Chapter One

"Mama? Papa?" a child wearing a pink nightgown asked sleepily. Six year old Tenten walked out into the hallway, her bare feet padding softly against the wood floor. Her teddy bear made a quiet sliding sound as she dragged it behind her.

Thud.

"What was that?" Tenten wondered groggily to herself. She paused outside her parents' bedroom. A faint sniffling sound came from inside as well as a curious lapping sound.

"Mama?" Tenten asked again. She hugged her teddy bear to her chest and pushed open the door.

Her shrill scream rent through the air as the image of her father's dead body was burned into her retinas. His body had been skewered through with a poker, his face a vision of pain.

"Tenten…get out of here…" her mother whispered weakly.

Tenten's eyes widened when she saw her mother pinned against the wall with a shadow attached to her neck.

"A child?" the vampire asked, lifting his head from his prey's neck. A chuckle erupted from his throat. "How amusing…" He dropped the woman's limp form, her body sliding down the wall, leaving a trail of blood staining the wall. Tenten backed away, terrified at the glittering fangs that had bared themselves to her.

"Don't hurt her! Please…do what you will to me…just don't harm her!" Tenten's mother pleaded.

Another chuckle. "You're worthless to her now…" And with that taunting statement, the vampire killed his hapless victim in front of her daughter's eyes.
