Sly Cooper and the Gang in: School Shoot-Out

October 18th, 2021

After everyone finished their morning routine, Carmelita left for her flight to Florida, Bentley and Sly dropped off Murray and the twins at school, and headed off for their mission. The three put on their face masks as they went to the main entrance, which was guarded by ape mercenaries. The hippo had to check in at the main desk before going to Mrs. Marsh's classroom.

First Period: Reading

"Alright class," said Mrs. Marsh. "We have a new volunteer with us today. Mister…Murray?"

"Yes, ma'am. The 'Murray' is here to watch over Sly's kids."

The twins just groaned and rolled their eyes.

"I see," said the gray cat woman. She had short, blue hair and wore a dress. "How are you two doing since you've been gone?"

"Okay, I guess." Sylvia said.

"But one more week of no school would've been better." Carmen jested.

Mrs. Marsh chuckled. "Well, I'm glad you're doing better. You two must've had quite a scare dealing with that child killer."

"It was easy," said Sylvia, triumphantly. "He turned into that Vlekton guy and I made him eat cheese, which killed him."

"It was just an illusion, Syl." Carmen said.

"The important thing is, you were brave when you had to be." Murray said.

"Anyway," said Mrs. Marsh. "Why don't you tell us about yourself, Mr. Murray?"

"Well," Murray had to remember not to mention his criminal past. "I used to be in racing, then demolition derby, then wrestling. Now I'm a bounty hunter."

"Oooh," the class said in admiration.

"Yeah, sumo wrestling!" Jimmy said. The boy was a hyena with short brown hair.

The kids laughed, except the Cooper twins and a little fox girl with blonde hair wearing overalls and a green shirt. Murray tried to play it cool since the boy who mocked him was a little kid.

"Hey," the little fox girl said. "He's the best wrestler in the whole world!"

"Did he win the belt?" Jimmy asked.

"Yes, he did!"

"For what pants?" Jimmy began laughing as the class joined in.

"James McDee," Mrs. Marsh shouted. "You're on thin ice, mister!"

"Sorry, Mrs. Marsh." Jimmy said.

"Now, since Jimmy feels like opening his mouth, perhaps he would like to begin our reading for today." Mrs. Marsh said.

The children began reading Cinderella. Murray leaned closer to the fox girl. "Psst. What's your name?"

"Beverly," she whispered back.

"Would you like an autograph?" Murray asked in a whisper, which was given a nod in reply.

Second Period: Writing

"Alright class," said Mrs. Marsh. "Now we're going to write a one paragraph essay on what you like."

The children started thinking and writing. Murray was just doodling a triple chocolate sundae with doughnuts on top. After a few minutes, the children finished their essays.

Story paused

You know, I could go for that kind of sundae right now.

Story continues

"Beverly," said Mrs. Marsh. "Would you like to go first?"

The fox girl nodded and began reading

"I like Murray because he's super strong and super brave. I like that he is good at racing and wrecking cars and wrestling. Now he's a bounty hunter who beats up bad guys. I like that he came to class today so I can see my hero, Murray."

"Aww." Murray said, putting a hand to his heart, smiling.

"Very good, Beverly," said Mrs. Marsh. "But you said 'and' twice in a sentence. We'll go over that later."

"Ha ha," Jimmy snickered.

"Mr. McDee," Mrs. Marsh said sternly. "Perhaps you'd like to read your essay next?"

"Okay Mrs. Marsh." Jimmy brought the paper up to eye level. "I like how Murray doesn't wear any pants. I like how his big butt gets stuck in his seat and his tummy gets caught in the door. I like -"

"James McDee!" Mrs. Marsh shouted as the kids laughed. "Go to the Dean's office right now!"

As Jimmy walked out the class with shame, Murray blew raspberries at him, only to get a stern look from the teacher. "Mr. Murray. Here, the adults lead by example. I understand the Cooper twins' unique situation, but if you wish to stay on campus, you will behave. Do I make myself clear?"

Murray hung his head low. "Yes, ma'am."

I know he's just a kid and all, but I'm really sensitive about the "pants" thing. Anyway, I didn't see him until computer class where he made a 3-D image of me bouncing on my butt. Not to mention, he teases me during P.E. about how me climbing the rope would break the ceiling. Little brat!

Lunch

Murray was sitting with the twins and Beverly. The fox-coons each had a tuna sandwich, banana, apple juice box, and a ding-dong. The fox girl had a peanut butter and apple jelly sandwich with a yoo-hoo, fuji apple, and three snickerdoodle cookies. Murray brought a meatball sub and a pint can of Cola.

Jimmy dragged a trash can over to their table. "Hey Murray," said Jimmy. "Here's your lunch!" This got the kids in the cafeteria to laugh at Murray, whose face was turning red. The Dean, who was an owl, placed his hand on Jimmy's shoulder. "Young man, we do not tolerate this kind of misconduct. Now go to my office."

"But Dean Delacroix -"

"Office. Now!"

"Ooooohhhh," said the kids. As Jimmy went back to the Dean's office, Murray stuck his tongue out, silently this time. He went back to eating his sub as the girls at his table ate their lunches.

Meanwhile

An albino gorilla is standing outside the school campus, watching the Ape mercenaries patrol the school. He carried a shock gatling gun, wore leather clothes and sunglasses. "I am in position," he said with an Austrian accent.

"You've been given the description of the two targets. I want 'em alive. However, you are not to use any lethal means to handle the civilians. Don't kill anyone, Hanz. Understand?" The modulated voice said in the gorilla's earpiece.

"Understood, boss." Hanz replied. "Besides, I've worked with some of these mercenaries. It would feel like killing my own brothers."

Hanz began marching towards the main entrance of the school campus. As a few mercenaries charged him, he began knocking him out with his shock gatling gun. He proceeded to enter the main building to shoot the faculty and students in the area. He walked over to the phone at the desk, turning on the school speakers. "Attention all civilians," he said.

With Murray and the twins

"I am looking for two children. Twins. Fox-raccoon hybrid. Last name Cooper ." His voice said over the school speakers. Murray was in shock as there was already a new threat to the girls. He held the twins and fox girl close. "Surrender them to me, and no one else has to get hurt."

Story paused

Seriously?! Why now? So soon? Any why them ?

Story continues

"Don't worry, girls. The 'Murray' will protect you." He said, flexing.

"Are you going to beat him up?" Beverly asked.

"First, I need to take you three to safety. Then I'll CRUSH HIS SKULL!"

With Hanz

The shooter began searching for the twins, stunning civilians and mercenaries alike. After a few minutes, he went through half the school. A couple of the remaining ape mercenaries cut him off. "Hanz, you traitor," Henrich shouted.

"It's good to see you again, Heinrich and Werner."

"You left us for this?" Werner asked. "Who sent you?"

"I'm not sure," said Hanx. "There's a middle man."

"We're going to bury you under the prison," shouted Heinrich.

Hanz responded by simply shooting the two mercenaries. "Well, this was a shocking reunion." He continued marching around the school, searching for his targets.

Back with Murray and the girls.

The four of them were trying to fight the traffic of civilians running away from the armed assailant. "Don't worry, girls." Murray said. "We'll make our way to the sewers, where it's safe. He won't find us there." As they turned a corner, they were face to face with Hanz.

"An excellent idea," Hanz replied with sarcasm. "However, I see one flaw in your plan."

"Murray!" Beverly shouted in fear.

"Hand over the girls," Hanz demanded.

"Go," said Murray. "I'll take care of him."

The three girls ran in the opposite direction from them. The bounty hunter and hired gun stood across from each other, waiting for the other to make a move. Murray curled his fingers, forming fists. Hanz tightening his grip on the handle of his weapon. After a long minute, Murray flexed and shouted "boo!" Hanz began shooting at him, but he jumped towards the gunman, pouncing on him. The two seemed to be evenly matched, rolling and punching each other, until Murray grabbed Hanz and threw him into the wall before finishing him off with an uppercut.

And THAT'S how it's done! Okay, after I showed that chump how it's done, the few mercenaries not knocked out from his shots were able to bag him and tag him. We all gave our statements, of course. Unfortunately, they decided to close the school and go back to doing it online until further notice.

Thirty minutes later

Murray's Samsung Galaxy went off, playing the theme to Whoopie World. He grabbed it and saw a picture of Carmelita with her shock pistol as her Caller ID. "Hello," he answered.

"Murray, I've got the middle man!"

"Awesome," Murray shouted in celebration. "By the way, he sent us a shooter."

"I heard. Is everyone okay?"

"Yeah. The guy only used a shock gun that acts as a gatling gun."

Carmelita sighed in relief over the phone. "I'll be there as soon as I've brought him in for questioning."

"Give him a punch for me, will ya?" Murray smirked.

"Roger that." She replied before ending the call.

Jimmy walked up to Murray with a sad look on his face. "Hey."

"Hey," said Murray, plainly.

"I'm sorry for making fun of you. Beverly was right, you are super cool."

"Uh…thanks."

More kids began to walk up to him, staring in admiration. "You save us," shouted a young lioness. "Yeah, you're like a superhero," shouted a young rhino boy. Members of the faculty walked over to join the crowd, and Mrs. Marsh smiled in respect.

"Aww shucks," Murray said, blushing.

"I have to admit," said Mrs. Marsh. "Carmelita and her husband made the right call by sending you."

"Yeah, thanks, Murray!" Beverly shouted. Before too long, all the kids began chanting his name, which drew a big smile on his face. He even made poses, flexing his muscles, which made their cheers grow louder.

I have to admit, I'm glad I could get their respect, even that Jimmy kid. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to visiting more often. I later received news that Sly was in the hospital from his job, so I had to take the girls home, which was okay with me. We celebrated with pizza and ice cream. It was a good way to keep them distracted until Carmelita showed up, plus I didn't have the heart to tell them about Sly. I just hope he's okay.

That was a short one, but I wasn't going to draw it out more by teasing Murray nonstop. Anyway, the school shooter was inspired by The Terminator, of course. Rate and review.
