Author's Note: I wrote this poem about two years ago for my dual enrollment class in English. We had to write three poems about specific people that we picked. I chose Kikyo from InuYasha, Raistlin Majere from Dragonlance, and a friend of mine. This is the Kikyo poem. I own nothing InuYasha.
A priestess to protect the sacred stone
She always knew she was meant to be alone
Until the day a half-demon stole her heart
She never wanted them to be apart
By an evil trick, she slew her beloved
And lost the jewel that so many had coveted
The wounds she received from her lover
Ended her life and her need to suffer
Fifty years later, she was brought back to life
Only to find her demon and so began their strife
Love separated by ill will
She longs to return to him still
She walks the world, consuming the souls of the dead
Never did she desire to leave her grave bed
Her wish is for her love to expire
So they may return to a region of fire
He is protected by her devotion
But his life will end because of her emotion
By destroying her love and the jewel also
She will end the pain she was never meant to know
Please review, good or bad!
