Chapter Two
Meanwhile, in a large room about a few yards from the centre of the sanctuary and the residential quarters, Tania the Panda was sitting at a table looking at a list made of orders from the residents of Mutopia and their guests.
Since the beginning of the summer, the Panda had been requested to get Halloween costumes made for the upcoming holiday, and she couldn't be more delighted to get started.
Even though she had lived in Mutopia for a long time and had adjusted to the life she had in the sanctuary, she still had bittersweet feelings of life before she mutated.
She wasn't the only one to feel that way, especially as many had been in the same boat as here, having no choice or had been saved from death by the Mutation of the Magical Well.
Amber and Sonia were good examples, and Diablo, even though she like the others felt he was no Mutopian after he betrayed them and went rogue.
After five minutes of reviewing the lists, Tania carefully put them in a folder then turned to a couple of curtained areas of her workshop.
Amongst the many body models and fabrics and sewing equipment, looking like a shop that any seamstress or dress maker would be proud off, were two curtained areas, one was green, and the other red.
Tania had a reason for the colour coded areas, because behind the curtains were outfits that she was keeping secret, others she was planning to show before the actual days of the Halloween celebration.
Checking the entrance to her room where beyond was her salon, the Panda walked over to the green curtained area and looked at the many outfits she had made yet needed to alter before the celebrations.
She was proud of herself, and she couldn't wait to show her customers.
Closing the green curtain, she went over to the red curtain and checking over her shoulder, she gripped the curtain with finger and thumb to pull it back.
"Tannie!" The Panda almost jumped out of her skin when she heard a female voice in her hair salon, and she quickly jumped to face the entrance and walked to it before the owner of the voice could walk into her secret lair.
Tania walked to the entrance of her workshop that lead to her salon where some colourful hanging beads separated it and she soon saw Sarah walk in holding her hair and looking dressed.
Tania chuckled at the Cheetah.
"Bad hair day Spots?" she quipped.
"What do you think?" Sarah asked rolling her eyes "My hairs a total bird's nest!"
Tania chuckled and shook her head.
"Awww, well, have no fear, Tannie is here!" she gestured Sarah to a seat in front of one of her many mirrors with lights around them and wrapped a robe around Sarah's neck covering her front.
"So, what will it be?" the Panda asked as she looked at Sarah in the mirror.
"Just a wash and trim please." Sarah replied, "My split ends are just giving me grief!"
"No worries!" Tania winked.
As Tania set to work on sorting Sarah's hair out, she smiled.
She was in her element doing her part in Mutopia, being the one many went to when it came to hair, make up and clothes making.
When she first woke up mutated in Mutopia, it had been very difficult to accept that her human life was over, and she lived in a world below the city and that the humans would never accept her.
But after a while, as well as support from the other mutants around her, she had managed to find her purpose in life, and that was following her dreams that she had as a human and transferring them to where she was now.
After a while, she had washed Sarah's hair and trimmed it, then put some product on it and before long the Cheetah's hair looked perfectly smooth and styled the way she wanted.
"Oh wow!" Sarah exclaimed as she felt her hair and how soft it was as well as no longer looking like a bird's nest.
"Tania! You're a joy! Thank you so much!"
"You're welcome!" Tania smiled "Go and show it off!"
Sarah thanked the Panda again then left the salon to go and show the others her new look and Tania picked up a broom and began to sweep up the hair that now littered the floor.
As she did, she put her radio on and a few tunes filled the room, and she hummed along as she swept.
Yet her moment of peace didn't last long before a teenage lizard/turtle hybrid appeared in the entrance of her salon holding a pair of trousers with orange and red stripes.
"Tania?"
"Oh, hello Pandora!" Tania smiled "What can I do for you?"
Pandora stepped into the room and held up the trousers for Tania to see.
"Do you think you can fix my trousers? Please?" she asked, "I accidently ripped them when Sonia and I were sparring."
Tania took the trousers and analysed them then saw a tear on the left leg.
"Ah! I see, Sonia caught it with her sword?"
"Bingo!" the Hybrid replied, "I'm not hurt though, she only caught the fabric."
"That's good news!" Tania replied "Well don't you worry kiddo! I'll have your favourite trousers fixed in no time!"
"Thanks so much!" Pandora said gratefully as she followed Tania into the back room through the colourful beads and sat on a chair as the Panda looked for a needle and thread to fix Pandora's favourite trousers.
"I remember when I made these for you!" Tania smiled "You had asked for tiger styled trousers for your combat outfit!"
Pandora nodded.
"And you did the same with my vest top!"
She turned around and Tania chuckled and nodded in agreement as she saw the similar stripes on the back of Pandora's biker vest.
Pandora could remember very well when Tania made her clothes for her.
She had asked for some clothes to fit her style of Kung Fu fighting, mainly tiger style and her mother Monalisa decided to speak with Tania and the Panda was delighted to know that she was given a task to make her friend's daughter an outfit she could wear with pride and, when she had finished it, Pandora was a very happy girl!
Also, because Pandora had still been growing since then, Tania was more than happy to alter the clothes or make new ones so Pandora could still wear them.
As Tania began to sew the trousers, she looked at the Hybrid.
"So how is your training going Geisha?" she asked.
"Pretty good!" Pandora grinned "Although Grandpa, mum, dad and my uncles keep saying I'm not ready for the big stuff, so far I'm only allowed to confront petty crime, like the Purple Dragons back home."
"I see." Tania said not looking up from her sewing "But I'm sure you're happy enough to be out there and fighting?"
"Oh, sure as sugar m'am!" Pandora said, "And I can't wait to join Sonia on patrol to take down some petty crime with Jack!"
Tania chuckled.
"Oh, I bet you can't! You're such a dedicated student when it comes to your training!"
Pandora nodded.
"That's me!" she boasted as she stood up and pulled off a few moves.
"I'm gonna be the most fearsome, the deadliest, most competent fighter ever!" she kicked the air and slashed with her fingers.
"And one day!" she announced "I'll gonna steal Uncle Mike's title as Battle Nexus Champion!"
It was then Tania looked up at the Hybrid.
"Really?" she asked.
She was aware of Michelangelo's proudest moment, about being the Battle Nexus Champion.
In fact, the youngest of the Ninja turtles was so proud of it, he'd tell anyone who would listen, even though it had been years ago.
Kate of course was always willing to listen to his previous triumphs as she was proud of her boyfriend, yet she knew others would just roll their eyes and Raphael would just get annoyed.
Looking at the hybrid, Tania wondered that if Pandora was determined to steal her uncle's title that Raphael would support her all the way, that if he couldn't steal it, his daughter could.
"One day, I'll take part, and I'll win!" Pandora announced and she roared and slashed her hands down, growling as she did so.
Tania laughed then looked back at her sewing before making the final stitch.
"There we go! And done!" she announced holding up the trousers.
"Aww thanks Tania!" Pandora said as she looked at her fixed trousers "You're the best!" she leaned forward and gave the Panda a kiss on the cheek.
Tania blushed and smiled.
"Awww, thanks kid!" she said "By the way, I've almost got your outfit finished! Then you can wow everyone topside when you go with Sonia, Freya, Loki and Kemeko!"
"Aww sweet!" Pandora cheered, "Can't wait to see it! And thanks for fixing my trousers!"
She smiled at Tania then walked out of the room.
Tania watched her go then looked back at her work, she still had another hour until Louie finished making lunch for everyone and she would be called to the mess hall so she decided to continue on her projects.
So Tania has been hard at work making costumes for everyone in Mutopia for Halloween! As well as doing what she loves best in Mutopia!
Also Pandora seems keen to steal her Uncle Michelangelo's title as Battle Nexus Champion! I am planning to write a fic where she takes part, but when I'm not sure, but stay tuned! ;)
