Emilio was hurrying, but he still took a few minutes to ring Kim again. This time she answered.
Hello Emilio. This is a surprise. If you're looking for Matt,…."
Emilio cut across Kim.
Actually Kim, I know exactly where Matt is. I'm calling to pass on a message. Matt would like you to ring him when you have a chance.
Oh really? Mr. Lozio wants to chat with the wife he threw out of their home. What's gone wrong? Hermione the queen not accepting any suitors?
Hermione? What does she have to do with this?
Ask your cousin. He's been after Hermione ever since he laid eyes on her. I'd imagine this is his chance now that Draco is dead.
Emilio couldn't hold his tongue. Kim's comments were grating on his nerves. Matt with Hermione, ridiculous.
You're being ridiculous Kim. Matt doesn't have any interest in Hermione. If you feel like ringing your husband, feel free. If not, don't. I need to be getting on with my day. Be well Kim.
Emilio.
Yes Kim.
If my husband wants to speak with me, he can ring me himself. Take care.
Then she was gone. The call was disconnected.
Emilio tried to put the conversation out of his mind, but couldn't. Why the fuck would Kim even think that? As hard as Emilio tried to put his and Kim's conversation out of his mind, the more it zipped about his head. Even though he didn't believe a word of it, Emilio wanted to speak to Matt.
A Tale Of Two Wizards Full Circle: Chapter 33
As mad as Kim had sounded, Emilio wanted to look Matt in the face when he spoke to him about his foul wife. Matt chasing Hermione. Indeed. Not wanting to look or sound like a madman, Emilio straightened his tie and dropped his case on a chair in his office before going to find Matt.
Matt was in his office, but before Emilio could speak, Matt shared some news. "Hello cousin. Exciting news. You, Gas and myself have been invited to speak at Malfoy Ltd. Company of Nicosia, Cyprus. Even though it is one of our lower-tier companies, I believe it would benefit us to accept. I'm not sure Draco saw much sense in bothering with lower-tiers, but we are not Draco. If we want to grow our company, we have to do the unexpected."
"Cyprus huh? A bit far away to assist a lower-tier."
"Thank you Draco." Matt replied sarcastically. "A lower-tier which hopes to become a mid-tier or higher. Don't sound so excited. The plan is for us to present on Monday afternoon then again on Tuesday morning. Hopefully, we'll be back in London Tuesday evening. What's up with you? We're off to our first great adventure and you seem like….."
"I've spoken to Kim."
"Kim? Okay, but what does she have to do with what we're discussing?"
Emilio ignored Matt's question. "She said if you want to speak with her, call her."
"Fine. If I want to call her, I will. But that can't be what's gotten you all out of sorts. I can't believe a conversation with my lovely wife has put you off your game. I know better than that. What else is bothering you?"
"Kim also mentioned how you've been after Hermione since you first laid eyes on her. She imagines this is your chance now that Draco is dead."
Matt grabbed his wand to close the door to his office. He was devastated. Kim was spreading her bull shite to people other than himself. "Emilio. Cousin. You can't seriously believe Kim's foul remarks. She's just being vindictive. I never have and never will have any designs on Hermione. You've heard my story a million times. Seth and I would still be in East Flanders struggling if Hermione hadn't found us. She's been a great friend to Seth and I, nothing more. I can't fucking believe that witch. She's not getting her way so she's trying to make trouble where she can. For Merlin knows what reason, Hermione is the only witch who makes Kim feel threatened. I'll definitely be ringing her arse. She can fight with me, argue with me, and physically attack me, but she will not be dragging others into our situation. I'll have Blaise on her arse before she can say …."
"Relax Matt. As I've heard your story a million times, you've heard mine a million times as well. I know you'd never do something so dastardly. My concern is for reputations, yours and Hermione's. Especially Hermione's." Emilio added with a grim smile. "I don't want to get in between you and Kim, but you need to do something. Perhaps calling on Solicitor Zabini is the way to go. I've heard he works wonders on out of control witches, in more ways than one."
Matt smiled in spite of himself. "I've heard that as well. I'll put in a call to Blaise and a quick call to Theo as well. Blaise might be able to fit me in this afternoon after we get this Cyprus matter squared away. I apologize that you had to listen to Kim's venom. Let's just hope Hermione doesn't hear it. She wouldn't mind giving Kim a smack across the head with her wand."
Emilio smiled. "Hermione might not go that far, but Kim should definitely watch how she disparages my witch, or she might get a smack across the head from my wand."
"Good." Matt replied, shrugging his shoulders. "That's settled. Give me twenty minutes to speak with Blaise and Theo then get Gas and meet me back here. We'll set our Monday, Tuesday itinerary then brainstorm a bit. If we plan to bring our lower-tiers up a level, we'll have to have a plan. We can bring in The Four a bit later, or tomorrow."
"Sounds good. See you in a bit."

Hannah stopped by Malfoy Estate on her way to work to check on Hermione and Scorp. She knew they were alright, but yesterday had shaken her. She wanted to be sure everything was back to right. "Hallo. It's me the lovely one come to see you and Scorp before going to work."
"I'm in the study Hannah. Come on through."
Hannah hugged Hermione before sitting. "Since I was off last night, I figured I'd go in early. What are you up to?
"Before we get to that. Our mum has been promoted to Head of SSE. Willem called out of the blue to inform me in case I hadn't heard. I've sent flowers and wine from the both of us. I haven't called yet because I know she must be inundated with work. Scorp and I will call her later. Willem has been promoted to Head of the completely renovated warehouse as well. I'm happy for him. He deserves it."
"Be sure to give Mela my regards and congratulations. She deserves it. Doesn't hurt that her son and faux son own the business. She should have been made Head ages ago. Knowing mum though, Sal and Seth have probably been offering her the spot for eons. I wonder why she accepted now."
Hermione glanced at Hannah. "Obviously, you're kidding right now. Mum wouldn't have accepted if she didn't have the upper hand. I'll know more after I speak to her. Come have a look at our project so far. I've made several lists, but research will take a bit of time."
Hannah couldn't keep the smile off her face as she examined the folders and ledgers Hermione had set up. "Marvelous start Mrs. Malfoy. I don't see an information update on the photographers."
Hermione got a bit pink in the face. "Emilio got the information for us. I thought we'd wait until he was a little more settled at MCC before we started grabbing his attention for the project."
"Ohhhhhh." Hannah replied, drawing the two letter word out as far as she could. "Emilio will be a great help, in more ways than one."
"Hannah!"
"What Hermione? I was simply thinking out loud. Mr. Lozier will be an asset. Are we going to keep the name Living Portraits, which is quite plain if you ask me, or will we try to find something fancier?"
Hermione thought about it. "That's a good question. Perhaps we should go for something fancier. Living Portraits isn't really what they'll be, after all. They won't have the ability to converse with the family like Louis. Maybe we can find a name more aligned with magical, moving photos. If I ask nicely, maybe mum will come through on Saturday to discuss it. She can visit Seana and Gas while she's here. It's a win-win. I know Saturday is one of your busiest nights, but can you make yourself available for Saturday or Sunday afternoon?"
"I'd prefer Saturday afternoon, but will settle for Sunday if that's all that can be managed. Anyway, we don't have to come up with a name right this second. Do we?"
Hermione gazed at Hannah. "I was thinking we will need a name in order to register with Magical Office of Law. On the other hand, we may want to keep it all very quiet until we have everything in order. We'll see."
"Alright love. I have to be on my way. Give Scorp lots of kisses for me. Let me know what Mela decides."
"I will. Have a good night."
/*/
Hermione put down the strange message she'd received from Theo. He asked if he could stop by to discuss, of all things, Malfoy Manor. Theo hadn't gone into details which led Hermione to believe the discussion wasn't that important, but because it was Theo, she had invited him to stop by Malfoy Estate for lunch on Monday.
Hermione was still thinking about the message when she realized the time. The day had passed so fast. Hermione hurried to the kitchen to fix dinner for herself and Scorp. She fixed a meatloaf along with chips for Scorp. She would have meatloaf with a small salad. Almost as if he had radar, Scorp came sliding down the stairs.
"Mum. I smell something good."
"It's meatloaf love. Have you washed your hands?"
"Yes." He replied, holding out his hands for Hermione to see.
"That's a good boy. Take your seat and mum will serve you up. You may have a little treat if you eat everything on your plate."
"I love treats." Scorp remarked, digging into his dinner. "May we go to the park tomorrow? I miss the sings."
"Swings Scorp. The proper word is swings. And yes, we can go to the park tomorrow."
"Sw-ings. Swings."
"That's it Love. Tomorrow we'll go to the swings."

Blaise Zabini picked up his direct line and was somewhat surprised to hear Matt's voice.
Hello mate. How is everything?
Hello Blaise. Things could be better, but I won't complain. I'm calling to request an appointment either later today or tomorrow. I have a matter I need to discuss with you.
A matter? You do realize I practice Private Client Law?
Not precisely. I know you are a well renowned solicitor, but that's about it.
Tell me a quick bit about the problem. Then I'll be able to decide if I can help.
Matt cleared his throat.
I need a divorce solicitor, or someone who can advise me about a discreet divorce filing.
Matt's statement caught Blaise off guard.
Are you looking to divorce Kim? Sorry, silly question. Of course it would be from Kim. This subject is a little deeper than I expected. Let's do this. Do you have any available time at 4:30 this afternoon?
I can make myself available. One point, Kim has gone out of her bloody mind, so I'd like to find a way to handle this as discreetly as possible.
What the fuck is going on here? Thought Blaise. Has Matt become so full of himself he now wants to be rid of his wife?
We'll discuss all of it this afternoon Matt. I'll see you at 4:30.
I appreciate it Blaise. See you at 4:30.

Matt made a short call to Theo to check if he could tag along with Emilio on Saturday noting that something that didn't appeal to Emilio might appeal to him. Theo was fine with it.
/*/
Theo Nott, Real Estate entrepreneur had been working straight out trying to find homes for two of the most highly visible power players in magical London, Emilio Lozier and Matt Lozio. Theo was more than willing to work with Emilio, however, he had to be cajoled into working with Matt again. The only thing that had changed his mind about Matt was the discreet word the Head of all things Malfoy had put in his ear. He wouldn't have to work with Kim Lozio. After that, Theo had been more than willing to take Matt back as a client. Each wizard was looking for a property which was fit for a mogul. Lots of room, extra bathrooms, lots of bedrooms, a study, a den, etc., etc. And if it could be managed, separate wings. Theo looked through his different portfolios with a sigh. This wasn't going to be easy. He had loads of available properties, but most were for the normal wizarding family. Theo believed he would be able to satisfy Emilio, but was less than sure he could please Matt.
There was an idea Theo had bouncing around his head ever since Hermione mentioned Matt and Kim moving into Malfoy Manor. It was an idea which would never have crossed his mind had Draco still been alive, but he wasn't. The youthful heir to Malfoy Manor had killed himself. Until Scorpius attained age, there weren't any direct line heirs to contest anything. However, Theo pushed the thoughts from his mind, because there was still Hermione. She might not see things as he did. Still, the manor was prime property on prime land. With a bit of construction, and some heavy magic, he could turn the property into at least two elegant properties, perhaps three. Theo made a note to speak to Hermione. With that thought in mind, Theo wrote out a note, called his business owl and the message to Hermione was on its way. It was simple. All she could say was yes or no.
Moving on, Theo gathered his folders, and his wand. He had appointments to keep.

Emilio was restless. Before going to Gas' office, he had stopped in his own office to call Hermione, but the mobile just rang and rang, not even going to voicemail. Emilio didn't have anything imperative to pass along. He simply wanted to hear Hermione's voice. Since they'd made their agreement, if he couldn't see her, he wanted to hear Hermione tell him that she and Scorp were fine.
"Of course they're fine." Emilio remarked lowly. "The only thing that can get my witch down is that prick Harry Potter, and he has been warned off. Still…."
Emilio slid his phone into his inside pocket then headed to see Gas who was on the phone when he entered the office, but quickly ended the call.
"Greetings Emilio. What brings you over this way? Is our CEO acting out?"
"He's being a bit rigid, but nothing along the lines of acting out. I am here to let you know we are due in Matt's office in fifteen minutes. He wants to discuss a piece of business. We've been invited to speak and assist the management of The Malfoy Company Ltd. at Nicosia, Cyprus for Monday and Tuesday.
"Shite! That's a tough assignment." Gas exclaimed. "Assisting a lower-tier company is strenuous. Draco and I did several with him vowing to send anyone but himself the next time around. I don't know if Draco was joking or not, but neither he nor I visited any more lower-tiers. Take that as you will. I'm glad Seana's mum agreed to stay for an extended period of time. After what happened with the Crone, I don't like being away from my wife overnight."
Emilio was quite surprised by Gas' mini diatribe. The entire point of trying to build a company is to work on all aspects. While it was true top-tier companies were their big money makers, building from the bottom up could also reap huge rewards. "I understand what you are saying Gas, but the Malfoy era is over. We are now in the Lozio era. Matt will do whatever necessary to build on what is already here, even if it means visiting Cyprus."
Gas held his hands up in front of him. "For fucks sake Emilio. I realize that, so please don't go all tyrant on me. Even with Draco dead, I believe I know what goes into building and rebuilding a brand. After all, I was at his side for the last four years. Times and things change. I know that. Luckily, I've learned how to adapt. Let's get to Matt's office."
Emilio caught Gas by the arm. "I did sound like some arsehole tyrant Gas. I apologize. That wasn't what I meant. Well, maybe it was, but I should have done it in a different way. I should have let it come out of Matt's mouth. From now on, I'll stay in a COO's place until I learn everything you know."
"Ha! You'll never know all that I know. Knowledge was browbeaten into me by the best of them. While Matt may be tough, no one will ever be as tough as Draco Malfoy. Let's get going."
Following behind Gas, Emilio realized how insulting he must have sounded. He'd have to work on not sounding so much like the Minister of Acquisitions because he was no longer that.
/*/
Matt was onto business before either Gas or Emilio had his arse firmly planted in a chair.
"Well my wizards, it seems that next week will be a full one. Our team has been invited to assist the management of The Malfoy Company at Nicosia, Cyprus. The three of us are expected to attend an informal meet and greet on Monday morning. Monday afternoon we are scheduled to make a companywide address. The itinerary is being put together as we speak. What we have to do is figure out who fits in where. Gas, you are most familiar with how these things go. I'd like to hear your thoughts."
Emilio shifted a bit in his chair.
After clearing his throat, Gas shared his thoughts not only on procedure, but lower-tier companies as well. This time, Emilio knew enough not to comment.
"Thank you Gaspare. That was a mouthful. While I respect your thoughts and opinions on this matter, I can truthfully say none of what you've just shared was part of the information fed to me by the elders. Not one word. What I was taught is that I am to spend at least the next five years building and strengthening The Malfoy Enterprises. All of them. I've given up an exemplary career to be here, to do what I've been charged to do. So, if it means the team is a bit inconvenienced by a visit here or there to one of our lower-tier companies, then so be it."
A sullen sounding Gas responded in a low voice. "I never said the word inconvenience. Never. I was just sharing how Draco wanted the company run."
A rarely seen side of Matt emerged. "There you are. There's the problem. You are laboring under the impression Draco is alive and still running the company. I respect everything Draco has done for the company, and for me personally. However, it's time for a change. From here, we will do whatever necessary to expand our business and not just stand in place. Will that be a problem for you Gas?"
Emilio expected Gas to clap back with some explosive remarks. Instead, what came out of Gas' mouth surprised him.
Gas threw back his head and roared with laughter. "It would seem I've exchanged one hard arse for another. We are a team and will do this together. You'll just have to explain as we go along. Let's get on with this itinerary."
Emilio breathed a sigh of relief. Gas was a professional. He'd always do what was expected, especially now he knew what was expected.
Matt called his assistant, and two minutes later, copies of the document were in his hands. "You'll notice all line items are listed without names. Who will do what is why we are here. I'll take the introductory meet and greet where we get to know our hosts and they us. Gas, you'll take the first part of the afternoon meeting. Emilio will take the last part of the day to explain what will be needed to uplift the company. On Tuesday morning, we three will meet with the Head and managers to explore where they are willing to take the company. I don't foresee us being in Nicosia beyond Tuesday afternoon, unless something comes up. Thoughts, comments."
Emilio spoke first. "Sounds like everything is in order. What are the arrangements? Separate or group port keys, and where will we be staying?"
Matt mentioned the second page. "Everything is on the second page. I've chosen separate port keys as the three of us might have obligations to be handled before going off to Cyprus. There are rooms reserved for us at Hotel Nicosia. I don't expect you to be fluent in Greek or Turkish, but I do expect you to cast a language translation spell as soon as we land. That's all I have for now. I have an appointment, so I'll be stepping out around 4:15. I plan to be back in the office by 6:00 to brief The Four. I'll need you both here."
"Sounds good Matt. I have an errand to run as well. I'll see you at 6:00." Emilio said, addressing both wizards.
Gas said he would be in or near his office as he had several calls to return.
"Alright Emilio, Gas. That's it for now. I'll see you both at 6:00."
/*/
Emilio spent a few minutes tidying up his desk before stopping by Gas' office to let him know he was leaving the building. "I'm stepping away for a bit. I'll see you and Matt in the conference room."
Gas mentioned he might stop by the cafeteria, otherwise, he'd be in his office, or somewhere on their floor.
Emilio was headed directly for Malfoy Estate to see Hermione, but offered to bring food back to Gas. Why? He didn't know. Maybe because he'd been so rough on Gas earlier. Gas clapped him on the back readily agreeing to the free food.
"Free food it is then Gas. See you soon."
/*/
Hermione didn't know whether to be annoyed or expectant when the door bell rang. She thought it was probably Harry coming to offer more apologies she didn't want or need. They had come to terms, uneasy terms, but terms nonetheless. She didn't need anymore useless apologies.
"Finish your dinner Scorp." Hermione called to her son as she went to answer the door.
Opening the door to find Emilio standing there gave Hermione's heart and other places a little tweak. As Hannah had said, he was a gorgeous hunk of wizard. "Emilio! This is a pleasant surprise. Did the wankers release you early?"
Stepping inside the doors, Emilio grinned at Hermione as he leaned in to kiss her cheek. "I'll have to take exception with you calling my fine fellows wankers. I wouldn't want it to get around that I am complicit in calling them names. To answer your question. The wankers did not release me early. I am on a short break before a long evening so I thought I'd stop by. I hope that's alright. Besides, I could smell the aroma of your cooking all the way from the Malfoy building."
Hermione let out a tinkle of a laugh. "Come on through Mr. Lozier, even though you seem to be playing a bit fast and loose with the truth. I also sense you are hungry. Scorp and I just started dinner. Come have some meatloaf with us."
"Wonderful. Let me just wash my hands and I'll be there."
"Meelio. I hear you." Scorp shouted from the kitchen. "We have meatloaf. Right mum? Can Meelio have meatloaf?"
Emilio felt a burst of warmth as he listened to Scorp's chatter. He didn't have children, and hadn't been sure he wanted kids after Hermione left him and married Draco. Now, he loved her child as his own and was hopeful they would have one of their own someday.
"Hello Scorp. It is indeed me. I'll be there in a second."
While Emilio was off washing his hands, Hermione summoned her wand. She hadn't prepared any side dishes because she wasn't expecting company. Working quickly with a few single word spells, Hermione had buttered corn with peas and mashed with parsley ready by the time Emilio reached the kitchen.
Running his hand through Scorp's hair, Emilio thanked the little wizard for inviting him to dinner. "It all smells so delicious Scorp. Thank you for inviting me."
"I'm Scorp, but I'm your little man too. Right mum?"
Emilio noticed the faint blush that had appeared across the bridge of Hermione's nose, so he answered for her. "You are definitely my little man."
"Yup. I am." Then it was back to chatter. "We need a pointment Meelio."
Emilio glanced at Hermione with a puzzled look on his face. "Are you trying to say appointment Scorp?"
"Yup. Pointment."
Hermione realized Scorp could go back and forth for hours, so she stepped in. "Scorp and I were in Diagon Alley where I pointed out the Wizarding Luxe Hotel to let him know where you and Matt are living at the moment. He wanted to visit but I told him polite people did not visit without an appointment or an invitation. Besides, it was during the work day which I also explained to my inquisitive child. Just another thing Scorp finds interesting and won't let go. He insists you and Matt love us and wouldn't care if we knocked on your doors."
Emilio took a deep breath. Could he be more in love with this woman and child? He didn't think so. A simple statement had made him emotional. After the deep breath, he answered from his heart as he gazed into Hermione's eyes. "I don't want to get on the bad side of your mum little man, but you may tell her my two favorite people are welcome at my door anytime. And, when I purchase a real home of my own, I'll expect you to visit as often as possible."
Scorp didn't want to make his mum cross, so instead of responding to Emilio's comments, he simply began moving his head from side to side as though listening to some melody only he could hear.
/*/
As much as Emilio liked being with Scorp and Hermione, the minutes were ticking away and he'd soon be due back to work. "I'll need to beg a favor Hermione. I promised Gas I would bring him back something to eat. If you have enough, would it be possible for me to take him a plate of your amazing dinner? If not, I'll stop by a restaurant on the way back."
Hermione moved closer. "Don't be barmy. Of course I'll send Gas a plate. I have to wonder though. How will you explain a homemade meal? Who will you say it's from?"
"No worries. I'll tell him it's from my witch."
"You wouldn't." Hermione replied softly.
"My witch." Scorp echoed with a laugh. "Mum is my witch, but Dusty taught me about sharing. Mum can be your witch and my mum witch. Okay?"
"You have a deal Scorp." Emilio replied, never taking his eyes off Hermione. Turning so he was facing away from Scorp, using a much lower voice, Emilio advised Hermione she was standing too close.
"Too close?" She whispered back in surprise. "You have no corner on that market Mr. Lozier, but I will move away to save us both."
Emilio could smell her. He wanted to take his witch in his arms and, and. Hermione's closeness and soft words had inflamed him. He had to excuse himself to the bathroom. It wouldn't do for the inquisitive Scorp to notice the overly large bulge which had suddenly appeared down the inseam of his trousers.
/*/
When Emilio returned from the bathroom, Scorp was cleaned up and sitting on the couch waiting and smiling as though he had some great conversation to share. Scorp had been chattering about his numbers, letters and how hard it was to read when Emilio remembered the trip.
"I too have some news to share. Matt, Gas and I will be traveling to Nicosia, Cyprus. As it is scheduled now, we will be there Monday and Tuesday which may be subject to change if we are needed longer."
Hermione was disappointed but did not let it show. Instead, she mentioned Emilio's search for a home. "Do you have anything specific in mind?"
Glancing at his Wonder Wizard Watch, Emilio told Hermione they would have to discuss his search another day because it was coming on 5:45. Gas and Matt expected him by 6:00.
Hermione rose from the chair. "I'll just put Gas' food in a takeaway container. That way, no questions. Thank you for stopping by Emilio. I hope Gas enjoys the food."
Emilio stood but didn't move. There was absolutely no way he would be getting his two allowed kisses, but he wanted Hermione to know he was thinking about those and more. "It is always my pleasure to see you and little man. Thank you for the lovely dinner. Thank you for having me. We adhered to our agreement last evening. However, since we cannot this evening, I'd like to remind you we are up to two and counting. In addition, I'm thinking there should be some kind of penalty to the giver when she cannot meet the agreement. Perhaps one extra for each additional day the agreement is not met."
Hermione shifted from foot to foot with a big grin on her face. "Where do I sign?"
"No signature needed. Your word is good enough for me. I'll take Gas' dinner and be on my way. Goodnight. Goodnight Scorp. Be good to mum."
"Goodnight Meelio. I'll be good to my mum witch because she's your witch too."
Emilio glanced at Hermione once again. "I'm sure mum will have something to say on that score. If all goes well, tomorrow I'll pass by a bit later in the evening. I'll just say a quick hello to Elder Malfoy then be on my way. Be sure to secure the door behind me."
Emilio had only taken two steps when Hermione asked him for another minute of his time. He waited.
"When you are back from your trip, I'd like to discuss Floo and Ward permissions. The mum witch would like to make visiting as easy as possible for her wizard."
Although he wanted to reach out and pull Hermione close, Emilio didn't, because Scorp had his eyes trained on them both. Kisses would have to wait. "Yours and little man's profiles are in my wand memory. I'll adjust the permissions of my hotel suite so you may enter any time you wish."
Hermione turned back towards the living room, while Emilio went to leave his regards with Louis.
/*/
Although there was still a bit of sexual tension coursing through his body, Emilio was excited to have spent time with his little family, and looked forward to being able to show off his witch and her son. Knowing they would be moving forward in a month or less, Emilio was wishing time away. As he approached Gas' office, Emilio pushed the personal thoughts away.
Emilio handed Gas the sack Hermione had packed. "I'm back Gas. I apologize for the long wait."
"Emilio! I was beginning to think your offer of free food would not be forthcoming. Smells delightful. Matt isn't back yet so I'll have this in the kitchen area as I'm sure he wouldn't like my office area smelling like Sunday dinner."
"No problem. I need to check my messages as well as sort through a few things. See you in a bit."
Emilio checked his Wonder Wizard Watch. It was 6:25. Matt was really running late. After returning a few calls and following up on other requests, Emilio went to check Matt's office. It wasn't like him to be late for anything. Just as he was leaving, Matt came rushing in.
"My apologies cousin. My appointment ran longer than expected. Before we get Gas, I want to disclose that I met with Blaise to explore divorce options."
"Matt! I'm sorry it's come to this."
"No need to be sorry Emilio. It's just a first step. Kim will receive a letter asking her to meet with Blaise and myself. If she acquiesces, we will explore our options. If she declines, Blaise will move forward with the divorce action. I haven't trembled over much in my life, but this matter has me shaky not only for my business profile but my reputation as well. We'll see. If Kim agrees, it will be sometime tomorrow which means you and Gas will have the floor, so to speak. I'm thinking of adjusting the itinerary to include at least one of The Four. I'd prefer Adam, but we'll discuss it as soon as you can get them up here. It's 6:40. I don't foresee this meeting lasting more than an hour and a half. Group message them. We'll meet in the small conference room."
"Will do. If I may offer a suggestion."
"Of course cousin. Suggest away."
"Instead of Adam, I believe Nicholas is the better choice. He's sharper and a bit more savvy than Adam."
Matt thought about it. "Good point. Gas knows them better than either of us. We'll let him choose. Both wizards are top notch. We can't go wrong either way."
/*/
After Emilio left, Hermione gave herself five minutes to savor her time with him. Remembering his words, you're too close, gave her the shivers. It might be fast, but Hermione was looking forward to being in Emilio's arms for more than the three allotted kisses. Another thought crossed her mind. She knew what Emilio was like. He'd never have sex with her in the bed she and Draco had shared. Perhaps it was time for a small remodel. Hermione made a mental note to visit the shops after she took Scorp to the park. Maybe she would start with the downstairs bedroom. She and Draco had never slept there. Even with a remodel, Emilio might decline any advances because Malfoy Estate was still thought of as Draco Malfoy's house. Shaking off the memories, Hermione sat Scorp down to watch a bit of telly while she called Carmela.
Hermione poured a glass of wine before dialing Milan.
/*/
Carmela answered on the third ring.
Hello love. How are you? Is my boy behaving himself?
Hi mum. I am fine and Scorp is learning more and more each day. I fear for the future of the magical world. I'm calling to offer my congratulations. I've been advised SSE has a new Head of Company as well as Head of Warehouse. It's long overdue mum. You are doing all of the work without the title. So kudos. Hannah sends her love and congratulations as well.
Carmela took the congratulations in stride.
I did learn from the best. Besides, I was just doing my job sweetie. Be sure to give Hannah my regards. Believe it or not, I was going to call you with the news a little later. How did you find out?
Willem called. He wanted to be sure I knew. Did you receive the flowers?
Ah Willem. He's one of a kind, although he's been different since Gas left. What would SSE do without him? Gas checks in with Willem from time to time, but Willem seems to withdraw a bit after he talks to Gas. I think he believed he and Gas would always be working side by side, but times change and things change.
Okay. Okay. Enough of the maudlin stuff. I called to congratulate you, but I also called because I have a question about Living Portraits. Well, Hannah and I have a question. Two actually. Should we change our project name from Living Portraits to something fancier? And, are you available Saturday to do a little brainstorming?
If you need me, I'll be glad to come through Saturday mid-morning. I might visit Gas and Seana while I'm there to see how they're getting on. I'll come through my personal floo. Have breakfast ready for me.
You hate that creepy floo. Take a portkey. I'll get one set up for you.
No. I'm just being silly about the bedroom to bedroom floo. It's perfectly safe, just a bit narrow.
The two witches laughed at each other.
Okay mum. Scorp and I will have breakfast ready. We look forward to seeing you. Think about staying until Sunday evening. Fausto will be alright for one night.
No worries Hermione. Fausto is taking me out Friday night to celebrate my promotion. Anyway, Xavier, Fausto and their team have been busy as bees lately. He probably won't notice I'm gone.
Um mum. There's one more thing I have to discuss with you, but it can wait until you are here. Nothing important.
Alright love. I've made a few project notes myself. I'll bring them with me. See you Saturday morning. Kisses to Scorp.
Love you Mela. Talk to you on Saturday.

Scorp had fallen asleep in front of the telly. He woke only long enough to tell Hermione how much he liked cartoons. After getting Scorp undressed, Hermione had to wake him to use the potty. It was a cranky little wizard who climbed into his bed. Hermione placed the family photo in Scorp's hand before heading for her own bathroom for a long soak and perhaps a bit of manual release.

Matt, Gas and Emilio spoke before the others arrived. Gas agreed with Emilio. If they needed an extra in Cyprus, it should be Nicholas.
"Fine. It's settled then. We'll brief The Four, but Nicholas will accompany us to Cyprus. Let's get the boys up here so we can get started."
"They are on their way," offered Emilio.
"Fine. Gas will explain everything, after which, we'll get their feedback."
Just as Matt finished speaking, The Four entered the conference room.
"Good evening wizards. We have a few items to be discussed. Gas will explain, then we will discuss. You have the floor Mr. Maida."
Gas first explained about where Matt wanted to go with the lower-tier companies asking everyone to hold their thoughts until the end. Gas then explained about the invitation from The Malfoy Company at Nicosia Cyprus.
"Matt, Emilio and I are scheduled to be there Monday and Tuesday next. However, Matt wants to add an additional person to the schedule. I won't put anyone on the spot by asking for volunteers. We've made the choice for you." Pointing in the direction of a wizard with dirty blonde hair and fashionable glasses, Gas made his statement. "It's your lucky day Nicholas, or your lucky two days. You have been chosen. As for you other third levels, don't be discouraged. Your time will come."
Each one of The Four gave Gas wide smiles. All four had been brought up through the ranks by Gas and Draco and were very competitive. No one wanted to be outdone by the others.
"The meeting is now open for questions, comments and suggestions. Your thoughts gentlemen."
The questions were fair and reasonable, with the new attitude towards smaller companies topmost on the list. Matt fielded those questions. When he was finished, The Fantastic Four recognized that the company was headed in a different direction under Matt than it had been under Draco. Each wizard stated he looked forward to the challenge, as any good third level would. After a few more comments and a bit of discussion, Matt ended the meeting asking Nicholas to remain behind for his copy of the itinerary. Five minutes later, Nicholas was on his way with his copy of the schedule.
With all business finished, Matt released Gas and Emilio for the night reminding them he had outside business the next day and might be called away. Gas hadn't heard about any outside business but had nodded along with Emilio. The three men wished each other a goodnight before heading to their own offices.

Two floors down, Nicholas stood beaming as his three colleagues each took a turn reviewing his itinerary for Cyprus. Nicholas wasn't being an arse. He was just sharing his joy of being chosen with his mates. Mr. Maida had been explicit. They were top men. Each of them would get a chance to shine. Taking what he had learned from Gas by way of Draco Malfoy, Nicholas knew all good employees were able to adapt no matter the situation. The new direction Mr. Lozio was taking might be tough going for a bit, but he was up for the challenge. To prove his point, Nicholas spent the next ten minutes sharing his vision of how they could help push the company forward. The comments he made to his fellows carried a lot of weight. "Now we know what's what. I suggest we study up on our lower and mid-tier companies. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being prepared."
The other three nodded in agreement. There was absolutely nothing wrong with being prepared.

Upstairs, Gas called to tell Seana he was on his way home and inquire if she needed anything. It was good he had called. Seana was craving lamb pie. Gas told her he would pick one up and laughed when Seana told him to make that two.

It was only 8:45, but Emilio decided against showing up at Hermione's door twice in one day. Instead, he Apparated to his suite at the Wizarding Luxe in hopes of going to bed early and getting a good night's sleep. Emilio was just dozing off when his mobile rang. Hoping it was Hermione, he grabbed the phone only to see Ilaria Lozier on the caller-id.
Good evening mother. What can I do for you at this hour of the night? Is everything alright?
Nothing too important son. Everything is fine. That Marissa witch showed up to the house uninvited tonight because she'd seen a magazine with your photo and wanted to know if we had seen it. She asked me to give you her regards and that you should call her. Are you seeing her while you are seeing Hermione? That's not good Emilio. I'm sure Hermione…..
Stop mother. This is not a conversation I want to have at 9:30 at night, or one I care to have with my mother. There is nothing between me and Marissa. She knows that. Showing up at your door is just her way of trying to step back into my life. If she shows up again, turn her away. That's the end of it. Now goodnight mother. We'll speak soon.
Alright Emilio, goodnight. Don't be angry. I just thought you should know.
Emilio softened his tone.
Thank you for calling mother. Marissa has nothing to do with my life. Please don't worry yourself or father about something so trivial. Love you both. Goodnight.
Goodnight Emilio.

Emilio was now wide awake pondering Marissa's audacity. However, after taking a few deep breaths, he settled back down in his bed glad he had dropped Marissa when he had. The last thing, the very last thing he wanted or needed was for a witch to cause problems between him and Hermione. Not again.
