As the first few weeks at Hogwarts pass, the novelty of being the new transfer student from Greece wore off slowly. The older students didn't know what to think of the shy Gryffindor that would talk to Lily, and would blush at what Sirius said to her. Settling into a routine as the days passed, many students asked her questions about the Institute that she used to go to. Dite was trying to not show all her cards to any one in the school. Transfiguration was one of the classes that she enjoyed to the extent that she would show what she knew in the subject. Turning a desk into a Donkey the first time gained her praise from Professor McGonagall which caused a funny scene with James and Sirius who are a couple of the best students in the class. They asked why they never received praise for completing a transfiguration the first time, McGonagall rebuffed them by saying hat their egos where large enough, any larger and they wouldn't fit through any of the arch ways of the school. That caused the class to laugh at the two Marauders. Dite would converse with Alice Greengrass who she knew in the future as Alice Longbottum, Neville's mum, even though the boy she knew looked very much live Frank Longbottum. Alice and Lily where her only two dorm mates in this time, very different from having Rimilda, Lavender, and Patile as dorm mates. Alice would tease Lily about James's affections while Lily pretended to gag when Alice brought up meeting Frank in the library to study. Walking down the corridors you could hear laughter like many students got along with other houses.
One the way to potions after transfiguration a few days into October, Dite found the Marauders having a confrontation with Severus Snape. It isn't something that wasn't an unusual site here at school. She just watched from her spot at the corner.
"I'm warning you Potter, stay away from Lily or you'll regret it." Snape sneered at James.
"I don't think you have the right to tell me who to stay away from Snivellius." James smirked.
Seeing that wands where about to be drawn, Dite chose that moment to interrupt.
"Me synchoreis." She said walking towards them.
Sirius turned towards her, smiling at her. Remus rolled his eyes at the other boy, sure Sirius had a thing for the pretty ones but this seems excessive since the day he laid eyes on the girl in the bookshop over the summer. Remus agreed that Dite was pretty, but he could tell she didn't like unwanted attention.
"Well if it isn't the goddess of love her self." Sirius wrapped an arm around her shoulders to keep her from backing away from him.
"I'm not a goddess." She stated shrugging his arm off her watching the situation.
"You should be heading to class Dite, this isn't something you should get involved in." James said not turning to look at her.
"So should you all." She spoke trying to not should like she was lecturing them.
"We will when we finish dealing with a snake." James sneered.
"I don't think dealing with Snape will win you points with Lily, James." Dite walked to stand between the boys.
"I don't need the help of a bastard born little mouse." Snape sneered at her.
Dite knew that Snape just made the situation 10 times worse then it was. Sighing she turned to look at him. Sure Snape thought everyone but Lily was below him, but then again he was practically in love with the red head.
"Your paraxena Snape, I was trying to help them, but assuming makes a gaidaros out of you and me." She gave him a small smile as she heard the others behind her.
" Take that back Snivellius!"
" Apologize now snake!"
The boys protesting her being called a bastard born was nearly as bad as being called a mudblood. As she starred at him she thought of a little transfiguration. She pictured his hair changing to snakes, the way the scales shined like his greasy hair. She cocked her head to the right as the boys who a moment ago where nearly ready to hex the Slytherin.
"You know Snape, you remind me of a creature that I've read about in a book at my old school." She said as he noticed the snakes in his hair.
"But to bad, all you have is snakes as hair and cant turn anyone to stone that meets your eye, pity." She smiled at him before asking if the marauders could show her the potions classroom, pretending to have forgotten where it was.
Dite had never planned to make fun of Snape, but he reminded her of the time his older self sneered at her when Draco hexed her teeth to grow abnormally large. Stating that he saw no difference in her appearance. Sure most of the time she stayed the wall flower that she chose to be in this time to avoid anything slipping from her about the future. In potions she joined Alice and Franks table. That day they where going to work on an OWLS potion that they took notes for last class period. Five minutes after class had started Snape walked into the room, causing an up roar of laughter at his snake hair. Professor Slughorn was outraged but the sight and demanded to know who it was that had curse the boy. She quietly raised her hand at the demand, causing Slughorn to gasp at her.
"Ms. Prewett why would you do such a thing?" He asked.
"Well Sir. He called me a horrible name and reminded me of the creature Medusa from the Greek myths I read about at my old school. I never meant for him to actually turn into a Medusa." She played the wide eye innocent girl that wouldn't get a detention from the silly Professor.
"I see, well 5 points from Gryffindor for transfiguring another students hair. Mr. Snape 5 points from Slytherin for being late. Please go see Madam Pumfry in the hospital to fix your hair." Slughorn said before turning back to the class as the boy left the room.
Un bounced to Dite, but Sirius leaned over to James and Remus while smirking at the Greek girl. He knew that under that shy outsterior was a witch that was formidable. He watched her in classes and noticed she held back so that she wouldn't be noticed and that she didn't like the attention she got when Headmaster Dumbledore announced her presence and sorting placement. She was friendly enough to the first and second years that needed help, but when someone asked her a specific question about why she transferred she would get shy and try to change the subject. But turning old Snivellus's hair to snakes was beautiful and her not getting a detention was even more amazing.
"James, Remus, I think I'm in love." He whispered not taking his eyes of her.
"Right, you're in love after she successfully pulled a prank on Snivellius." James rolled his eyes, noticing that Lily looked livid at the moment.
Lily probably didn't believe the confession of the girl who copped to the snake hair. She probably thinks Dite saw one of them do it and took the blame. Even though he was dreadfully in love with the fiery red head of Gryffindor, he'll admit that the girl was extremely stubborn.
"You fell for Lily with less." Sirius whispered back.
"Sirius, leave the poor girl alone, she is uncomfortable when you make those pretty bird comments to her. And her fathers had warned you about that too." Remus whispered remembering they day that they all met in Diagon where on of the twins warned him of the pretty bird comment.
"Aww but they are just kidding about that." Sirius smirked.
While they where whispering they didn't notice that Peter threw a firework in the cauldron of Goyle, one of the Slytherins that sat at the table next to theirs. Goyle was slow when it came to potions and always drove who ever was partnered up with him up the dungeon walls. Soon the cauldron exploded and the contents plastered the walls and some of the students. Professor Slughorn was in outrage and furiously trying to dispel the potion, sending those who where injured to the hospital. He wasn't too happy about a 5th year potion blowing up and when he inspected the contents; he found a firework in the bottom of the cauldron. He blew his lid, demanding that the students that where left in the room to bottle their potion and they would receive what ever grade they got for this practical class, along with an essay about the safety precautions that where ignored in the class any to why they are in place. The students groaned about another essay that was added to the stack of them they had been assigned that week.
"Dite, I know you didn't do that to Severus, I just don't know why you covered for the marauders." They heard Lily say as they walked to the tower.
"After they did that to Severus they set a fire work off in class. So why did you cover for those immature morons?" Lily asked hotly.
"Lily, I was telling the truth be had said something rude and mean to me." Dite spoke.
"I doubt that, Severus hasn't done anything to you, so why would he be mean to you?" Lily asked getting angry with the quiet girl.
James, Remus, Sirius and Peter looked at each other and walked faster to catch up to them. Knowing how Lily would blow if Dite continued to go against what Lily was saying. Sure the snake did insult Aphrodite by calling her a bastardy born. It was like calling the girl a mudblood, which was a slander towards anyone of Lily's heritage. Sirius slung his arms over both Alice and Dite complementing them on their looks. Causing both to redden in the cheeks at his comment.
"What do you want Black? You probably the one that hexed Severus for something childish as breathing." Lily sneered at him.
"No actually, it really was little Aphrodite here, a goddess after my own heart." He smiled.
"It's true my Flower-Lily, Sirius's Aphrodite had hexed Snape's hair." James spoke from behind the girls and Sirius.
"I'll believe that when Malfoy admits muggleborns aren't dirt below his feet." She glared at James.
"Lily, he brought up my bastardy heritage in front of them when I tried to help Snape." Dite spoke to the angry girl, drawing her attention from James to Dite.
"I don't think he would do that Aphrodite, he never brings up my muggle heritage so why would he bring up yours?" Lily asked.
The school had found out that Dite was born before her mother had married, and many whispered that she was a bastard child and just as bad as the muggle born in school. It reminded her of how Draco would send slanders at her in the hallways everyday. But here was a girl she thought was becoming a friend not believing her about another that slandered her earlier. Sure she knew from the stories that Lily could be hard head and couldn't see that Snape was a mean boy to everyone but her. Dite took and breath and turned to head the other direction before she said anything else or say something that might give away that she knew what happens later this year. She was dreading the day that Harry described would happen to change Snape's and Lily's friendship. Harry told her after she asked why he wasn't continuing his occlumency classes with Professor Snape.
Soon Lily's child hood friend would call her a mudblood in frustration and his bulling would get worse because he wouldn't have Lily there to defend him. Right now Lily won't believe anything that was said badly about Severus Snape. True Dite only knew Snape as he was as Professor Snape after the many years of bulling and then being on the side of the Dark Lord. She wanted to stop that from happening, but still help James and Lily see eye to eye, so that her best friend is born.
Still in her own mind she entered the Library and headed to the Restriction Section to see if there was a table there that she could use to work on her homework for her classes. She found a table at the very back of the Restriction Section and placed her bad there and took of her outer rode, draping it over her chair and set to gathering books to use as reference material for her work. Sitting down she began her work. She always seemed to lose track of time when she was working on her homework. Dite didn't realize that she missed dinner until she heard a knock on the bookcase that she faced. Looking up, she saw Remus standing there with a gentle smile on his face, like he knew where to find her.
"You missed dinner." He said quietly.
"I didn't realize I had." She said looking back at all the rolls of parchment on her table amongst the books she had piled up.
"Figured you haven't, want to go to the kitchens?" He asked when he heard her stomach growl, which caused her cheeks to turn pink.
"I've haven't been to the kitchens here yet." She said standing and putting her parchments in her bag.
As she finished, she flicked her wand at the books that started to reshelf themselves. Standing infront of Remus she quirked and eyebrow at his expression.
"Never figured out the spell to reshelf books? It's abit similar to the one at the Institute, less of a hard right flick here." She said.
"I see, I just never saw someone get it so quickly before." He looked down at her.
"Well you said something about the kitchen, well lead on maestro." She gestured for him to lead her out of the library.
"Alright, so you know you had Sirius worried when you didn't show up at dinner." Remus said making light conversation.
"I don't know why he would worry." She tilts her head to the right like she was thinking.
"He worries about those he sees as friends."
"I see, so he considers me a friend then, so why all the pretty bird pick up line or calling me his Aphrodite?" She asked tapping her nose.
"That's just Sirius, or how he is. The ladies man of Gryffindor." Remus chuckled.
Walking down the corridor their conversation was light and easy. Talking about her summer, how her Mana came to get her after she was finished with the school year. Learning how to navigate London. How Remus became friends with James, Sirius and Peter. That they had a similar taste in book when they read for leisure and not for class.
Soon the came up to a painting of a bowl of fruit, Remus looked around and then tickled the pear in the bowl. Stepping back, the wall opened up to a passageway. He motioned for her to fallow him, soon they where in the kitchen. She watched as the house elves of Hogwarts happily cleaned the kitchen.
"Misters Remus! Whats cans Mimsy dos furs yours?" An elf asked.
"This witch seemed to have missed dinner, cant have her go with out something to eat can I?" He gestured to Dite.
"Whoss this Missy?" The elf asked looking at Dite.
"Mimsy, this is Dite a quiet Gryffindor." He winked at the elf, causing the elf to giggle.
Soon Mimsy had them both at a small table that Remus explained was for any student that ventured here for a late night snack or because they missed dinner due to studying. Soon they had mugs of hot chocolate, a few sandwiches, and a three layer chocolate cake. That looked to have Remus salivating just by looking at it. Dite commented on how he looked to love chocolate, he admitted that it was a guilty pleasure of his. Soon after they each ate a sandwich, downed their hot chocolate, and a slice of cake. Dite asked if she could take a slice to Lily as a piece offering if the witch in question was still upset with her turning Snape's hair to snakes.
Remus walked her all the way to the tower and to the staircase that lead to the girl's dorms. Dite thanked him and bid him good night. Leaving a gentle smile on his face as he walked to his own dorm to brag that he was the one of the two that for Dite. For him that night ended on a high note.
Excuse me- Me synchoreis
