacking in sector five of the city! They've broken through the defenses! We're going to need some backup!" Galen shouted into his commlink.
"ARC-77 to Starkiller. We're on route and we'll be there in fifteen minutes or less. Just hold out as best you can!" Fordo shouted from the other side of the commlink as Rick and Galen drove through the city, weaving in and out between the cars on the freeway. "Trigger, your girlfriend is on route with one of the seekers, she was cruising like a bat out of hell when she heard the alarm." Fordo added.
"That's just like Neo, always first to get in on the action." Trigger said with a chuckle pushing the Shark to full speed as the number of cars driving past them decreased with every second. It didn't take them long to arrive at the area where the Grimm were pouring in from and too their surprise found that no other huntsmen or huntresses had arrived, there wasn't even any sign of the Atlas military forces. "Where the hell is everybody!?" he shouted as Galen leapt out of the vehicle with his lightsabers ignited.
They soon had their answer. "Attention all huntsmen and huntresses. It looks like there was a minor glitch in the kingdoms security systems, guess it fooled us all. Anyway, there is no Grimm threat so everyone can stand down and go about your business." An unknown voice said over the scroll, much to the surprise of the two already on the scene.
"This is Rick Autumn of the Vale 8th Air Division, 28th Fighter Squadron, Garuda Team. There is a Grimm attack in sector five. It's not a minor glitch in the security systems! The attack is happening now! We need immediate back up right now! There's only two of us!" he shouted into his own scroll, pulling out his weapon in machine gun mode, but there was no reply. "Damn it! This is Garuda 1, Trigger to all huntsmen, huntresses and military personal, the attack is real! Requesting back up!" he shouted urgently. Again, there was no reply. "Damn it! Galen, I'm not getting anything from anyone on their scrolls!" he shouted.
"Get in the buggy and use the machine guns! I'll deal with the Grimm on the ground!" Galen shouted, a fire of determination in his eyes as the creatures of Grimm approached their position. Dozens of Beowolf's, Creeps and Ursa's roared as they charged towards the duo. "We'll hold them off until back up arrives."
(Blow Me Away starts)
His blades shinning upon activation, Galen threw caution into the wind and charged at the Grimm who charged at him in return. "Get the hell out of Vale!" he roared throwing his sabers towards several creatures of Grimm bisecting them as Trigger opened up with the shark's machine guns, spraying multiple creatures with bullets, killing dozens of them. A pair of Beowolves lunged at Galen who sliced them in half before sending out lighting from his hands, electrocuting multiple creatures in a single go.
Bullets continued to fly towards the incoming horde as Galen reached out and with a massive blast, sent multiple creatures flying they were ragdolls. "Rick, hit them from behind! I'll hold them off!" Galen shouted, ducking a swipe from an Ursa's claws.
"Copy that!" Rick replied and hit the button sending the Shark flying through the Grimm lines, running over some of them like it was nothing and leaving Galen alone. Swerving onto a side street and turning around quickly, Rick switched from bullets to lasers. "Eat laser, you bastards!" he shouted and fired. Blue laser bolts slammed into several creatures of Grimm, getting some to turn their attention towards Rick who just kept his fingers on the trigger, blasting away anything the crossed his sights.
The horde was soon quick to split off into two directions, Rick firing away with his guns and Galen slashing and blasting away with his sabers and the force. Calling on the force, Galen dashed to the right, leapt into the air before he kicked off a buildings side and slashed apart any creature of Grimm that came in striking distance. Landing in the middle of the horde, he concentrated on the force and unleashed a powerful telekinetic explosion, sending dozens of the dark creatures flying in various directions, some of which were disintegrated by the sheer power of the ability.
A burst of laser fire from above blasted multiple Grimm as several gunships arrived on scene. The blast doors opened up and multiple troopers such as Hardcase and Hevy unleashed a barrage of fire with their Z-6's while some troopers utilized their grenade launchers underneath their rifles, picking off more and more of the creatures while Rex, Cody, Fordo and other troopers repelled down from the gunships and quickly opened up on them.
Along with the gunships, Neo arrived in her Seeker firing her vehicles machine guns the horde of Grimm as the booster of her car plowed through multiple Creep's, crushing them with her tires before she made a hard right turn and opened up with her vehicles weapons the same as Rick did.
"Hit 'em hard boys! Don't let them through the city!" Rex shouted as he fired his twin pistols at the incoming creatures of Grimm, allowing several troopers to lob a couple of grenades at the incoming creatures. The grenades exploded and took several Grimm with them.
Gunfire from a nearby roof top slammed into the head of a Beowolf as Rose and several clone snipers emerged and picked off multiple creatures with efficient and precise headshots. A gust of wind from behind several clones resulted in many creatures losing their heads as March swung his sword and fired shotgun blasts as Arthur sliced through Grimm after Grimm with Excalibur in his hands.
"Whoever called this a glitch in the systems clearly is up too no good. But for the moment, we must hold the line and push these creatures back." Arthur said with determination as Artoria pulled out her sword and lightsaber. "Let's go, cousin." Arthur said and charged forwards.
The two Penwolfs slashed and cut down multiple creatures of Grimm with their blades, those that they missed were downed by blaster fire from the troopers in the rear. A fire glyph ignited several creatures of Grimm, burning them until they turned into black mist as Weiss used another Glyph to accelerate herself towards Arthur and his cousin, slashing through multiple creatures with her rapier. "If you think I would let you and your cousin fight all these monsters alone, then you are mistaken, Arthur." Weiss told the knight.
"I wouldn't have it any other way, my lady." Arthur replied while Artoria smiled at her cousin before slashing another Ursa right across the chest.
Blake leapt in, firing and slashing at any creatures that got in her way, creating a fire clone that took the hit from another creature which exploded and ignited multiple creatures of Grimm.
Yang on the other hand, charged in and just started to punch and blast through multiple creatures with her gauntlets. Her fear and anger drew the Grimm to her as her concern for her sister and who ever put her in the hospital pissed her off more than anything. As a result, she became just as reckless as March could be, taking several hits while dealing out damage to the Grimm. One Grimm managed to slice off a bit of her hair and again her semblance activated as her eyes turned from lilac to red. Launching herself off like a rocket, Yang jumped into the air and punched the ground hard, sending multiple creatures flying in several directions. "I don't have time to deal with you beasts! My sister needs me!" Yang yelled.
Galen heard her from two kilometers away and knew that she wasn't the only one who was concerned for Ruby's wellbeing. A swipe from a Ursa's claws hit Galen and knocked out the last of his aura, but Galen didn't care one bit. Reaching out with the force, he charged up a Creep that he then lifted into the air and sent flying towards the horde before it exploded like a grenade. "Master. I have found something you might find interesting." Proxy said over the commlink.
"I'm a little busy right now, Proxy!" Galen shouted to the droid as he continued to slaughter multiple creatures of Grimm with combined force and lightsaber techniques while aura began to recharge. An Ursa Major soon arrived and caught Galen off guard, reducing his aura back to dangerously low levels. His eyes focused on the Grimm while the others yelled at him to fall back, but Galen ignored them and charged towards the Grimm.
The Ursa swung its claws, but Galen slide underneath the creature, slashing it across the back before electrocuting it with a blast of lightning. As the creature evaporated into mist, the last of the horde was killed by the clones, Galen's team, Rick, Neo and the other three members of Team RWBY.
(End song)
"Fordo. Find out where the Grimm entered the city and seal it up. Rex, Cody, see if you can send out a recon flight and figure out if the Grimm are going to attack again." Galen instructed the clones who did as he asked while he headed back to the hospital.
When he returned the doctor from before told Galen that Ruby was poisoned but the type of poison wasn't known to all of Remnant and if they didn't administer the correct antidote, Ruby would die. There was a silver lining, the doctors had taken a sample of Ruby's blood and found the molecular structure of the poison, but it was still unknown to them. Galen on the other hand, had an idea and took a copy of the poisons molecular structure and brought it to the base the Clones were using.
"Master, I think you need to see what I found." Proxy again urged Galen.
"I don't have time for this right now Proxy!" Galen shouted before he brought the copy of the poisons structure to Kix who quickly identified the poison as Slabin. Normally used as a distilling agent for drinks such as tea, Slabin was also known to be very toxic if the dosage was wrong. This sample confirmed that however Ruby managed to get the slabin into her body was extremely high and was also slowly draining her aura until it was fully drained. "Tell me you have the antidote?" a worried Galen asked Kix.
"I wish I did, but I don't. From what Commander Tano told me, a doctor on Mandalore found the cure during the Mandalorian Black Market crisis during the war. If we can get our hands on the antidote, we'll be able to save her." Kix answered.
"That's going to be more difficult than you think." Seydn put in as he walked into the medical center. "During my visits to Mandalore, I noticed that the Empire has tightened their grip on my planet and have been mining beskar from the Tokursh region of the planet. Lorka Gedyc of Clan Gedyc, a member of Death Watch has formed an alliance between the Empire and Death Watch. They've been mining beskar for years and are forcing my people into slavery, stealing our very culture. The only ones fighting the Empire on our planet are the Nite Owls and the Mandalorian Protectors. I have several connections with both groups so I should be able to set up a meeting between you and them so you can get the antidote." He added.
"You better do it quick. According to the structure, it looks like Ruby might have less than two weeks' before she…" Kix trailed off, noticing Galen's look in his eyes. "I'll do everything I can to keep her alive. I promise." He stated.
"Just do what you can. Seydn, get in contact with however you know in both groups and set up a meeting in the Mandalore system. I don't care if it's on an asteroid, make it happen!" Galen shouted before he calmed himself down. "Excuse me. I need to get some air." he said before he left the medical center and stood outside one of the hanger bays. "Are you going to tell me what you found, Proxy?"
"Yes, master. It appears that someone managed to infiltrate the city's defensive network and disabled the defense's in sector 5 before they called it a glitch in the system. Whoever did this must have knowledge of Remnant's communication systems." The droid explained.
"That's impossible! Tech and Fixer were able to remove the virus planted during the dance and destroy it! How could someone take control of the systems connected to the CCT without anyone knowing?!" Galen demanded.
"I can't answer that, master. All I know is that someone was able to do so and have not been able to determine the location of where the infiltration occurred. Despite the primitive technology of this planet, it's communication systems are advanced by imperial standards." The droid explained.
"Well, that's just great!" Galen said with sarcasm as Seydn entered the hanger.
"I've spoken with my contacts. They've agreed to meet with you and by extension your teammates." The Mandalorian Jedi stated. "It's obvious that your teammates will be wanting to assist you on this mission and no matter what you say, they will be going with you." He added.
"I'm not going to drag…" he began, but Seydn cut him off.
"I don't care if you don't want to drag your teammates into this. But Mandalore is a warzone. Both the Protectors and Nite Owls are waging a war against the invaders of their home world. Curfews have been placed and people are getting desperate, desperate enough that they will turn to terrorism much like Death Watch used to be. Add the fact that Death Watch and Empire are working together, Death Watch has those who were trained to combat Jedi." Seydn continued.
Galen sighed and relented, knowing that the CQC teacher was right. "Where are we meeting your contacts?" he asked.
"Concord Dawn. It's a planet in the Mandalore System and has strong ties to Mandalore. Many Mandolorian warriors like Jaster Mereel and Jango Fett. Jaster, Jango's adoptive father issued a new guide line in the Mandalorian Supercommando codex to those who wished to fight as highly-paid soldiers do so with honor. Jango Fett on the other hand he, like his adoptive father were part of the True Mandalorian's before he became a bounty hunter and later the genetic template for the Clone Army, before his death at the beginning of the war, by Master Windu." Seydn explained, several hours later to the members of Team GARM who had put on the same gear they wore then were working with the rebellion, except for Arthur who's armor strangely passed as Mandalorian after extensive modifications done by one of Seydn's contacts when he traveled off world as a bounty hunter.
Once the final checks were made, the Rogue Shadow took off from Remnant, broke through the atmosphere before making the jump to lightspeed. Galen didn't like the fact that he was leaving Ruby, especially since that the Grimm were still coming in through sector five. Though Rex and Ahsoka assured him that they would be able to handle the Grimm horde, Galen felt like something about this was off.
It felt like days to Galen after an hour or so of traveling through hyperspace did the Rogue Shadow finally arrive at Concord Dawn. "So, this planet, what exactly can we expect from a place like this?" Rose asked as the modified imperial transport headed towards the surface.
"It's a frontier planet, with deserts, jungles, forests and plains. It's primarily an agricultural planet so there are plenty of farms, but they are barely managed. Both the Nite Owls and Protectors have an outpost on the planet, if only to keep an eye out for their people. I did hear the Protectors have been fighting against the Empire." Seydn answered.
"Hate to interrupt this little history lesson, but we've got something on scopes and it doesn't look like its friendly." March interrupted. Sure, enough the rabbit faunus was correct. Multiple Gauntlet fighters streaked past the Rogue Shadow, each of them bearing the mark of Death Watch. "I take those are Death Watch fighters?" he asked.
"Yes, those are Death Watch fighters and they are heading right towards our rendezvous point with our contacts!" Seydn shouted. That was all Galen needed to hear before he pushed the Rogue Shadow's engines to full power, following the fighters before they managed to reach the rendezvous point where a battle between the Protectors, Nite Owls and Death Watch was underway.
"Proxy, open the boarding ramp! I'll give the others some support while you find a place to land the ship!" Galen instructed, much to the protest of the others who were ignored before he jumped out of the ship, followed by Seydn who used his jet-pack to keep himself in the air. "I don't need your help!" Galen shouted, landing on the ground and creating a shockwave that knocked many of the combatants off their feet.
Everyone fighting soon stopped fighting as Galen ignited his lightsabers, identifying himself as a Jedi and forced the Death Watch members to fire at him. The Nite Owls and Protectors on the other hand, watched as Galen braved blaster fire and attacked the Death Watch much to their surprise since Mandalore didn't have a good relationship with the Jedi. One of the Nite-Owl's on the other hand, smirked under their helmet, remembering the time when they worked with a Jedi briefly when the Mandalorian civil war began eighteen years ago.
(Getting Away with Murder starts)
Much like he did with the Empire, Galen didn't even consider holding back against Death Watch, leaping over one of the Imperial-allied Mandalorian's, slashed at their jetpack which malfunctioned. Reaching out with the force, Galen grabbed the Death Watch member and redirected them towards their own allies, many of whom were killed when the jetpack exploded.
"Jedi! Blast him!" one of the Death Watch members shouted, firing their carbine at Galen who deflected shot after shot even after other Death Watch members fired their WESTAR-35 blaster pistols, prompting Galen to ignite his second lightsaber, doubling his defense. Shots were deflected before Galen unleashed a powerful blast of force power, knocking many of his opponents around like rag-dolls before he dashed forwards and slashed many of his enemies with his blue and green sabers.
"What is wrong with you fools! He's just one boy! Kill him!" a Death Watch member shouted from the rear as a Gauntlet fighter was pulled out of the sky and exploded after crashing into another fighter. Another fighter was blasted out of the sky by a rocket, courtesy of Seydn's jetpack before as the Rogue Shadow hovered for a few moments as the rest of Team GARM entered the battle.
"More fools! Handle these traitors and the children. I'll deal with the Jedi!" the Death Watch member snarled, drawing a hilt from a slot in one of their gauntlets before activating their jetpack and shot towards Galen, crashing into him and knocking both of them away from the battle.
"So, a Jedi is still alive and fighting against the galaxies, greatest warriors. Finally, a challenge." The member said, activating a lightsaber similar to the Dark Saber, but with a blood red blade. "I have trained for the day I fight someone worthy of my time. Now I will become a true warrior of Mandalore." They shouted.
Galen said nothing as his opponent charged at him with their blade thirsty for blood. Galen parried each of his opponents attacks, all of which were sloppy and not as refined as the skills of Kota, Shaak Ti and Kazdan. His opponent soon charged in with a thrusting attack, allowing Galen to kill them with ease, only to find that several other warriors much like the one he just slain arrived, each of their own weapons ready for battle. For the first time since he arrived on Remnant, Galen's channeled his anger into his attacks, cutting down all those who got in his way.
(End song)
Noticing that Galen was dealing with a new problem, Seydn drew his lightsaber and ignited one of its yellow blades while also drawing one of his Wester-35's. With a lightsaber in his left hand and pistol in the other, Seydn slashed at any Death Watch warriors that got in close while shooting at any that were in range. "Fight for Mandalore!" he shouted, firing a burst of blaster fire that nailed several enemies in the chest, killing them.
"You heard him! Fight for Mandalore!" The Nite-Owl from earlier shouted, identifying themselves as a woman, rocketing into the air with several other Nite-Owls by their side before they fired their jetpacks missiles, destroying several more enemy Gauntlet fighters.
"Forward brothers! Fight with honor like our people before us!" one of the Protectors shouted, their armor-colored green, black and grey compared to the Nite-Owl's metallic grey and blue. The Protector raised their EE-3 carbine and fired off several shots, taking out a few Death Watch warriors while others tossed grenades towards their foes, killing several enemies while taking some losses of their own.
Other Nite-Owl's and Protectors drew Mandalorian made Vibroswords and Vibroblades and began to clash with the Death Watch forces in close combat using their own bladed weapons which were also like the Dark Saber, but had a blood red blade instead of the basic black blade.
Blades clashed against one another as warriors on both sides were slashed across the chest, beheaded and stabbed. Sedyn parried the blade of three enemy swordsmen and killed them with a horizontal slash across the chest before he sheathed his lightsaber and drew out his fallen masters double-bladed lightsaber. Its twin yellow blades ignited just in time to save several enemy blades.
"There must be both light and dark." He said to himself before he ducked down and swung his lightsaber above his head with the force, taking the heads off several enemy warriors. "I will do what I must to keep the balance, as the balance is what holds all life. There is no good without evil, but evil cannot be allowed to flourish." He continued, cutting down more Death Watch forces with his master's lightsaber before shutting down of the blades and drew his own lightsaber. "There is passion, yet peace; serenity, yet emotion; chaos, yet order."
Most of the Death Watch forces, were puzzled at what Seydn was saying some of whom were killed by a quick slash across the chest that they couldn't even see before they fell over, dead. "I am a wielder of the flame, a champion of balance. I am a guardian of life. I am a Grey Jedi." he finished.
Arthur heard Seydn's little reciting as he parried an attack from another Death Watch swordsmen before killing them with slash across the torso as a Nite-Owl fired their blasters at an enemy he didn't see. "Many thanks, my comrade." He said before switching his sword into blaster mode and opened up on several airborne Death Watch soldiers.
Some of the aerial Death Watch forces were gunned down by Arthur, while the rest were gunned down by Rose who had taken up a sniper position on a nearby hilltop. "Got them! I am…" she began before several rockets were launched towards her location. "Shit!" she cursed and darted from her position before the rockets exploded, kicking up a cloud of dirt and grass. A quick holstering of her sniper rifle and switch to her blaster rifle was followed up by a barrage of blaster bolts at the forces who fired the rockets at her. "Damn these bastards! Selling out their own people and siding with the Empire, they got no respect for their people!" she snarled.
"Every group has its traitors! These guys are just traitors who use terrorist tactics!" March shouted as he loaded a new power pack into his DLT-19, popped out of cover and fired. A barrage of blaster fire mowed down several Death Watch forces. "Come on you bastards! Show me what you got! Let me show you what my sister taught me!"
His words and voice were noticed by a nearby female Nite-Owl who was quick to fire their WESTAR-35 at a Death Watch warrior that was about to take a pot shot at the Rabbit Faunus. The enemy combatant fell to the ground as the remaining Death Watch forces began to retreat back into their remaining Gauntlet fighters, flying away. "Is it over all ready!?" March asked.
"It looks that way." the Nite-Owl leader said, removing their helmet and revealing their red hair and light green hair. "So, Seydn. It looks like we meet again after a long time. How long has it been since you supplied us with those weapons? Two months, three months?"
"Three and a half months to be precise." Sedyn replied. "You should know me by now, Bo. I keep my word."
Bo-Katan Kyrze, sister of Duchess Satine Kyrze, the fallen leader of the 'New Mandalorian's' smiled before she shook Seydn's hand with a smile. "Your efforts helped us out greatly with our supply issue. To think that the Ghost of Mandalore would be both a bounty hunter and a teacher at a school on another planet." she chuckled.
"Fate can sometimes surprise you." Seydn replied with a chuckle of his own before he turned towards Galen who killed quite a few Death Watch swordsmen. "I think you can already figure out he is the reason I contacted both you and the Protectors. Though I am surprised you asked us to meet you here instead of on Mandalore." He admitted.
"Mandalore is under an imperial blockade. Only vessels authorized by the Empire can enter the system and it's mostly been imperial ships. Very few trader and merchant ships have been able to land at the cities and we can't risk revealing the location of our base on our very planet." she explained.
"Maybe we should discuss this somewhere else." Fenn Shysa, the leader of the Protectors inputted, removing his helmet and revealing his blonde hair and blue eyes. "Once those Death Watch forces inform their commanders of their failure, they will return with a larger force, especially since they now know that a Jedi was seen here." he added.
"Agreed. Everyone help the wounded and get them on the ships. The fallen as well, we will burry them as true warriors instead of leaving their corpses for scavengers and the empire!" Bo shouted as both Protector and Nite-Owl gathered up their wounded and dead allies, loading them onto their own Gauntlet fighters and even the Rogue Shadow before the left the sight of the battle several minutes later.
The group of ships traveled on for an hour before they arrived at a joint Nite-Owl and Protector outpost hidden deep in the jungle. When the ships touched down, Galen and his team saw that many of the people at this outpost weren't just Mandalorian, but of various species. Twi'lek, Rodian, Togruta, Mirialan, Zabrak, Wookie's and Pantorans helped unload the wounded and dead from the ships, many of shed tears of sadness for the fallen. "What's with all the different aliens?" March asked.
"They are foundlings." Bo answered. "By our creed, Mandalorian's will never leave a child too their fate if we encounter them on the battlefield or a mission. Species doesn't matter to us; we raise them like warriors until they come of age or if we can reunite them with their own kind."
"So basically, you foster them until someone comes looking for them or you decide to raise them as if they were your own. Wow, kind of like fostering dogs." Rose remarked with a smile.
"Never heard of a Dog, but you'd be surprised at how many of children we find, that have resorted to doing anything just to survive in the galaxy. Here, we offer them a better choice and give them purpose." Fenn answered. "So, who's the Jedi?" he asked.
"My name is Galen Marek. My father, Kento Marek was killed by Darth Vader years ago. I am the leader of Team GARM, first year students of Beacon Academy." Galen began as he stepped forwards. "And I ask you to help us." He finished.
"Follow us and we'll talk." Bo replied.
After they were led into a building not far from the barracks, Galen explained the situation and much to his surprise, Bo was very, very pissed off. "Poisoning a child with Slabin! Whoever did this to your friend is nothing more than a coward. Back when I was in Death Watch, I would never even think of poisoning children, especially my own people." She snarled.
"Yet you had no problem in using criminal groups like the Pykes, Hutt Clans and Black Sun to create panic and chaos in the streets of your own cities, making yourselves look like the saviors of your people." Seydn retorted.
"I only wanted Mandalore to return to its warrior ways. We were once feared as warriors for our skills, culture and training, but we still valued honor and pride. My sister spoke for those like her who despised our violent ways and lead us into a more peaceful era. That era ended when she was murdered by that Zabrak right in front of the Jedi she loved all for revenge. I am a warrior, but I am not a terrorist. I will do whatever it takes to make up for my mistakes and I'll start by helping a Jedi." Bo stated, looking directly at Galen. "If you want the antidote for Slabin poisoning, then the only place to find it is on Mandalore. Doctor Zak Zaz, one of those who helped in putting an end to the tea smuggling that caused so many children to become sick has been taken by the Empire." She added.
"Why would they want a doctor? Doesn't it seem kind of redundant if they consider their own troops expendable?" March asked.
"It's because of that bastard Lorka Gedyc!" the warrior from earlier snarled. "He allied with the Empire as a mean of trying to restore our people to their former glory. All he's done is turned Mandalorian's against one another. Mandalore will never be ruled by an outsider, especially those who would use chemical weapons against civilians!"
"The Empire will do anything to send a message to the 'dissidents' that reject their rule, especially since their rule was built on a lie." Arthur said with disgust. "But that doesn't answer the question as to why the Empire has the doctor."
"It's because they want the doctor to create more of the antidote for their own force, but the local imperial commander has been hording the supply of antidotes for themselves, selling it for a high price on the black market. Seems once again that corruption has come to Mandalore and it's the Empire that brought it, even if it's only one person." Fenn said with disgust.
Galen heard this and it made his blood boil. "People are dying across the galaxy from Slabin poisoning and this bastard has the nerve to sell the antidote on the black market for a high price! BASTARD!" Galen shouted, crushing a datapad with the force.
"I needed that!" the warrior shouted in anger.
"Give me the location of the base! I'll get the antidote myself!" he demanded, his eyes briefly turning yellow as he felt the pull of the dark side.
"Easy there, boss man." March told Galen, putting a hand on his shoulder. "We're all concerned about Ruby and want the same thing. But if we rush in recklessly, we'll end up getting killed and Ruby will die. My sister would have done anything to save me, but even she would know better than to just rush in without a plan." The rabbit faunus said in one his rare moments of actually making sense, not noticing the reaction from the female warrior.
"If you want the antidote, then you need to know what you're dealing with." Bo said, pulling up a display of the imperial base on the holo-table. "The base is heavily fortified and has four battalions of troopers guarding the base with turrets positioned in towers, multiple tanks and scout walkers. Even a couple of squadrons of TIE fighters for air cover. A full-frontal assault on the base is ill advised unless you can get a couple of pilots crazy enough to attack the base. Then there is the problem with getting onto the planet. Your ship has stealth capabilities, but it won't matter unless you can smuggle a squadron of fighters past the blockade, assemble them for the attack and then disassemble them before leaving the planet, all without getting killed." She added.
"I know a few aces who can help us." Galen told her.
Several hours later, a non-rebellion affiliated GR-75 transport dropped out of hyperspace over Mandalore and was granted clearance by the imperial blockade for landing at Keldabe, the capital of Mandalore but instead of landing at the city, the transport landed several kilometers away from Sundari and rolling out of the ship's cargo hold were the Daggers of the Galm Team, the Strike Dagger of Neo and the Scimitar of Trigger. When Galen told Bo that he was only calling for four pilots, she thought he had a death wish, that is until Galen told her about the exploits of the pilots.
"Well, they aren't Gauntlet fighters, but something tells me that these craft are a lot tougher than they look." Bo admitted, catching a glimpse at Trigger after he removed his helmet. "You've got a kid flying one of these things?" She asked.
"Come again?" Rick asked in confusion. "I may only be eighteen, but I've been trained by the best fighter pilots in all of Remnant and they were once mercenary's before they joined the air force. I'm a damn good pilot." He countered.
"I meant no disrespect. I was just surprised that you're very young for a pilot." She corrected, walking towards Rick and looked at him in his eyes. "Your eyes burn with the fire of a warrior, a warrior of both the land and air. I guess I'll have to wait until the show starts." She added.
"You'll see them in action soon enough." Galen told the Nite-Owl leader as he and his team walked over with R5 who brought up a display of the imperial base. "Here's the plan, the Galm and Garuda teams will strafe the base with cannon fire, taking out as many tanks and walkers as they can in a single pass. By then, the base will launch its fighters to purse them, that will be our signal to attack. Bo, Fenn and their forces will surround the base and attack right after our air support, destroying the communications tower to prevent the Empire from calling in backup and eliminate any remaining enemy armor. Rose, March and Arthur will provide support. I'll head into the main building and secure the antidote. Remember, do not destroy the main building or else Ruby will die." He explained.
"If it means that we can kick some more imperial ass than that's fine with me." Neo stated, eager to get in the air. "R5, KT, R3 and R9 will keep us updated if the Empire sends in some more air-support to try and kick our asses." She added.
"I like her enthusiasm." Fenn said impressively. "Alright, let's get this operation underway." The leader of the Protectors said, putting his helmet while his men readied their weapons.
The others did the same thing with their own weapons, even March who double checked the power packs of his heavy blaster rifle. "All packs are primed and ready. This is going to be…" he began before he noticed the warrior from Concord Dawn looking at him. "Something wrong?" he asked.
"It's nothing. You just remind me of my little brother." The warrior answered. "He died a long time ago, along with my parents." They added.
"Same thing happened to me. I lost my parents and sister when my village was attacked. I never found her body, but something tells me that she is still alive, somewhere fighting the good fight against the Grimm." March stated.
"I feel like my brother is alive as well. But I can't be so sure." The warrior replied, walking away from March. "You just stay alive out there." She added before joining the other Nite-Owls.
Hours later, both the Galm and Garuda teams were airborne flying in the direction of the imperial base, their weapons armed and at the ready. The planes were flying five hundred feet off the ground to avoid detection by imperial sensors while their astromech copilots kept an eye out for enemy patrol squadrons. As they neared their target, all four planes soon caught a glimpse of the enemy base.
Leading the formation Cipher tuned his planes radio to the frequency used by his allies. "Galm 1 to Galm 2, Garuda 1 and Garuda 2, target is in site now. Climb to five-thousand feet and commence strafing run. Remember, our target is the enemy vehicles so use your laser cannons. Save your bullets and missiles for when they send up their fighters." Cipher instructed.
"Roger that!" the other three pilots responded as they drew closer and closer to the base before they climbed to five-thousand feet and formed a single line behind each other's craft before Cipher rocked his wings and dived down towards the base. Arming his cannons, he opened up with a barrage of lasers destroying multiple vehicles and fighters on the ground and catching the Imperials off guard.
Pixy followed suit, followed by Rick and Neo. In total, the four pilots destroyed three dozen vehicles and fighters with their attack run. Now aware of their presence, the base commander ordered the launch of the remaining fighters that weren't destroyed in the attack. "Trigger to ground forces, we've got the enemy fighters occupied, its all up to you and the ground forces. Kick some ass for me!" Rick called out.
(Die for You starts)
"Understood, Trigger." Bo replied as her forces shot into the air and rained down blaster fire on the Imperial forces. Caught off guard by the initial aerial attack, the imperial forces were slow to organize a defensive force as rockets from several jetpacks slammed into multiple scout walkers and tanks, destroying them in massive fireballs. "Take out the communications relay! We can't let the enemy call for reinforcements!" she shouted, lobbing a grenade into the hatch of a nearby tank which exploded from the inside while Fenn led a group of Protectors towards the communications relay, firing their EE-3 carbines and other weapons at any Stormtroopers that got in their way.
Following them and laying down suppressing fire from behind was March with his heavy blaster rifle while the female warrior from earlier fired their WESTAR-35 at multiple stormtroopers while slashing at any enemy soldiers that got in her path with a broadsword like Vibroblade. March had no idea why the warrior was staying by his side, but something inside him told him the warrior felt very familiar to him.
More Stormtroopers rushed out of the nearby armory, some carrying the same type of heavy blaster as March had, but before he could even fire the warrior, he was with beat him to the punch, blasting and slashing apart the reinforcements like they were nothing. "Her skills are a lot like hers." He said to himself.
At the communications tower, the Protectors were pinned down by Imperial shock troopers. Several Protectors were downed by blaster fire before the shock troopers were downed by a headshot. "Move it, brothers! We need to prevent the Empire from calling in reinforcements!" Fenn shouted before he looked to where the shots came from and nodded his head.
From her position, Rose shifted her focus onto a pair of walker pilots who were making a run for one of the scout walkers still intact. Her first shot hit one of the pilots in the leg before her second shot nailed the pilot in the head. The other pilot took a shot to the head, killing them in an instant. "I really hate those walkers!" she growled, shifting her attention to another pair of walker pilots who managed to get their walker up and running. "Damn it! We've got a walker powering up and its heading right for the communications tower!"
"I see it!" Arthur called out from behind one of the wrecked tanks with Bo and several of her warriors doing the same thing. "You got anything we can use to take out that walker?" the Human/Faunus hybrid asked the leader of the Nite-Owls.
"I do." Bo answered before she instructed two of her warriors to get in close and attach an explosive or two on the Walkers legs while the rest of her warriors laid down covering fire. "Covering fire!" she shouted as her two warriors rocketed towards the walker while everyone else laid down covering fire for their allies.
The two Nite-Owls were quick to attach the explosives and were about to detonate them when they were gunned down by several incoming Phase Zero Dark Troopers. "Blast it! We need that walker taken out! Penwolf! Tell me you can hit the explosives with your weapon!" Bo shouted in annoyance.
Arthur didn't waste anytime and carefully aimed his sword/blaster and held his breath as he lined up his sights on one of the charges before he fired. A blaster bolt slammed into the explosive charge, causing it to explode followed by the other in a chain reaction that consumed the scout walker in a fireball. "Does that answer your question?" Arthur questioned before he started to lay down covering fire for several other Nite-Owls who were pulling some of their wounded comrades to safety.
An explosion from the comms tower base sent the tower crashing down on one of the idle AT-AT's, destroying it and the troopers trying to power up the massive war machine. The fall caused a massive cloud of dust to be kicked up as Galen cut his way through the imperial forces with his sabers before he reached the main building. Reaching out with the force, he ripped the doors off before entering the main building where the antidote was being kept. "I'm heading inside. Hold the area until I make it out!" he shouted into the commlink.
(End song)
"Roger that!" Everyone called out over the commlink as Galen made his way inside the building.
As expected, the Empire had a large number of troops inside the main building to protect the antidote and commanding officer who was shouting over the intercom for his men to protect him from the intruder. His drive to save Ruby stronger than before, Galen charged through the imperial forces with a rage he hadn't felt in a long time.
Trooper after trooper met a quick end as his blue and green blades cut through the them without any remorse. All of them were trained to risk their lives for the Empire, no matter the opponent they faced. Opposition from heavier more equipped imperial soldiers was low, but somehow Galen knew that they were lying in wait for him when he made his escape.
Speaking of imperials, the commanding officer a cowardly semi-obese man of forty-years was quickly gathering all of the data-pads and other material regarding their business venture, thinking the attack was being carried out by those other than the Empire's enemies. They had just finished filling up a duffle bag when Galen sliced his way into the officer's room, his eyes burning with rage. "What do you want from me!?" the officer asked in fear as Galen moved closer and closer to the officer.
"The antidote for Slabin poisoning! Where is it!?" Galen demanded. The officer only took a glance in another direction before pulling out their pistol and fired a couple of shots at Galen, only to have the shots deflect back at the officer, hitting them in the arm and leg. This allowed Galen to walk over to where the officer was looking at, a safe. Ripping the door of the safe off with the Force, Galen grabbed the cure before he left the officer lying on the ground in agonizing pain. "Starkiller to all friendly forces, I've got the antidote, I'm on my way out!" he reported.
"Starkiller, its Bo. We had to pull back from the base! The Empire managed to call in reinforcements. Your pilot allies are handling the fighters but you've got a ton of ground forces waiting for you outside!" Bo reported.
"Understood." Galen responded and began to make his way out of the main building. As he expected, he found that multiple squads of imperial troopers were indeed waiting for him and armed with heavy weapons. "Let me pass and I'll let you live." Galen demanded. As expected, the imperial soldiers immediately opened fire on him, not wanting to let this Jedi escape with what they were guarding.
(Unbreakable starts)
Blocking blaster fire with his twin blades as he dashed forwards, Galen cut down multiple enemy troopers, again without any remorse or hesitation what so ever. More troopers continued to charge him, only to be sent flying by a blast of the force, sending them flying like rag dolls.
A swing of his sabers followed by a blast of force power sent several Stormtroopers flying in various directions, screaming as they died. Two remaining troopers were cut down before Galen heard something clatter on the ground. Turning around, he looked to see a massive war droid armed with a flamethrower was standing in his way.
Undaunted, Galen charged at the droid and ducked down, sliding underneath its legs as its flamethrower shot a jet of fire at him before he leapt up, sliced the tank with one of his sabers before sending a jolt of lightning into the opening in the tank made by his saber, causing the droid to explode.
"No one will get in my way." Galen said to himself as he exited the building and found himself face to face with dozens of Stormtroopers and Death Watch warriors. "I will not stop; I will not rest. No one will stop me now." He declared and charged towards the enemy forces.
Blaster fire shot towards him but Galen pressed on, slashing his way through all those who got in his way. Several Stormtroopers tried to hit him with the butts of their blaster rifles, but the only thing they succeeded in doing was angering Galen further to the point where he reached out and crushed another war droid like it was a soda can and slammed it into several enemies.
Trooper after trooper and warrior after warrior were cut down by his blades as they tried to get in close for the kill but Galen kept on carving a path to the exit before he reached out, concentrated on the force before violently pushing it out in massive telekinetic explosion, disintegrating everything and everyone close to him while the others were sent flying and died.
For the moment, Galen thought it was over but that changed when a massive droid walker with razor sharp titanium legs made its presence known when it slammed it's legs down on one of the dead Death Watch warriors.
Galen glared at the walker for a moment before the new arrival before the droid used its cutting lasers on Galen, forcing him to block lasers with his bare hands. The lasers proved to be very powerful and Galen was starting to be pushed back little by little, but by using the Tutaminis ability like he did before he was sent to Remnant, he absorbed the energy from the lasers before shooting out lighting from his other hand before he rushed towards the droid.
Igniting his lightsabers, Galen sliced the two front legs of the walker causing it to stumble forwards before he leapt up on its back, stabbing it several times, slicing off its lasers as the droid tried to shake him off before he leapt off after slicing another leg.
The droid then tried to crush Galen with its stub of a leg, only for the young Jedi to catch the leg, lift the droid into the air and began to crush it before he leapt into the air and sliced it right down the middle, destroying it.
(End song)
The Rogue Shadow soon touched down in front of the base as Galen walked past the carnage he had created before he boarded the Rogue Shadow and headed back to Remnant while the Nite-Owls and Protectors returned to Concord Dawn, but not before telling Galen that if he ever needed their assistance, their warriors would be there.
It didn't take them long to return to Remnant and the moment the Rogue Shadow touched down, Galen was quick to ask for a lift to the hospital while the Galm and Garuda teams had their aircraft unloaded from the transport.
"I've got the antidote!" Galen announced the moment he entered the waiting room where the rest of Ruby's team, Team JNPR, Team CVFY and Team SSSN were waiting, all of whom had their heads hanging low. "What's going on?" he demanded.
"Ruby's heart rate increased and she her aura was depleted five minutes before you arrived. They just ordered us to leave her room, but I heard the doctors say that she's not going to make it." Jaune admitted.
"What!? No, no, no, no. Ruby can't die. I have the antidote for her sickness." Galen said, rushing past Jaune and burst into the room just as Ruby's heart rate spiked before it flatlined. "No, no, no. Come on, Ruby. Wake up, you've got to wake up! Wake up!" Galen shouted, but Ruby didn't respond. "RUBY!" Galen shouted, slamming his fist onto Ruby's bed. Suddenly, he felt his aura drop sharply as Ruby's body glowed red as her Aura returned and Ruby's heart rate started to return to normal.
All of the doctors presently in the room were surprised at how Ruby's heart rate returned to normal and she began to breath again. Galen on the other hand, was crying tears of happiness as Ruby's condition began to return to normal and that made him happy.
A couple of days later, Galen was waiting outside the hospital as Ruby exited the building fit as a fiddle. According to the other teams, Galen had activated his semblance which transferred part of his Aura to Ruby's and was able to fight of the poison long enough for the doctors to administer the antidote to Ruby.
"Guess you could call your new ability 'Second Chance.'" Ruby said with a smile, before she hugged Galen.
"I'm just glad your still alive." Galen admitted.
Both he and Ruby were unaware that a certain mini-dress wearing girl wasn't pleased that Ruby hadn't kicked the bucket, but it didn't matter as the plan that Maul had came up with was now ready to enter the final stage.
And I am done. Now I am pretty sure that Aura isn't affected by poison and such, so let's just assume for the sake of the story, that poison can slowly drain a person's aura. Then again, a poison from the Star Wars universe could be more dangerous.
Anyways, not sure if any of you have been keeping up with the snowstorm in Texas, but its really bugging me that so many people are without heat, power, water and have died from the weather, and that's not saying anything about the delay for the next episode of Volume 8.
Speaking of which, I think I am starting to like the path that Whitley is going down since he had helped Weiss when Nora needed help the most, wonder what that means for Emerald and Hazel, assuming that Hazel survives his fight with Salem.
Speaking of the Grimm queen, is anyone else confused about why that Hound Grimm she made had a Faunus man with silver eyes inside its body? Does this mean that the Silver Eyed warriors are being used by Salem to create new types of Grimm? Does that mean Summer was turned into a monster? For everyone's sake, I hope it's not the case, I don't want to see Ruby having to eventually fight her mother.
Now in regards to the newly formed Garuda Team, I have recently played Ace Combat 6: Skies of Liberation and thought that Rick and Neo would make a pretty good two-person fighter team.
For Galen's semblance, I have Darth Cody to thank for it. His semblance is called 'Second Chance' like the perk in Call of Duty and song by Shinedown. Basically, Galen throws his hand out and transfers part of his aura to whoever he chooses, replenishing his strength while the downside is that Galen's aura drops sharply.
I hope I did a good job with the inclusion of the Protectors and Nite-Owls. Now in regards to the mystery woman who said March reminded her of his brother, that's a secret.
Now, only a few chapters before its time for volume three and I need an idea for the names of the opponents that Team GARM fights in the two-on-two battles. I already have an idea for the team battle and it let's just say, it's a surprise. I'll give more details on that later.
Now, there is still another twenty-four hours before my poll about the plane Galen will pilot in the upcoming aerial battle against a relic from the Clone Wars. Until then, please place your vote, read and review and I'll see you all next time.
