AN::twitch: Strange thoughts come to one's mind when one is half asleep…
Summary: Dark and Krad think about Fate and their relationship with each other. (slight DarkxKrad)

Violet eyes looked down at the unusually submissive blonde angel lying in his arms. Golden eyes, bright, yet soft, and half hidden by dropping eyelids stared at the thief sitting on top of him, its expression devoid of the normal anger and hate. The being known as Krad looked tranquil—not happy nor sad, but simply at peace with himself.
Tanned hands traced every contour of the body beneath him, its owner's face unusually pensive.
"It would be so easy to break him now." Dark mused, stroking a pale cheek. "So easy to kill him…get rid of my greatest enemy…And he wouldn't even resist…"
But Dark made no such move. He continued stroking the fine, silky strands of spun gold, smiling slightly at the soft purr elicited from Krad.
"What troubles your thoughts?" Krad asked softly, tangling his pale hands into the soft, soft strands of violet hair.
Those same soft hands gently running through Dark's hair could kill. Dark didn't forget that fact. He couldn't forget it. But he let Krad play with his hair anyway.
"Nothing. You. Me." Dark responded.
Krad smiled, unlike his usual predatory smile. This one was soft…gentle…nice…Like the pale moon shyly peeking out from behind clouds. Dark wanted to see it again.
"What about us?" Krad murmured, hugging the thief close to him.
"Why are we enemies? Why can't we stop fighting?" Dark replied. Those weren't the thoughts floating in his mind, but he didn't want to accidentally make Krad upset with his musings. Not tonight. Not when they were so at peace with each other, even if it was only for a moment.
Dark watched as emotions flitted over his other's face…sorrow, regret, wistfulness…
"It is because we were born into these roles." Krad responded quietly. "We are pawns of fate, forced to go against each other in a grotesque dance of death. And we cannot break free…or maybe we will not."
"We were once together." Dark commented. "We were once one being, two halves of the same soul…But then we were forced to split into two halves and live in two opposing families."
"Did we begin hating each other ourselves?" Krad wondered. "Or was that yet another thing orchestrated by Fate? Do we control our actions or does a higher being?"
Dark looked into that tired, jaded face. Dark cupped his hand around Krad's cheek, gently kissing the faux angel.
"This emotion that festers within our bodies…Perhaps it is hate…but perhaps it is love." Dark murmured. "After all, the two are intertwined, connected…We cannot love without having hated…Or perhaps we cannot hate without having loved."
"Those are strong words." Krad remarked. "Do you regret saying them?"
Dark looked into those feline-shaped golden eyes. "No." Dark responded truthfully. "I don't regret those words. Do you regret hearing them?"
Krad shook his head slightly. "Of course not." A pale hand rested on Dark's cheek. "Never. Never ever."
Dark smiled and leaned down for another kiss. Krad moaned softly, clutching Dark's body like a lifeline. They pressed their bodies tightly together, whispering soft nonsensical words into each other's ears as they kissed every inch of exposed skin before their eyes. It calmed them both, and made them forget.
Made them forget for a moment that they were merely pawns in a cruel game Fate plays.
AN: Yeah…like I said, strange thoughts. I hope you enjoyed it at least some what XD
