Chapter 3 Peach Beach
"Ughhhh." Daisy groaned.
Rosalina snorted back a laugh. She was sure that the sounds the Princess of Sarasaland made would grow annoying at one point, but right now, they were hysterical. She sounded like a dying whale. Rosalina turned back toward the paperwork on the desk as Peach went up and smacked Daisy across the forehead.
"Knock it off," the princess said through gritted teeth.
Daisy gave her a look, but didn't say anything. She leaned over the paperwork and stamped it with the royal seal, her brow scrunched up and her back hunched over. Aqua was in a similar state, where she kept her eyes glued to the paperwork. She didn't actually groan though. Instead, she moved as fast as lightning. She didn't even bother reading through the papers. Rosalina went up to her.
"Sweetie," she said. "You need to slow down. Otherwise, you might shred something important."
Aqua gave her a frustrated look. "I could be out in the moat right now, Rosalina. I could be swimming like a fish and soaking up the sun. But instead…." she curled one of the documents into a ball and hurled it at a trash can. "I'm a glorified secretary."
"Oh, stop it!" Peach said. "You are not secretaries; you're helpers."
Daisy snorted. "If by helpers you mean 'secretaries,' then…."
Peach flashed her a glare. "Seriously, stop!"
Daisy blinked before holding her hands up. "Okay, okay! No need to get all huffy with me." With that, she continued stamping the documents.
Rosalina watched this happen, intrigue planted all over her face. She started stamping her own documents. It was honestly kind of fun and really satisfying to see the hot red wax be pressed into the paper. While the others were irritated by the task, she recognized that it was taking a big load off of Peach's chest. That was enough to make Rosalina feel like she was doing the right thing.
The stamping and the shredding noises filled the room for the next hour or so. It almost seemed to be rhythmic, as a stamp would occur, then a shred. Stamp, shred, stamp, shred. It could lull Rosalina to sleep if she wasn't careful. Thankfully, she made sure to focus on it in just the right way. Now, it sounded like music. Stamp, shred, stamp, shred. It was like the background music to a really funky pop song. Rosalina smiled as she stamped one more document.
Another hour passed. Rosalina was tempted at one point to use her magic to aid her in the process. Not only would she get done faster, but it would also give her arm sometime to rest. However, one look at the other Princess told her she shouldn't. They had to do this all without magic, so she figured she might as well continue.
After about half an hour this time, Rosalina came across her last document. She stuck it with the royal seal and….done! Whew, she actually finished! She felt so accomplished.
"I'm done!" she said as she stood up.
Peach smiled. "Excellent." She looked at her sisters. "Aqua? Daisy?"
"I'm done," said Aqua, her crystal blue eyes glittering with excitement, anticipation, and impatience.
"Hold on, hold on," Daisy said. She put one more document in the shredder and smiled. "Okay. I'm finished."
"Good!" said Aqua. "You know what that means…." She rushed toward the door. "It's moat time!"
"Now hold up!" said Daisy. "We shouldn't do that! We need to play a sport! After all, we've been sitting around for hours now; we need to get some exercise."
"Pfft. Swimming is exercise," said Aqua. "Have you actually done it before! It makes you tired as heck."
"Eh, true." Daisy shook her head. "But I still want to do something other than swim."
Rosalina put her hand on her chin. Who's saying that they couldn't do something that would satisfy both Princesses? There was nothing wrong with a compromise of some sort. She took a step forward.
"I have an idea," she said.
"Oh no," said Daisy with a snort. "No more of your ideas, Rose. You're the reason why we did all that paperwork."
"We needed to do it anyway!" Peach said. She huffed and turned toward the Lady of the Shooting Stars. "What's your idea?"
Rosalina smiled. "Why don't we go to the beach?" She gestured toward Aqua."you can get your time to swim…" she gestured toward Daisy. "And we can play beach volleyball?"
"Oohhhh, yes!" said Aqua. "I love the beach!"
"That's….actually not a bad idea," said Daisy. She smiled. "Yeah, I like that!"
"That's an excellent idea, Rose!" Peach exclaimed. "Let's do it!"
"Last one to get their things packed is a rotten egg!" Aqua said before bolting toward the door.
Daisy bolted after her. "Oh no! You get back here, little missy!"
Rosalina chuckled. She turned toward Peach, who gaped at the area her sisters were at. "Sisters, am I right?"
Peach shook her head. "You don't have to live with them."
…
"Woohoo!" Aqua exclaimed. She was using her hydrokinesis to ride the waves. Her whoops and shouts echoed all throughout the beautiful Peach Beach.
Rosalina chuckled as she sat in the sun. She looked over at Peach and Daisy, who were busy passing a volleyball back and forth over a net. Every once in a while, a cataquack would come up and try to throw them up into the air. Thankfully, Daisy wasn't having any of that nonsense and just punched the darn thing in the beak. This would often result in the creature running away sulking
Rosalina sighed and dipped her hand in the sand. It wasn't too hot, nor was it too cold. It tickled her fingers, brought her mood up that much more. It was perfect quality sand. Perhaps she should use this opportunity to look for shells later? Yeah, yeah, she could do that! Later, of course, as the sunbathing experience was too enjoyable.
So, she laid back. This was a beautiful day. The air quality was perfect; not too humid, but not sandy desert dry either. The sunshine was enriching; she could literally drink it up like a glas soft orange juice. But, most importantly, everyone was happy. Aqua was enjoying herself while she was surfing, Daisy and Peach were having a blast playing beach volleyball, and Rosalina herself was getting the best sunbath of all time. She could rest here for all eternity knowing that her friends were content. She closed her eyes, ready to soak up the sun and bake her skin until it was chestnut brown.
"Hey!" a deep, booming voice called out, interrupting her meditation. "Fancy seeing you here!"
Rosalina opened her eyes. She turned around, and gawked at the group of people who now stood before her. Oh no, was the only thought running through her head. How will Peach react to this?
