Time for my favorite part in A New Hope. Fun Fact: in Junior High School, we had this thing called Movie's and Munchies during lunch where we could watch a movie during our lunch period and one of those movies was the original Star Wars itself. I even remember starting us off from the beginning of the final battle cause, as I said it was my favorite part.
Speaking of the battle, it will be more exciting than the actual canon with more fighter combat than originally shown, I'll be taking a que from a revisited version of the battle, plus a few familiar faces flying X-Wings. And for those of you wondering, Biggs won't be dying.
Some of you may also have noticed I took a que from the video, SC38 with the fight against Vader and Obi-Wan. Thanks go out to my friend, Spartan-626.
Before I forget, I have some plans regarding Volume's 6 and 7 and I am finding Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga to be a fun game to play, but I do like the older ones.
Anyway, let's get onto the reviews.
42: Tenn Graeet? Well, let's just say I've neglected to mention something else about the Falcon's escape. So, you'll be seeing him again, just not on the imperial side.
Spartan-626: I had Jaune take Obi-Wan's lightsaber for a reason, a reason that you will see further down the line. True, many people will not like seeing Yularen, but the former colonel will prove himself.
Jack Smith1: Thank you.
54godamora: Yes, I used the remastered scene of Obi-Wan vs Vader, I have Spartan-626 to thank for that idea.
BlindFaunusGirl: Trust me, when I say you're going to love what I have planned for this chapter.
Hamm1999: I don't know what kind of puns that Yang can make regarding to the Death Star's destruction. Now, Nora chasing the guys who got involved with the Death Star's destruction, because she was left out of the action, chasing no, complaining about it for a bit, yes.
Luffy L Deathwalker: I haven't played the Rouge Squadron games either, well, maybe a few levels when I was at a friend's house, but I never really played them fully. I have seen others play them on Youtube so I know a few things. That being said, yes, yes and yes to the rest of your review.
Reader, the guest reviewer: I'm following the Legends universe of Star Wars, as in no First Order, no Snoke, no Kylo Ren, no Finn, no Rey and such. Only things from canon are the Bad Batch, Crosshair's sniper rifle, whistling birds and such.
Handwran: Why don't you just let me write my way, ok.
BFTyrant: Thank you. I hope you keep on reading and review on the chapters that you like.
Alright, onto a very special chapter.
Song's this chapter are 'Battle of Yavin' from Star Wars itself and 'Contact' from Ace Combat Zero.
Disclaimers are the same as before, please enjoy.

Chapter 82: A New Hope: Part 6
The lust green forests of Yavin 4 greeted the Millennium Falcon and its passengers as the freighter flew overhead towards the Massassi Temple as it was tracked by a lookout as it landed outside the temple where a military speeder waited for them. To the surprise of the rebels, as the speeder entered the temple Colonel Yularen along with Tenn Graeet, the one who pulled the trigger of the Death Star's primary weapon handed themselves over to the Rebellion, the later of whom was so wracked with his guilt of destroying two billion lives stowed away onboard the Falcon in hopes that he could pay for his actions by allowing the rebellion to decide his fate.
As for Yularen, he was greeted by Kota who listened to the former colonel's pleas and decided to give the colonel a chance, which he would have to discuss with the rest of the rebel high command. Leia and the others were greeted by General Vanden William who was pleased to see Leia. "You're safe. When we heard about Alderaan, we feared the worst." He admitted.
"We have no time for sorrows, General. We must use the information in this R2 unit to help plan our attack. It's our only hope." Leia said to the General while Ruby made her way to the 30mm cannon of a certain red and white fighter jet that was undergoing maintenance. She reached out to touch the cannon when someone snuck up behind her and shocked her.
"YEOUCH!" she screamed as R5 whistled mischievously before rolling back towards a certain pair of armored warriors. "Did you have R5 do that to me deliberately, Trigger?" Ruby asked in annoyance.
"Actually, R5 did that on his own. He's… got an unusual sense of humor." Ray admitted, rubbing the back of his head embarrassed. "Didn't think you'd be coming here after what went down at Haven. I thought you and your friends would be on your way to Atlas by now."
"Proxy arrived shortly after you two left the planet. We were supposed to rendezvous with Leia over Tatooine, but we arrived later than we wanted to and carried on with the second part of our mission. Bringing Obi-Wan Kenobi to the rebellion."
"So, where is Kenobi? Is he still on the ship?" Neo inquired.
"He gave his life so that we could escape." Galen answered. "I'm sure the two of you sensed it from here."
"That explains the pain we felt not to long ago." Ray realized. "Oh, Galen. Your fighters loaded up with all the missiles it can carry. You're going to need them for the fight that's coming our way."
"Yeah, the Empire is coming. They placed a homing beacon on the ship and it's a safe bet that they know our location." Galen answered, as rebel personal gathered around him and two of the three Garuda Team pilots, gazing in awe at the Demon Lord himself. "I take it you two were the ones who spread word about my exploits on Remnant, didn't you?"
"Actually, a few pilots in Red and Gold Squadron were the ones who told them about what you did." Neo answered. "You've got quite the reputation, Mr. Demon Lord. Hell, some of the new guys are ex-imperial pilots who only joined up because they didn't want to tangle with you, but they've had a change of heart after what just happened with Alderaan and some even joined after Naboo." She then turned to Ruby. "Hey, little red!"
"Oh great! Now Roman's former brainwashed partner is now calling me that." Ruby pouted.
"I'm just kidding with you, Ruby. I just wanted to say thanks for killing Roman. He almost made me take the one thing important to me that I had left. I know it's it a little late, but I want to say I'm sorry for trying to kill you and friends. You all know the details why I did what I did, but I just wanted to say sorry, properly." She told the girl.
"I already forgave you along time ago, Neo. Besides, you're my friend now and a Mandalorian Jedi! How cool is that!" Ruby squealed in excitement. "Sorry, I just…"
"Don't worry about it." Neo assured. "Come on, we need to get to the briefing." She then turned on her heels and walked towards the briefing room where the rest of the pilots were heading. Galen, Ruby, Ray and the rest of her group followed her. "Oh yeah, I almost forgot. If you're planning on traveling across Anima to go to Atlas, there's a place you should avoid at all costs, I heard about it from Cinder when that bitch brainwashed me. But I forget the name of the place."
"Better tell me about it later." Ruby said as she took a seat next to Galen as General Jan Dodonna stepped up in front of the holo-screen and the Death Star appeared on the screen.
"The battle station is heavily shielded and carries with it a firepower greater than half the star fleet. Its defenses are designed around a large-scale assault. A small one-man fighter should be able to penetrate the outer defenses." Dodonna explained.
"Pardon me for asking, sir, but what good are snub fighters going to be against that?" Jon Vander asked.
"Well, the Empire doesn't consider a small one-man fighter to be any threat, or they would have a tighter defense." Dodonna continued. "An analysis of the plans provided by Princess Leia has demonstrated a weakness in the battle station." The screen beside changed to the image of a massive trench. "The approach will not be easy. You are required to maneuver straight down this trench and skim the surface to this point. The target area is only two meters wide. It's a small thermal exhaust port, right below the main port. The shaft leads directly to the main reactor. A precise hit will start a chain reaction which should destroy the station."
Murmurs of disbelief amongst the rebel pilots ran through the room before Dodonna spoke again. "The shaft is ray shielded, so you'll have to use Proton Torpedoes. The Galm and Garuda Teams, along with the Galen Marek, the Demon Lord himself will be taking part in this mission and thanks to information provided to us by two Imperial defectors, we've learned the Grun, Rot, Indigo and Strigon teams are not present aboard the battle station." He added.
"That's impossible! Even for a computer!" Wedge exclaimed in regard to the exhaust port.
"It's not impossible. I used to bullseye womp rats in my T16 back home, they're not bigger than two meters." Luke told the pilot.
"Then man your ships! And May the Force be with you." Dodonna ordered, ending the briefing.
Meanwhile, the Death Star had exited hyperspace and had begun to orbit the planet Yavin, to position itself for firing at the moon on the far side. Tarkin and Vader observed the projector screen as a voice over the intercom contacted them. "Orbiting the planet at maximum velocity. The moon with the rebel base will be in range in thirty minutes."
"This will be a day long remembered. It has seen the end of Kenobi and it will soon see the end of the rebellion." He said to the governor who kept his gaze on the projection screen.
Back on the moon, rebel flight crews rushed about loading the last of the ordnance onto the fighters while also unlocking the power couplings. Luke had changed into one of the spare rebel flight suits and looked around before he spotted Han and Chewbacca loading crates onto a speeder, ready to leave. "So, you got your reward and you're just leaving?" Luke questioned as he walked over to the two.
"That's right, yeah. I've got some old debts to pay off with this stuff. Even if I didn't, you don't think I would be foolish enough to stick around here, do you?" Han answered as he loaded the last of the crates onto the speeder. "Why don't you come with us? You're pretty good in a fight. We could use you."
"Come on, Han. Why don't you take a look around? You know what's about to happen, what they're up against. They could use a good pilot like you. How can you turn your back on them?" Ruby asked as she walked over to them.
"Look, pipsqueak. What good's a reward if you ain't around to use it. Besides, attacking that station ain't my idea of courage, more like suicide." Han answered.
"All right. Well, take care of yourself, Han. I guess that's what you're best at." Luke scoffed and walked towards his fighter. Ruby followed after him, though she wasn't taking part in the battle.
"Hey, Luke, Ruby." Han called out, getting the two of them to turn around and look at him. "May the Force be with you."
Both of them walked towards Galen's ship where they were met by Leia and the others. "What's wrong?" Leia asked Luke.
"It's Han. I really thought he changed his mind." Luke admitted.
"He's got to follow his own path. No one can choose it for him, or anyone." Leia stated.
"I only wish, Ben was here." Luke admitted.
"I know what you mean." Ruby said in agreement. "When I was little, my mom disappeared from my life, and I haven't seen her since. But I know she's out there and is watching me from wherever she is. Obi-Wan is watching you for you as well. Just make him proud and you'll do fine."
"My girlfriend's right you know." Galen agreed as he climbed into the cockpit of his fighter, not even wearing a flight suit. "You just need to focus on taking down the battle station and making Obi-Wan proud."
"Thanks, Galen." Luke said with a smile before he continued towards his own fighter. He didn't get far before a familiar voice called his name.
"Hey, Luke!"
Luke turned around and was surprised to see his old friend. "Biggs!" he said happily, clapping each other on the shoulder.
"I don't believe it! How are you?" Biggs asked with a laugh.
"Great!" Luke replied.
"Are you going to be up there with us and the Demon Lord?" Biggs asked.
"I'll be right up there with you guys and have I got stories to tell you." Luke answered.
"Skywalker!" Garven called out as he approached the two friends, helmet in hand. "You sure you can handle this?"
"Sir, Luke is the best bush pilot in the outer rim territories." Biggs clarified.
"If you're anything like your father, you'll do alright. I met him once, during the Clone Wars when I was a boy." Garven admitted before walking away toward his own fighter.
"I gotta get aboard. I'll hear all your stories when we get back." Biggs said as he ducked down under the wing of Luke's fighter while Luke told him he would make it one day, with Biggs saying that things will be just like old time.
As Luke climbed aboard his ship, the crew chief working on Luke's fighter noticed Artoo's damage and notified Luke about this. "This R2 unit of yours seems a bit bet up, you sure you don't want a new one?" the chief asked.
"Not on your life! That little droid and I have been through a lot together." Luke answered, which Artoo agreed before Luke climbed into the cockpit as Gold Squadron, was cleared for take-off, followed by the Galm and Garuda teams and finally Red Squadron. As he checked his systems, Luke could have sworn he heard Obi-Wan's voice in his head but dismissed it as nothing before he joined the other thirty-six fighters in their ascent to space.
(Start Battle of Yavin)
As the fighters made for space, those that weren't flying headed into the war room and heard the intercom's warning. "Stand by alert. Death Star approaching. Estimated time until firing range, fifteen minutes."
"Fifteen minutes?" Jaune exclaimed in shock.
"They'll make it, Jaune was it?" Graeet assured the blonde knight, still wracked with guilt over pulling the trigger of the space stations primary weapon, twice now. "They have to make it, they have to avenge all those who died by my hands." He said with a clenched fist.
"Tarkin gave the order to fire the weapon, not you. He is responsible for those deaths, not you." Yularen pointed out to the former gunnery officer while Ruby kept her eyes glues to the beacon that was Galen's fighter.
The formation of Rebel fighters flew in formation towards the massive space station and Galen could sense their fear and anxiety as he flew with them. Many had their doubts about completing the mission, but Galen knew that if they failed, it would be just like Obi-Wan said with other worlds falling prey to the stations super weapon. "All Wings, report in." Garven instructed.
"Red Ten, standing by." Theron Nett called out.
"Red Seven, standing by."
"Red Three, standing by." Biggs reported.
"Red Six, standing by." A pilot named Jek Porkins called in.
"Red Nine, standing by."
"Red Two, standing by." Wedge reported.
"Red Eleven, standing by."
"Red Four, standing by."
"Red Eight, standing by."
"Blue One, standing by." Merrick Simms reported
"Blue Two, standing by." Ru Murleen reported.
"Blue Three, standing by." Jaxmaso Shenatt 'aka' Rookie One reported.
"Blue Four, standing by." Thurlow Harris reported.
"Green One, standing by."
"Green Two, standing by."
"Green Three, standing by."
"Green Four, standing by."
"Green Five, standing by."
"Green Six, standing by."
"Galm One, locked and loaded." Cipher acknowledged.
"Galm Two, ready to kick the tires and light the fires." Pixy called out.
"Galm Three, awaiting orders." PJ reported.
"Gold Two, standing by."
"Gold Three, standing by."
"Gold Four, standing by."
"Gold Five, standing by."
"Gold Six, standing by."
"Gold Seven, standing by."
"Garuda One, ready to kick some bucketheads to the curb." Trigger shouted.
"Garuda Two, let's put these puppies through the works." Neo announced.
"Garuda Three, ready for battle." Mickey called out.
"Starkiller, standing by." Galen reported
"Red Five, standing by." Luke reported from his own X-Wing, with Artoo beeping in response as well.
"Lock S-Foils in attack position." Garven ordered the pilots as the wings of their Incom T-65's unfolded and locked into position. "We're passing through the magnetic field, hold tight! Switch your deflectors on. Double front!" he warned his pilots as they flew in formation towards the massive battle station.
"Look at the size of that thing!" Wedge exclaimed in shock.
"Cut the chatter, Red Two. Accelerate to attack speed." Garven ordered. "This is it boys."
"Red Leader, this is Gold Leader." Luke heard Dutch say over the commlink.
"I copy, Gold Leader." Garven acknowledged.
"We're starting for the target shaft now." Dutch announced.
"We're in position. I'm going to cut across the axis and try to draw their fire. Garuda Team, Galm Team, Starkiller. Time to go to work." Garven ordered as he took his fighter into a dive, followed by several other Red Squadron X-Wings as the space stations turbo lasers opened up on them, but the nimble rebel fighters were small enough to evade the turbo laser fire.
"Heavy fire, boss. Twenty degrees!" Wedge warned.
"I see it, stay low." Garven advised as he zoomed across the surface of the battle station while Garuda Team took out one of the stations deflection towers in order for Gold Squadron to make their attack run. Another tower exploded from the combined fire of the Galm Team while Galen fired his ships cannons at some of the turrets guarding the third tower.
"This is Red 5, I'm going in!" Luke called out and dived towards the station surface, firing his X-Wings cannons at the tower Galen had his attention on, destroying it but got to close to the explosion.
"Luke! Pull out!" Biggs shouted as his friend flew through the explosion. "Are you alright?"
"I got a little cooked, but I'm okay." Luke admitted, veering away with Biggs by his side. More deflection towers were destroyed by the rebel pilots, who pressed their attack.
Inside the massive superweapon, imperial personal ran in every direction as an officer ran frantically towards Vader. "We count almost forty rebel ships, Lord Vader. But they're so small they're evading our turbo lasers and we have confirmed reports that the Demon Lord and Three Strikes are among the pilots." The officer reported.
"We'll have to destroy them ship to ship. Get the crews to their fighters." Vader ordered the officer before he turned away.
Back outside the station, Luke raced past a set of turrets as the battle raged on."Watch yourself, there's a lot of fire coming from the right side of the last deflection tower." Garven warned.
"I'm going in, cover me Porkins." Biggs said to Red 6, who followed him and destroyed the last deflection tower, but lucky shot from one of the turbo lasers struck Porkin's fighter in the upper portside engine.
"I've got a problem here." Porkin's called out.
"Eject!" Biggs demanded.
"I can hold it!" Porkin's assured his wingman.
"Pull up!" Biggs shouted.
"No, I'm alright-AHH!" Porkin's began before his ship exploded from another direct hit from the station's turbo lasers. Several other fighters were destroyed by turbo laser fire, which in turn forced the Galm and Garuda teams along with Galen and Luke to target the batteries. The eight fighters formed up behind each other in a single line and dived towards the batteries, knocking out several guns in a single pass before it was Luke's turn to make his pass.
"Luke, trust your feelings." The voice of Obi-Wan instructed the son of Anakin Skywalker, who thought something was wrong with his headset but found nothing as he dived in and knocked out a battery of turbo lasers, but time was running out for the rebels.
"Squad leaders, we picked up a new group of signals. Enemy fighters coming your way." One of the rebel officers warned from the planet.
"My scopes negative. I don't see anything." Luke said.
(Pause Battle of Yavin 2:58 and start Contact)
"Pick up your visual scanning. Here they come!" Garven called out. Sure enough, dozens of TIE fighters out of the stations seven thousand fighters dived in from above began their attack. Several rebel pilots were shot down when they were caught by surprise and in turn kept them from covering Gold Squadron's run for their target.
Most imperial pilots caught sight of Galen went after the glory that would come with taking down the Demon Lord, practically competing with each other for the kill shot. They were good, but Galen was better than them due to his training by the best pilots on Remnant. Cannon fire flew past his canopy from ahead of him as four fighters screamed towards him at top speed.
Banking left, Galen got behind the fighters and fired four of his missiles, destroying the enemy fighters before he opened up with his cannons, knocking out two of the fighters that chasing him earlier while the last two panicked and collided with each other.
"Time to dive into the fireworks." Trigger said as his helmets visor showed him the distance between him and his target. Lining up the nose of his craft, he pulled the trigger and fired a burst of laser fire that took down his target, which slammed into the stations surface. His fighter than shook as cannon fire from an enemy fire zipped past him. "I got one on my tail. I could use a little help here." He called out.
Help did arrive as Luke got behind the imperial fighter and downed it. "Damn, Luke. You got some moves. You're a hell of a pilot!" Trigger complimented as the son of Skywalker veered off after another group of fighters and fired his cannons, downing four more imperial craft.
"Let's not let Luke have all the fun. Let's go, Galm Team. Let's show them why we're sometime called wild dogs." Cipher said over the commlink to Larry and PJ who formed up on his flanks and fired as a squadron of enemy fighters flew past their noses in their chase after Gold Seven, Keyan Farlander who according to Kota was strong in the Force. The three X-Wings cannons reduced the squadron to space dust as another pair of X-Wings were shot down by the Empire.
"I'm on these bastards!" Mickey said over the commlink as he pushed his starfighters four engines to maximum and gave chase after another group of imperial fighters. His cannons downed two fighters, but the other broke off from their attack and dived towards the stations surface. Mickey pitched his fighter over and dived after them, unleashing another barrage from his cannons that downed one fighter and clipped the wing of the second, sending it crashing into the surface as he pulled up to avoid a similar fate.
PJ zigged and zagged as cannon fire from above him slammed into the Death Star's surface as a pair of TIE's dived down on him. He pulled the controls back hard, the stick almost in his gut as he sharply turned to the right into the fire of several turbo lasers that shot down Gold Three's Y-Wing. Increasing his engines to maximum power, he gunned it towards the turrets hoping the fighters pursuing would take the bait.
The imperial did take the bait and flew after PJ, only for the third member of the Galm Team to bank to the right, narrowly avoiding the turrets while the TIE's slammed into the turrets in an explosive fashion. "Glad I'm not serving the Empire." PJ said to himself before he spotted a group of TIE's and flew after them.
Neo raced after a formation of TIE's that were chasing Red's Seven, Eight and Nine but she was too late to save them from certain death. "Buckethead bastards!" she snarled and opened up with her cannons, downing the victorious imperial fighters and avenging her comrades. Cannon fire streaked past her fighter as four fighters ganged up on her as she flew over a turbo laser battery. "Alright you sucker's, you want me, come and get me." She grinned and pushed her engines to maximum power, flying over the several turbo laser batteries which kept on firing at her as she flew over them. As for the fighters, they were taken down by friendly fire and impacted on the Death Star's surface.
The battle between the imperial and rebel forces continued as both sides continued to mount loses as the timer continued to tick down. Green Squadron was completely annihilated by an enemy squadron before that squadron was downed by the last of Galen's missiles. "We need to focus on the target shaft! We're running out of time!" he called out as he blasted two enemy fighters that flew right past his nose.
(End Contact and resume Battle of Yavin)
"Roger that, Demon Lord." Garven shouted from his X-Wing before he spotted a lone TIE hot on the tail of Red Four, John D. Branon of Dalandae. "Watch it! You got one on your tail!" Garven warned the pilot who tried hard to avoid the fighters' cannons.
His efforts to evade the enemy fire proved to be futile as his fighter took a hit. "I'm hit!" he called out before his fighter was engulfed in flames and exploded.
"Biggs! You picked one up watch it!" Luke shouted to his friend.
"I can't see him! He's on me tight I can't shake him!" Biggs shouted in alarm as the fighter stuck to him like a Grimm drawn to negative emotions. He tried every defensive maneuver he could think of, but the fighter continued after him.
"I'll be right there!" Luke called out and gave chase after the fighter until it he had a clear shot and fired, scoring his sixth kill of the day. As he scanned for new targets, Luke heard the call of Red Leader.
"Pull in. Luke… pull in! Watch your back, Luke! Watch your back! Fighter above you! Coming in!" Red Leader warned. A single imperial fighter dived in firing its cannons and scored a hit on the upper right engine of Luke's fighter.
"I'm hit, but it's not bad. R2 see what you can do about it. Hang on back there!" Luke exclaimed to the blue and silver astromech who gave an affirmative reply as he carried out his instructions.
"Can anyone see Red Five?" Garven asked over the commlink.
"There's a heavy fire zone on this side. Red Five, where are you?" Red Ten asked.
"I can't shake him!" Luke answered as he avoided the shots from the enemy fighter. He continued to dodge while his pursuer kept firing when they had a clear shot. Only seconds later, Wedge dived in and downed the fighter flying through the explosion. "Thanks, Wedge." Luke sighed with relief.
"Red Leader this is Gold Leader, we're starting our attack run." Dutch announced as his flight dived down towards the trench.
"I copy, Gold Leader. Move into position." Garven ordered the remaining rebel pilots, unaware that three new fighters had raced out of the Death Star towards the rebels going for the trench.
Inside his cockpit, Dutch and his wingman dived for the trench. "The exhaust port is marked and locked in!" he exclaimed as the turbo lasers guarding the trench opened up of the three Y-Wings as they skimmed the surface of the station. "Switch all power to front deflector shields, switch all power to front deflector shields." He ordered Gold's Five and Two as turbo laser fire bracketed their fighters. "How many guns do you think, Gold Five?" Dutch asked his wingman.
"I'd say about, twenty-guns. Some on the surface, some on the tower." Gold Five answered. Seconds later, a barrage of red and blue laser bolts slammed into some of the guns, destroying them. "Make that about ten guns now." The pilot remarked as the Galm Team swooped overhead after making their pass.
"That's the Galm Team for you." Dutch smirked. "Switch to targeting computer."
The targeting computer counted down the distance between the fighters and the exhaust port but as they approached the target the guns fell silent. It soon became obvious as two TIE fighters dived down, flanking the TIE Advanced of Darth Vader himself who had taken to the battle. "All pilots, it's Vader! Vader's taken to the battlefield!" Galen warned.
The three TIEs zoomed across the surface as Vader lined up his own targeting computer and fired at Gold Two, killing them. Dutch looked over his shoulder and looked back in fear as the Sith Lords advanced TIE fighter and his wingman raced along the trench in a tight formation. "It's no good I can't maneuver!" Dutch panicked.
"Stay on target!" Gold Five said trying to calm his squad leader down.
"We're too close!" Dutch protested.
"Stay on target!" Gold Five said again.
"Loosen up!" Dutch shouted only to be killed seconds later by Vader.
"Gold Five to Red Leader. Lost Tiree, lost Dutch. It came from behind…" he began only to be killed by Vader with a direct hit to one of his engines.
"Damn it! That's all we needed!" Ray snarled as he and the remaining rebel fighters kept focus on the Imperial fighters, now with only three minutes remaining before the massive station could fire on the moon.
Suddenly, multiple contacts were detected by both the Empire and Rebellion emerging from Hyperspace. The contacts were the Enterprise, Belfast, Repulse and Yorktown which upon entering the system launched all of their V-Wings, Z-95's and ARC-170's, led by Plo himself in the Blade of Dorin. "Wolf-Leader to Red Leader, we'll engage the fighters while your pilots take out the space station." Plo said into the commlink.
"Wolf-Leader, this is Red Leader, I copy. Glad you could make it general. We're taking a real beating and we're almost out of time." Garven said over the commlink before he ordered the rest of Red Squadron to rendezvous with him while the cruisers moved away from the station.
"Red Leader, this is Base One. Keep half your group out of range for the next run. Garuda Team, Galm Team, Starkiller, engage the fighters." Dodonna ordered over the commlink.
"Copy Base One. Luke, take Red's Two and Three. Hold up here and wait for my signal to start your run." Garven ordered before he, Red's Ten and Twelve dived into the trench directly towards the exhaust port amidst the turbo laser fire.
As the three X-Wings raced down the trench, the turbo laser fire intensified before it finally came to a stop. "Keep your eyes open for those fighters." Garven warned.
"There's too much interference. Red Five, can you see anything?" Red Ten asked Luke who along with Biggs and Wedge were still engaging the imperial fighters.
"No sign of any… Wait! Coming in point three-five." Luke called out as Vader and his wingman dived into the trench right after his comrades. The three X-Wings were soon within range of the target shaft as the TIE fighters came closer and closer to them. Vader once again lined up his targeting computer and fired a volley of laser's that killed Red Twelve and caused Red Ten to panic before he was killed by one of Vader's wingmen.
Despite the lose of his wingman, Garven managed to get within firing range and fired his torpedoes. "It's away!" he yelled as his torpedoes slammed into the target, but to his dismay the warheads didn't enter the shaft. "Negative, it didn't go in. Just impact on the surface." He reported as Vader bared down on him.
"Red Leader, we're right above you. Turn to point o five, we'll cover for you." Luke called out.
"Stay there, I just lost my starboard engine. Get set up for your attack run! Trigger! You keep flying and make me proud kid! Consider this your final lesson from your teacher!" he yelled as he took a hit, screaming as he slammed into the space station's surface.
"You only have a minute left!" Ruby shouted over the commlink.
Luke knew Ruby was right and gave the order. "Biggs, Wedge, let's close it up. We're going in. We're going in full throttle. That ought to keep those fighters of our back."
"Right with you boss." Wedge replied.
"Luke, at that speed you think you'll be able to pull out in time?" Biggs questioned.
"It'll be just like Beggars Canyon back home." Luke answered as the three X-Wings dived into the trench amidst the barrage of turbo laser fire. Wedge and Biggs kept back far enough to cover Luke from the enemy fighters. Wedge however was still concerned about whether or not the computer could hit the target shaft, but Luke ignored his question and kept his focus on the mission. "Watch yourself, increase speed full throttle!" he instructed. Yet again, Wedge asked about the tower above the target. "You worry about those fighters! I'll worry about the tower!" he ordered before he noticed his stabilizer had broken lose and instructed Artoo to lock it down as the turbo lasers ceased.
The three pilots knew what this meant, and Wedge was the one who spotted the fighters coming in from behind at a faster speed. One of the fighters scored a hit on Wedge's micro-maneuvering controls. "I'm hit! I can't stay with you!" Wedge exclaimed.
"Get clear Wedge! You can't do anymore good back there!" Luke ordered as the Corellian pilot pulled his crippled fighter away, leaving only Luke and Biggs left. As expected, the imperial fighters were coming in much faster than before and Biggs was doing all he could to keep the fighters off of Luke.
"Hurry up, Luke!" Biggs shouted as Vader lined up his targeting computer on his best friend and was about to fire when coming from the opposite direction at top speed was Galen who fired his cannons at Vader, causing the Dark Lord's shots to hit the same controls that Wedge lost. "I'm out, Luke. Sorry, buddy. It's all up to you now!" Biggs exclaimed as he pulled away from the space station.
Only thirty seconds remained as Luke activated his targeting computer, adjusting it as he raced down the trench with the three fighters behind him. It was then, he heard a voice. 'Use the Force, Luke. Let go, Luke.' Obi-Wans voice said in his head.
"Ben?" Luke questioned.
Trailing behind him, Vader sensed something unusual about the pilot. "The Force is strong with this one."
'Luke, trust me.' The ghostly voice of Obi-Wan instructed. Much to the surprise of the ground personal, Luke shut off his targeting computer and assured the base that everything was alright. Only seconds later, a blast of lasers from Vader slammed into Artoo who screamed in alarm.
That wasn't the worst part as the Death Star had finally cleared the planet and Tarkin gave the order for the station to fire on the rebel base. Luke on the other hand, was still determined to complete the mission and zig-zagged to keep Vader from getting a shot off.
"I have you now." Vader said as he finally got a lock on Luke's fighter and fired, only for one of his wingmen to be shot down. "What?" he demanded.
"YAHOO!" Han's voice rang out of the commlink as the Falcon swooped in from the sun, causing the second TIE pilot to panic, colliding with Vader's fighter before he crashed into the side of the trench wall while Vader spun out of control with a damaged wing and bent solar fin. "You're all clear kid! Now let's blow this thing and go home!" Han shouted encouragingly.
Luke didn't waste any time and fired off his only two torpedoes which entered the exhaust port and headed for the reactor. The remaining Rebel fighters and clone fighters sped away from the space station before seconds later, it exploded in a massive supernova, killing all those onboard.
"Great shot, kid! That was one in a million!" Han cheered.
"Way to go, Luke!" Neo shouted.
"Looks like you've got the touch!" Cipher complemented.
"You can be my wingman any time." Trigger praised.
"Well done, Luke. Well done." Galen added.
Luke sighed with relief before he heard Obi-Wans voice once more. 'Remember, the Force will be with you, always.'
As for Vader, he managed to regain control of his craft and headed towards Imperial controlled space while the Rebels headed back for Yavin 4.
(End Song)
When the survivors landed, they were greeted with cheers from the members of the rebellion, including Leia who rushed to Luke and hugged him. Yularen watched from behind with a smile, proud of Luke's accomplishment as Cody walked towards him. "He's certainly got General Skywalkers piloting skills in him." Cody observed.
"His talents are best used for the rebellion instead of the Empire, considering they killed his aunt and uncle who knew nothing about the plans or the Death Star." Yularen said sadly at the thought of another family destroyed by the Empire. "I can only hope that Bail and the people of Alderaan can rest easy now, knowing that Tarkin and the Death Star have been destroyed."
They watched on as Galen and Ruby joined them, with Ruby wrapping her arms around Galen in a hug as well while a badly damaged Artoo was lowered from Luke's X-Wing. Threepio was quick to offer any of parts to help repair Artoo, but Luke assured him while Trigger asked Han the question, they were all wondering. "Why did you come back, Solo? I thought you were in this only for the money?"
"Well, I wasn't going to let Luke here take all the credit while I took the reward. Besides, after some convincing from Chewie, I figured I'd stay and help you guys out. You guys need all the help you can get." Han explained before he led Luke and Leia away.
Several hours later, after everyone was cleaned up and changed, the base personal gathered in the in the main temple where Luke, Han, Chewie, Ruby, Jaune and Galen were awarded medals for their bravery. Artoo was fully repaired by then and stood alongside Threepio, R4, KT, R5, Pyrrha, Kota, Cody, Yularen, Plo, Graeet and the members of the Galm and Garuda Teams.
The ceremony concluded when Chewbacca roared with pride causing the rebels and clones to cheer over their victory against the Empire, but the war was only just beginning.
And That concludes A New Hope.
First, let's review what is different from canon.
Biggs is alive. He'll be sticking around.
Two other squadrons were among the rebel forces that attacked the Death Star. I looked up the battle on the Star Wars wiki site, so that's where I learned about them. I've been going on that site for years and I love it, I have learned a lot about the series that I didn't know.
Plo and several Eight Fleet ships arrived to assist the Yavin fighters, so they will be involved in what comes next, especially with Plo Koon and Luke.
Four new Imperial Squadrons have been mentioned. They are from Ace Combat: Zero and Six, but they won't be seen for a while. If any of you have played Ace Combat Six, you'll know that someone will be changing their allegiance in the future.
Yularen isn't the only who defected to the Rebellion, the man who fired the Death Star's weapon at Alderaan and Despayre has joined the rebels, seeking redemption for his actions. I'm drawing a blank on how he can redeem himself, so if any of you have an idea, please leave it in a review or PM.
So, it seems that people are voting for the Bad Batch to go with Galen and to others to the Farm. Well, there's only one chapter left before we start volume 6. Until then, we got one more chapter and this is for you Rogue Squadron players.
Until then, please read and review and I'll see all next time. Again, this chapter is dedicated to my Grandmother.
