The Holiday break stated and ended as normal as it could be. Dite spent Christmas Day curled up into Gideon's side with a book she had received for Christmas. Fabian spent the morning debating with Arthur about some muggle trinket. Later the twins spoke their minds about Regulus Black who had started to court their daughter. Molly and Sophia rolled their eyes at the men's opinions, Dite continued with the book Lily had sent her. Sophia had agreed to allow Dite to spend New Years Eve with her friends at the Potter's New Year celebration that year that was before the strange, mysterious gift that she received, it wasn't from any of her friends. The gift landed her in St. Margo's after she touched it, it was cursed and she wasn't sure who had sent it. Fabian and Gideon while they waited for her to recover under the eyes of a Medi Witch, James, Remus, Sirius, Regulus and Peter had all showed up in her hospital room. Sophia had sent a letter to the Potters about Dite being stuck in St. Margo's for the New Year.
Later after she woke up Dite found out that Lord Potter had asked the boys if anyone at their school would want to send a cursed item to Ms. Prewett. The boys gave them the names of, Lucius Malfoy, Robert Avery and Severus Snape. Malfoy wasn't pleased that Regulus had began to drifted away from the idea of the Dark Lord like he was before the girl turned up. Dite had turned down Avery a few times for a snog, and once she threw her Pumpkin Juice in his face after he whispered something in her ear. Snape due to the fact that he was still there hatted enemy and they thought he would be in on it.
One Day as Dite was walking alone with Remus after their Arithmacy Class that they had with out the others. It was just turning to spring in Scotland and Lily came down sick that morning and Madam Pumfry had her in the Hospital wing. They where discussing the assignment they had received when they heard someone up ahead of them talking. Dite casted the notice-me-not and Disillusion charm on the both of them so that they wouldn't be noticed by who was speaking. Coming closer to the others that where a head of them, Remus and Dite found Malfoy pressing Peter up against the wall.
"You where supposed to be discreet with that package Pettigrew!" Malfoy sneered at him.
"I sent it like you told me to." Peter responded stuttering as he spoke.
"Not enough, She is still in the way you rat." Malfoy stepped back and let the other boy drop to the ground.
"She's my friend Malfoy." Peter said quietly.
"Your family is in debt to me and I honestly don't care what the little Prewett girl is to you. She is an obstacle in the way of the Dark Lord getting to the Black heirs." Malfoy straighten his cloak as he stared down at the boy.
"I don't want to do anything to her." Peter explained.
"Again I don't care, the next time I give you a job do it correctly." Malfoy sneered as he walked away from the out clove they where in.
Dite could feel the anger rolling off Remus as they stood there waiting to move. Remus's wolf had accepted Dite into his pack and now finding out that another member of the pack tried to hurt her on the orders of another. She too was shocked that Peter had sent her the cursed Item that caused her to nearly die on her birthday, but luckily, her parents where there to get her to the Hospital in time. She remembered the pain that coursed threw her body; it burned as if it was on fire. She placed a hand on the werewolves arm trying to calm the man down as they watched their friend walk away with his head down.
In her time it was never discovered why Peter had betrayed his friends or when it began. But with her being her, it changed the future enough that the betrayal had begun earlier. She wondered why Peter's family was indebted to the Malfoy family, was it money? The shop his family owned? Or something else all together? Once Remus was calmer the two had begun the rest of their walk to the tower to put their books away so they could go to the great hall to eat. But all that changed when the werewolf entered and saw Peter talking to James and Sirius as if nothing had happened, that Peter never sent the cursed item to Dite, that he wasn't under orders to keep the older Slytherin up to date on the Gryffindor girl.
Remus had dropped his bag and had Peter pressed up against the wall of the common room by the neck. Those students who where in the common room that where younger or not involved with the Marauders and Dite made themselves scarce. Remus was trying to control himself as he growled at the other boy. Once James and Sirius broke from their stupider, they where trying to pull the stronger boy off him.
"MOONY! What the hell Mate!" Sirius yelled as he was pushed away.
"Come on Remus let Peter go." James tried to reason with him.
"He did it! This rat is the reason Dite was in the Hospital! Why she was out of consciousness for a week!" Remus growled at them.
Dite had never seen Remus loose his control of his wolf in her past, right at that moment you could see the amber of his wolves eyes glow, his nostrils' flaring as he took the scents that where filling the room in, and his canines' where showing. It was a sight that she believed the boys haven't seen before, that it worried them as well.
"What do you mean Moony? How could Peter be the one to send the gift to Dite?" Sirius asked cousiosly.
"He did it on Malfoy's order!" Remus stared straight at Peter.
"I…I…Don't know what your saying Moony." Peter stuttered under the eyes of the werewolf.
"We heard you talking to Malfoy! Dite has done nothing to you! She has been your friend! Which one of us is next!" Remus yelled as the other two where able to pull him off Peter before he turned purple.
"Moony calm down, I've never seen you this pissed off." James tried to sound calm as he struggled to hold his friend back. Dite held her right arm to her side as she looked away from Peter when he turned his gaze to her, as if asking if what Remus spoke was true, that the two had heard him.
"I didn't mean for you to get hurt." Peter tried to apologize to the girl. He stood and tried to approach her, but Remus was in front of her, protecting her.
"Doesn't change that I spent my 17th birthday and the next 7 days in St. Margo's in a coma." Dite whispered from her hiding place behind Remus.
"I didn't know it would."
"Would try to kill her! She could have died Peter!" Remus's voice filled with sorrow as he began to gain control of his wolf.
Peter looked away in guilt, he may not have wanted to hurt her, or even send the gift. But it doesn't change that he did indeed send it to her. It was like her presence here was changing enough that you could see it. The Dark Lord and Malfoy wanted her out of the way to get to Sirius and Regulus, but that would probably cause them to sink their teeth in more. She had hardly begun to go after the Dark Lord and here she was already a target of his rage.
"Lets be reasonable here, what exactly happened?" James asked trying to get what really happened out into the open.
Remus explained that they happened upon Malfoy speaking harshly to Peter about the gift the later had sent Dite. That Peter's family was somehow indebted to the Malfoy's. Emotions had passed over Sirius's face; betrayal, anger, sadness and then his face became blank. James you could tell was having a hard time processing that one of his friends had hurt another. Remus was still beyond pissed but his wolf was back under control and leashed. James asked why Malfoy had Peter send the gift.
The group found out that Peter's father had barrowed an insane amount of money from Malfoy's father and when they asked for it back Mr. Pettigrew couldn't pay it back. Now anything that the family shop made would go to the Malfoy's and Peter had to do anything that the Malfoy Heir asked even if it meant to hurt his friends. Peter explained that his father had offered him up that passed summer as an errand boy of sorts. Malfoy wanted to have Regulus back under his control so that the Dark Lord could gain the support of the Black family, as they are a bit more influential then the Malfoy family. The more Dite herd the more she wanted to help. Sirius just sat there with his emotionless expression next to her. Remus had his arm over his eyes with his head leaning back on the sofa.
Soon students where returning to the common room, some still whispering about Remus's outburst and that he had Peter against the wall faster then James could catch the snitch. Dite heard Remus groan as the whispers reached his ears. She stood as Peter continued to explain and answer James's questions. She stood infront of the boy, sensing her there she noted that he barley moved his arm to pear from under said arm at her. Dite held her hand out to him.
"What to go to the kitchens Remy?" She asked quietly as they missed dinner.
She watched as his eyes looked over at James, who nodded at his friend at her request.
"Sure, Sirius want to come?" Remus took her hand and stood.
Sirius said nothing, but stood and wrapped an arm around the girl's shoulders. Before they left Peter called out to Dite.
"Will you forgive me Dite?" He asked sadly.
"Not right now Peter, with time possibly." She spoke, hearing Sirius snort and began to steer both her and Remus to the portrait whole.
Once they where on the way to the lower levels of the school, Sirius sent a Patronus to Regulus asking him to join them in the kitchens. Soon as they arrived Regulus probably could tell something had happened. Soon Regulus had heard everything that had happened and why. He was as emotionless as his brother was at the moment by the end. He even said he would speak to Malfoy; Dite took that, as he would threaten Malfoy. Sirius muttered about going to Lord Potter or Dite's fathers about this. Dite didn't know how she felt about it all, sure she wanted Malfoy to pay for trying to kill her, but she didn't want Peter to be punished because of the actions Malfoy and his own father placed upon him. Life was beginning to become tricky as she lived it out in this time. By the time her head had hit the pillow, she had not completed the homework she received that day, even though it was dew next week.
Once here eyes where closed, she was back at the roman pool, with the goddess she has seen before. This time though, there where blue wisps floating around. Like this time she may get a bit more information. The goddess looked over at her and gave a gentle smile.
"Back and some has changed." She spoke.
"Does this mean that I can live as I am now after I'm born as my old self?" Dite asked as she walked closer to the goddess.
"There is still many things to change before that time."
Dite groaned at the riddles that she always received when she had this dream.
"But the Moirai are pleased with the changes happening, even the wisps of ones fate are pleased."
Dite knew that many believed that the Moirai and Will-o'-the-wisp might be the same being. But the more that Dite read or what she could find, they where different entities all together. The Moirai where thought to see ones destiny and controlled the strings of life in the Greek lore and Mythology. Wisps where known for helping out travelers at night find their way. And just like the other dreams she had had of the pool, she was thrown back to the reality of her new life with more questions Groaning at the fact that she was awake and needed more sleep after the day before, she rolled over and drifted back to sleep, unbenounced to her the boys where having a very long discussion with Peter about trust, and distrust.
