HoloJournal Entry/Caluus Zeinai/Entry 1

It was far from the most shocking day of my life when the Order came. I frequently talked with Master Windu about his suspicions surrounding Palpatine. He even told me that he was secretly analyzing Anakin's combat forms to look for "shatterpoints". He never explained this to me fully, but I guess they were simply weaknesses he could exploit. He explained that if it came down to him vs. Palpatine, Anakin might try to intervene. I didn't dare say what I really thought - this was idle speculation. But somewhere in my heart I knew he was right about Palpatine.

Palpatine, while looking like a simple senator, had something about him..well, I could describe it better as a "nothing". Looking back, I realize now how Palpatine was able to disguise himself - he "removed" or "masked" the Force around him, really too much in fact. The Masters had a dark joke about how "the first one to learn how to mask their presence like Palpatine gets their own nerf farm on Corellia" free of charge. We didn't know per se that Palpatine was force sensitive, we just thought he was removing his Force aura by a strong will, something that was backed up by his frequent Senate speeches. I think some of the Knights suspected it too - before he was promoted, I could feel in Obi-Wan some urge, some anger, to confront Palpatine, even though I'm not sure Obi-Wan felt it himself. When Anakin came to the Temple and told Windu he suspected Palpatine was the "dark lord", underneath all that serious exterior I felt Windu felt like outright laughing at Anakin.

I was in the Coruscant Senate building when I saw some Council members storming up to Palpatine's office with Windu. I asked Saesee Tiin if they needed any help, or what they were doing. He told me no. He was one of the first to die. I ran back to the Temple, feeling something was wrong (of course, I could not see Master Tiin's death through the ceiling). By the time I got to the temple (hours later, in fact, Coruscant is hardly a commuter city), I saw death everywhere. My friends were killed, younglings were on the floor, amputated and decapitated. I looked up to see Anakin, in a dark robe, stabbing a Jedi through the chest. That Jedi was my best friend, Tati. Tati looked at Anakin with pleading eyes before he died - I will never forget that look and I swore to that day I would never, ever, let Anakin run free for what he did.

At this point, I disregarded my Jedi teachings. This would be my undoing. I ran up to Anakin and threw my lightsaber at his back. He turned and used the Force to block it, sending it lifelessly to the floor. I guess he knew I was there all along. I pulled it back to myself and went into a blocking stance. He laughed, picked up my friend's dead body using the Force and threw it at me. I managed to cut Tati's body in half as I held my lightsaber in front of me. I leapt at him, swinging a fast arc of swings to my sides and middle. Windu had taught me Juyo and a bit of Vaapad, though he felt because of my history I didn't have the discipline to master it fully. He leaped and kicked me, in the air, to the side of the room, sending my lightsaber flying. By that time, I knew I was done for. Anakin was playing dirty. Anakin picked up my lightsaber, walked up to me, and held both lightsabers to my throat. He thought he could do what he did to Dooku. I had seen theholonet descriptions. But unlike Dooku, I still had my arms. I leaned back, and executed a handstand kick to his face. I evaluated my options: face Anakin and continue this silly Force hand to hand combat or cut my losses and run. So I ran. I ran hard and fast, jumped out the window of the lower level, and took a speeder. And the rest would be history..
