A/N okay everyone, this is my very first ever fan fic story, so just bare with me…

Tears for a Loved One

Hermione gazed out her window at the beautiful mountainous horizon.

Ron would have loved this, she thought to herself as a small smile eased onto her face for the first time in weeks. It was funny, how everything that been so perfect, had gone so wrong in just one instant. All of those days spent with him, laughing, talking, and just making each other smile, would never happen again.

Hermione thought back to the first time they had gone out on a date with each other. He had gotten out his best dress robes and combed his hair really nice. The whole night would have been perfect except that Ron had lost the tickets for their concert. He had been so upset but Hermione had helped him get over it by getting out some fire whiskey and soon enough they were laughing about the whole ordeal together.

Hermione wiped a tear from her eye as she remembered all of the good times they had had. All those kisses, those dates, and the small whispers promising to stay together forever. Now she would never be able to do that with him again. She would never hear his laugh or feel his soft gentle touch.

"Hermione?" a familiar voice asked from her doorway,

"Almost ready? The funeral is in an hour."

"Yes, I'm coming." She answered, blowing her nose.

Harry closed the door and crossed over the room to sid down next to Hermione.

"You need more time?"

"No, it's just…" her voice faded and she sniffled.

"Why did it happen? Why him? Why now:

"Some things we'll never know" Harry answered softly.

Hermione turned toward Harry and laid her head on his shoulder and sobbed softly. He held her in his arms for a couple minutes, stroking her hair and rubbing her back.

Finally, Hermione lifted her head and wiped the tears of her face. Silently they both stood up and walked out of the house to a Ministry car waiting to take them to Ronald Weasly's funeral.
