As she sat at the table she watched as the faces around her looked grim. The order was meeting after an attack on a muggle families house that the Dark Mark appeared over. The knowledge of a few nights ago fresh in her mind. Knowing that your childhood friend had indeed joined a mad man hell bent on turning the world upside down. Realizing that the mad man was just as normal as anyone else, not omnipotent or godly.
She looked over at Dite and Reggi as they sat across from her. Reggi, an arm laid over the back of her chair as she leaned on him. Looking as though she didn't sleep. It was possible that the Fates kept her from sleeping peacefully as well as it being the full moon the night before. Remus and Sirius sitting next to Regulus. Remus looking sickly as he does after the moon, but he was nursing a large mug of hot chocolate. Sirius speaking to Frank who sat on the other side of Alice.
Lily was aware that Dite knew things that she shouldn't know, but knowing that Severus would eventually give a prophecy to the Dark Lord that would lead to a hunt for James, her child and herself was frightening. James told her that Dite didn't tell them to cause them to hate Severus. But to show that she trusts them with her dreams. Lily always knew that Dite was keeping her dreams from them in fear that they wouldn't believe them.
"Still waiting for Dumbledore huh?" Moody asked as he walked in with Shacklebolt and the Prewett twins.
"He has yet to show, which is discerning." Sophi sighed.
Over the last few years Lily knew that the Prewett family didn't like that Dumbledore continuously placed their daughter in harms way, trying to control who had access to her, and discrediting Regulus Black. Lily did not agree with the old Headmaster that she trusted enough to join his Order of the Phoenix. But the man was not forth coming with his own plans, which nearly got Dite's parents killed when they where out one night a few weeks ago. Lily suspected that the old Headmaster was trying to get to Dite with out anyone knowing.
This was confirmed after Dite gave Severus the information on his path he was taking. Knowing that she would die before she reached the age of 25. Her child ending up in the home of her sister that hates magic more then anything. Severus dead by the age of 38. Neither got to honestly live, her dying as her family began. He dying because he made a vow to Dumbledore, whom used it to his advantage.
Severus agreeing to watching his son even though he hated the boy because of what James had done in school. But also putting himself infront of a werewolf to protect three student. The list goes on and on of what Severus had done that the Fates wanted to change. At the end of the night Dite told him that the Fates wanted to give him a different path to fallow. One that would show him what it was like to live free of a mad man, free of following a vow that another used continuously.
"Lily are you alright?" Dite asked bringing Lily out of her thoughts.
"Yes, just lost in my thoughts. Are you alright Di?" She asked realizing that she must have been in her head quite a bit since that night.
"I'm fine, just tired." Dite gave her a small smile.
Soon Dumbledore came in, not caring that he was late, or that they all have been waiting for him. He looked as though he was pleased that they where all there. Moody began to go over the report from the attack on the muggle home. Three children where killed quickly, but their parents where tortured till they begged for death according to the seen at the house.
Lily looked at Alice, Dite, Mary, Doreen and the other ladies at the table. They all looked as ill as she felt knowing that children under the age of 5 year killed out right because they where muggle. That was until Dumbledore told them that one of the children was experiencing bursts of accidental magic. That means the Dark Lord had a way of tracking those who have bursts of accidental magic.
"He has someone who works with the Obliviators at the Ministry. Obliviators are those who obliviate muggles after experiencing accidental magic as a way to protect the statue of secrecy." Dite spoke up.
"That's a strong accusation there Miss. Prewett. One must be sure before any action can be taken." Dumbledore spoke calmly.
"Unless they some how got hold of the book of admissions that contain all the future student that will be owled to attend Hogwarts. That is the only other explanation." Dite raised an eye brow at the Headmaster silently accusing him of possibly giving one access to the book of admissions.
"Now Miss. Prewett, one must not dwell on spiteful accusations."
To Lily, it seemed that the Headmaster was trying to get Di to quit speaking her thoughts. But Dite didn't look to be agreeing. Many at the table agreed with her on the possibility that this attack had some sort of inside job.
"Professor, you need to realize that he had people in the ministry that you in your infinite wisdom do not know is there. He has those who are sympathetic even if they don't join. You just want to hold all the pieces and give half truths." Dite sneered.
"How would you know that Miss. Prewett."
It was a stare down between Dumbledore and Dite. Neither wanted to back down in their opinions. Lily knew that Dite had the right opinion on this. Not many where allowed into the Obliviators archives that where held in the Ministry. Dumbledore knew that the kept records there about accidental bursts of magic that is witnessed by multiple muggles.
"Albus, the young lady is right and you know it." Alphrad spoke drawing everyone's attention from Dite to the head of the Black family.
"The archives that are kept record when a burst of accidental magic is witness by the many and they have to obliviate more then a couple muggles." Alphrad continued.
"I understand that Lord Black, but the man in charge of that department would never allow someone not in the department see those reports." Dumbledore countered.
"There are ways around that Albus. The Imperius curse, Suadeant Potenia potion, blackmail, and many other ways to gain access to those archives. My soon to be grand-niece-in-law is correct and everyone know it. So stop this contradiction you are doing when it comes to her opinions." Alphrad sat back in his chair crossing his arms waiting to be rebuffed.
"Lord Black is correct Albus." Lord Potter agreed and many others began to agree.
Soon they had a plan to monitor those who worked in the department of Obliviation to see who could possibly be the informer. They also agreed to patrol muggle area to possible catch those that seem to be the one attacking muggle families. At the end Dite caught Dumbledore talking to Lord Potter that he was going to be interviewing a new Professor for Divination. With out thinking she walked up to Dumbledore.
"Do not interview her in Hogsmead, do so in your office." Lily heard Dite tell the Professor.
Lily watched Dumbledore wave her off and said that it wasn't her business or place to say anything. The way he dismissed Dite rubbed Lily the wrong way. It seemed that Dumbledore wasn't happy about how tonight turned out. Lily decided that she would keep an eye on how the Headmaster acted at the next few meeting.
