And I am back with another chapter of Remnant Unleashed. Before I begin, I'm going to say this one more time; Ruby Rose will not fall to the dark side of the force. She is too pure of heart to allow the temptation of power and such to control her actions. Besides, I can't really see her as a Sith Lord.
Now then, only a few weeks until the Bad Batch airs on Disney Plus and I can't wait for that series. I hope it answers a lot of unanswered questions about other characters and how most or all of the galaxy reacted with the Empire's rise to power. I just hope it doesn't mean the Bad Batch executed Order 66 and killed a Jedi.
Anyway, its time for some reviews.
Jack Smith1: My Battle of Beacon is going to be a whole lot different from the canon event, but some of what actually happened will still occur. If your Battle of Beacon is going to be like Stalingrad, I have a quote from Medal of Honor: European Assault you might like, if you are interested.
Monster King: Thanks man.
Darth Cody: Arthur's semblance basically allows him to generate white and blue fire from his body that can either cover his blades or take the form of various melee weapons, like battle axes. And thank you.
Luffy L Deathwalker: Trust me, your character will appear in Volume 4, when a certain cheating and money-grubbing bastard throws his 'charity event'.
Spartan-626: I have something else in mind for the match between Yang and Mercury. But you'll have to wait and see this chapter.
Chaotic Skunk Demon: Good to hear from you again. I think I've heard of Log Horizon; I might check it out. Its still going to be a while before Ruby gets her new lightsaber, so please be patient.
And finally, the guest reviewer: No way in hell am I going to have Ruby turn to the dark side of the force.
Alright, reviews done, lets get started. Disclaimers are the same as always, please enjoy.
Chapter 37: GVM
The following day after the doubles matches, both the city and the fair grounds were packed with more people than the following days. Students and visitors from the other kingdoms and academies packed both areas then any of the previous festivals.
Such a sight was something Galen had never experienced in his life and despite it being his first time, he aimed his rifle down range at a target of the shooting gallery like he had fired a blaster before. "Target sighted." Galen said to himself and pulled the trigger. A cork traveled from the barrel of his rifle and slammed into the bullseye, scoring him five hundred points.
"Way to go!" Ruby cheered as Galen collected his prize from the gallery, a teddy bear which he gave to Ruby who loved the gift her boyfriend gave her, but not as much as the weapon upgrade he won for her at the ring toss game from earlier. "I wish this day wouldn't end." She wished.
"Well, lets just try to make the most of it. Depending on the outcome of the one-on-one matches, we still have something far worse than the Grimm and droids to deal with." Galen reminded his girlfriend.
"The Empire." Ruby answered with disgust, remembering what they did to those villagers on Dathomir. "You really think the rebellion has a chance against them? I mean, I don't doubt their courage or anything, but you said it yourself. The Imperial army numbers in the hundred of thousands and there's like only a handful of people with the resolve enough to actually fight them."
"Rebellions are built on hope. Even if the Empire outnumbers them a thousand-to-one, the hope for freedom will always burn inside the hearts of those who believe in it. Even if one person dies, that fire will continue to burn bright." Galen replied.
"You make it sound like you plan on joining them. I thought you had a purpose on Remnant?" Ruby questioned with a raised eyebrow and pouty look.
"I'll only join them when the time is right or when they need some help. My duties here take priority." Galen answered just as the rest of their teams arrived.
"Hey, Ruby! Galen!" Yang called out, waving to the two of them. "We found an old time photobooth. Come on! Let's dress up in some old-style clothing and get our pictures taken!" she shouted before quickly grabbing her sisters' arm and dragged her to the photobooth.
Galen followed them as well, but stopped short when he spotted Rex in full armor walking past. "Rex? What are you doing here? I thought you were on standby at the base?" he asked.
"General Plo decided it best to send a couple of platoons of troopers to the school in light of our loss of contact with Hunter and the other commando's." Rex explained. Galen was quick to ask if they had an idea of where the commando teams were, but Rex shook his head. "We haven't heard anything from them since they disappeared from the droid base. We briefly located their signals from the night before, but we lost contact with them again when they neared the Vale border. Those troopers can take care of themselves no problem, but that doesn't mean I am concerned about my brothers." Rex admitted.
"Let's just hope they find something to at least convince Ironwood that the enemy is planning something and didn't give up when they saw his forces." Galen agreed before he heard Ruby calling his name and left Rex to go back to his patrol. When Galen caught up with the others, they were waiting outside the photobooth before they stepped inside and were directed to the changing rooms.
Several minutes later, the students stepped out of the changing room in costumes reminiscent of the Prohibition Era of Vale forty years ago. Yang wore a pair of silver shoes, pinstripe pants, a dark vest over an untucked white shirt, purple tie that matched her eyes, a pair of leather gloves and matching fedora with a tommy gun in her hands, looking like a gangster.
Blake wore a strapless black sequin dress with black stockings, shoes, white feather boa and long elegant black gloves, appearing as a cabaret singer from one of those old-time night clubs.
Weiss and Ruby each wore a flapper dress that ended mid-thigh, heels, ballroom gloves, feather boas like the one Blake had, head bands and pearl necklaces of their respective colors and both of them held a pocket revolver.
Rose came out dressed as a bounty hunter wearing her signature hat, dirty blue shirt, light brown jacket, brown pants tucked into her black boots and a black handkerchief and holding a pump-action shotgun.
March's attire was that of a soldier with a bolt-action rifle in his hands while Arthur dressed in an outfit similar to the ancient knights of the kingdoms long before the academies came into existence. The mere sight of Arthur in knight attire made Weiss blush.
As for Galen, he came out wearing a costume that was a lot like what his father wore before he was killed. From what he gathered, the attire was that of ancient warriors who possessed skills unlike anything ever seen before on Remnant, which Galen identified as the Force. He didn't have a prop weapon, but when he saw Ruby in her costume, he couldn't help but smile and compliment her beauty, this time making Ruby blush.
The eight students took their places behind the selected background of Vale and took a pose as their picture was taken. Each of the students received a single copy of the picture before they continued to enjoy the time they had left before the one-on-one matches began.
The rest of the day went on without any incident, but as twilight fell Ozpin sat in his office with his back turned to the elevators, looking out the window at Ironwoods fleet. Just then the elevator doors opened and Qrow stepped in, approaching Ozpin's desk with a coffee mug in hand. "You know, he's making you look like a fool." The pale red eyed man stated, referring to Ironwood.
"His heart is in the right place. He's just… misguided." Ozpin answered.
"Sometime, I'm not even sure he has a heart." Qrow responded, taking a drink from his cup and shifting his weight. "So, have you chosen your guardian yet?" he asked.
Ozpin swirled his chair around to face Qrow before he spoke. "Maidens choose themselves. I simply believe I've found the right candidate. Ever since the day I met her, I had the feeling she would be the one. She's strong, intelligent, caring… but most importantly, she's ready."
"What about her brother?" Qrow asked, getting Ozpin to look at him with a concerned look. "You and I both know that ever since that day, Trigger dropped his plans on joining Beacon and searched for his sister for months. You can't keep this a secret from him, Oz. He has a right to know, about the Maidens and her." he added.
"I'm well aware of that, Qrow. But the fact remains that I haven't had the chance to talk to him about it yet. Even if I did have the time, I can't call him away from his duties as a pilot. But I can assure you, Qrow, I will tell him the truth." Ozpin answered as Pyrrha walked into his office with an ambiguous smile.
Minutes past by as Ozpin and Pyrrha were discussing the one-on-one fights as the last rays of twilight shined through the clock decorated windows. "Well, it comes as no surprise that they've chosen you to move onto the final round of the tournament. Your performance was exemplary." Ozpin said with a chuckle as his cane rested by his side.
"Thank you, Professor Ozpin, but I would never have made it this far without my teammates." Pyrrha replied humbly.
"Personally, I think it's the other way around." Qrow said from his spot behind the girl, leaning against a column in the back of the room, his arms crossed. Pyrrha was quick to try and be formal with Qrow who Ozpin was quick to explain that the man is a trusted colleague of his, but Pyrrha was still curious about why Ozpin called her to his office.
Ozpin was quick to ask Pyrrha what her favorite fairy tale was from her childhood and Pyrrha mentioned a few of them before Ozpin asked if she knew about The Story of the Seasons. "Well, of course!" Pyrrha began before she started to remember the story about an old man who refused to leave his home when he was visited by four traveling sisters. The first of the sisters understood the man's reclusive nature and urged him to use his time in solitude to reflect and meditate while the second sister brought him fruits and flowers, also tending to his crops and revitalizing the man's garden. The third sister warmed the mands heart, convincing him to step outside and embrace the world around him as the fourth and final sister begs the man to look at all that he has and be thankful. In return for the girl's kindness, the man granted the maidens with incredible powers, so that they may continue to help others across the planet. The sisters accepted and promised to share their gifts with the people of Remnant 'til the end of time. "Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall; the four maidens. My mother loves that story." Pyrrha replied with a smile.
"Would you believe me if I told you that one's been around since I was a boy?" Ozpin asked, causing Pyrrha to laugh and state that Ozpin wasn't that old. "Well, would you believe me if I told you, it was true?" Ozpin said, turning his tone from playful to a deadly serious one, much to Pyrrha's confusion. "What if I were to tell you that there were four maidens existing in this world, that could wield tremendous power, equal to the force and without Dust?" he asked.
"You mean… like a semblance?" Pyrrha asked, trying to make sense of the development, but she became more confused when Ozpin said he was referring to magic which Qrow hinted to the fact that he thought it was crazy the first time he was told it. At first, Pyrrha thought Ozpin was joking, but she soon got a look at Ozpin's face, indicating that he wasn't joking. "Why… why are you telling me this?" Pyrrha asked, struggling for the right words.
"We are telling you this, Pyrrha Nikos, because we believe that you are next in line to receive the Fall Maiden's powers." Ozpin answered as Pyrrha eyes grew wider and wider before the elevator doors opened up and stepping out was Glynda, Ironwood and Plo Koon. "Wait, what is this? Who are you?" Pyrrha asked overwhelmed by this development.
"You know who we are. We're still the same teachers and Headmasters you met when you arrived at Beacon." Glynda said, trying to sound reassuring before Qrow mentioned something of a 'little part-time job' while Ironwood mentioned we are the protectors of the world and Ozpin said something about needing her help.
The group of 'protectors', along with Pyrrha and Plo soon boarded the elevator which beeped steadily as each floor passed. "Where are we going?" the red-haired girl asked.
"The vault. Under the school." Ozpin answered as the elevator continued downward through the vertical tunnel of dark green lights until the elevator door opened up and the passengers stepped out with Pyrrha being the last one and absorbed the sight of the large, sparsely-lit hallway she was being lead through.
"I'm sure you must have questions." Glynda spoke to the girl, waiting for her.
"Maybe one, or two…" Pyrrha began, still taking the whole sight in as the group continued on. "I still don't understand. You said I was next in line to receive the Maiden's power. What do you mean by that?" she asked.
"The Maidens have existed for thousands of years. But much like in nature, the seasons change. No two summers are alike. When a Maiden dies, her power leaves her body and seeks out a new host, ensuring that the seasons are never lost and that no individual can hold onto that power forever." Glynda explained.
"So, how does the power choose?" Pyrrha asked.
"Through a series of stupid and convoluted rules." Qrow answered, much to Glynda's annoyance which Qrow responded that she knew he was right.
"At first, the only thing that was certain was that the powers were specifically passed on to young women. But as time went on, it was discovered that the selection process was much more… intimate." Glynda explained, more carefully, but Pyrrha was a bit concerned when she mentioned the word intimate. "As we understand it now, when a Maiden dies, the one who is in her final thoughts is the first candidate to inherit her power." She added.
"Unless it's a dude or some old hag. Then the power goes to someone random, and our job get's a lot harder." Qrow inputted, but again, Pyrrha was still wondering why they were telling her all of this now, and not when she graduated. "Honestly, we've run out of time. I don't know if you've noticed, but things are getting a lot scarier out in the world. Tensions are high. Grimm are growing stronger, more prevalent. Remains of the droid army are being used by someone and we now have a galactic empire to deal with. And it's not going to be much longer before the peace we've been enjoying so much goes out the window." He added.
"You're not… talking about a war?" Pyrrha asked.
"Not a war between nations." Ironwood answered.
"We can fill you in on the details once we know that you're with us. For now, all you need to know is that one of the Maidens has been attacked. And for the first time in history, part of her power was stolen." Qrow explained just as Pyrrha heard the sound of humming electricity as the group came to their destination at the end of the hallway: A large machine with lit screens was hooked up to two rectangular pods, one of which was upright and inside the pod was a young girl dressed in minimal clothing with a burn scar over her left eye and across her face.
"Is that…" Pyrrha began, stepping forward hesitantly.
"The current Fall Maiden, Amber, Rick's sister." Ozpin answered with a heavy sigh.
"She's… still alive" Pyrrha gasped.
"For now. We're using state of the art Atlas technology to keep her stable. But there is a lot about the situation that is… unprecedented." Ironwood clarified.
"What do you mean?" Pyrrha asked.
"Well, we don't know what will happen if- when she passes." Ironwood answered with a sigh and his eyes closed. Pyrrha immediately asked if Amber's power would transfer to the next host, to which Qrow exclaimed sarcastically that Pyrrha was smart and had been listening the entire time before Ironwood continued. "Under normal circumstances, yes. But this is a delicate situation. It's not uncommon for the last thoughts of the slain to be of their attacker. And to make matters worse, no one's ever seen the power split like this before. For all we know, it will seek out its other half."
"Her assailant." Pyrrha said, connecting the pieces together.
"And that would not bode well for any of us." Ozpin added as Pyrrha lowered her head in thought, walked towards the pod and placed a hand on the glass of Ambers pod.
"Whoever did this to young Amber is nothing short of evil. I have encountered many people who have done things like this during and before the Clone War, Miss Nikos and I can say that this is something that could have been avoided." Plo voiced in sadness, also placing his hand on the glass.
"If all of this is true, why keep it secret!? If this girl is so important… if we're truly on the brink of war, why not tell everyone?" she asked angrily, turning towards the teachers and gesturing wildly."
"From what we understand, it used to be common knowledge." Glynda explained, stepping forwards much to Pyrrha's surprise.
"How do you think legends and fairy tales get started? Even the craziest ones come from somewhere." Qrow elaborated, pulling out his flask and taking a swig.
"Our group was founded in order to protect both mankind and the Maidens. Those hungry for power hunted them with the hope of inheriting their strength." Goodwitch added.
"And as you can imagine, the one's that succeeded weren't exactly the kind of people you'd want to have unimaginable power. Especially considering the newest enemy we have to contend with." Qrow chimed in, finishing his drink.
"And so, this brotherhood chose to remove the Maidens from the public eye, allowing their existence to fade away into legend. Much like the legend of the Jedi." Ironwood explained.
"Legend of the Jedi?" Pyrrha asked.
"The Jedi have been to Remnant long before the present day. During the days of the old republic, around the time of the Mandalorian Wars and Jedi Civil War, both the Jedi and the Sith waged battles on this planet, believing it to be vital location for their forces in both conflicts. However, many Jedi saw the threat Grimm posed to the Human's and Faunus. As such, many of them stayed behind and protected the people from the Grimm, some of whom found a new purpose in life and brought the Force to Remnant, until they were wiped out by the Sith who returned years later and hunted them down. All knowledge of Remnant was lost to the Jedi as time passed by." Plo explained.
"The things we're telling you go against hundreds of years of human history, religion." Goodwitch began.
"No one would want to believe us. It would cause an uproar." Ironwood added.
"It would cause panic. And we all know what that would bring clawing to our Kingdom's walls." Ozpin added, turning his gaze away from the others. "Which is why we would like to…" he began before Pyrrha cut him off, believing that the reason she was being told all of this was that they wanted her to become the next Fall Maiden, but Ozpin answered that it wasn't that simple. Due to Ambers condition, Pyrrha wouldn't be able to inherit the powers naturally, which was where Ironwood and his 'solution' came in.
"For the past few years, Atlas has been studying Aura from a more scientific standpoint; how it works, what it's made of, how it can be used. We've made… significant strides. And we believe we've found a way to capture it." Ironwood began, to which Qrow muttered a simpler explanation for those who didn't understand what Ironwood was saying.
Pyrrha and Plo were disgusted, as was Goodwitch, but as the combat instructor later said that desperate times called for desperate measures. Ironwood did agree with Glynda, but mentioned that instead of Amber's power, her Aura would be intertwined with Pyrrha's life.
Pyrrha understood of the dangers she would face as Qrow asked what Pyrrha would do. "You have an important decision before you, Miss Nikos. There's no guarantee this transfer will work. And there's no telling if you will be the same person if it does. I advise you to take time on this matter. But understand that before the Vytal Festival is over, we will need your answer." He stated. Pyrrha took one last look at Amber, placing her hand on the glass separating them both, a scared expression reflected on the face of the dying girl before she turned away, but not before Ozpin gave her one final warning. "The assailant that attacked the Fall Maiden has made their first move. And there's no telling when their next move will be."
Plo on the other hand having listened to everything had a different approach and quickly spoke up before Pyrrha reached the elevator. "Pyrrha, even if you don't except this responsibility, there is still another option to prevent Amber's power from transferring to her assailant." The Kel Dor Jedi said, getting the attention of the others. "While Ironwoods methods are indeed immoral and keeping Amber alive, nothing can be done to treat her wounds at the present time, but the Rebellion would not only be able to heal her, but also protect her from the one who attacked her."
"That actually does sound better than forcing all this onto her." Qrow said in agreement.
"Are you saying we hand Amber and her power over to the Rebellion? That is out of the question. Amber's assailant will find her no matter where she is hidden. This is Remnant's problem and not the Rebellions." Ironwood protested.
"Not entirely." Plo responded. "Amber's assailant does not know about the Rebellion or its many bases across the galaxy. Even if they did, they won't be able to stop the treatments Amber will receive. Yes, the power must not fall into the wrong hands, but I will not allow you all to separate a brother from his sister. Trigger needs to know about his sister and if you transfer the power to Pyrrha, it will only make her a target. A safe place off the planet is the most practical course of action." He added.
"Whatever we choose, we need to be cautious about the course of action we choose. It is more than just the Grimm we have to contend with." Ozpin voiced in agreement, much to Ironwood's dismay.
Meanwhile, miles away from Beacon. The Galm and Garuda Teams and Mobius 1 were preparing for take-off. Again, Hamilton had disregarded both teams request to stay for the one-on-one matches and were given and were being sent on a combat air-patrol mission over the mountains in Vale where multiple planes and their pilots had disappeared. With them was Second Lieutenant Patrick James Beckett, callsign Crow 3 of the Crow Team. Like Cipher and Pixy, we to was once a mercenary but lacked the same level of combat experience as the Galm Team. But he made up for it in his skills and determination.
The rest of Crow Team was shot down and killed weeks ago, leaving PJ as he liked to be called as the only survivor of the team. Much to his surprise, he was transferred to the base and assigned as Dante's wingman with his new F15 which was in the process of being modified for combat against the Empire. The modifications that were completed were the hybrid cannons before he was given orders by Hamilton to search for Captain Bartlett and Team SDOW who had gone missing in the same sector of the mountains.
All six pilots were soon granted clearance for take off before they were cleared of altitude restrictions and headed off towards the mountains. None of them knew of the trap that was laying in wait for them.
Back in the Colosseum, a smirking Cinder Fall sat amongst the cheering crowd as Port's voice roared over the broadcasting system. "Now, for the moment you've all been waiting for! The one-on-one finals!" he announced as standing in the center stage was Yang, Sun, Penny, Mercury, Galen and a troubled Pyrrha. "Barty, why don't you explain the rules?"
"Ah, it's quite simple, Peter. Instead of a bracket system, each round of the finals will be randomly determined immediately before the match takes place!" Oobleck stated from the announcer's box.
"Much like any good hunt, there will be zero time to prepare!" Port added as the randomization process began. The roulette started spinning, this time for the competitors instead of the biomes which was watched by the entire population or Remnant, including its unwanted visitors. The roulette slowed down as the first match was decided.
"Galen Marek and Mercury Black!" Port announced.
"Break a leg, Galen!" Ruby shouted with encouragement through cupped hands from her spot along side the rest of Team RWBY, Team JNPR, Team SSSN and Team GARM before Port asked for all the other combatants to leave the stage. They did so and Mercury walked towards Galen with a grin on his face.
"Looks like we get to finish our fight from combat class." Mercury said smugly.
"Just try not to forfeit the match this time. I want to at least have the pleasure of kicking your ass out of the tournament fair and square." Galen remarked reaching for his lightsabers. Both fighters looked back to the cheering crowd as a ring of spotlights rose up from the middle of the ring.
"Oh, I think you'll be in for quite a surprise." Mercury said confidently, reaching into his jacket as the countdown ended and the fight began. Much to Galen and Ruby's surprise, Mercury pulled out a familiar looking object and ignited its crimson blade. "Besides, I plan on making it interesting, Jedi." he added as he took a fighting stance similar to that of Form III.
(Ignited starts)
"Where did you get that!?" Galen demanded.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Mercury asked sarcastically, using his boots to propel himself towards Galen who was still fazed by the fact that his opponent had a lightsaber that he didn't have the chance to block the attack and rolled to the side, pulling his primary weapon from his belt and ignited it. This time, the blue blade was raised to block the crimson blade. "You think you're the only one who knows how to use a sword of some type? Well, my old man taught me how to use a sword when he wasn't beating the crap out of me, so I know a thing or two." He stated.
Galen was quick to push Mercury back with a strong force push before raising his saber to block a shot from Mercury's boot. One shot was deflected, but more shots were sent towards Galen's way forcing him to block the shots before his opponent got in close to Galen, ducked down to avoid a swipe of Galen's blade and landed a roundhouse kick to Galen's face.
"That was a cheap shot!" Ruby shouted from the stands.
"Looks like you got an admirer in the stands." Mercury noted.
"She's actually my girlfriend." Galen corrected, dodging a second roundhouse kick from his opponent.
"Girlfriend? Well, maybe when I beat your ass, she'll dump you and hang out with a really winner." Mercury teased, hoping to get under Galen's skin and play the part that Yang was suppose to play. Much to his surprise, Galen didn't let it bother him and was quick to counter with a saber-swing that knocked Mercury back towards the edge of the ring, which would have resulted in Mercury losing by ring-out only to use his boots to propel himself back into the ring.
Sheathing his weapon, Galen took a fighting stance and gestured for Mercury to come at him. Believing it would be an easy win, Mercury took the bait and fired a blast from his boots, propelling him upwards before he dive-bombed Galen only to be caught in mid-air and slammed into the ground, reducing his aura down and revealing him of his weapon. "Now this is getting interesting." Mercury said with interest, launching himself with another blast from his boots and attempted to land a drop kick on Galen.
Galen was quick to raise his hands up and caught the kick, sending Mercury back who landed on his feet before unleashing a barrage of blasts from his boots, forcing Galen to dodge each of these blasts before he dashed in with a front kick to Mercury's back.
"Damn you!" Mercury cursed and counted with series of punches and kicks that Galen blocked with ease, save for a few hits that managed to get through and hit Galen hard in the chest and sides. "You mainly use those fancy swords of yours, you got very little combat experience when it comes to hand-to-hand. Tell you what, I'll let you walk away with your dignity if you forfeit the match."
"Not a chance!" Galen retorted, pushing Mercury back with a blast of the force that made Mercury skid across the ground. This however allowed Mercury to reacquire his lightsaber which he promptly ignited, forcing Galen to ignite both his blades before dashing towards Mercury and clashed his blades with Mercury's own blade with neither one of them budging an inch. "If you think I'll just throw in the towel and surrender, you're wrong!" Galen shouted, ducking a roundhouse kick from his opponent.
Both opponents continued to exchange attacks with each-other with Galen landing hard side kick to Mercury's ribs, damaging his Aura even further. Undaunted, Mercury spun around and unleashed a barrage of blasts at his foe, forcing Galen onto the defensive once again before Mercury leaped over and blasted Galen in the back, knocking his aura down close to the red. "Well then, looks you're about to lose this match. Shame though, I was really beginning to have fun with this match. But all good things have to come to an end!" Mercury gloated and prepared to bring his blade down on Galen.
To his surprise, Galen still dazed and weakened sheathed his blades and used his hands to block the blade, absorbing the energy before Galen narrowed his eyes and landed a punch in Mercury's gut before he reactivated his lightsabers and this time, forced Mercury onto the defensive who tried his best to block each attack as his aura drained rapidly. One final strike was able to knock Mercury's weapon from his hands, which was then followed by a series of rapid and fast punches that knocked Mercury's aura down into the red.
(End song)
The buzzer sounded as the crowd roared with cheers. "What a way to kick off the finals!" Port exclaimed.
"Galen Marek wins!" Oobleck added as the stage enclosed by the stadium floor once again.
The teams in the stands cheered with excitement along with the spectators as Galen sheathed his lightsabers and picked up Mercury's weapon. "You put up a good fight but you still have a lot to learn when it comes to using a lightsaber. Next match might have a different outcome." Galen addressed a hunched-over Mercury before walking away.
"There's not going to be a next time, Jedi!" Mercury angrily said with murder in his voice. Galen was quick to turn around as he saw Mercury leap forward with a kick. Galen smirked and leapt over his attacker, knowing that it was an illusion when he saw a surprised Mercury looking back at him, shocked and confused.
"Nice try, but I'm not going to fall for that." Galen remarked and walked away out of the arena. Neither he nor anyone else knew that many of the spectators where calling Galen's leap showboating and were arguing with other spectators, creating negative emotions that the Grimm sensed and started their march towards Vale.
At one of the many permitter posts surrounding Vale, Commander Cody, Waxer, Boil and Commander Stagger spotted the incoming Grimm and were quick to contact Plo Koon. "General Plo, we've got a situation here." he said urgently into the commlink.
And chapter is complete. Now, I am sure many of you are wondering why Mercury had a lightsaber and where he got it from, but I won't be spoiling anything about that, yet. I am also sure you are going to be wondering what the Galm and Garuda Teams along with Mobius 1 and Crow 3 are going to be running into, but that will have to wait.
Also, Plo has offered another solution in regards to Amber and Pyrrha. A little hint as to what will happen to a certain Invincible girl later on in the story.
Anyway, tell me what you all think and we have only twelve days left before the Bad Batch series airs on Disney Plus. Please read and review and I'll see you all next time.
