There where many things in the Wizarding world that one shouldn't do but they do. One shouldn't use an unforgivable curse, but many do as a punishment as that was the way to teach passed down through the generations of ones family. The strange belief that muggles steel magic from a witch or wizard is a farce but many still believe that it was true. Witches should wait till they complete the bonding ceremony to indulge in intimacy, but there are still children conceived before the wedding. The list could go on an on for ever with the things one shouldn't do but they still do. Over the many generations wizards and witches learned to never piss of those of the House of Black, that would be disastrous for those that do. But you have those that think it's a game to try to make a Black snap.
Many old families called it the Black Curse when those born to the Noble House of Black finally snapped. The first Black to come to their Breaking Point was Ophiuchus Black, the man nearly wiped out a whole wizarding family when they accused his son of deflowering their daughter to force a marriage between the families. That was after years of the family trying to arrange the marriage before the accusation had come out in the open. Ophiuchus had the head of the house at the end of his wand when his wife calmed him down from killing off a family.
So when the young Malfoy heir decided to try to get Aphrodite Prewett killed because the bird seemed to be the light to Regulus Blacks darkness. Regulus had come to an understanding with Malfoy as the older boy happened to be completely in Love with his older cousin Narcissus Black or Cissy as her sisters and cousins called her. Stating that with Regulus's Uncle still the head of the family; Regulus could explain a few indiscretion's that Malfoy has happened to occurred might not be in the best interests of the Black family to have any ties to the House of Malfoy. That was how a Black protected those they consider theirs from those who mean harm. Now that Malfoy was no longer at Hogwarts and Regulus had delivered his answer about meeting or joining the so called Dark Lord to the Malfoy Heir, he thought that he and Ms. Prewett would be left alone.
Even though it wasn't more then 2 years ago that Regulus would have joined the Dark Lord and those that fallowed him. But that was before he noticed the Prewett Heiress who seemed to have befriended his older brother. He first saw her while shopping for his school things and other odds and ends. He watched as she spoke to many of the shop keeps when she checked out. When they got to school he witnessed the Greek girl help out little Primrose Parkinson who was knocked down by a Hufflepuff hurrying through the hallways not realizing that he knocked someone over. He began noticing things when she was around, like how when Sirius would call her Aphrodite instead of Dite as she had asked, she would shyly roll her eyes at him. Or how while in the Library reading, she would mutter in Greek about things on her mind. There where many things that Regulus noticed about her before she turned his brothers nose into a pig snout over being the right pig he was assuming that no women would ever turn him down or not fall for his charms. That was the day that Regulus took joy in anything that a witch had ever done. He was rarely impressed by a witch, especially those who where "friends" with his brother. But the Greek witch had surprised him when his brother kept becoming more and more pig like during the day.
So here he was waiting for the Avery heir to come back to the Slytherin common room for a discussion that might end with a few threats of his own to the Avery heir. When he woke to finding a note sent to him from his brother stating that Avery had threatened Dite and those close to her if she continued to "court" Regulus. Regulus was not the Black to piss off of cause to snap. Sure Sirius was quick to anger, but Regulus was patient and calm compared to Sirius who was ruled by his emotions. Many in the family have complimented and warned Regulus that he was very similar to Ophiuchus in his mannerisms and demeanor. Regulus knew that Ophiuchus Black was the third son of Lord Hydrus Black, who lived up to the Hydra persona. Lord Hydrus was one that could charm those around him as if he was a snake charmer, he could be calm and quiet as he strategized the out comes, and then he could be mad as his cousin Bellatrix. Many said that Hydru's first born was as mad as he could be, with a ruthless blood thirsty side and a knack for the darkest of dark arts. His second child was a charmer, quite like those of the Malfoy family, a charming coward. Ophiuchus was the quiet, patient child, much like Regulus was. Sirius lived up to those who had also been named Sirius in the family, reckless, quit to a fight, and rebellious. Uncle Alphrad had always commented that Orion should have known what came with those named Sirius in the family.
So lounging in the Slytherin common room infront of the enchanted fire place, that tinted the room in a light green light. The green glow that came in from the black lake when the sun shined through the surface of the lake. From time to time Regulus had seen the Giant Squid that he had heard Lily Evens yell that she would rather date then Potter. Those who aren't sorted into his house miss out on the wonders of the Kelpies, mermaids, and other creatures that called the Black Lake of Hogwarts home. As he laid his head on the back of the leather sofa, he could feel how chilled the leather was on the back of his neck. The common room was his home, and those in his house respect him for his name and how he remains calm when someone tries to over throw him in the house.
Slytherin house is much like an anarchy, Malfoy was known as the King of Slytherin due to his charming tongue even though he was a coward. Regulus was the Prince of the house until Malfoy left at the end of the year before. So now Regulus was leading the house or the anarchy of Slytherin. He has been questioned much since he began to show interest in the Prewett Heiress. Many doubted his loyalty to Slytherin, others like Malfoy and Avery didn't take the interest/fascination of the Prewett girl. But Regulus showed that even though he was interested in the Gryffindor Goddess as many called her, he still believed in most of the teachings he had while growing up.
"Black there you are." Avery's voice called out to him from the entry tunnel of their house.
"Yes, Avery, I've been here like always." Regulus drawled as he opened his eyes.
"Here I thought you would be with that Greek bitch bastard your so fascinated with." Avery laughed.
"No I wasn't with Lady Prewett, you would be wise to watch what you say about her in my presence." Regulus stood from the sofa hands in his pockets glaring at Avery.
"The bit is below you Black, we both know that. I don't see what you expect from her. Sure she's has a nice rack and a lovely bum, but she isn't what I would call Black family material." Avery shrugged as he smirked at Regulus.
"And who you would know what is as you say is "Black Family Material" Regulus raised his eye brow as he walked calmly towards Avery not to make any sudden movement to warn the other male.
"Sure Ava Nott or Celica Rossier in your year. They where raised to fit into any family of our statues." Avery laughed as though his answer should have been known.
Soon Avery found himself against the cool wall of the common room, at the end of Regulus's wand. Regulus was threw with word play with the other teen. He was controlling his emotions at how Avery disregarded the girl as if she was nothing.
"What are you playing at Black?" Avery hissed angrily at Regulus.
"I want you to forget you petty threat you issued to the Lovely Aphrodite about my courting of her. She is not to be touched or her friends. If I ever find out you caused her any distress, or touched a bloody hair on her head, I will show you why many call it the Black family Course when you anger a member of the House of Black." Regulus seethed.
Regulus could see a slight flicker of fear in Avery's eyes before it changed to anger as he continued to hold the latter at wand point.
"What could you do to me if I do?" He sneered.
"I happen to have found the Grimwalded that belonged to Hydrus Black who created and experimented with the darkest of Dark Magic. I wonder what would happen if I tried any of the spells that are in that book on you Avery? Venture to guess?" Regulus raised and eye brow before letting the other boy drop to the ground.
"Your insane." Avery hissed looking up at how calm Regulus was standing over the him.
"I maybe, but Prewett keeps that side from becoming a naissance. So unless you want to see just how insane I am, LEAVE . HER. AND. HER. FRIENDS. ALONE." Regulus spoke slowly at the end to get his point across before turning any walking down the tunnel to the entrance of the House of Slytherin.
Regulus walked down the corridor not knowing where his thoughts where taking him. Soon someone joined him, matching his passé. Looking to the corner of his eye, he saw Sirius nonchalantly, walking next to him as if his older brother was waiting for him to conclude his discussion with Avery.
"So is he going to continue to harass Aphrodite?" Sirius asked after a few minutes as if he was waiting for Regulus to calm back down.
"I explained that it was in his best self interest to not touch Di or her friends unless he would like to see how crazy the Black family could be." Regulus spoke with out looking at his brother.
"I see, well Aphrodite is in the hospital after going to see the headmaster." Sirius shrugged as if it wasn't an issue.
"Why is she there?" Regulus asked as he clenched his fists in the pockets of his trousers hiding that he was angry at her being in the hospital.
"The old man forced his way into her mind after she told him off. Only you would choose a bird that isn't scared to tell off one of the most powerful wizards in our community." Sirius chuckled.
Taking in the tid bit of the Headmaster forcing his way into an Oracle's mind, Regulus felt his anger rear its head again at this. Regulus and Sirius both have had their minds forced into when they where children, their mother liked to use that as a teaching lesson or when they would hide something from her. But Regulus knew that Dite was giving Dumbledore information from her dreams to help with the war that was waging outside the wall of the school. But if he tried to force his way into her mind, did the fool believe that she was keeping something from him? Over the summer she had told him that Dumbledore had repeatedly suggested she go into hiding in case the Dark Lord found out about her. Dite's Mother, a women that was just as feared by the close circle of friends as Regulus's own mother and Mrs. Potter was. Mrs. Prewett never agreed to the suggestion at all, and fought the elder wizard on the thought at every turn. Dumbledore was either very brave to try to infiltrate the mind of Mrs. Prewett's daughter or very stupid risking the wrath of that women. After reading a book that Di had on Greek Creatures he agreed that Mrs. Prewett was compared to a Scylla when it came to keeping her daughter and her friends safe.
"Is she alright?" Regulus asked as they continued to walk in the direction now of the hospital.
"She has a splitting headache and was trying to not let it show. But Remus is very intuitive to those around him and its more so at the moment. So he forced her to go to the Hospital this morning." Sirius raised and eye brow at his brother.
When they reached the Hospital and pushed the doors opened and Regulus set eyes on the girl that he and his brother where discussing while they walked the castle. The girl turned to them and gave a weak smile. Even a weak smile helped calm his anger down enough that Regulus wasn't struggling to control it. Now he had to keep it in check as he and their friends hear why the old fool tried to reach into her mind.
