Jessie traveled through a dense forest that became foggy the farther and longer she walked through the woods leading to New Bark Town. She looked at the map in her bag to see that she was still going the right way.
'Alright, it looks like this is the right way to New Bark Town.' She thought, studying her map before putting it away back in her back.
She continued making her way to New Bark Town while keeping her eyes out for any Pokemon she might be interested in catching.
"This forest is so dense and foggy. I just I get out of here soon," Jessie sighed, looking around carefully so she didn't trip or fall while walking. "I don't want to get hurt while making my way through this fog," She said as she continued to be extra careful as she walk down what seemed to lead down a hill past a stream of water.
Jessie let out a sigh of relief as she finally got out of the foggy forest and spotted a sign that said New Bark Town, the town of new beginnings.
"So New Bark town just this way," She said, reading the sign."Shelly, come on out," She said, grabbing her Squirtle Pokeball from her skirt pocket and sending it out Shelly.
"Squirtle?" Shelly cried out, looking up at her new trainer [What going on, Master?]
"Hey, Shelly, this is New Bark, where we will be registering for the Pokemon league. Start today are the journey truly begins," She said, picking up Shelly and holding her in her arms.
"Squirtle, Squrit," Shelly said. [Sounds lovely; I can't wait.]
"Well then, let's get going," She said, taking off towards the Pokemon Center to register for the Pokemon center.
After a 20-minute walk, Jessie and Shelly arrived at the Pokemon Center. Jessie walked over to the counter to talk to Nurse Joy about registering to enter the Johto league
"Hello, Nurse Joy?" She asked, noticing that nobody was behind the counter.
"Chansey," Chansey cried out as she appeared from behind the counter.
"Ah Chansey, where Nurse Joy?" Jessie asked.
"Chansey," Chansey said, pressing an orange button and making a small T.V screen appear.
"Welcome all trainers. I'm Nurse Joy," She said.
"Huh?" Jessie questioned, looking at the screen.
"I'm over at the Elm Laboratory right now, and I'm sorry I'm not here to help you, but I'll be back at the Pokemon Center no later them two o'clock this afternoon," She said as the screen with black and disappeared again.
"Looks like we have to wait," Jessie said, looking over at the clock."It's only twelve-thirty in the afternoon," She said, walking as she walked over to the seats to wait.
"Might as well sit down and wait, I guess, Shelly," She said, sitting down.
Meanwhile, Ash, Misty, Pikachu, and Brock are seen walking through the foggy forest toward New Bark Town for Ash to register for the Johto League.
"Pika, pi, Pika," Pikachu cried out, pointing up ahead. [Hey Ash, that tree looks familiar.]
"What, Pikachu?" Ash asked."Yeah, that branch looks familiar."
"Ash...you mean..." Misty started."O-oh no, we've been walking around in circles all day!" She shouted, getting on the grounds on her knees."You said you knew where you were going, and we're totally lost now! Where do we go?!"
"Well, if you're so bright, why don't you be the one to decide?!" Ash sated.
"That's a good idea... I'll find a way out here!" Misty said, looking around the forest.
"Come on, Misty, let's go. We're waiting for your directions," Ash said, getting close to Misty's face.
"Don't rush me, Ash. I just have to think!"
"Well, this will be a brand new experience for you."
"WE'RE NOT LOST, CUZ OF ME! Misty snapped, annoyed.
Brock then pushed the two away from each other."Hey, yelling never solves anything. So just calm down!" He commanded."You two have to learn to be more mature like me!"
"Uh?" Ash and Misty both said, looking at Brock.
"Togepi!" Togepi said, jumping out of Misty arms and began running off.
"Pika!" Pikachu jumped down from Ash's shoulder and followed Togepi.
"Pikachu!" Ash called out.
Ash then ran after the two Pokemon. As soon as he reached them, he gasped, seeing a Pokemon figure glowing blue on top of a rock pedestal.
"A Pokemon," Brock said as he appeared behind Ash.
"It's beautiful," Misty said.
The mysterious Pokemon then turned toward the three trainers and their Pokemon. Ash gasped a little bit.
"It sure is," Ash said.
The mysterious Pokemon then jumped far off of the rocky pedestal as it disappeared into the forest. Ash gasped as he ran forwards after it.
"Wait, come back!" Ash yelled as he ran forward and slid down a steep grassy hill.
"Ash!" Misty and Brock said, running after him as they slid down the hill as well.
After sliding down the hill, the three trainers and their Pokemon soon found themselves out of the forest as they were now walking about as they were now exhausted.
"I don't think I can go on much longer," Misty said.
"Me neither," Brock said.
"Hey, look what that sign says," Ash said, looking at the sign in front of them.
"New Bark Town!" Misty said happily.
"Pika!"
"Alright!" Ash cheered.
"Ash, maybe we'll see another one of those Pokemon we saw in the woods," Misty said.
"Hey yeah, "Ash agreed.
"New Bark Town," Brock suddenly said, catching the attention of the others."This way to the town where the wind one beginnings blow. Yes, our next adventure starts right here!"
"Where winds of new beginnings blow," Ash said, looking at the town."Yeah, I'm ready!" He shouted, full of energy.
"What do you think he ready for Brock?!" Misty asked.
He is ready to overcome every obstacle to achieve his ultimate destiny."
"Oh, that."
Pikachu then jumped back onto Ash's shoulder.
"Pika, pi!"
"The journey starts right now, Pikachu."
Ash raised his fist in the air. "Lookout Johto League we're on our way!"
Ash then started to run off until Brock grabbed the back of her jacket.
"Ash, you can't go to the Johto League until you register."
"Oh yeah, that's right," Ash said as he stopped trying to run."Lookout Johto we're going to register!"
"Pika, pika!"
"Do you have any cash in case they charge a fee?"
Everyone fell to the ground hearing Ash's comment.
"THERE'S NO FEE; YOU JUST SIGN UP AT THE POKEMON CENTER!" Brock stated. "Come on," He said, walking off.
Ash, Misty, and Brock then started heading straight for the Pokemon Center.
Ash and the others soon arrived at the Pokemon Center and walked toward the front counter. The three did not notice Jessie, who was sitting in a chair with Shelly in her own as she was asleep.
"Oh, Nurse Joy!" Brock said, placing his hands on the counter.
However, Nurse Joy still wasn't at the front counter as Chansey soon rose up from under the counter.
"Chansey, you're not Nurse Joy," Brock said.
Chansey then again pressed the orange button and made the screen come down, and Nurse Joy appeared.
"Ah...there she is..." Brock said.
"That funny."
"Why is she on T.V?"
"I'm over at the Elm Laboratory right now, and I'm sorry I'm not here to help you, but I'll be back at the Pokemon Center no later them two o'clock this afternoon."
"Looks like we will have to wait," Ash said.
"Didn't she say two?" Misty asked.
"It's already three-thirty," Ash said, looking at the clock.
"May as well sit down," Misty said as she and Ash walked over to the seats and sat down.
"She must be running late," Ash said.
"We can't just hang around here and hope everything is okay! Don't you understand Nurse Joy might be in some kind of terrible danger!" Brock shouted."Let's go find her."
"Whatever you say, Brock," Ash said.
Jessie then let out a yawn as she began to wake up from her nap, making Ash, Misty, and Brock to turn behind them.
"Hello, there might I say you have such beautiful hair," Brock said as he rushed over with a large smile.
"Ugh," Jessie said, caught off guard by Brock's behavior.
'Wow, the older twerp never flirted with me. Guess I really look different with a new hairstyle, less makeup, and no team rocket uniform.' Jessie thought, looking at him, surprised.
"Alright, Casanova, that's enough. You're scaring the girl," Misty said, pulling Brock's ear and away from Jessie.
"Um, I heard you mentioned looking for Nurse Joy you mind if I come? I have been waiting for a while now," Jessie said, standing up with Shelly still in her arms.
"Sure, you can," Ash said.
'Seems the Pikachu twerp doesn't recognize me either maybe I can form a friendship with them without revealing anything. They might not even figure out who I'm if I introduce myself using my full name and not Jessie.'
Everyone was not gathered outside of Professor Elm's Laboratory, where there was a large crowd and yellow tape surrounding the lab. It looked like a crime scene.
"I wonder what's going here?" Misty said curiously.
"Looks like some kind of crime was committed," Jessie said.
"Hey, Nurse Joy, not the only familiar face in town," Ash said.
Brock then turned his head as the others looked at Officer Jenny and Growlithe. As Brock started blushing.
"I can't believe it's really her," Brock said.
"Squirtle," Shelly said, looking at Brock, confused.
"Ignore him. The boy is crazy around women," Jessie muttered only so Shelly could hear her.
Brock then charged toward Officer Jenny, blushing as he held flowers behind his back.
"Hello, Officer Jenny. I'm Brock, and I'd like to present you with a small token of my admiration!" Brock said. "perhaps you'd like to get together this evening for a nice quiet-" He continued but was cut off as Misty grabbed his ear and dragged him away.
"I better haul you off before she does!" She said.
"Excuse me, Officer Jenny, can you please tell me where we could find the lab of Professor Elm?" Ash asked as he walked over towards Officer Jenney.
"We happen to be standing right in front of it!"'Officer Jenny replied.
"Looks like trouble...Don't worry, Officer Jenny, just leave this to me!" Brock said as he rushed inside.
"Brock, wait a second!" Ash called out, running after Brock.
"Hey," Misty said, following after them with Jessie following after her.
Inside Professor Elm's Lab...
Jessie, Ash, Brock, and Misty, along with Pikachu and Shelly we, were now in the laboratory as Brock rushed over toward Nurse Joy and a man with brown hair wearing a white lab coat.
"Have no fear! Brock is here!" Brock said."And may I say you look lovely," he grabbed Nurse Joy's hand.
"Do every a favor and stop being strange," Jessie said, pushing Brock out of the way as Shelly moved to sit on her head.
"Could somebody tell me what is going on here?" Nurse Joy asked.
"Sure. You see, Nurse-" Ash started but was cut off as Officer Jenny walked inside of the lab and walked over towards the four trainers madly.
"You kids can't come in here, barging in the middle of an official police investigation," Officer Jenny stated.
"I happen to be sixteen, almost seventeen in a couple of months, not much of a kid, and did you say investigation?" Jessie said.
"I'm afraid someone has stolen a Pokemon," Nurse Joy explained.
"Stolen a Pokemon?!" The four trainers said.
'I was hoping to avoid Pokemon thief now that I was fired from Team Rocket.'
Everyone was now outside as Officer Jenny explained the situation.
"A new trainer's very first Pokemon was stolen. That poor girl, that poor Totodile," Officer Jenny explained.
"Totodile?" Ash, Brock, and Misty asked, confused.
"I guess that Totodile, one of the Pokemon new trainers, can choose from here in Johto," Jessie said, and Shelly nodded in agreement.
"Yes, that is correct. You see, I was supposed to give this Totodile and Cyndaquil to two new trainers tomorrow," Professor Elm said, holding up Cyndaquil.
The four trainers and their Pokemon look at the Pokemon called Cyndaquil in the professor's arms with awe in their eyes.
"Hey, look at that!" Ash said.
"It's a Cyndaquil!" Brock said.
"It's so cute!" Misty said.
"Aw, the such an adorable Pokemon," Jessie's sequel as her eyes have hearts in them.
"Squirtle." [Yeah, he's cute but not cuter than me, Master.]
Then suddenly, Fire scorched from Cyndaquil's back which startled the four trainers and their Pokemon as Professor Elm held up Cyndaquil.
"Don't be alarmed. This is normal behavior," Professor Elm stated.
After a bit, Cyndaquil let down its flames calming down now.
"A fire-type cool!" Jessie said, smiling at the Cyndaquil.
"Maybe I should explain more fully. New Bark trainers get to choose one of three," Professor Elm said.
Professor Elm then takes out a picture of a Grass Type Pokemon.
"A Chikorita, a new trainer, just picked this one up the other day. It's a Grass Type. Or they could choose a Cyndaquil, a Fire Type you know already," Professor Elm said.
Cyndaqil then cries out happily as Elm takes out another picture of a crocodile Pokemon.
"Or they can have a Totodike, a Water Type," Professor Elm said.
"A water Type! I'd pick that one!" Misty exclaimed.
"Personally, I like the Chikorita and Cyndaquil," Jessie said.
"New Pokemon Trainers back home to pick a Chamander, or a Squirtle, or a Bulbasaur. But I got Pikachu," Ash said.
"Well, if those were the Pokemon you had to choose from, I'd say you must come from Pallet Town."
"Yeah, that's right. And I'm here to register for the Johto League," Ash explained.
"So, I suppose you know Professor Samuel Oak," Professor Elm said.
"Yeah, Professor Oak gave me Pikachu, and he is a good friend of mine, and he was even over at my house for dinner the other night."
"I ended up getting my Squirtle from him. It's a good person who I own a lot, not only for Shelly," Jessie said as she thought about the chance to have a better life.
"Yeah, He sure is a great person. Have you ever met him yourself, Professor Elm?" Brock asked.
Hearing this, Elm then proceeds to rant to Brock about his time as one of Oak's top students at the university while the others play with the Cyndaquil that Nurse Joy took from Elm.
"I know that sometimes Professor Elm may sound like a hothead. But he's really very sweet, and he raises wonderful Pokémon," Joy said.
"Yeah, your right," Ash said.
"He seems energetic, but he seems like a good guy," Jessie said.
"But, Sometimes I wish Professor Elm would be a little more like Professor Oak and do some research in the area of human relationships, too," Joy stated.
"Nurse Joy, The reason we came looking for you was cause I wanna sign up for the Johto League," Ash explained.
"I'm Jessica and here for the same reason. I want to sign up for the Johto League," Jessica said.
"Oh, I'm so sorry. I was supposed to be back at the Pokémon Center by 2:00. But when I got to the lab, I lost track of time," Nurse Joy apologized.
"We just feel bad for the new Trainer who's supposed to get that Totodile tomorrow," Misty said.
"Yeah, when I was a new trainer, I got so excited about getting my first Pokemon I couldn't even sleep the night before," Ash stated.
"So you slept till 4:00 the next day," Misty mocked.
Jessie looked at Misty, surprised, wondering how she knew that, and Ash was completely quiet, not knowing how to counter, and changed the subject.
"Anyway, I'm just saying I know what it's like to look forward to the day you finally got your first Pokemon. That's why I'll do whatever I can to help you track for the Pokemon thief and bring back that Totodile," Ash said.
"We'll all help find it, Nurse Joy," Misty said.
Jessie closed her eyes for a minute, thinking about what to do, but finally spoke up, realizing that this was a chance to prove she could change.
"I will help as well," Jessie said.
"Squirtle!" [I help to save a fellow water-type Pokemon, Master.]
"Officer Jenny!" A male officer called out, running over towards carrying a concert plate."We didn't find any fingerprints, but we made a plaster cast of some suspicious footprints we found behind the lab."
The policeman then shows everyone the footprints as they look at them, confused.
The four trainers and Officer Jenny we're now following Growlithe, who had the scent from the footprints. It was following the scent.
"Where is Growlithe taking us?" Ash asked.
"To the Pokemon thief. Growlthe's following the scent it picked up for those footprints to find the stolen Totodile," Officer Jenny said.
Growlithe then barks, a sign that they were getting closer. That was when they heard arguing up ahead. As they got closer, they spotted two people up ahead arguing. When they got closer, they not get a better look at the two.
A man in his 20s with short emerald green and olive green eyes. He wore a grey Team Rocket uniform with a large red R, grey pants, black and white gloves, and black shoes. As well as a woman in their 20s who has long Sapphire hair in a ponytail and Sapphire blue eyes. She wears a pair of purple heart earrings. Her uniform consists of a grey short-sleeved blouse shirt with the team red R logo on it, along with a grey mini skirt with black leggings, plus black and white gloves, arm length gloves, and black thigh-high boots.
"Huh, Team Rocket?" Ash said, confused, not recognizing the two people, but the logo was familiar.
"The police and some brat kids," The man and female both said.
"I should have known someone from Team Rocket was responsible for this all along," Ash said.
"I'm placing the two of you under arrest for stealing that Totodile from Professor Elm's lab," Officer Jenny said, holding up handcuffs.
"I advise you to prepare for trouble."
"While you're at it, you make it double."
"We'll taint the world with devastation."
"And influence all people within our nation."
"To eliminate the goodness of truth and love."
"To extend our wrath to the stars above."
"Sapphire!"
"Emerald!"
"Team Rocket circles the galaxy day and night."
"Surrender to us now, because you're sure to lose the fight."
"Jigglypuff!" A Jigglypuff popped out of its Pokeball and jumped onto Sapphire's shoulder.
"Could you repeat that?" Officer Jenny asked.
"Listen here, this Totodike is coming with us, and besides, it is attached to my ponytail," Sapphire said, pointing to the Totodike that was slightly tangled in her hair.
"That Totodile belongs to a little girl who expects to be getting her first Pokemon tomorrow," Ash said, pointing at Sapphire. "It belongs to her; doesn't your conscience bother you...even a little?" He asked.
"I guess my conscience would bother me if I cared, but I don't," Emerald replied.
"We're criminals, of course. We aren't bothered by silly things like are conscience," Sapphire said. "Totodile is coming with us!" She shouted as she started to run off with Emerald.
"We'll see about that," Ash said, throwing a Pokeball."I choose you, Bulbasaur!"
"Bulbasaur!"
"Bulbasaur, use your vine whip now!"
Bulbasaur shot a green vine from its body and made Emerald and Sapphire trip, before getting ready to attack again.
"Ok...Primeape, I choose you!" Emerald said, throwing a Pokeball and sending out his Primeape.
"Primeape!"
"Karate chop that vine," He commanded.
Primeape!" Primeape cried out, knocking Bulbasuar and the vine back.
"Now again, Karate Chop and knock out that Bulbasaur.
Primeape ran towards Bulbasaur, trying to finish him off before he could get up.
"I choose you, Charizard!" Ash said, sending out his Charizard. "Whirlwind, blow that Primeape back!
"Charizard!" Charizard cried out and flapped his wings, blowing it back.
"No," Sapphire said, looking at the Primeape, who was blown away.
Bulbasaur then got up and used vine whip to grab Totodile and pull it free from Sapphire's hair and toss it into Ash's arms.
"Don't worry, Totodile, I got you," Ash said.
"Ouch," Sapphire cried out, rubbing her head."You brat, how dare you that hurt, and my hair could have been ripped out."
"Sapphire, your hair is fine now; chill. What is important is getting that Totodile back," Emerald said?"Also, look at the boy with the hat, the one we needed I find.
"Hm," Sapphire hum looking at Ash and seeing the Pikachu next to him."So it is."
"Alright, Growlithe, get in there, and apprehend those three Pokemon thieves."
"You get ready to fight as well, Shelly," Jessie said, placing Shelly on the grab.
Growlithe then ran towards the duo, letting out an action cry.
"Primeape Low Kick!!"
Primeape kick Growlithe in the face stopping its tracks.
"Growlithe!" Officer Jenny shouted with worry.
"Hurry, Emerald, while we got an advantage."
"Right, this call for Exeggutor, Confusion!" He said, sending out his Exeggutor.
"Exeggutor," Exeggutor cried out and turned to glare at Emerald.
"Hey, lose the attitude."
"Oh, forget it. She is clearly in a bad mood again," Sapphire muttered. "I choose you, Fearow!" She said, sending out a Fearow.
"Quick Squirtle, use your Water Gun Attack!"
"You to Shelly!"
Ash Squirtle and Shelly both shot water from their mouths and at Fearow, knocking it back.
"All of you attack them!" Sapphire commanded.
Primeape, Exeggutor, Jigglypuff, and Fearow all charged at towards them, ready to attack.
"Ok, everyone let them have it," Ash said.
Pikachu, Charizard, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, along with Shelly all combined their attacks together, attacking their opponents, causing an explosion knocking out the Pokemon.
"You win this time, but don't expect to beat us easy when we meet again," Sapphire said as she returned Jigglypuff and Fearow to their Pokeballs.
"Farewell, but we will meet again. We're now done with you brat with the Pikachu or you girl with the Squirtle who seems familiar," Emerald said, returning his two Pokemon.
"Growlithe, stop them!"
"Oh don't, you don't," Emerald and Sapphire said, running off quickly before the Growlithe could chase after them.
"Well, no arrest," Officer Jenny said with a sigh as the Team Rocket duo escaped.
"You can take me into custody," Brock said, grabbing Officer Jenny's hands.
"Come what you need to solitary confinement," Misty said, dragging Brock away.
"Glad we could help," Ash said, heading Officer Jenny Totodile.
"Thanks to you, a new trainer will be pleased," Officer Jenny stated.
"That good, and I was glad I could be some help," Jessie said.
After recusing Totodile, the four trainers, along with Pikachu and Shelly, we're now back at the Pokemon Center.
"Hello, Professor Oak. How are you doing?" Ash asked, sitting in front of the videophone.
"I'm doing just fine," Professor Oak replied.
"Hey, Professor Oak, as you can see, I ran into Ash, and we made it to New Bark Town," Jessie said.
"That is excellent news glad you two can run into each other," Professor Oak said. "Also, have you two registered yet?"
"Not yet; however, I will. I do my best to keep my promise to you," Jessie said.
"I'm sure you will, Jessica, as long as you work hard," Professor Oak said.
"What promise?" Ash asked.
"That something I think your new friend should share with you when she's ready," Professor Oak replied.
"Okay," Ash said, looking over at Jessie, who seemed nervous. "I understand it must be something personal then. Anyway, we ran into an old friend of yours."
Professor Elm then pushed the four trainers out of the way, wishing to speak with Professor Oak.
"Remember me, Professor?" Elm asked.
"Yes, Professor Elm," Oak replied.
The four trainers left Professor Elm to speak with Professor Oak as they sighed, sitting down on the benches.
"They could be on for hours," Misty stated.
"Next time, I remember to reverse the charges," Ash said.
The four trainers then noticed Totodile wandering off from Professor Elm as Nurse Joy soon came to pick it up.
"Hey, Nurse Joy," Brock said.
"Where did Professor Elm go?" Nurse Joy asked.
"I believe he got a little distracted again," Jessie said.
"He'll be a while. In the meantime, let's do what you came here to do and get you registered and approved for the Johto League," Nurse Joy said.
"Great!"
"Thanks," Jessie said.
Later
Nurse Joy then took Jessie and Ash's pokedex and got them registered into the Johto League as soon as she handed the pokedex back to both of them.
"Congratulations, Ash and Jessica! You're now fully qualified and approved to become an official participant in the Johto league."
"Great, thanks, Nurse Joy."
"Yes, thank you."
"You'll need a copy of the Johto League guidebook," Nurse Joy said, heading them both a guidebook.
Brock immediately grabbed the one being handed to Ash. At the same time, Jessie grabbed the one being headed to her.
"I'll hold it close to my heart, which is where I hold you," Brock said.
Jessie sweatdrop never understood Brock's behavior for as long as she knew him since she was first after Pikachu.
"How many badges do they have to win in this League?" Misty asked.
"Once they earn eight badges. They'll be qualified to enter and participate in the Johto Championship. The best place to start is Violet Gym in Violet City."
"That we're, we will go then, Shelly," Jessie said, looking down at Shelly in her arms.
"Why don't you join us? A beautiful angel like you shouldn't travel alone, " Brock said.
"Uh, I don't know," Jessie muttered.
"If she comes with us, I will have to keep a good eye on you before you scare her off," Misty stated.
"Yeah, come with us. We can train together for the gym and league."
"Well, alright, If you're okay with me traveling with you, I'll come."
"Great," Ash said.
"Pikachu!"
It was now sunset as the four trainers, and Pikachu and Shelly, got back on the road. They waved bye to Professor Elm, Nurse Joy, and Officer Jenny.
"Good luck in the Johto League!" Officer Jenny called out.
"Remember, you can always stop in at a Pokemon Center if you run into trouble!"
"Thanks for recusing Totodile! Have a safe trip, everyone!"
The four trainers and their Pokemon walk along the road, leaving New Bark Town for a new adventure ahead of them.
