Her mobile was on the fifth ring when Hermione picked up.

Hello Emilio.

Hermione didn't sound right which made Emilio nervous.

Is everything alright? You sound stuffed up.

I'm fine. How is your day going?

My day is going well, but I'm worried about yours. Are you and Scorp alright?

Honestly Emilio. We are fine, but I've done a stupid thing.

Emilio couldn't imagine Hermione doing a stupid thing, but was prepared to listen.

I'm sorry.

He only had a few minutes. This was not what he wanted to hear. Every last nerve in his body was on standing on edge.

I have to get back, but you've unnerved me. If you don't mind, I'll ring you back after the last of our meetings are over. In the meantime, please calm down. We'll discuss whatever this is later. I'll try not to make it too late, but I will call.

/*/

Emilio had a quick pee, washed his hands before hurrying to the smaller conference room. The meeting hadn't started. In fact, Matt was still in the hallway chatting with several Heads from a few of their mid-tier companies. Emilio greeted his fellows as he took a seat.

While everyone talked among themselves, Emilio worried over what was going on with Hermione. She sounded as though she had been crying. On top of that, she was sorry. About what? All he could think was she had changed her mind. They weren't going to be together and she was apologizing. No. Unacceptable. They had discussed it and come to an agreement. He wouldn't accept anything less. Emilio was out of time to think about anything other than business. Matt had entered the room and closed the door behind him.

It was time to start closing out the day.

A Tale Of Two Wizards Full Circle: Chapter 32

Hannah came through about 5:30 pm like a hurricane huffing and puffing while Scorp and Hermione were in the midst of dinner. Before she could say whatever was on her mind, Scorp spilled it all.

"Uncle Harry made mum cry. He was mean to mum. I was crying too."

Hannah froze.

Scooping the last of his creamed carrots onto his spoon, Scorp made assurances. "It's okay Auntie Hannah. Uncle Harry will get back happy and everything will be alright."

Hannah turned to glance at Hermione. "I see tonight is going to be my night to call out. Let me call the pub. I'll be right back. Somebody is going to tell me what's going on."

Huffing away to make her call in the den, Hannah called back over her shoulder that they would talk after Scorp finished his dinner. After making her call, Hannah vented to Louis about her over bearing husband, and Louis vented back.

"Hermione has made it quite clear she will not sit still for me getting into her business, and I won't. Suffice it to say, your husband acted quite the arse today. I would have flayed him myself if I could. Both Hermione and Scorpius crying is not something I care to hear. Perhaps he should learn to keep his mouth shut."

Hannah stood there with her mouth hanging open thinking this didn't sound like Harry, but after a few seconds, she realized it sounded just like him. Hannah decided she was going to hex Harry's arse to there and back, after she spoke to her girl.

/*/

By the time Hannah left the den, dinner was over and Scorp was nowhere to be seen. "Before we start this tête-à-tête, may I have a drink? A strong one."

"You may have your drink, but there's really nothing to talk about. I asked your husband out of my house and told him not to come back. Simple."

Hannah took the brandy from Hermione's hand then Accio'd the entire bottle. "What the bloody hell happened? Harry called me raving like a lunatic, but wouldn't disclose why. Me being as astute as I am, realized it must have something to do with you. What happened and why?"

Hermione gave Hannah a wan smile before the tears started to fall. "It was stupid Hannah. I trusted Harry with information I haven't even shared with you or Carmela. Personal information." Hermione disclosed between sobs. "Knowing Harry, it was just about the most stupid move I could have made, but I had hoped he would see reason."

Hannah hugged Hermione after summoning a wet cloth. She had her thoughts. This was a serious matter, but she tried to lighten the atmosphere. "We'll talk love, but please stop crying. I don't care to have one of my best jumpers covered with snot."

Hermione grinned as she wiped her face with the cloth. "There's not one bit of snot on your jumper. That's such a disgusting word."

"Sorry. It is a disgusting word. I was just trying to get across how, not pretty, you looked crying on my shoulder. Did it work?"

Hermione swatted at Hannah with the cloth. "It worked. No more tears. I promise."

"Good. Now tell me why my husband went completely bat shite mad. I'd hazard a guess, but don't want to be tossed out on my arse as well."

"Toss you out on your tail? Never. I told Harry that Emilio and I have agreed to see each other again. Then my brother, your husband proceeded to tell me that Emilio had probably been pressuring me from two days after Draco died, which isn't true. Harry was also kind enough to inform me Emilio being the only unmarried Head at MCC would probably use his status as the chance to slag around. He also mentioned there were tons of wizards who would want to take Draco's place and didn't understand why I would choose Emilio. After that, I told him in no uncertain terms I had hoped he would be happy for me and Scorp. Then I told him I have been taking care of myself since I was eleven and didn't need him to run my life. There was a bit more, but… Well you get the gist of it. Bottom line, I told him to get out and stay out. There you have it. I won't let Harry spoil mine and Scorp's chance at a good life."

As much as Hannah wanted to deny it, she thought it was something like this. She was going to give Harry hell. She knew that, but at the moment, her nosy arse wanted to know more. "I'm sorry my husband is such bloody prat. The more important thing is how did this all come about? I mean you and Emilio. Was your explanation of the surprise something to throw me off track?"

Hermione reached out for Hannah's hand. "No. Of course it wasn't. Emilio's surprise was a case of muggle beer. The rest came after we talked for a bit. In case you're wondering, I brought up feelings, not Emilio. We have agreed to appear as friends in the public face, but more in the privacy of our homes. I shouldn't have told Harry. I was such a fool."

"Well. I'll give you a well done. That wizard loves you and Scorp. I'm certain Emilio would have cut his own throat if you had let Xavier get to where he wants to be."

"Xavier! If he was the last wizard, etc., etc."

A wide smile appeared on Hannah's face. "I know that. Too bad Xavier doesn't. I'm not sure he'll give up trying for that cup of coffee though. You are the sweet he wants. I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to get Harry. He will apologize. Then, if need be, he'll step out of your life. You two have been in each other's lives far too long to have it end like this. I'll floo home. Back in a minute."

"No Hannah. Please don't get Harry. He's made his opinion known as I've made mine known. Let him live his life and I'll live mine. Scorp and I will survive without him."

Hannah slumped down into a chair. This was worse than she thought. There wasn't any use arguing. When Hermione got stubborn, she wouldn't bend until she was ready. She and Hermione sat there in silence until the doorbell rang.

"Stay where you are Hermione. I'll get it." Hannah called out as she headed for the door and came back followed by her husband.

Hermione stood up to face Harry. "I'm such a fuck up and failure. Are you back to remind me Harry?"

Harry moved closer, but Hermione remained rigid and stationary. "I never said that Hermione. You are and always will be a hero to me. I spoke out of turn earlier…"

"Yes you did Harry. You made your opinions quite clear. So the question remains. Why are you back in my home?" By this time, Hermione was shouting.

Hannah's heart was trying to pound its way out of her chest. She'd never seen Harry and Hermione at each other like this. "Hermione. Love. Please listen to Harry for a moment. He can't have meant what he said."

Harry raised a hand in a gesture meaning for Hannah to stop talking.

Hermione didn't even turn her head, but did lower her voice. "I love you Hannah, but this has nothing to do with you. As I told your husband earlier, I'm quite capable of standing up for myself."

Suddenly, Scorp came sliding down the stairs as fast as he could. "Mum. Mum. Please stop shouting. You're scaring me and Crissy and Dusty." Turning to Harry, Scorp scolded his uncle. "You made this a bad day."

Scorp tried to grab Hermione by the leg, but Hannah scooped him up murmuring in his ear. "I'll see to our boy." She told the room at large. "You and Harry need to get this settled the right way."

/*/

Hermione still hadn't moved. She was even angrier that the disagreement/argument/falling out had impacted Scorp. She felt the tears welling up again but wouldn't give in to them. "I believe I've frightened my son enough for one day. Please just leave us alone."

"I can't leave either of you alone. You're my family. I'm sorry I acted like such an arse earlier, but …."

"But what Harry? Did you call yourself standing up for Draco? For a husband who valued dangerous stunts over his wife and son? We wouldn't be having this conversation if Mr. Malfoy had stopped being Draco for half a second and thought about me and Scorp."

The tears began running down Hermione's face as her voice grew louder once again. "Wasn't it you who was sure Emilio was cheating on me with Ginny? Wasn't it you who made sure I wouldn't even listen to what Emilio had to say?"

Harry summoned a wet cloth which he handed to Hermione before taking her in his arms. "That was me." Harry replied solemnly. "But I love you Hermione. Fighting, arguing, falling out will not change that. All I can tell you is no matter what I said, I support everything you do. I think I talk stupid shite because I feel guilty for just the reasons you've mentioned. I was frightened that if you and Emilio got back together you would realize the reason you are apart is me. I was frightened you would boot my arse out of your life for good, but I did it all on my own. I apologize for then and now. Although I had the best intentions, I should have encouraged you to sort it out with Emilio, one way or another. Please forgive me for interfering. I promise you. I wish you and Scorp nothing but the best. If you've decided it will be with Emilio, I want what you want."

Hermione was sobbing so hard, Harry drew his wand to throw up a Muffliato. He let her cry for several minutes before asking to be taken back into the family.

"We've talked Harry. I understand your perspective. We can consider this matter closed. However, I will not hear another word against Emilio.. If he plays me false, that will be my cross to bear. Keep your opinions to yourself. With that said, you are back to being a welcome member of the family. I think it will now be up to you to let Hannah, Scorp, Crissy and Dusty know everything is fine. Now."

Harry was up like a shot. "I can do that, if my wife will let me near her. I know it's a bit late for him, but may I bring Scorp downstairs so he can see for himself?"

"Ah! Potter finally has a good idea. Yes. You may bring Scorp down. I'll just go wash my face. No need for Scorp to know his mum has been crying again."

Harry heard the word again but did not comment. He had just made it back into the family. He wasn't going to reopen that can of worms.

/*/

The last meeting was over. Emilio checked his Wonder Wizard Watch which was showing 7:30. Early enough for him to get his…

Gas and Matt appeared at his office door looking for him to come have a drink with them. For Emilio, it was a no brainer. "I appreciate you asking gents, but there is some place I need to be. Perhaps after I get my housing situation and other matters settled, I'll come out and have two or three drinks. Enjoy yourselves."

Gas tried to tell Emilio how being in the Wizarding Luxe was good for now. He could worry about housing later. But Matt stepped in.

"Forget it Gas. Obviously the wanker hasn't had enough business for one day. You and I will have our drink."

Gas grinned. "Fantastic. Our COO will not put business before pleasure. I admire that. You'll be in Milan in the morning, correct? Matt and I will see you tomorrow afternoon. Have a good evening."

"Yes cousin. Have a good evening. We'll see you tomorrow." Matt added with a wink.

Emilio sighed. It was now past 8:00. Another thirty minutes lost.

/*/

After having a pee and washing his hands, Emilio decided it was still early enough for him to visit Hermione in person. Scorp was probably in bed, but he would be able to see his witch. Seeing one half of his newly acquired family would have to do, especially if it was the beautiful one. He and Hermione hadn't discussed Floo or Apparating permissions so Emilio landed at the front door to ring the bell like any other friend.

"Shite." He muttered when Harry Potter swung the door open. He had no defense for visiting Hermione at this time of night. Although Hermione smiled at him, Emilio knew something was going on or had gone on. Harry and Hannah were there and Scorp was still up. Emilio even thought he glimpsed the house elves standing at the top of the stairs.

"Have I come at a bad time?"

"No. This isn't a bad time." Harry, Hannah and Hermione replied, almost in unison. But Scorp had news to share. Slipping off the couch, Scorp went to stand in front of Emilio and held up his hands.

"Up Meelio. Pick me up."

Without any hesitation, Emilio leaned over to pick up his little man. Scorp put a hand on each side of Emilio's cheeks. "We had a bad day. Uncle Harry made mum cry. Two times. It's alright though. Auntie Hannah made him be good."

Emilio grew hot inside wondering if this was more of Potter's bull shite. As much as he wanted to call Harry out, he didn't want to embarrass Hermione or himself. However, before Emilio could decide what to say, Hermione came over to stand beside him and Scorp.

"There was a small hiccup today, but we've gotten it sorted."

"A small hiccup that made you cry, twice? How can I help?"

"I'll explain everything after Harry and Hannah leave. It's fine really."

Emilio nodded, even as he turned to glare at Harry.

With a sigh, Harry stood to offer his hand to Emilio. "I stepped out of line Emilio. Hermione and I have discussed it and everything is resolved."

Emilio didn't understand what was going on, but wanted to find out. "I imagine it was way out of line Harry if you made Hermione cry, twice. I can say it wasn't very wizardly of you."

Harry didn't answer, so Hermione spoke. "I've disclosed our situation to Harry and Hannah. Harry had reservations, but as I said. It's all been sorted."

Thankful on the one hand that Hermione hadn't changed her mind about their relationship, Emilio was livid that Harry was sticking his nose in once again. Before addressing Harry, Emilio asked that Scorp be taken upstairs.

"Dusty please." Hermione called out softly.

Pop. Dusty appeared looking apprehensively at Harry. "Yes. Mrs. Hermione."

"Please see to Scorp. Potty, pajamas and bed."

"Yes Mrs. Come on little man. Time for bed."

Scorp patted Emilio's cheeks one last time before being set down on the floor. "It's a good day now."

The four adults watched as Dusty and Scorp moved from the bottom of the stairs to the top in one, house elf jump.

/*/

As soon as Scorp was gone, Emilio turned to face Harry, and spoke in a level voice. "Well Harry. Even though six years have passed, it would seem you are still trying to turn Hermione away from me. This time, there isn't a witch. This time, there isn't a group of wizards howling for my head. This time, Hermione and I have had a chance to discuss our future, and we, not a howling mob have decided how we will proceed. You and she have been friends much longer than she and I, but she is now my witch and hopefully will be my wife down the line. Therefore, Auror or not. I warn you. I will not stand still and let you hurt or mislead her. You've made her cry twice today. Let that be the last of it."

Hannah was so angry she could have hexed Harry right there and been done with it, but she hadn't because her aggravating husband again extended his hand to Emilio with a honest mea culpa on his lips.

"I was out of line, but explained to Hermione why. She came to terms as I hope you will. My deepest apologies for doubting you six years ago and now. I now realize you loved her from 2001 and before. I also acknowledge that had I given you the benefit of the doubt, you and Hermione might have gotten back together. I'm not proud of what I did, but it was done with honest intent. If you will accept it, I offer my most abject apology. I wish you, Hermione and Scorp a happy life. If you hurt h…"

Hannah almost jumped out of her chair. "Enough Harry. You've made your point. Time for us to be getting home. You are due a tongue lashing. Speak to you tomorrow Hermione. Goodnight Emilio. I'm happy for you both."

Harry hurriedly followed Hannah to the floo hoping he could charm his way out of the verbal beating he was about to receive.

/*/

Emilio was still a bit overwhelmed at what had just transpired. "I should have just rung you."

Hermione laughed as she placed an arm around Emilio's waist leading him to the couch. "But you would have missed such a heartfelt apology. Thank you for standing up for me."

Emilio looked astonished. "You are my witch. How could I not? Besides, it is me who should be thanking you for standing up to your bully brother. I will always be civil to Harry, but I'll never forget what he said here tonight, because that has always been my belief. If you hadn't gone to Milan angry, we might have sorted everything out."

Hermione shifted a bit. What Emilio was saying was a possibility. However, with Draco hot on her heels at that time, she wasn't sure it would have turned out that way, but that was then and this was now. For the moment, Hermione wouldn't disclose what happened the night of Harry's party. Perhaps somewhere down the line, but not at this exact moment. At this exact moment, she wanted her two kisses, and Emilio was glad to oblige.

/*/

Both Hermione and Emilio were feeling quite warm after the two kisses, but neither pushed for anything else. Emilio had already decided that anything more than kissing and embracing would not be done in Malfoy Estate. He had the witch, the least he could do was respect the dead wizard.

Hermione asked Emilio if he wanted a bite to eat. Not having had anything substantial to eat, Emilio was quick to accept. However, as he and Hermione made their way to the kitchen, she had a thought.

"I'd like for us to disclose our relationship to Louis. I know it's not necessary, but I'd like to do it."

"Well. I've already been run down tonight by Potter. I'm sure my shoulders are able to take another bit of enemy love."

Hermione grinned at her new man as she grabbed him by the hand. "Enemy love. That's a good one Mr. Lozier. Let's go let the enemy know he won't win."

/*/

Louis was neither daft nor deaf. He'd heard most of what had gone on in the living room.

"Good evening Louis."

"Hello Elder Malfoy."

Unknown to either Hermione or Emilio, Louis was tickled to be thought important enough to get full disclosure. "Good evening to you both. I appreciate you coming to visit. How can I help you?"

"All is well Louis. We do not need anything. The fact is, Emilio and I would like to inform you of our news."

Louis remained stoic, not wanting Hermione to know he could hear most of what went on in the outer rooms when the door to the den was left open or ajar. "News? What has happened?"

Louis might be acting like he was uninformed, but Hermione knew the sharp eared portrait didn't miss much, but was simply keeping to decorum. "As an important part of my family, I want to disclose that Emilio and I are now keeping company. You may think….."

Louis cut across her. "Believe it or not Hermione, I think you have made the correct decision. I loved and respected you and Draco as a couple. You two taught me more than I ever hoped to learn, but he is gone. The time to look forward is now. It is my opinion, Mr. Lozier is the wizard who should be by your side as you and Scorp move forward. Congratulations Hermione. Congratulations Emilio."

Emilio nodded at Louis.

"The only downside is…," continued Louis.

It was Hermione's turn to cut across Louis. "There's no downside Louis."

"Please let me finish Hermione."

Emilio purposely looked down to his feet in order to hide his smile. Elder Malfoy wanted to be heard.

"I was speaking loosely. Perhaps downside was not the correct word. What I meant to say is I hope you and Emilio will not toss me into some dark corner. I'm as much a part of this family as anyone. In addition, you and Draco taught me a great deal about manners. I know when to speak and when to be silent."

It was Hermione's turn to smile. "If you are referring to your place in any home Scorp and I have, you don't have to worry. The agreement was, you spend six months of the year with Matt and six months with me and Scorp. That will not change."

"Thank you Hermione." Louis replied softly. "I would like to be with my family for their next steps."

"And you will. I promise."

"We wouldn't have it any other way Elder. Thank you for understanding."

Louis didn't mince words in his reply to Emilio. "There were things working against you Emilio, but those things are no more. I believe the future is now laid out as it should be. Blessings."

Louis closed his eyes.

/*/

When Hermione and Emilio left the den, Emilio squeezed Hermione's hand before kissing her on the forehead. "Elder Malfoy surprised me, but I'm chuffed he has seen

things as he has. I believe we will be alright."

"Of course we'll be alright Mr. Lozier. As you said, we have made our decision. No one will stop us now. Come have your dinner."

Emilio grabbed Hermione by the hands. "For tonight, I think I've overstayed my welcome. I need to get back to the hotel to get myself in order for tomorrow. I'll be in Milan until early afternoon. After that, I'll be back in London. If all works out, I'll be back at your door tomorrow evening. Thank you again for standing up to Potter. I-I…"

Hermione smiled at the first serious wizard of her life. "I-I as well. I hope you'll be able to get here early enough to see Scorp."

"I'll try. I've spoken to Theo about permanent housing. I have an appointment for Saturday morning. In the mean time, if you hear of a home for sale worthy of a COO, please keep me in mind. I need somewhere to entertain my witch and her-our son. Sleep well."

With one last kiss, Hermione watched as Emilio left through the front door. It was only after he was gone that Hermione realized she should have given him ward and floo permissions. "No rush. I'll Owl or ring him in the morning."

Tonight had been a bitch, but had turned out well. She and Emilio were on their way to the future. With one wave of her wand, Hermione shut off the lights and headed upstairs to check on Scorp.

/*/

As soon as they had both feet in the house, Harry began backing away from Hannah. "I'm going to take a shower."

"Stay where you are Potter, unless you want to feel the heat of my wand across your arse," demanded Hannah. "Your only saving grace is everything has been straightened out. What I want to know is why you felt it was your duty to make one of the strongest witches I know cry?"

Harry threw his arms wide in supplication, but Hannah didn't give him a chance to say anything.

"On top of that, you had Hermione so upset she scared Scorp, not to mention the house elves. What in bloody hell were you thinking telling Hermione how she should live her life and with whom? Bull shite. If she wants to shag Hagrid, that's her business and hers alone. I'm so angry with you right now I could….. I could."

All the wind went out of Hannah as she ran out of words. Harry rushed over to pull her into his arms. "I've learned my lesson love. I promise. The only business in which I will stick my nose is ours. I apologize for embarrassing you and myself. I just want to see everything go well for Hermione….."

On the verge of tears, Hannah pulled away from Harry turning on him with a scream. "There you go again. I don't care what you want for Hermione. She doesn't care what you want for her. Her life is her own. Your foul words could have caused all kinds of damage. I suggest you stay away from Malfoy Estate for a while. I'm going to bed. Please don't climb into my bed expecting comfort as there won't be any. I've had enough of your shite for one day. Goodnight."

Harry summoned the Ogden's Whiskey. After his third drink, he removed his jumper, conjured blankets and a pillow then laid his wand on the table. He was going to take Hannah at her word, and stay well away from her bed.

/*/

As much as Emilio wanted to savor what had gone on with Hermione, it was late. He planned to take his open portkey back to Milan so he would be ready for an early arrival at The Ministry. Even though he had promised the HOMI thirty days, Wallace and the Junior were working so well together, Emilio decided they could get along with only the barest of supervision. Emilio decided he would discuss the matter with Wallace first thing.

Emilio had just finished shrinking down some MCC material he wanted to look over when he heard the door open and close. He wasn't expecting anyone. With wand in hand, Emilio hurried to the lounge area to find Matt ready to plunk his arse in a chair.

"Matt?"

"Hello cousin."

Emilio sat across Matt. "Looks like you had more than one drink. Is it Kim again?"

"Actually, Emilio. Gas and I decided to put off going for drinks. He went home to his lovely wife while I wandered about London."

"Wandered about London? Are you mad? You are the CEO of Malfoy Conglomerate of Companies. You don't wander."

Matt smiled at the concerned look on Emilio's face. "No worries cousin. I didn't wander anywhere I'd be noticed. Just needed a breath of fresh air is all. I have things on my mind. Enough about the sad state of my life. How did things go with Hermione?"

"Hermione?"

"Yes Hermione. I was pretty sure when you begged off going for a drink you only had one thing on your mind. Was I wrong?"

"You weren't wrong. Things went well enough. When I spoke to Hermione earlier, there seemed to be something wrong. I wanted to make sure she and Scorp were alright."

Matt waited for Emilio to go on. When he didn't, Matt asked the question. "For fucks sake Emilio. Was everything alright?"

"Things were a bit hairy for a bit, but it ended well." From there, Emilio explained the whole of it.

"Are you telling me Harry upset Hermione and Scorp to the point of tears because he doesn't think you are good enough for her?" Shouted Matt. "In the past, you've mentioned how Harry had a problem with you, but this. This cannot stand. Whether you and Hermione get together, or not. This cannot stand. It obviously wasn't enough for him to have stepped between you and Hermione once before."

Emilio tried to bring some calm to the situation. "Slow down Matt. You know as well as I do. I must shoulder some of the blame for what happened in the past."

Matt was pacing. "Don't you dare stand there sticking up for that, that idiota."

"I am not sticking up for anyone Matt. I wasn't happy with the situation either, but Hermione and Scorp are fine. Harry and I had a conversation. It has all been sorted. Harry Potter will never be able to step between Hermione and me again. She and I plan to move forward as a couple and as a family. Let the other shite go."

Matt sat back down, but remained all puffed up. After a few deep breaths, he finally regained his composure. "You're right cousin. If you say it's been sorted, it's been sorted. I'm absolutely chuffed you finally have your witch. Even more so because it came about because of a surprise. Well done. Extremely well done."

Emilio was nodding his head as if hearing some beat only he could hear. "We are going to take it slowly. Although we have disclosed to you, Harry, Hannah and Louis, we will remain private to most others except maybe my parents. Until Harry stuck his nose in, we had planned to remain private for at least the next month, but whatever. This is my dream come true. I'll do whatever necessary to see it through."

Matt let out what could be considered a giggle. "You and Hermione disclosed to Louis? I'll bet he was worse than Harry."

"And you'd be very wrong. Louis was so happy for us, he almost smiled. Believe me. I was shocked silent by his behavior. I'm sure Elder Malfoy knows much more than he lets on."

"Fan-fucking-tastic Emilio. While I respect Elder Malfoy, he has gone way up in my eyes. Bloody good show. Now that you're on your way to a happy life, I think I should try to work things out with Kim so I might enjoy a happy life as well."

"You've listened to my tale of woe for years. You've helped me remain strong when I wanted to fold. The least I can do is help you get sorted with Kim. I know you have to be at MCC tomorrow. Why don't I scout around tomorrow while I'm in Milan to see if I can find her. If I do, am I allowed to suggest she meet with you?"

Matt clapped Emilio on the back. "Yes you may. If you find her and she is her normal arbitrary self, just ask her to ring me. I'd hate for her to show up at MCC shouting the place down. I have an image to maintain."

"Image my arse," joked Emilio. "Strange sentence coming from a CEO who wanders about London like a never-do-well."

Matt laughed as he waved goodnight. "I'll see you tomorrow afternoon."

/*/

Emilio wanted to ring Hermione one last time for the night just to hear her voice. However, good sense overruled his heart. It was too late. If all went well, he'd speak to and see her tomorrow. Grabbing the packets he'd shrunken down, Emilio left the hotel suite to pick up his portkey.

Carmela was at her desk an hour early on Thursday. Sal and Seth had packed it in and were gone. In their wake, they had left a completely renovated warehouse, a brand new Head of Warehouse as well as a brand new Head of SSE, her. It had taken both Sal and Seth to talk Carmela into taking the position. She loved her job, but she was no Hermione. Just because she knew the job didn't mean she wanted the entire kit and kaboodle on her shoulders. However, after listening to Sal tell her how she had basically been running SSE for years without the title, Carmela had acquiesced with the caveat she try it for six months before making it permanent. Both Sal and Seth had smiled at Carmela's reluctance to take on the title knowing she would never give up on anything.

"Alright Madam Head. Your son and I agree. If you don't want the job after the six months, we will hire someone. That's a promise. Right Sal?"

"Right you are Seth. Although, I believe mum will take to the top position like a duck to water. How could she not? She learned from the best."

Carmela had laughed at them. "Alright. Alright. You two tricksters have won, so be off with you. I have work to do. I'll be expecting a large pay rise along with the bloody title. You'll remember to do the paperwork, won't you? Even if I am mum to the owners, I cannot do my own paperwork."

Seth nudged Sal. "Bossy from the start. Our mum is fitting right in. At least with this change of Heads, there won't be any bloodbath. Let's get the paperwork done so we can get out of her way."

Carmela had grinned at the audacity of both wizards.

Each man had kissed Carmela on the cheek before leaving her office.

"We'll see you in six months mum," joked Seth.

"Don't tell papa we've given you more work, or he'll have Ministry Service hunt us down," added Sal. "Seth and I have to be in Thailand by this evening. I'll call when I can."

Carmela watched with pride as her son and adopted son headed for her newly acquired office to fill out the paperwork. Unknown to her, Sal and Seth had sent out companywide messages about the changes and promotions at the head office of SSE. By 5:00 pm, Carmela had been inundated with calls, messages, hugs and good will wishes, including a floral basket from Wallace Gorgia, the newly installed Minister of Acquisitions. Carmela was thrilled as well as exhausted when she left work that evening.

Emilio had been correct in his thinking that Wallace and the Junior had the department running smoothly. After a frank discussion with his replacement, Emilio promised to make at least two appearances during the week. Otherwise, Wallace and the Junior would run the department as they saw fit.

Emilio had one favor. "The only thing I ask is to be kept informed over the next few weeks of any major developments. I really wouldn't want anything to clap back and bite the outgoing Minister on his arse."

Wallace had been quick to smile. "You've had faith in me to this point. Please don't give up now. I'd never let you be bitten on the arse."

Both wizards shook hands before Emilio took a last walk through the department to thank the staff for all their hard work. Emilio also wanted to have a quick word with James then visit his parents before heading back to London. He had also tried to contact Kim, but her mobile had rung and rung without voice mail picking up. Emilio made a mental note to try Kim again before going back to London.

James was away from his office, but Emilio left a note with his Assistant. They would catch up another time.

By the time Emilio reached Lozier Estate, it was almost 11:30. When he Apparated in, Ilaria had come running grabbing her son in a hug.

"Emiliano. Come here. Our son has finally come to visit."

Emilio gently removed his mother's arms from around his neck. "There's no need to shout mother. At that level, father would be able to hear you from Spain."

Ilaria grinned at her son. "Always with the biting comments. Come on through. Contrary to what you believe, I think your father has either gone deaf or has left the house without telling me. Emiliano."

Emiliano came through huffing at his wife before extending his hand to Emilio. "A man is allowed a few seconds of privacy on his own toilet, is he not? Hello son. I see your visit has your mother in an uproar. How are you?"

"I'm well father. How are you and mother?"

Ilaria had to get her point across. "I'd be better if you'd stop by more. Celia and Ron live in Belgium but stop by more than you."

"Good for them mother. I'm here for a visit and to share some information. Will you allow me to do that?"

Reaching out for Emilio's hand, Ilaria gave him a motherly smile. "Of course I'll allow that. Your father and I want to hear everything. Are you hungry? Shall I get you a drink?"

"For Merlin's sake Ilaria. Let the man get a word in edgewise. And you wonder why…."

"I stopped by because I want you to know what's going on. However, a simple visit always seems to turn into a war of words. I need to get back to London. I love you both. I'll send a letter."

"Please son. Don't leave. Your mother and I want to hear your news. Have you already moved house to London?"

Emilio sighed. His parent's actions could make it rain on the sunniest of days. "I'll make it quick because I know you two cannot refrain from bickering for more than five minutes. I have packed up my Milan house, but I haven't found suitable housing in London yet. I will notify you when I've found permanent housing. I am now COO at Malfoy Conglomerate Companies. I've brought several magazines and newspapers featuring Matt, Gas and I. You might put them away for your grandchildren."

Ilaria had heard the word grandchildren and could barely control herself. But before she could go into overdrive, Emiliano simply said, don't and she remained quiet waiting for Emilio's next words.

"Thank you father. I've saved the most important for last. Hermione and I have gotten back together. I'll ask you to keep this to yourself for now, especially from Celia and Weasley. Hermione and I will announce our relationship within the month. Until Hermione, Scorp and I show up at your door, this news is not for public dissemination. There you have it. You now have hope I will give you a grandchild at some point."

The room went so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. For once, Ilaria was speechless. Emilio wanted to laugh out loud, but held himself in check. His overly inquisitive mother had been surprised into silence, but not for long.

"Oh my gods. Did he say Hermione Emiliano? Did you say Hermione? Did you say you and she are back together? When will you bring her round? When should we come to London?"

At this point, Emilio did laugh out loud. "Mother please. Slow down. I shared my news because I'm happy. However, I cannot stress enough. This is all confidential until Hermione and I announce."

"We understand that part Emilio. Right Em? We won't breathe a word. I'm so happy for you." Then, in all seriousness, Ilaria suggested Emilio marry Hermione as quickly as possible so she wouldn't get away again.

"We've just begun to make plans mother. A wedding, if there is to be one, will be a long way down the road. Suffice it to say, I'm happy just being in a relationship with the witch I love."

Ilaria fell into a chair. And for a witch who rarely raised her wand, she used it to summon a hand fan and began fanning herself. "I knew it would turn out right. I just knew it. I've said it over and over. You two were meant for each other. Haven't I said that Em?" She asked, turning to her husband.

"Almost every day for the last eight years." Emiliano answered with a sigh. "Almost every day."

Emilio smiled as he put his arms around his excited mother. "I've shared my news. I have to get back to London. Remember mother. Not a word of this until Hermione and I give the word. Love you both. See you soon."

Finally, was the first word out of Ilaria's mouth after Emilio left, but Emiliano wasn't having it. "Our son has shared his news. Reflect on it, think about it, or sing about it in the shower, but do not start dissecting what he has asked us not to discuss."

"But this is such good news Em."

Emiliano gave his wife a look. "We've promised not to discuss it, and we won't. I will hex you if it becomes necessary."

Ilaria turned bright red. "You wouldn't dare."

"Of course I wouldn't." Emiliano confessed as he took Ilaria in his arms. "I intend to keep the promise we made. No discussion until he brings Hermione to our door."

"Do you think they are sleeping together Em? I'd like a grandchild sooner than later."

Emiliano dropped his arms from around his wife. "Stop Ilaria. Now you're being downright rude. Go cook or something, because I'm beginning to rethink the idea of hexing you."

"I'll cook," mumbled Ilaria as she headed to the kitchen. "But you won't be eating."

After breakfast, Hermione asked Crissy to take Scorp to his room where she would assist him with the muggle games Hermione had recently purchased while she worked on her living portrait project. Draco wouldn't allow Hermione to purchase muggle products for his wizard son, but now that he was gone, she had loaded up on what were called brain enhancer games for young children. There wasn't any wizarding law against teaching a child to be the best he could be.

"Come here and give mum a hug before you go upstairs to play your games."

Scorp ran over to hug his mum. "I'm going to be a very smart wizard. Crissy told me so. It must be true because Elder Malfoy said the same thing."

Hermione stooped down to be at eye level with her son. "People don't care for young wizards who are too full of themselves. It will do Crissy and Louis well to stop filling your head with fluff."

Turning to Crissy and giving a hard stare, Hermione reminded the elf she was there to help instruct Scorp not puff him up.

"Yes Mrs. I'll be helping our little man learn and not puffing him up. Come on little man. We going to play games and learn."

Hermione ensconced herself behind the desk and began working on possible clients as Emilio had suggested. It didn't take her long to realize she would have to use other sources to get what she needed. Making a mental note, she decided a visit to the Ministry was in order. The names of young witches and wizards growing up in London and surrounding areas was public knowledge which could be accessed by any wizarding citizen. To push her project forward, Hermione would have to do some research. At the same time Hermione was thinking about living portraits for children, she thought about family living portraits also as Emilio suggested she do. After reviewing what she had written, Hermione snapped the ledger closed. She had some research to do.

Emilio was hurrying, but he still took a few minutes to ring Kim again. This time she answered.

Hello Emilio. This is a surprise. If you're looking for Matt,…."

Emilio cut across Kim.

Actually Kim, I know exactly where Matt is. I'm calling to pass on a message. Matt would like you to ring him when you have a chance.

Oh really? Mr. Lozio wants to chat with the wife he threw out of their home. What's gone wrong? Hermione the queen not accepting any suitors?

Hermione? What does she have to do with this?

Ask your cousin. He's been after Hermione ever since he laid eyes on her. I'd imagine this is his chance now that Draco is dead.

Emilio couldn't hold his tongue. Kim's comments were grating on his nerves. Matt with Hermione, ridiculous.

You're being ridiculous Kim. Matt doesn't have any interest in Hermione. If you feel like ringing your husband, feel free. If not, don't. I need to be getting on with my day. Be well Kim.

Emilio.

Yes Kim.

If my husband wants to speak with me, he can ring me himself. Take care.

Then she was gone. The call was disconnected.

Emilio tried to put the conversation out of his mind, but couldn't. Why the fuck would Kim even think that? As hard as Emilio tried to put his and Kim's conversation out of his mind, the more it zipped about his head. Even though he didn't believe a word of it, Emilio wanted to speak to Matt.
