A/N: so i accidentally posted the chapter 19 to my other story like an idiot. as it turned out i mislabeled the chapters and didn't bother to check if i posted the right one. I am incredibly not smart. anyways, here's the actual chapter 17:

Thump! A stack of money was slammed down on the kitchen table. "Alright you guys," Cynthia pulled a chair out from under the table and sat down. All of her Pokemon sat around her, all staring at what they all had worked for. "I think… we might be able to finally get out of this cramped apartment," the champion announced. All of her Pokemon, excluding Milotic and Spiritomb, raised their arms into the air. Despite the seemingly lack of excitement, both Pokemon were happy. Having to sit in the tiny, cheap, cramped hotel room for a month had been a nightmare.

It wasn't the fact that the hotel room wasn't nice, it really was nice for how cheap it was, but it still wasn't great. Milotic couldn't stretch like she'd want to in an open field or in the ocean. While the champion room, which she had to battle in most of her life, felt nice and spacious compared to the hotel room. As all of Cynthia's Pokemon could comfortably be out in it, run around, jump, anything that wasn't blowing a hole through the wall. Spiritomb was just happy because it wouldn't have to sit in the corner; Garchomp and Milotic took so much space, that it had to sit in the corner most of the time.

Glaceon jumped up onto his trainer's lap and yawned. "Hello Glaceon, how was your nap today?" Cynthia giggled as the Eeveelution rolled around to try and get comfy. "Glaceon!" He barked. Cynthia looked out the window, it was completely dark outside… well, as dark as it could get in New York City. "I assume you're happy to finally find some big field to run in?" The champion asked. Glaceon barked again; he had just gotten cozy. "Well, let's go to sleep. Tomorrow we'll start heading out," she said. The little cat began to protest as he was lifted up into the air, which really wasn't even protesting, he just whined until he found himself lying on the couch next to his trainer.

Lucario and Garchomp cuddled up together while Spiritomb closed the blinds and shut off the lights. Milotic simply laid where she had been for the last couple of days, her eyes were closed, and she went to sleep immediately. "Goodnight everyone, sleep tight, don't let the Joltik bite!" Cynthia giggled, pulled the Ice Type closer to her like a child would with a teddy bear, and closed her eyes.

"So guys," Garchomp interrupted the silence. "What do you want Garchomp?" Milotic asked. "I was just wondering… if we're not in Sinnoh anymore, and we're in another world like Mom says, then what about the rest of her Pokemon?" Milotic giggled. "You still call Cynthia 'Mom'," Milotic kept on giggling while the rest of Cynthia's team awed. "What? She raised all of us, it only makes sense that I call her that still," Garchomp hid his embarrassment as best as he could. "She didn't raise me," Spiritomb spoke. "Because you're a weirdo," Lucario said. "That's rude," both pokemon chuckled.

"Well… if the rest of our team, beyond us six, aren't with us… that could mean they're out in the world somewhere," Togekiss said. She then looked at her trainer and back at the rest of her team. "You think that's why she wants to get out of here? Other than Mom just wanting to explore this new region that is," Garchomp asked. "That's probably the main reason. We could very easily work for the rest of our lives and be just fine… but I wanna find the rest of our team," Glaceon said quietly; he didn't wanna wake up his trainer.

The cat's face was right up to his trainer's ear, which made putting his two cents in a bit difficult. He absolutely loved cuddling with Cynthia, the rest of his team, excluding Spiritomb, did. Their trainer knew this and often did so each night with one of them. He assumed tonight was his turn, but boy was it a setback for talking with the rest of his friends. "We could have Togekiss go out and look for them," Lucario suggested. "Heck no! You saw how people reacted to us when we first worked at the store?" Togekiss asked. "Yeah… we'd probably get shot if we were seen on our own," Garchomp said.

Cynthia stretched, which caused her Pokemon to panic; they thought their trainer was just woken up by their talking. "Guys…" their trainer yawned and pulled her Glaceon closer to her. "You can stay up, but don't make so much noise," she barely even had the energy to giggle. "Okay guys, close your eyes and sleep. Our trainer needs her rest," Spiritomb said. "But…" Garchomp stopped when the Spiritomb glared at him. "Go to sleep, don't say another word," it said. Milotic giggled. "You're serious about keeping it down for Cynthia, so you do love her," she said. "Of course I like her, I know you guys love her dearly, but it's time we hit the hay. Cynthia can't be smiling if she gets four hours of sleep. And I know how nice it is to see her smiling," The rest of her Pokemon couldn't disagree with that and collectively went to sleep.

"Hey Chris," Daniel nudged his friend, who had been knocked out for a day. It turned out that running for your life can leave a huge toll on the human body. "Yeah…?" Chris lifted his head off of Ninetales' side, who had offered to be used as a pillow for his trainer's roommate. "You're not dead, that's good," Daniel said. "And you opened your eyes, which is a good thing," he added. "Fuck off. You texting me is why I am like this," Chris mumbled. "That's a bit rude," Dan chuckled. "Oh please, you called me dumb in the sixth grade," his roommate said. "So you're bringing that up now? What's next? The part where I said you were fat in preschool?"

Chris sat up with a chuckle. "Yeah, that's why you called me fat…" he laughed as he had an idea. "You owe me a whole chocolate cake, like the size of the coffee table," he said. "Hey now, you're just proving my point; you're fat," Daniel said. "Hey now, my mommy knows best, she said 400lb is really underweight," he said. The two of them laughed. "Your mom was a whale?" Dan asked. The two regained their composure, Dan took a seat next to his buddy and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Seriously though, I didn't know I'd almost get you killed by texting you," he said.

"Meh whatever, just buy me a single slice of cake or something. I'll probably forget about that afterwards," he said. "Alright, bet. Next time we go to meijer I'll buy you a party sized bag of Reese's," Dan said. "Now you, my friend, you are speaking my language," he looked at Ninetales. "Can he even eat chocolate?" Chris asked. "I dunno, don't wanna risk it. Did you wanna give a piece to Ninetales when you get that bag?" Daniel asked. "Kinda, he just let me use him as a pillow for…" he paused. "You were out for a day and a half," Daniel said. "Yeah, I think he deserves something after putting up with my fatass for that long," Chris said.

Ninetales hopped over Chris and laid in Daniel's lap. "Wait Dan, where the hell did Vulpix run off to? I thought…" he paused as the little fox squeezed out from the couch cushion. "How in the hell did he even?" Daniel shrugged at his friend's confusion. "Most of Ninetales and Vulpix are pure fluff," he said. "Makes great for a pillow, that's what I'll tell you," Chris chuckled as his friend proceeded to rest his head on his Pokemon's back. "See? Pretty cozy right," Chris asked. "I've been knowing this. Used him as a pillow the night I met Ninetales," Dan hugged his fox as it yawned.

Pounding on the door made Chris get up off the couch and stumble towards the door. "Might be the boss, coming to fire me over eating a fry off the floor," Chris said. "Ew, what the fuck?" Daniel gawked at the thought while Ninetales laid down and pulled Vulpix closer to him. "Yo!" Chris opened the door, on the other side stood a police officer. "Do you know of a guy named Daniel Walter?" He asked. "Uh… Dan? Yeah, I'm his roommate. He's in the living room," Chris said. "May I come in then?" Chris nodded and let the officer into the apartment. "Did I break into a grocery store by accident at some point?" Dan asked.

"No, it's not that serious, well, it is. You very clearly own a Ninetales," the cop said. "I wouldn't put it that way, but yeah, I do have a Ninetales right here," Daniel said. "I believe you know about that farmer, who took a shot at a Ninetales, and now has horrible nightmare every nights," the cop continued. "I… I know you're not going to like this, but I'm going to have to confiscate your Ninetales," the officer said. "Wait, wait, wait," Daniel paused as his Ninetales slipped out of his arms. "I didn't have him attack anyone, nor did he attack anyone. He's been cuddling with me, eating food, or writing with his mouth to tell how he and Vulpix are doing," Daniel said. "I know, you're mad because you know your Pokemon hasn't done anything warranting this. Trust me, he isn't going to get put down, we'd just like to gather every Ninetales we can. We wanna know how they curse people, find a cure for it, and then every Ninetales we take in will be brought back home," the officer said.

"But… Ninetales said he doesn't know how to curse people. He wouldn't be very useful at letting you know how to inflict curses on people, let alone come up with a cure for them either," Daniel said. He looked at Ninetales. "No offense, you're the best Pokemon I could ask for. But it is true that you don't know how to curse me and I highly doubt you know how to rid people of said curses," he added. Ninetales licked his trainer's face before taking refuge behind Daniel's body. "Listen, it's not my choice, it's an order I have to follow," the cop said. "You can't search anybody's home without a warrant," Chris argued. The cop pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket; he had a warrant. He suddenly lost his patience and pushed Daniel aside. "I'm sorry man, but the government ordered this."

Both foxes were ripped away from their trainer and dragged out the door. Daniel screamed and started crying as his Pokemon were taken all the while. Chris just stared at their apartment's door wide open, he caught one last glimpse at Ninetales' long tails. He swore he coulda heard Ninetales and Vulpix barking and screaming as their hides skidded across the ground.
