The song featured in this Chapter is Heaven 2 Hell by Black Gryph0n and Elsie Lovelock. The parts are: Alastor, Charlie, Together
Selena learned that neither men needed her help. So she went upstairs and drew a bath. Selena had learned that this party had been in the making before she had even arrived and that apparently Charlie and Al had something up their sleeves. She thought that it would at least be entertaining to watch. She wasn't sure if anyone would show considering how most hellions viewed redemption as a laughable concept. If anyone showed, it would probably be for the booze and food. Meaning she may have to act as bouncer. Poor Charlie.
Her dream is now within her reach, but very few would take her seriously. Or they would be too terrified to walk in due to the Radio Demon's stifling presence.
Selena had grown to actually like the Radio Demon. A surprise to her, but his quirkiness, dad jokes, and overall charm seemed to make him less hate-able to Selena. In a way, they were total opposites, but there was something that told Selena that they had more in common than either of them was willing to show. She shook herself from her thoughts. She pulled the plug in the drain of her bath and stepped out. She looked at herself as she dried off. It was hard to believe that she was once alive sometimes. Or that she once had a different appearance. Not that she could remember what she looked like before Hell anymore. She looked at her hair. How would she style it for today?
Selena chose to dress in lavender sundress. She put on some flats and thought to put some small shorts on in case a fight broke out. She headed down to the lobby and saw Charlie in a red tailcoat and her signature red slacks. Vaggie was wearing a gray and pink striped dress. Shortly after Selena approached the couple, Niffty came zooming towards them in a dress in similar colors to what she usually wore, but the design was quite different. Husk came up from behind the bar in a suit that was worn in a relaxed fashion, but more than what the bowtied cat wore. As Selena looked at Husker, she noticed a black top hat sitting closer to Charlie. She only could guess Charlie intended to wear it since Husk was already wearing his. Angel came down in the outfit Selena had made for him. She noticed he had powdered his face, combed his breast fur, and had put on heels. He looked good.
"Well, my belle, you look amazing! Quite a difference from your usual look!" Alastor had appeared behind her, grabbed her hand, and twirled Selena around. He was wearing his signature clothes but noticed a red, patchworked top hot sitting on his other arm.
"Mind not doing that, Al? Or at least warn me?" Selena sighed. She would never get used to his antics.
"Hmmmm. Maybe." Al seemed as if he didn't want to give another response. That meant that he probably would. She would need to find a countermeasure for future twirls. Maybe she could step hard on his foot. Nah. That wouldn't stop his handsy escapades. She was almost ready to cave into his whims just so that maybe he'd lose interest. "Ready, Charlie?" Charlie nodded at Al. They both walked to the hotel doors and opened them. Twenty-five or so demons poured in. "Right this way, dames and gents! We'll be having our anniversary through these doors!" Al directed them to the ballroom. The hotel staff were at the ballroom as soon as they began to open the doors.
Selena saw the food table. Al had put together several food dishes. None of which were part of the original plan. She saw a variety of sandwiches and other handheld foods on the table. She giggled to herself. If she knew anything about Al, it would have killed him to make these. But he did make them beautifully presentable. Husk disappeared behind the ballroom bar. The guest approached him first. As the guests collected their drinks from Husker, they went to get food. After they had gotten their food, Angel and Selena directed them to some tables. Vaggie sat back, readying herself for a brawl. "Thank you for attending this hotel's one year anniversary, folks! We have a performance for you and then our beloved princess will state her new addendum to the hotel's curriculum!" Al had appeared on the stage with a spotlight on himself. He wore his top hat and carried his cane. "Enjoy our entertainment!" With that, Al disappeared behind the curtains. The stage went dark. Everyone had gotten seated. By now, at least fifty demons were a part of Charlie's anniversary. Most had come in after Alastor's announcement.
After everyone was seated, the spotlights appeared on the stage with Alastor and Charlie sitting in the middle. Charlie was wearing her hat and carried her own cane. Selena guessed that between the two of them, there was a dancing and musical number involved.
Song Starts Here
"Attention all sinners! Alastor here!"
"And Charlie!"
The two gave their introductions.
"And we're pleased as punch to tell you about the new Hazbin Hotel!"
"Actually, it's the Happy Hot–" Charlie seemed upset that not only did he give the wrong name but that she was interrupted.
"Wonderful! Now listen up!" He gave Charlie a playful shove as music began. They both bent their knees to the music.
What would you do if I said there's a place for you?
A place completely free of shame and doubt
(Well, just about)
It seemed he summoned his shadows to help with the musical number. They sat on the stage just out of reach of the spotlight.
What would you do if you could start it all anew?
Well, come to our hotel and you'll find out
You will not want for anything, we'll take it all away
No, actually, we'll give you things 'cause stealing's not okay
A duet between Charlie and Alastor began. It was quite evident who led this musical number. They swayed with the music, but Selena could tell that this wasn't 100% what was planned. At this point both were battling for being in front. It seemed they were trying to battle whose views would win
Like beds of nails and swarms of bugs
Or cupcakes and a bunch of hugs
We'll make them pay
They'll want to stay
Don't scare them all away
It seemed the combative lyrics and catchy tune were a hit with the crowd. Selena watched as the guests swayed to the tempo. Charlie and Alastor seemed to start dancing with their canes and kicking their legs in the air to the music.
We may not agree on everything as far as we can tell
But we both want this new venture to do well
So, with her passion
And his power
And this rinky-dink hotel
We might just bring some heaven to Hell!
The two on stage were dancing and battling in the most subtle of ways. At least to the crowd.
It's clear to me that you're just looking for control
It's definitely getting out of hand
"I agree" Stated Alastor mid-song.
So before we go and tell another tired, tortured soul
I think we need to come up with a plan
"Good idea!"
We'll ship them in and dress them up and make them look the part
Well, actually, we probably should help them change their heart
By teasing them and baiting them
Or rehabilitating them
Boil them, baste them, slice them up, and serve them à la carte!
Al was smirking down at Charlie. He knew full well what this would rile out of her.
"That's horrible!" Charlie shrieked.
"Don't be such a princess!" Al countered.
"Go to Hell!"
"Already there, darling!" Alastor seemed to know how to keep a crowd. They were giggling at the two. Charlie seemed to notice this and continued.
We may not agree on everything as far as we can tell
But we both want this new venture to do well
So, with her passion
And his power
And this rinky-dink hotel
We might just bring some heaven to hell
"One more time for the demons in the back!" Alastor seemed so in his element on stage. To Selena, it seemed a shame he hid behind a radio.
With our passion, and our power and this rinky-dink hotel
We might just bring some heaven to Hell
"Want some hors d'oeuvres?" He summoned a plate and moved it towards Charlie.
"I'll pass" Charlie seemed disgusted with the offer but tried to remain polite.
"Thank you, thank you! I'm here for all eternity!" Alastor said to the crowd as he gave a bow. His maniacal laughter echoed throughout the ballroom. Of course his static seemed to increase as his vocals began to fade and deepen.
Song Ends Here
The crowd stood up in applause while giving confusing glances to one another. What the hell was Alastor thinking? Selena could just fathom the future argument she would need to have with the deer demon. Man oh man, this might be a problem.
Charlie came up to the stage. Her irritation was evident when she glanced off stage to Alastor. Selena could just imagine the shit-eating grin plastered on the bastard's face. So she made her way backstage. "Well this Hotel has new plans for this year's redemption plan and a new partner! We'll be starting off tonight with the new plans in place and look forward to seeing you as guests in the near future. For the time being, we will be giving tours to our rooms after you finish eating." Charlie came off stage and headed to where she saw the Radio Demon and Selena in a quiet discussion. A discussion she realized upon closer approach was an argument.
"Just what the hell were you thinking! If you talk about devouring people on stage, not only will no one come here, but you'll be hindering Charlie's dream! I thought you vowed against it you— you—!!!"
"I made no such promises or vows. I merely stated that I would help Charlie and not hinder her redemption plan. I still plan on having fun, you know." His grin seemed eerie. Selena had summoned her foxfire to her hand subconsciously, too infuriated with the demon to care what happened next.
She attempted to punch him with her flaming hand but he dodged it away. "Dammit, Alastor! To think I was starting to like you and consider you a friend." She continued punching him. He dodged with ease. "I hate that fun is more of a priority after everything that we have been through. You protected them! Let me heal you! You prank me and have genuine conversation with me! And you are going to get in the way of what a friend wants and what her friend wants. You have no sense of respect for anyone but yourself and you— you—!" Her punchings never stopped, but it seemed clear she had no intention of hitting him. "I fucking hate you, Al!" Selena stopped, and Alastor's smile seemed more strained.
"Auntie, Charlie grabbed her shoulder." He's going to help us. Or he'll leave. That's his order from me. He just plans on throwing as many wrenches into the plan as he can." Charlie looked at Selena. "It'll be okay! We still have a lot to go through, and with the hotel's attack, we haven't been able to discuss them."
Selena seemed to be calming down, but the glare she gave Al was anything but friendly. She gave a long sigh and looked at Charlie. "Fine. We do have a lot to discuss." With that the three dispersed from backstage. Charlie, Vaggie, and Angel gave the tours with five people per group and rotated as quickly as they could. Selena sat at the bar and downed as many shots of bourbon as Husk was willing to give. She was pissed and needed to calm down.
Al went to his radio tower after the tours began. He was planning to announce the hotel's new partner in a broadcast, but he couldn't sort out whatever emotion he was feeling. He had never seen Selena get violent without it being warranted. Today it just seemed to be out of rage. She said she hated him. But that didn't sit well with him. He didn't know why. He wouldn't apologize for having fun, but he didn't like that she would hate him for it. He sat in his chair for a while. He knew she'd be mad, but he hadn't anticipated feeling so strange.
Eventually, he made his announcement, but he couldn't understand his emotions, and no matter how many times he tried to suppress it, it wouldn't go away.
