Hello, this is a rewrite of a fanfiction I made last year. The story sucked and I only got past the first chapter, so instead of continuing that story I thought that it would be a better idea to start over, 'cause I feel like I have become a much better writer now. Feedback is appreciated!

Also, this is more inspired by the anime than the games. So for example: Eevee won't need a TR to learn Shadow Ball and Pikachu won't need a TM to learn Electro Ball.

For you who didn't read the last story: The main character, Ellen, has blonde hair reaching her shoulders and darkblue eyes.

"Happy birthday to you..." That was the first thing I heard when I woke up, that annoying song with my family's great talent of singing like dying Totodile's did not mix well. I waited for the song to finish before I gave any other sign of being awake. "Ellen" My mom said, "Have you forgotten what day it is today?" What day it is? ...

Then, suddenly, I got out of bed faster than I've ever done. Today is my 10th birthday, that means...! "I'll become a Pokémon trainer today!" "Now now, calm down, no need to rush!" Mom handed me a pink box with a blue ribbon on top of it, I sat down as I opened it. In it were... "Clothes?" "Don't say you're traveling through Kalos in your Pyjamas!" My dad said, clearly trying to be funny (but failing miserably), I looked down at the box with my clothes. Dark bluegray pants with a pink T-shirt and purple blouse, next to them was a fawncolored hat with a black ribbon around it.

"Try them on!" Mom told me, I nodded and rushed of into the bathroom to put them, there's no way I'm changing in front of my family! After I changed my clothes, I looked in the mirror to see how I looked. Wow, these clothes are comfortable AND they look on me, mom knows what I like! Now I'm even more excited to start exploring the world with Fennekin! It had been hard for me to choose what starter I wanted to have, but yesterday I made up my mind, Fennekin would be my first Pokémon. I went back to my room, still wearing my new clothes. "Did you like them?" Dad asked, I shook my head and responded, "No, I LOVE them!"

"That's great, I knew you'd like them." Mom said, smiling at me. "Well, anyway, I think it's time for me to go to Professor Sycamore and get my-" "Ellen, wait, before you go..." My little sister, Amelia, said and pointed finger towards my bed. "T-there one more gift for you" From under the bed, two large ears popped out and before I knew it, there was a Pokémon sitting in front of me. That's an!-

"This is Eevee." Dad explained, "She will be your first Pokémon, so take good care of her." An Eevee..

"But wouldn't that make things weird since I will be getting my first Pokémon from Professor Sycamore?" I asked while hugging Eevee. "We've already talked with him, you will be getting your Pokèdex and Pokèballs from him, good luck on your journey."

"Goodbye, I promise to take good care of Eevee, and I promise to win the Kalos League!" My mom gave me my new bag "You'll have everything you need in here." "Thanks!" I said as I ran down the stairs, Eevee running after. "Bye, Ellen!" Amelia shouted from upstairs, "Bye, Amelia!" I responded before closing the door to my home, the first thing I was met with when I got outside was the busy streets of Lumiose City. Well it is Monday, so it's not weird to have this much traffic, or well, there's much traffic here almost everyday... whatever, that doesn't matter!

"To Sycamore's lab!" I smiled to Eevee who had jumped up on my shoulder while I had been lost in thought. I had never been to the lab before, but I knew Lumiose City well enough to know where it was located, as I have passed it many times during walks and driving past it by car. I saw many people look at me while I was running past them, I can't really blame them, I would do the same if a random 10-year old was running on a sidewalk where everyone else (the sane people) were walking like a normal person. But at the moment I didn't think about it, not when my journey was so close to officially starting! After running for 15 minutes (with some small breaks to breathe) I had finally arrived at the lab.

"Here we are, Eevee." I told her. "Evui!" Eevee looked at the lab in front of us with starry eyes, I was just as exited. but after running for so long it was quite easy to stay calm and walk in instead of running in like a 5-year old. Now, inside the lab, I was ready to start my journey, there was just one small problem... Where is Professor Sycamore? "Hello? Professor Sycamore?" Right after caling out his name I heard faint footsteps down the corridor to my right, with every second they grew louder, and out of the shadows came... Professor Sycamore. What were you expecting?

"Hello, did you need anything?" He asked. We've never met, he probably doesn't know who I am. "Oh, you have an Eevee? Then you must be that trainer that would come today... Sorry, what's your name?" "I'm Ellen" I answered, "I came here to get pokéballs and a Pokédex." "Yes, of course. I'll be right back." Sycamore went down the corridor he came from, a minute later, he was back. "Here you go." He handed me some Pokéballs, "You use these to catch Pokémon, weaken them and then throw this." Then he handed me a small red device, which must be my Pokédex. "Use this to learn more about the Pokémon you meet on your journey." "Thanks" I said, smiling. "I know, why don't you try it on Eevee?" Sycamore suggested, "direct it towards Eevee, and it should work." I did what he told me to, I faced Eevee and scanned her with my new Pokédex.

"Eevee, the Evolution Pokémon. Thanks to its unstable genetic make-up, this special Pokémon conceals many different possible evolutions."

"W-wow" I stammered, "Thank you so much, professor, this will really help me! Thank you thank you thank you thank you THANK YOUUUU!" I'm pretty sure my loud voice at the end was my energy coming back after that run. "I'm glad to hear you like it." He responded, "One thing before you go, it's quite important for you to know this." "Yes?" "If you catch a Pokèmon with already with 6 on hand, the one you caught will end up at my lab." I actually didn't know that, that'll save me from confusion in the future. "Thanks for the info, bye, professor!" "Goodbye, and good luck on your journey!" After that, the door closed behind me.

"Eevee, aren't you exited? Our journey has officially begun!" Eevee, who was still on my shoulder, nodded, "Evai!" Ok, I'm ready to begin my- Eevee must've noticed my sudden change in movement, she looked at me with a questioning look. "Oh no, don't worry Eevee. I just forgot that I promised to call a friend once I got my first Pokèmon, let's go home again!" Eevee gave me a look that screamed "Follow me." She jumped down from my shoulder and went up to a map close by, she pointed to a red dot on the map, The Pokèmon center? "You're saying that the Pokémon Center is closer?" Eevee nodded and used her paw to point to the direction were it was located, "evui evai vai!" Eevee jumped up on my shoulder and basically ordered me to go that direction. "Ok ok! Eevee, our next destination... is the Pokémon center!"

0000

"You got an Eevee!? Wow, you really ARE lucky!" The person on the screen in front of me said, he's my friend and is also supposed to get his Pokémon today. "I know, right?! By the way, Nick, have you gotten your starter yet?" Nick nodded and held up a Pokeball, "Got it one hour ago, its right in here." And I know exactly who it is "Let me guess, you chose Froakie?" I said, rolling my eyes. "Yes I did, but I guess it was kind of obvious." We both chuckled a bit before Nick continued the conversation, "Well, where do you plan to go?" "Huh, what do you mean?" He facepalmed and looked up at me again, "You're participating in the Kalos league, right? Where do you plan to get your first badge?" I stiffened a bit, "Honestly, I haven't thought about that, it never crossed my mind." I put my left hand against my cheek and thought for a moment, "Don't we have a gym here in Lumiose City? YES, I can get my first badge today, already!"

Nick shook his head, "Sorry, I don't think that'd work." "Huh, what? Why?" Eevee was looking at the other Pokémon in the Pokémon Center, not paying attention to our conversation. "Well, you can't really win a Gym Battle with no experience at all, and I've heard some rumors about it... I'm honestly suprised you haven't." So am I... "Ok sooo, what are these rumors you've heard?" I asked, Nick put his face closer to the screen, as if he didn't want anyone to hear, even though he was in his own home. "I've heard that the Gym Leader is a robot and that they kick you out if you only have 3 badges or less!" "You're joking, aren't you? Besides, it's just rumors, it's nothing to worry about, right?" I said, a little louder than I intended. "Just trust me, Ellen, going there is not a good idea, it can be dangerous! And also, I've heard that the gym leader is very strong, you can't beat them, especially since you just became a trainer around 30 minutes ago!" Eevee must've wondered what Nick and I were talking about, as I felt a weight on my left shoulder. "So if what you're saying is true, I need 4 Gym badges to challenge the Lumiose City Gym?" Nick nodded, he crossed his arms and honestly, I've never seen him so serious, he is not a serious person, nor am I, but this was completely different. I could tell he was telling the truth, but the whole thing sounded too crazy to be true. "Okay, I won't challenge the Lumiose Gym... yet. But then I really don't know where I should get my first badge..." Nick relaxed a little, but he still looked serious. "This is probably the smartest thing you've done since you made us fall into that hole 2 years ago." And Nick's back to his old self. I chuckled at that comment, and my face turned red from embarrasment, I could not forget that even if I wanted to, since Nick always talks about it. "Yea... I was stupid" "And you still are." Normally I would be upset if someone said that to me, but I had gotten used to it and knew Nick wasn't being serious.

"Thanks... Anyway, back to the topic, if I can't challenge the Lumiose gym, where am I supposed to start?" Nick took out a small map from his pocket and looked around a bit, "I think Santalune City could be a good place for you to start, many beginners go there, I've heard." Santalune City... I have been there a few times, but I didn't know they had a Gym. The city is also located very close to Lumiose, it would be a good place to start... "Yeah, sounds good. Are you also going there? Then we could travel together!" Nick shook his head, "That would be fun, but I'm actually going to Cyllage City first." "Cyllage city? But isn't that located near the edge of Kalos? Why are you going there first?" I asked. "Unlike you, Ellen, I know what I'm doing." He replied. "H-hey!" I shouted at him. Nick put his right hand behind his head and laughed, loudly. "Bye!" Before I knew it, the screen went black, he hung up! "Evai!" Eevee giggled, covering her mouth with her paw. "Sh-shut up, Eevee!" I said sharply, though that only made Eevee giggle more.

I took a deep breath, and then ran out of the Pokémon center. Eevee almost fell of my shoulder but managed to cling on, now when most people had gone to work there were noticably less cars than when I left my home, there were also some busses going here and there. I turned to Eevee, and gave a confident smile, "If Nick is going to act like he is the best, then we'll just have to prove he's wrong! Right Eevee!?" Eevee was still a little shocked from what just happened, but after a few seconds nodded, "Evui Evaibai!" She jumped off my shoulder and together we ran towards our next goal, "Santalune City, here we come!"

To be continued...
